AC Adapter for Palm m500 cradle

Wanting to reactivate my older m500, I am confused which of several of my AC chargers is the proper one.  Is it the one with an output of 9V AC 1000mA??  Other information on this charger is ENG Direct Plug-in Class 2 transformer, model 41A-9-1000 EIA 172 9330 D, made in China and "Indoor use only".
Not willing to do the "smoke test", your input is very appreciated.

The one I'm looking at now (for my M515) is listed at 5.0vdc at 1000mA.
9vac is definitely Wrong!
Most Palms use 5.x volts DC to charge with.

    Hello DiegoK and welcome to the forums......
    I would try going into safe mode and following the instructions below.
    You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something
    happens. You can find your data files by going to C:\Program Files\Palm or
    Palm One. Highlight your Palm Desktop username and right click and copy.
    Then go to your PC desktop, right click on a blank spot and select paste.
    Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove everything that has to do
    with Palm Desktop from your computer. Like the above folder, delete the Palm folder. Once this is done,
    you will need to delete some registry keysfrom your PC Operating System registry.
    Word of warning, going here and deleting the wrong thing can cause your PC
    to not start up, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel
    you are unsure of yourself, see if you have a friend that can help you or a
    PC technician that you can pay to help you. This will show them everything
    they need to delete. To retain your current Registry settings, we need to do a backup of the Registry.
    On the PC, go to start and run type "regedit" without quotes
    Highlight MY COMPUTER, go to File --> export. Should pop up with a Save As
    box. Current location is fine should be in My Documents or you can change to a location you will remember.
     In the file name box, type "Regbackup[todaysdate]" i.e. Regbackup07072008. Next, the hard part.
    The easiest way to make sure your working with the correct key, highlight the key i.e. palm quick install,
    and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you, are you sure. Say yes. Do the same thing for all keys below.
    If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician.
    BUT do not turn off your computer.
    The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of theses reg keys will not be here
    but if they are delete them)
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm
    Next reboot your computer
    Then reinstall your Palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If it asks
    you for a username and you synced your device before, put in 'test" if you
    did not sync before you create a hotsync name.

  • The wall adapter for the palm pre charger

    can the wall adapter for charging the palm pre also be used with an ipod touch charge cord? both are usb ends that can plug into the wall adapter

    Standard warning label caveat: You CAN use these chargers interchangeably as long as both devices use micro USB technology, and not mini USB. (Basically don't force the charger in the charging port.) However, it is recommended that you only use chargers and equipment designed for and that came with your device.

  • "Port In Use" error message when trying to sync Palm m500 to Windows Vista machine

    An error message on my Palm displays "Error: Serial Port in Use (Serial 0307)" when I try to sync my Palm m500 to my Windows Vista (32 bit) Home Basic machine. It worked until about 3 months ago and I don't have a restore point that far back to try System Restore. I've upgraded to Palm Desktop 6.2.2 (was using 4.xx) and downloaded the PalmHotSyncSetup from Pimlico Software but nothing helps. Any ideas are appreciated.
    Post relates to: Palm m500

    I would try connecting the Palm's cradle, with the Palm in it, to your PC and then, in Device Manager, right-clicking on Palm Handheld #2 and selecting Uninstall Driver.  Palm Handheld/Palm Handheld #1 could be visible if you connect the Palm to USB port you may have tried using perviously.
    After uninstalling Palm Desktop, reboot the PC, make sure Palm Desktop 6.2.2 is installed (since you are using Vista) and then try reconnecting the Palm.
    One last thing: Make sure that you are using a 32-bit version of Windows.  There is no 64-bit USB driver support from Palm or ACCESS.  If you do have a 64-bit version of Windows Vista installed, that would clearly explain why you are having so much trouble getting your m500-series PDA to sync. This thread tells you how to check for a 32 or 64-bit install of Windows.

  • Driver for my m500

    Do you have a driver for your m500 to a computer with a Vista Ultimate 64 bit operating system?
    Post relates to: Palm m500

    Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
    There are no 64 bit USB drivers for any Palm OS devices.  The forums are full of threads about Vista 64-bit issues, in the Windows Hotsync board.
    To try to sync your m500, you would need to try using an IRDA (Infrared) adapter on your computer to use beaming, along with the Palm Desktop 6.2 and a freeware utility PalmHotsyncSetup from www.pimlicosoftware.com which makes Palm Desktop 6.2 compatible with older Palm devices.  If you were to upgrade your handheld to an E2 or a TX, you could also use Bluetooth (E2 and TX) or Wi-Fi (TX only) to Hotsync.

    View Solution.

    You gen purchase a Palm V/Vx battery for about $3 from the same site.  To open the V-series PDAs, you have to heat up the glue that is holding the top and bottom metal plates together.  If you really want to try and open the device, you can use a blow dryer and try heating up the back edges to try and separate it from the front place to gain access to the battery. You may want to see if you can pay the vendor/website to do the maintenance for you.

  • Sync Palm m500 to Mac OS 10.4.3. Possible?

    I've just moved from using Mac OS 10.3.9 to 10.4.3 and I'd like to sync my "old" Palm m500 to it. With the previous OS I had Conduit manager v 3.2 and I could sync with no problems whatsoever. Now I wonder if I can sync Palm m500 with Tiger. I've been checking in Palm and Apple sites but I haven't found any useful information. Reading some of your comments in the forum I realize I might have problems using the new version of isync. On top of that I know my Palm is not precisely the latest model, but it works so well I don't fancy buying a new one. Can somebody help? Thanks.
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Palm recommends that for the m500 series of handheld organizers, that you install the Palm Desktop 4.2.1 version A, available here:
    http://www.palm.com/us/support/macintosh/macdesk421.html
    With this handheld, you need not first install software from the CD-ROM that was supplied with your device, as it does not contain unique software for your device.
    After installing the Palm Desktop, Apple recommends that you first synchronize with it prior to configuring and using iSync. Once you've done that, launch iSync and select Enable Palm OS Syncing… from the Devices menu, and follow the instructions which appear. At the conclusion of this step, your device will appear in iSync. You can then press the Palm icon in its main window to drop down a configuration pane, which lets you specify how iSync interacts with specific contact groups and calendars.
    If you intend to synchronize with other devices, including .Mac, you should also open the Preferences… dialog under the iSync menu, and check or enable all three options under the General tab. Then, each time you synchronize, you should…
    • launch iSync
    • select Sync Now from beneath the Sync Status icon in your menu bar, and
    • press you HotSync button when prompted to do so by the dialog
    And, when you've successfully done all this - and find youself unhappy with the manner in which iSync performs - you should consider purchasing and installing the far more flexible, robust, feature-rich and reliable synchronization software from Mark/Space: The Missing Sync for Palm OS. More information about that package is available here:
    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php
    One caution: The Missing Sync for Palm OS should be installed only after you have successfully synchronized at least once with both the Palm Desktop and with iSync.

  • Problem when trying to sync with Palm Centro phone and Palm m500

    I just purchased a Palm Centro phone and have had no problem when I try to sync the phone with the Palm software on the computer, however, my wife has an older Palm m500 and all her contacts are on her Palm, but they don't show up on the Palm Desktop software.  Is there something we're doing wrong?  All the dates show up on her desk top and everything in my phone shows up on my desktop, only her contacts are empty.
    Post relates to: Centro (Verizon)

    It is likely that your wife's older device (with Legacy two-word PIMs) is incompatible with the Access Desktop/Hotsync for Verizon Centros as I believe it has only the new Extended (one-word) PIM conduits. If you are running XP you might be able to use a download of 4.1.4e. Suggest you search the Hotsync forum to see if the Centro can use this version of Hotsync (I don't have a Centro).

  • Windows 7 and Palm m500

    I have read other messages on this board, but I still cannot get my m500 series Palm to sync with my 64-bit version of Windows 7.  I have tried using XP mode, but my device was not recognized under the USB option on the virtual desktop toolbar.  Same problem with the Aceeca drivers - my device was never recognized.  I use a crade/cable set up to sync the Palm to the computer.  Any ideas???
    Post relates to: Palm m500

        There are others using the m500 with the Aceeca driver. I need more details on your problem. What desktop version are you attempting to use. Have you attempted to use more than one version of the palm desktop and not done a clean uninstall of the previous versions. Here is an example of what should transpire while installing the Aceeca file if you already had the palm desktop 4.1.4 installed.
    1: Download the Aceeca driver and unzipp it.
    2: Turn on and hook up your device to the computer.
    3: Go to the device manager and look for palm, there should be some kind of yellow symbol next to it. This will only happen if your m500 is hooked up and powered on.
    4: At this point you right click on palm and update driver, choose browse for and find the Aceeca driver and select and install it.
    5: When it installs it will show up in device manager as ACEECA Handheld Device.
        I have no idea what is going on unless you tell me and you may have none all of this or not. Be persistent with this problem. Most people have success on the first try others not. If you have the Aceeca driver installed and are using palm desktop 6.2.2 you may be able to hotsync but none of the info will show up. In this case you will need another free app to get the 6.2.2 to communicate with your legacy device. So give us more info and more detail.

  • Http connection for Palm OS4x

    any way to do this for Palm 125?
    (connection to PC is via USB)
    can i confirm that can use mochasoft if its via serial?
    anyone got any idea if its for USB connection?
    thanks in advance

    I have the same problem.
    I have a laptop with only USB connection, no built in com ports.
    It is configured as follow:
    -Internal 56K modem is mapped in com3.
    -I have a virtual COM1 port from a USB-COM adapter, and there I have connected a PalmIIIc
    -I have a ADSL modem connected to the USB
    The best goal would be surfing the web through the ADSL modem...is it just a dream?
    The second possibility would be the connection through the 56K modem.
    This would be a COM to COM operation and it should be possible.
    ....it should!!
    I have tried mochasoft, pilotnet and pilot redirector with the same result: Modem error (no data recived).
    Any idea?
