ABSCONFIG (enable INITIALS in Lync contact card)

Hi guys.
Is it possible to achieve showing INITIALS from ACTIVE DIRECTORY in Lync Contact Card with tool: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Lync Server 2013\ResKit\ABSConfig.exe?
If it is, how could we achieve that?
If it is, will Lync search box also be able to find person if you type their initials?
bostjanc

Hi,
I test to use ABSConfig tool in my Lync 2013 lab and I find it is impossible to complete the function of showing initials from AD in Lync Contact card with ABSConfig tool.
You may need to custom your own Lync client, you can post the question on MSDN Lync SDK forum and more developing expert will help to verify if this can be achieved using Lync SDK. Thank you for your understanding.

    Environment:
    Lync 2013, (version: 15.0.4569.1503).
    Outlook 2013, (version: 15.0.4569.1503).

    MEMBERSHIP Tab
    1. Calendar Presence
Calendar data taken from Microsoft Outlook will not be included in your presence information by default. The free/busy information will be reported in your contact card. Likewise, your status will automatically be set to Busy any time Outlook shows that
you are in a meeting. On Lync Server side, you can control with the client policy:
    DisableCalendarPresence.
When it set to True, calendar data taken from Microsoft Outlook will not be included in your presence information. When set to False, calendar data will be included in your presence information.
When you be scheduled a meeting, your contact card might include a note similar to this:

If you find the tab missing on Lync client Contact Card, it may also cause by the values changed on Registry Editor.
You can check the value in the Registry Editor on local workstation with the following path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\15.0\common\contactcard
You can create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value named “TurnOffOrganizationTab” and change the value data to “0”. If it set to “1” the ORGANIZATION Tab will missing.

    6. MEMBERSHIP Tab
MEMBERSHIP Tab shows the Outlook distribution group on Lync client.

  • Link to User's MySite on Lync 2013 Contact Card does not work

    Hello,
we're running a sharepoint 2010 environment with a configured user profile service application and a mysite host. we're also running lync 2010 clients but are planning to upgrade to lync 2013. the it guys (including me) have already installed lync 2013 client.
the lync server is also already on 2013.
with the old 2010 lync client, it was possible to click on a name from a lync contact card and this directed to the users mysite, which was great. to archieve this, we updates the wwwHomepage attribute in AD with the corresponding link for each user to the
    mysite.
now with lync 2013 it is no longer possible.
i couldn't find anything about this topic ...
any help would be highly appreciated
    kind regards
    Marco

I tested it in my lab.
    The same result with your.
    It is by design.

  • Phone number does not display in Lync Contct Card on mobile devices

    Good day for all!
I faced with strange issue with Lync Contact card on mobile devices.
We have installed Lync Server 2013 (with last CU (December 2014)) and Exchange server 2010 SP3 (Rollup 4)
All lync enabled users have filled AD attribute telephoneNumber  - 4-digit internal work phone.
this work phone has shown correctly in Lync Contact card on Lync 2013 desktop client, but it does not display for some users on Lync Mobile clients (Lync for Android, Windows Phone and iOS)
May be someone have an idea why this is happening and what is going wrong for me?
    Thanks in advance!
    P.S. sorry for my English.
P.P.S I cannot submit screenshot with problem because "Body text cannot contain images or links until we are able to verify your account"

    Hi,
It can be the issue caused by the privacy relationship.
Please check if others set the relationship for these issued users to be workgroup. If not, change it. For these issued Lync users, on their desktop client, also make sure the relationship set to be workgroup.

  • Telephone numbers (officePhone and homePhone) are missing in a contact card in a Lync Server 2013-based Lync mobile client

In my opinion, the error has not completely fixed in KB2967628. After I install the latest November 2014 cumulative
update. I see the following behavior. User A searches for user B. User B never sign in to the Link. There are three fields in the active directory for User B: officePhone, mobilePhone and homePhone (these fields contain different numbers). When searching on
the mobile client (Android/IOS) for user B – as result user A see only mobile number. If User B At least once will go to Link (sign in) when his search will work, (find officePhone). If User B will change, the privacy settings for user A is in the search will
    be displayed homePhone field.
    On the Desktop client,
I can find all the fields without those actions performed in the example. If I make a request
to the service UCWA manually like this (below
    the text) before
actions, which I performed in example, I did not receive officePhone and homePhone – only mobilePhone field.
    GET "https://lync.domainname:443/ucwa/oauth/v1/applications/XXXX/people/search?query=$usename$&limit=200" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "Accept: application/json" -H "Authorization: $USENAMETOKEN$"

    Hi,
Based on your description, I’m sorry I’m a little confused about the following you mentioned. I understand the issue is we can only see the mobile number in the contact card on Lync mobile client and that we can search for users based on their office number,
we can see the home phone field in the contact card but there isn’t number showing. I anything I have misunderstood, please feel free to let us know.
“When searching on the mobile client (Android/IOS) for user B – as result user A see only mobile number. If User B At least once will go to Link (sign in) when his search will work, (find officePhone). If User B will
change, the privacy settings for user A is in the search will be displayed homePhone field.”
According to the KB29677628, this issue is caused by UCWA only sending the work number, and we need to install the update for web components server

Could you please run the following command to check if the web components server version is
    5.0.8308.738?
    Get-WmiObject
    –query 'select * from win32_product' | where {$_.name
–like "Microsoft Lync Server*"} | ft Name, Version

  • Lync 2013 mobile client can't see all fields in contact card

We have deployed Lync 2013 infra in our organization, now we observed, mobile Lync client users are not able to see other users mobile number on contact card rest all information is visible.
Is there  any workaround or fix to resolve this issue. Appreciate quick help.

That's effectively by design (but a popular complaint).  The workaround is to put the users who's mobile numbers you need in your Outlook contact list.  There's another workaround related to setting the privacy relationship, but you have to coordinate
it with many people which is not too feasible.
Here are others upset about it:

  • PowerShell Script to Create a Contact Card and Enable Email Forwarding

    Exchange 2010
Can anyone help with creating a powershell script to create a contact card and set email forwarding at the sametime?
I'm looking to import a list of 200 users via a text or csv file, create the contact card with first name, middle initial if one exists, last name, (no alias) and put the contact card in the following OU "DIS###" in the a.b.c.com domain as well
    as enable forwarding to @mail.com.
I've been able to create a script to enable mail forwarding but it doesn't help me without a contact card.  I hate to put this upon anyone, but my ps scripting and Exchange knowledge is still in it's infant stage and I need get this done post haste

Q:Import csv: Does this contain 200 mailboxes name
A:It contains 200 user logon names.
    For the mail forwarding:
I currently have a csv file with two columns -- one named displayname and the next call mailaddress.  Under the displayname column I have the users account name (first.mi.last -- middle initial if they have one) and under mailaddress i have @mail.com.
    script:
    Import-CSV C:\setmailforwarding\mailforwarding.csv | foreach-Object{Get-Mailbox $_.displayname | set-Mailbox -forwardingAddress $_.mailaddress}
The above script should work if the contact card has been created.  Obviously I need to create the card first.
I don't have a script to set up the contact card as of yet -- I was hoping to get some help on that.
Q:E-mail forwarding: Is this  from  mailboxes to mail contact, you will be creating
A:Not really sure what you are asking.  I'm looking to create the contact card with a csv or txt file for first name, middle initial if one exists, last name, (no alias) and put the contact card in the following OU "DIS###" in the a.b.c.com domain as
well as enable forwarding to @mail.com.  The users current email is @mail.1234.com and we will be migrating our mailboxes to another organization that uses @mail.com.  I will need to set forwarding in the interim until the migration is complete.
    Hope this helps.

  • Lync 2013: missing tabs on contact card

I did some research on the web but I could quite find an answer, maybe I am the first one to experience this or I am just not clever enough.
We are using Lync Server 2013 and the the Lync 2013 client without an exchange server. The problem we are experiencing atm is that when we use outlook 2010 and lync client 2013, all users
have the organization tab on their contact card. All informations like phone e-mail address etc. are active directory informations. This configuration works just fine but if I change to outlook 2013 and lync client 2013, the organization tab automatically disappears
and the what's new tab shows up (this tab wasn't there before).
Actually I wouldn't mind the new tab but I'd like the organization tab back. Is it even possible without using an exchange server? I am just wondering why it is perfectly working between outlook 2012 and lync 2013 but is not when I use outlook and lync 2013.
I hope it is clear enough, if not, just ask please.
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
The organization information was located directly over the IM, Call and video buttons of contact card in Lync 2013 client.

  • Lync 2010 Contact Card - Member Of

    Hello
Does anyone know if the default contact card in Lync ever had a Member Of tab that showed the Outlook distribution groups? One of our end user's claims the contact card use to have this tab and it disappeared but I'm not sure if it was ever there. I know
the Outlook 2010 contact card has a Member Of tab.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
If Member of tab missing on Lync 2010 contact card, it may cause by administrator using group policy or the user changing values on Registry Editor.
If the user Outlook 2010 please check the value in his Registry Editor with the following path:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\common\contactcard
    If it is Outlook 2013:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\15.0\common\contactcard
    Check the value below:
    DWORD: TurnOffMemberOfTab
If the value set to 1, please change it to 0, restart Outlook and Lync client and test again.

  • Lync 2013 Client Not Display Numbers in Contact Card

    Hi
I have a problem where Lync 2013 client connecting to Lync 2010 backend appears not download the contact list completely. Lync 2010 clients are all operating normally.  On Lync 2010 client, you can view all contact details including Enterprise Voice
numbers and cell numbers for all users. However on Lync 2013 clients, Lync contact details for some users do not populate completely. In most cases, Enterprise numbers/Work Numbers/Mobile Numbers are missing.  If the contact is pinned then the details
    are retrieved.
In cases where Work/Voice/Cell numbers are not displayed, affected users is limited to making lync to lync  calls only. The user can still dial the number  and get through without any issues.
I have deleted and contacts cache on Lync 2013 but this has not helped.

    Hi,
How about check the contact of “Outlook Test” user from the Lync 2010 client?
According to the second screenshot, since it’s an external account, the information will be limited.

  • Normalization rules seem to be used but ipPhone telephone number not appearing in contact cards

We keep our CUCM-style telephone numbers in the AD ipPhone attribute.  The format is 000-0000.
I have added a normalization rule to Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt to make these E.164-ish and to add a prefix (3) that we use to route calls from Lync to CUCM.
Testing both with abserver.exe and observing a trace,  the rule is being applied correctly.
    args[1]: 824-2072
    824-2072 -> tel:+38242072
Matching Rule in Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt on line 19
            ^(8\d{6})$
    Component: ABServer
    Function: Contact.AddAttribute
    (ABServer,Contact.AddAttribute:contact.cs(317))(0000000036D00C4F)Id: 13  Name: ipPhone  Value: tel:+38242072
However,  I still don't see this +38242072 in the contact card.   I tried looking in the rtcab.dbo.AbAttributeValue table and I also don't see any ipPhone (ID 13) values there.
I looked in absconfig.exe and the "Include phone number value that is currently present in AD for the phone attributes" option is selected (first choice).
Should I instead be using "Use normalization rules and include normalized number"?

There are still a few folks where the numbers aren't being published as expected.  To review,  we have this normalization rule:
    ## Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt
    ## 824-2072 -> 3-8242072
    (8\d{6})
    3-$1
and these two users (LDIF format):
dn: CN=User with incorrect Lync contact data
    telephoneNumber: +1 (123) 456-5009
    otherTelephone: +1 (123) 456-5009
    ipPhone: 810-5009
    mobile: +1 (123) 533-5009
dn: CN=User with correct Lync contact data
    telephoneNumber: +1 (123) 456-5034
    otherTelephone: +1 (123) 456-5034
    ipPhone: 810-5034
    mobile: +1 (123) 533-5034
The "good" user ends up with this "other" attribute (as seen from a dbimpexp.exe dump:
    <phone type="other">
    <readOnly>true</readOnly><displayString>810-5034</displayString>
    <uri>tel:3-8105034;phone-context=enterprise</uri>
    </phone>
The "bad" user ends up with the E.164 number repeated.
    <phone type="other">
    <readOnly>true</readOnly>
    <displayString>+1 (123) 456-5009</displayString>
    <uri>tel:+11234565009</uri>
    </phone>
Where else should I be looking to figure out this inconsistency?

  • Double-clicking on Sender name to view full contact card

Just upgraded to Outlook 2013 with Lync 2013, and so far I hate it.  In Outlook 2007, when I opened an email I could double-click on the sender's name and pull up its full contact card with all of the information that I had entered before, including
their picture or company logo.  Now in the 2013 version, I get some light-weight pop-up showing some of the sender's info and either no picture or the picture that they included in Lync.  Is there any way of restoring the full contact card?  Also,
is there any way to get the Reading Pane to show by default the picture that I assigned to that contact?

    Hi,
When I click on the sender's name in an email, it opens the Outlook Properties dialog instead of the full contact editing form.
If you want to open the full Contact Form in Outlook 2013, you can click on the View Source link of the Contact Card, and click the source

  • Contact card showing differently based on device used

We are using Lync 2103 full client through O365.  On my desktop computer running Windows 7, the contact card populates all information for the user.  On a Surface Pro running Windows 8, the contact card is missing information like Work phone #,
View Source, Bldg, and Title. It seems like on the Surface Pro, Lync is not obtaining information from SharePoint. Any thoughts on this?  It appears to be this way for all Surface Pro's. Not sure if it is a Windows 8 issue or what.
    Thanks for any insight.
    JARED

it looks like I figured out the issue.  My Outlook was corrupted and would not open.  Apparently Lync pulls contact information from Outlook. Once I got Outlook working, Lync pulled the contact information.

  • Contact card in mac messages not showing picture

One of my contacts in Messages on Yosemite just shows the initials instead of their contact picture.
When I click on the name in the right pane in Messages, I can select "Show Contact Card".
The Contact Card also shows the initials in place of the contact image.
In the contact card, I click Open With Contacts.
The Contacts app opens and shows me the user's address book card, which shows the contact has a picture assigned.
The user in Messages is referred to by their email address *****@aol.com.
The email address and phone number for this user do not have duplicate entries in my contacts.
Other users do not have this issue.

The user had more than one instance of the same email. Apparently that confused Messages. When I removed one of them, the image showed just fine as expected.
