Absolutely cannot upgrade/restore 3G to 3.1

At one time I had 3.1 installed on my 3G. Then I attempted to upgrade to 3.1.2. At this time I received the friendly 1002 error and my phone went into a perpetual restore cycle. iTunes would tell me it dedected a phone in restore mode, I would try to restore it, and then I would get another error and the process would start over.
I took the phone to an Apple store to have it looked at. That was a waste of time. I was basically told that the phone is screwed up (well DUH. "probably something with the RAM" they say. Well I say why can I go back to 3.0, but can't go to 3.1.2? "Uhh, probably because there is something in 3.1.2 that isn't in 3.0". Again, DUH. Why could I get to 3.1 originally? Whatever. I just left.)
I've downloaded the 3.1.2, 3.1, and 3.0 IPSW files and have used the option key + restore trick to choose each of those restore files individually. Only the 3.0 restore will be successful.
If I attempt to bring that 3.0 phone up to 3.1 or 3.1.2 I'll get the error and have to start all over again.
When this first occurred, I also did the hold home and power button, release power, and continue to hold home for 10 seconds thing. I'm pretty sure I did it right because at the time I was using a Windows computer and iTunes would beep.
I've tried these restores from both a Mac and a PC.
I'd really like to get the phone up to 3.1.2 and probably just keep it there until the next iPhone comes out next summer-ish. Any ideas?

As stated in the other thread on this topic you can't restore a 2007 backup to 2010, it needs to be upgraded.

IPhone shuts off when I use the internet on the 3G network & I can't upgrade/restore because of network connection error. Any Help?

A few months ago, while on the 3G network, my iPhone 3GS starting turning off randomly when I was using safari or an online app and the battery was somewhere around 5-20%. When this happened the only way to get the phone back on was by fully charging it which sometimes took a few hours even. It wasn't a big deal at the time because it was infrequent and while the phone was at a low battery %. However, in the past few months, around the time I upgraded to iOS 5.1 it started happened more and more often and at higher and higher battery percentages. It is now at a point where my phone shuts off every time I connect to the 3G network regardless of what my battery life is. I have called Rogers several times to complain about this and I have been told it is because of the battery for the most part but I don’t buy it; the problem has got to be more significant than the battery alone because I can listen to music and send texts at anytime and fully use the internet when I am connected to Wi-Fi. I more recently talked to someone in tech support from Rogers who said my phone cannot support the iOS 5.1 software and that is why it is crashing. They also asked if my phone was heating up more now than in the past and it is. They said this was further evidence that my phone was couldn't handle the new software and was basically on overload. I was told to the best solution was to "Back Up" my iPhone then do a full "Restore". Here is where my next problem comes along. I cannot "Restore" my iPhone without doing an upgrade and every time I attempt to "Upgrade & Restore" an error message pops up that says "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "...". The network connection timed out/was reset. -Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later". I have followed all of the protocol that is readily available online to address this problem but still no success. I disabled my firewall and anti-virus programs, I have ensured my connection is active and stable, I have upgraded to the newest iTunes, I have uninstalled iTunes and all apple programs in the correct order then reinstalled iTunes, I have disabled my DNS cache. Nothing works.
If you have any advise whatsoever please share as it would be greatly appreciated.

I was actually able to upgrade to the newest software, iOS 5.1.1 without connecting to my computer/iTunes but rather directly through my phone when I was home on Wi-Fi. After the upgrade I plugged my phone into a different USB port at the back of my computer and was able to do a full restore. I really don't think the USB port had anything to do with it because I use the same front USB port all the time with my external hard drive and other devices wuth no problems at all; regardless of what the actual solution was, I am now able to connect to iTunes and upgrade/restore without any problems so that half of my problem is resolved.
I have yet to leave my house since doing the upgrade/restore so I am not sure if the problem with my phone crashing when I use the interent on the 3G is still an issue. I will test it today and tomorrow and give you an update.

G500 - Cannot upgrade to Windows 8.1

Hello there,
I got my brand new Lenovo G500 i5-3230M last week and I cannot upgrade to Windows 8.1
The procedure works fine until the Microsoft and Skydrive Registration part but when it reboots I only get a blank screen.
I've tried this 3 times on a clean Windows 8 installation with all Windows Updates installed and I always get the same.
I've been told by a colleague of mine that it might have to do with the ATI RADEON 8570M graphics card and its drivers incompatibility with Windows 8.1 but I'd like a more expert opinion.
Please guide me on what I need to do to go through with the upgrade. Thank you very much

I am fixing this computer for a friend and it make me wished he has bought a Mac. Its ridiculous how somethig as simple as an update can worked so wrong....
Anyhow:
After some searching in the web I was able to fix this problem.
First you have to load windows in Safe mode
This is done by pressing f8 during bootup
Then you will find a menu giving you different options for loading restore points. It was under three options of menu (which I dont really remember, may be something like boot mode) but it clearly stated "Safe Mode"
After that I get was able to get in windows, wnt to control panel, System, System, Device Manager and disable Intel HD Graphics
Reboot the system in normal mode and it worked.
Sadly I have many devices errors in my Lenovo Solution Center
I will try to find the drivers and keep you posted

Cannot upgrade my OS to the latest version ( Z10)

Hi Guys,
i bought a blackberry Z10 OS veriosn 10.0.10.672 and im facing lotta of issues like :
- Map isnt working ( it fails to open with "Map Data is currently not available in your countery " Msg )
- Word substitution option is not working at all
- The worst thing im facing that it reboots from time to another without any alerts !!
I knew that there is a newer version which is OS 10.1 but i cannot upgrade to that version , i tried Link , softwar upgrade option in settings and tried to upgrade from blackberry official site but all but i couldn't , All says that i have the most recent update while im not !!!
Also i tried to restore to factory settings using link to fix this , but even after that restore it failed to upgrade
Kindly advise ASAP as its really horrible to face all of this in the 1st week only !!

Make sure you have the latest version of BlackBerry Link installed.
Connect your BlackBerry 10 device. Once it's recognized by BlackBerry Link, click the gear icon to access the settings page.
From here you should see the option to reload device software. Click the button to start the process. Your device may reboot a time or two in between.
If any new software is found, you'll see a prompt and can begin the installation. As above, make sure you backed up your device first and you have some time to kill as the update will take a while.

Cannot upgrade applications - get error about permissions

since upgrading to 10.7 I cannot upgrade any application without the same errormessage.
I try to upgrade the application, tell the system to replace the existing application, give it the admin credentials, .. and get the error message that the task cannot be finished, some objects were omitted... Please check Permisions...
All Permissions should be ok. I did the permissions check and repair without solving the problem.
As Workaround I have to delete the old application and then install the new version... but this is strange and I cannot understand this.
Did anyone else have the same issue? Anyone have a solution or hint?

Choose re-install OS X. This will be an install "in place" and shouldn't effect any of your data, only system files.

Help, cannot upgrade to Windows 10 on Lenovo Y50-70

Hello everyone, I'm using a Y50-70. From yesterday until now, I cannot upgrade it to Windows 10. I'm using Windows 8.1 Single Language shipped with it. I've tried many ways: - Use wuauclt.exe /updatenow to force Windows Update download Windows 10. After few minutes "Preparing for installation", it says "Update failed. Please try again" - Use Media Creation Tool to update. I tried to choose "Upgrade this PC", no luck. Always generic error "Windows 10 installation has failed" When I choose to create USB bootable disc, I run setup and after processing to 24%, it stopped with same error "Something happened". - Follow other suggestions, I've changed Region in Control Panel to "English (United States)". Same error again. - Even when I downloaded original ISO from Microsoft website and create a bootable USB, it always "Something happened". No more info. These things are driving me mad. Anyone has successfully upgrade your Y50-70 to Windows 10, please help or share your way to do. Thank you very much.

This is kind of disconcerting. I did the reserve and did ALL the latest 8.1 updates and then finally my Windows 10 said it was ready. I read an article that said to right click on the box window that appears when you reserve and then choose check your upgrade status and after that loads, you can also check your compatability report to make sure there are no compatibility issues. I have done all that. I have also backed up all important files to an external HDD in case of failure. I don't know if any of the above will help the OP, but it may list any possible compatibility issues. Maybe your original version of Windows 8.1 is not activated? you can go to Control Panel > System to see that your copy of windows is indeed activated as if not activated, it may cause a failure. That could be a good reason to use the OKR feature. Lastly, seeing that you are overseas, is your 8.1 version a US English version of Windows? If not, perhaps that is why all the tools are failing because maybe you have to download and install whatever previous type installation you had before with Windows 8.0/8.1? I would think performing the Compatibility check as described above may tell you if you are trying to update with a wrong version? Just a thought. Now then, speaking of OKR or other possible problems updating such as I read the latest BIOS update could also cause failures, but specifically speaking about OKR, there are numerous threads out there with all kinds of advice, etc but for me it is too much information and some information may be outdated. So I have a few questions maybe someone can help me BEFORE I leap into the Win 10 arena? 1. I know after upgrading to Win 10, I have supposedly 1 month to downgrade back to 8.1 using the Windows downgrade function. The biggest quuestion I have is, will upgrading to Windows 10 delete my OKR option? 2. I have the Y50-70 Touch UHD with 500 GB SSD. What is the best method of backing up the OKR media for just in case? I have seen several cloning programs mentioned and the Pendrive thread, but I am just wondering what is the best and safest way to ensure the OKR works.I have a 2 TB external HDD I am currently using to perform manual backups with so maybe I could clone the SSD and if so, best software option? 3. Or is the OKR really not necessary if I have the Windows Media Creator tool on the USB drive (I have one for Win 8.1 and one for Win 10)? Is using the Media Creator Tool method better or worse than using OKR? 4. Lastly, in case of catastrophic failure, are discs available from Lenovo? I have found nowhere in the support section that mentions being able to purchase recovery discs and no, my Novo button does not give an option to burn my own discs. All I can do is make a System image file backup and honestly, I don't even understand that. Does that system image file then restore my OKR if I choose to restore from that system image? I'm sorry for so many questions but as I stated there are so many threads on the partitioning issues and restoring OKR and the DIY Pendrive thread to me is very confusing and seems to contradict itself in several steps. I just want to be certain of having a functioning computer if the update fails or I end up with the BSOD. This is my first time using a computer with UEFI and OKR that does NOT allow the burning of recovery files. I have gone through all the WIN 10 FAQs but they do not address these issues. Anyways, thanks in advance if anyone has any answers to my disjointed and probably silly questions. This is another reason I would like to know if the OKR will still function, just in case I lose my screen during update. lol

Cannot upgrade BIOS on Satellite P30-145

Hi anyone,
just inherited a P30-145 notebook,cannot upgrade the bios.When I run the file, I get the message" bios upgrade rom wrong size!"and then the installer shuts off. How do I upgrade? I'm doing everything right according to the website.
Just one thing, the original restore disk was not available, so I installed a standard XP and upgraded drivers as necessary from the Toshiba site.

The BIOS is for Satellite P30 PSP30U. It the same series like the European notebook series PSP30E.
Download the exe file and save it on desktop. Then create an folder and unzip the sp35v14.exe file to this new created folder.
Now go to this folder and inside this folder you will find some files.
Read the readme.txt file to get full instruction how to update the BIOS.

Why do you need to restore your iPod to resync your content back over to it from your iTunes library? You should just be able to configure the content to sync to your device as you did before this problem occurred.

I cannot upgrade from iOS 5.-01 to 5.1 on original iPad

My wife and I both have iPads running 5.0.1. Mine is v2 and hers is v1. We both have Macs with 10.7.3 and iTunes 10.6.
When I tried upgraded to 5.1 throguh iTunes I got messages saying I could not connect to the server. A friend suggested I reboot the iPad and my Mac. I did and the upgrade went fine.
I cannot upgrade my wife's iPad, however. Even after rebooting I get an error saying iTunes cannot download the upgrade because her computer is not hooked up to the internet. It is, however. I can access the iTunes store, use Safari, and get e-mail. I then tried to download the upgrade directly through the iPad but after a few minutes I get a message saying the updte failed.
Any suggestions?

Problem solved. I upgraded after switching a cable. Not sure why that mattered but all is fine now.
