AC Adapter/ Elitebook 8730W -Can I use 200W safely?

I have an EliteBook 8730w laptop. It comes with an external 120 watt or 150 watt Smart AC adapter.
A friend gave me a replacement 200W AC Adapter which was originally for the 8740w. It fits my 8730w but is it safe to use as its a higher wattage than the original?

Hi:
You probably should call HP support and ask them.
I can give you my opinion, which is, it probably would be OK. It is also a smart A/C adapter and should quit charging your battery when it senses it is fully charged.
The wattage shouldn't matter. Your notebook will put less of a strain on the 200 W adapter than it did on the 150W one.
You may even want to touch the adapter to see how warm it gets. It would think it would get less warm than a 150W adapter since there is less demand on the 200W one.

  • Can I use Java safely?

I just got a brand new mac mini 2 weeks ago, saw the news of Flashback, I've done all the updates which includes the Flashback removal tool?
Will I be able to use Java safely?

As long as you have Java disabled in Safari, you
will be safe.  The malware exploits require Java to
be active to do their nastiness.  If Java is disabled,
the nasty program will not be executed.
If you require Java for certain websites, ones that
you trust, enable Java and restart Safari then go to that
site, then disable it when you are done.  This is the only
way to use it "safely".  As with any of these sort of
exploits, someone always finds a way to work around
    protection eventually.
Best protection is never download or install anything you
didn't ask for and always install saftware downloaded from
    the vendor site.

  • Can we use FILE IO in File Adapter ? If not, Why?

    Hello,
I want to clarrify one important issue of FIle Adapter.
Can we use FILE I/O in case of File  Adapter to process the files.
PLease explain me with a reason and a sample example.
    Thanks,
    Soorya.

I think you can handle File IO in Java Mapping by using
public void execute(InputStream in, OutputStream out)
// Here You can desired the output from source XML structure by using SAX/DOM parser to Target XML file.

  • Can I use a mini display port to VGA adapter and then a VGA to av adapter to connect my MacBook pro to my standard definition tv?

Can I use a mini display port to VGA adapter and then a VGA to av adapter to connect my MacBook pro to my standard definition tv?

No. You need a converter box like this to go with your MDP-VGA adapter:

Drag applications from your main desktop off the right side of the screen and they will appear on the TV.  This is the extended desktop mode.

  • Can I use a Macbook Pro extender (125V, 2.5A) to extend my 60W MagSafe adapter?

I am in India and I have a 60W MagSafe Adapter which I run without any problems as adapter supports 100-240V (India runs on 230V - https://www.google.com/webhp?#q=india+voltage)
I have a Volex extender that I'd love to use but I am not sure if I can use it in India as it has the following details printed on it 2.5A 125V. Can I use it without using any voltage converter or am I good to go?
    Thanks

The PSU has the following operating range.
    Electrical and Operating Requirements
Line voltage: 100V to 240V AC
    Frequency: 50Hz to 60Hz
    Operating temperature: 50° to 95° F (10° to 35° C)
    Storage temperature: –13° to 113° F (–24° to 45° C)
Relative humidity: 0% to 90% noncondensing
    Maximum operating altitude: 10,000 feet
    Maximum storage altitude: 15,000 feet
    Maximum shipping altitude: 35,000 feet
I am not familiar with with the Volex product you mention, but you state that spec is for 125V use. Try getting an adapter that fits the plug on your PSU and fits the outlet in India.

  • I am using my Ipad on a remote craftshow site and am having problems with battery lasting 8 hrs. Can I use a 12v rv battery to recharge it or atleast maintain the charg over longer periods of time? I have a dc adapter. thanks

I am using my Ipad on a remote craftshow site and am having problems with battery lasting 8 hrs. Can I use a 12v rv battery to recharge it or at least maintain the charge over longer periods of time? I have a dc adapter. thanks

You should be able to use the battery if you get a car type charger which recharges mobile devices.
The full size iPads use a 10-12W charger, whereas the mini uses a 5W charger. Many car chargers only supply 5W. But at 5W, the car charger should give you some extra time on your iPad. It would be best to use a 10-12W car charger.

  • Can I use the Apple ADC to DVI adapter with a VGA monitor?

    Hey everybody,
I have a quick question. I work on computers fr friends and family as a hobby. I have an ADC monitor and need ot be able to hook up computers with a VGA port on them to it. Can I use the Apple ADC to DVI adapter along with an Apple DVI to VGA adapter to successfully connect VGA computers to my ADC display? I was assuming this would work and ordered both adapters but now I have made myself nervous about weather or not this will actually work. Has anybody out there successfully done this? Thanks for your help in advance everybody.

You can't run an ADC display with a VGA computer without a converter. Adapters won't do it.
a VGA to ADC converter will drive the ADC display directly
    <http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=1301>
If you have the Apple DVI to ADC adapter
    <http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=18 72D402&nplm=M8661LL/B>
you could use it with a VGA to DVI converter
    <http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=1310>
It might be cheaper to get DVI graphics boards for the computers and use the Apple DVI to ADC adapter.
    <http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=18 72D402&nplm=M8661LL/B>
Your title says "Can I use the Apple ADC to DVI adapter with a VGA monitor?". If you want to connect a VGA monitor to a computer's ADC port you need the ADC to VGA adapter
<http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=1299> You can't use an ADC to DVI adapter followed by a DVI to VGA adapter, because the ADC to DVI adapter doesn't pass the analog video signals needed for VGA.

  • Can I use the new Apple Thunderbolt  to Firewire adapter to download video from a video camera by firewire to my Macbook Air ?

Can I use the new Apple Thunderbolt  to Firewire adapter to download video from a video camera by firewire to my Macbook Air ?

Yes, you can use the 85 watt adaptor. You cannot use the new adaptors because your computer is not equipped with the proper MagSafe connector. But you can use the older MBP adaptors as well as a 60 watt replacement adaptor. All can be found at Apple's Online Store.

No.  ThunderBolt is a direct connection to your systems PCI Express bus.  There is no way for your existing ports to do this with any sort of external adapter.

    Hi,
Nowadays laptop chargers can be used for normal electricity around the world (110V to 250V). All we need is a small plug adapter similar the the ones we use to travel overseas. Most electrical shops, travel agents and airports ... sell them.
    Regards.

  • Can we use single DB Adapter for multiple tables

    Hi,
I have 3 tables. ONE is the Master table and other 2 tables having Primary and foreign key relationships with the Master Table.
Data is enter in the Tables 2 & 3 (based on Master Table Primary key)
I have to use a DB Adapter in BPEL Process which will be in Transaction (what type of Transaction is Best in such a Scenario).
    - How do i implement it in BPEL.
    - Can i use a Single DB Adapter for Multiple Tables ? (*Views* should not be created for tables 1, 2 & 3),
as we want to avoid using multiple DB Adapters, as in future Tables may increase or decrease...
    - while in Transaction if Table 2 fails in Inserting / Updating, it should roll back on error and also if Table 3 fails in Inserting / Updating, it should roll back table 2 and Table 3.
    - how access to concurrent users is maintained / managed in such a scenarios.
But everything should be done using Single DB Adapter without creating a separate view.
    Is this Possible in BPEL..
If not, How do we design, Implementation such a BPEL Process in Transaction with a best in Performance (both BPEL Process & DB Resources)
    thanks in advance
    thanks & regards,
    anvv sharma

    Hi,
    Thanks for your quick response.
    I have few quires.
If we use PL/SQL, how do we implement transaction and Exception Handling appropriately based on the Error / Exception in BPEL.
If the Table 2 or Table 3 gives out Error / Exception, i have to handle it separately and intimate accordingly.
Suppose, if Table 2 got Error / Exception - Error Handling would be 'Roll back due to error in Table2'
    Thanks & regads,

  • Can I use my I-phone with 220 volt with only a plug in prong adapter or do I need a voltage converter?

can I use my I-phone with 220 volt (China) with only a prong adapter, or do I need a votlage converter as well. Unit purchased and used in USA.

The iPhone charger is a world charger, no voltage converter needed. All you might need is a plug adapter, but that's it. Your charger will work fine & no worries about frying your phone as suggested by the orther poster who has no idea what he/she is talking about.

Due to the kind of plug used the US power cord is rated at the 125v value.. and legally we cannot advise you to use on higher voltages.. although I have never had issues in Australia.. 240v.
But adapters from your Euro power plug to US are generally ugly .. unsightly things.. and often sit high above the socket and are none too stable.. I agree with Bob.. just go out and buy a standard figure 8 power cord.. check with Apple in Italy for a white one.. if you are going to have it on show.. black are far more common. Or even check ebay for a standard power Apple power cord as a number of items they sell use the figure8 socket.

  • What PCI card to USB adapter can I use on my Satellite C

    Hi
My remaining working USB port has now deceased and I am stuck as I can no longer print (more importantly the kids can't print their homework!!) From the little understanding I have found out that I can either get the mother board replaced (expensive so not an option!) or get a *card adapter with USB ports* on it that goes in the card reader at the front of the laptop??
Does anyone know exactly what I am to buy as it all looks rather complicated to me!!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated! many thanks, Kerry.

    Hi Kerry
Can you please tell us more about your Toshiba notebook?
Which model do you have exactly?
Have you tested functionality of all USB ports?
    How old is your notebook?
I mean if the warranty is still valid contact nearest Toshiba service and ask for help?
Do you have new printer with WLAN inside. If yes you can print using WLAN connection.
