AC Adapter for Toshiba Satellite M40X-129

Hello guys,
hope this is the correct forum to post my question in:
I have a Toshiba Satellite M40X-129 (Model No: PSM4XE-01600CGR). My AC-Adapter is buggered so I need to get a new one. Bought the machine in Germany, am now in Tasmania / Australia. Being in a remote area camp till April, I wont be able to go to a shop with my laptop to try and or figure out, what AC Adapter is suitable. We do have internet here as our only communication form, so it is quite important for me to sort that out.
Can anyone tell me, what kind of Adapter / power supply is suitable or where to look it up?
The one Ive been using before is a LITEON, Part No.: PA3432U-1AC3, Model No.: PA-1750-09, Input: 100-240V, 50-60Hz, 1.5A, Output: 19V, 3.95A.
Thanks for your help and have a nice day
Peter

Thanks for your answer Andrej.
Being in a remote area camp, I cant go to the shop with my old adapter, but I can get someone for me to go the shop, buy (or order) the adapter and chuck it on the next supply chopper.
I sent all the details posted above to my favorite shop and the lady answered me, as my laptop is an overseas one, it might be possible that the ones they have dont fit. Now I read about plug sizes etc. and thought I could send her some more information to verify, if the stuff they got in stock will do the job for my lap.

  • Error and Warning after/before POST - Satellite M40X-129

    Hi there,
    I use a Satellite M40X-129, bought in 2005.
After reinstalling Windows and all the necessary drivers (after more than 3 years, that was the longest time i used a windows installation ;-)) this afternoon, i encounter the following situation when booting:
(... ram check and all the stuff....)
    System Configuration Data updated
    ERROR
0271: Check date and time settings
    WARNING
0251: System CMOS checksum bad - default configuration used
Press <F1> to resume, <F2> to Setup
When i press F1 to resume, windows is booting just fine as i'm used to it.
I also can enter setup and have to update the Time setting.
    Two scenarios:
    a) Booting windows, shutting down, rebooting: error message happens again
    b) setting time, exit bios with saving the config, booting up, fine until reboot/shutdown is necessary
I tried to download bios update to v1.60, but the setup tool told me that this version is already in use and it will not progress.
What i'm wondering: why does this happen? I don't think the battery power is low, which was suggested to other users in other threads, because it happend right after i installed chipset drivers/utils and other drivers from the toshiba download page.
    What can i do?
    - Bios update? -> Where to find a new version? A tool (which i downloaded of a site associated to Phoenix Technologies) told me there is an update available for my Bios, but it wants me to join a $29,99/year membership
    - Exchange CMOS battery? -> how to disassemble m40x-129, any tutorials? Dont want to f*ck it up...
    any other advice?
    Thanks for your help.
    best regards

    Hi
    > Does anyone have the service manual for m40x? Dont want to disassemble it without one
Unfortunately, seems such manuals are not available for public usage nothing on the Toshiba page :( seems only the authorized service partner can access such manuals
I think an CMOS battery replacement is not really expensive and could be done very fast so I think you should contact the ASP in your country and should ask for further handling I mean that its a little bit risky to disassemble a notebook without any manual and knowing how to do that exactly
Furthermore you should know that you would need a compatible battery which can be ordered only from the ASP
Sorry that I cannot help you with an manual but I think its better and safer to ask an notebook technician for assistance
    Cheers buddy

I need the drivers for my Sattelite M40X 295. WHERE FROM ???

    Hello Gott
I am not sure but I assume that Satellite M40x is not delivered with Tools & Utilities CD. If the unit is preinstalled with recovery DVD you can create Tools CD alone. This option you can find in TOSHIBA Assist under option Protect & Fix.

Instructions for changeing to from Windows 8 to windows 7.
    INSTRUCTIONS:
First - Burn recovery media before you make any changes! -You may want or need to go back to windows 8 later-
Update BIOS to newest bios version, the C55 and possibly other models will not support CSM boot mode with the older bios versions.
    Second -
Important Bios changes when changing from Windows 8 to Windows 7:
Completely shut down laptop (Shut down Windows 8 while pressing the Shift key to completely power off.) then restart computer and hold f2 when the screen goes black and wait for the bios setup utility to launch.
Select advanced, then system configuration, then boot mode
UEFI and CSM or legacy  (UEFI for Windows 8 and CSM or legacy for windows 7)
For windows 7 change to CSM or Legacy mode.
Third - Also in bios setup utility select - Security, then Secure Boot, then you have to disable secure boot for windows 7.
You will need to delete all partitions before installing windows 7 this is done forth step.
Forth - Insert your windows 7 disc and select custom install, your partitions should show up - click on each one and below you will see advanced drive options, click that and you will have options to format - format each one, then delete each one. You will be left with one raw partition, select to install and windows will do the rest while installing the operating system.
    Fifth - install drivers
    Installation order is important:
Install chipset driver then video driver before other drivers. Then install Toshiba Value added package before other applications
-See attached pictures that show installed applications-

  • OpenGL driver for Toshiba Satellite C660-1J2 ?

Adobe After Effects always crash on startup.
It says it cannot initialize OpenGL and that I should contact the manufacturer of the Graphics adapter.
So I contact Intel because I got a Intel Hd Graphics adapter but they say the driver I already have is custom tuned for Toshiba. So I search on Toshiba but cannot really find any useful link.
Should I install OpenGL manually or can I disable it somehow without starting After Effect?
    How do I installOpenGl manually?
I have downloaded the latest Graphics adapter driver from you but it doesn't help.
All I want to do is to start a popular Adobe product so I believe many people have this problem.

    Hi
OpenGL is a standard API for writing software for 2D or 3D computer graphics.
OpenGL is an open source product but DirectX is released by Microsoft and mostly DirectX is part of the graphic card driver and not OpenGL.
However, you cannot download and install OpenGL to use it within the graphic card driver the OpenGL needs to be implemented in the driver
Mostly its done by graphic card manufacture.
Therefore you will need to check the Intel page to get an driver from Intel which supports OpenGL because the notebook supports the Intel (HM55) HD graphics.
This link detects which driver updates are relevant to your computer and then helps you install them quickly and easily.

  • Actual dimensions for Toshiba - Satellite Laptop A665-S6050?

    Good Morning Everyone,
    I recently purchased the Toshiba - Satellite Laptop / Intel® Core™ i3 Processor / 16" Display / 4GB Memory / 500GB Hard Drive - Slate Model: A665-S6050 | SKU: 9988697.
I would like to purchase a sleeve for this laptop, but I can't find the true dimensions online.  I don't have the laptop with me, so I can't just measure it.  The specs I'm finding online list the width as 4.2 inches.  Clearly, this is an error.
If anyone has the actual length, width, and thickness of this laptop, please reply.

  • Can't create the recovery discs for Toshiba Satellite C55-A5387 Laptop

Hello, I just got my Toshiba Satellite with Windows 8 and have barely used it. One of the first things I did was go to the TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator to make recovery discs but I get error messages when burning the DVDs.
Toward the end of burning the DVD I see this:
"Failed to read the following file.
     D:\ZZimages\ZZimages\install25.swm
    (error Code: 02014F-20-0000000)"
Or this slightly different error messages:
"Failed to read the following file.
     D:\ZZimages\ZZimages\install16.swm
    (error Code: 02014F-20-0000000)"
    Lost

If the problem is the recovery partition on your hard drive instead of the DVD's you will have to call Tech support 1-800-457-7777 , Call while you still have 90 days free tech support.

  • Satellite M40x-129 No drivers for download

The Notebook comes with WinXP Home. I installed WinXp Professional and now I am looking for drivers, because the Toshiba Site only offers 2 Bios Updates. (Unbelivable, but true)
I would be glad if someone could help me out:
I need to know exactly which Audio and Adapters are built in by Intel so I can look for them on the Intel site.
    Thanks,
    Philipp

    Hi Philipp
I think the drivers will come on the web shortly. Meanwhile you can use the Tools & Utilities CD to install the driver. All drivers are there. PLease take a look at the CD - especially the startup HTML-file. It tells you what to install and in what order (very important) to make the platform stable and 100% functioning.
    good luck

  • Toshiba Satellite A300-129 Crisis Recovery Mode Phoenix BIOS with USB drive

When flashing my BIOS back from v4.20 to a v3.90 I found on the net, everything went alright in windows, but as soon as I rebooted, the laptop showed the symptoms of a failed BIOS.
I'm now trying to repair the BIOS using the crisis recovery tool. I used the following procedure to create the USB stick and recover the BIOS
-Run the WINCRIS.Exe file in administrator and compatibility mode (Windows XP SP2)
-Select the USB drive (1GB Kingston), and format it with the tool
-Reinsert the drive and format again with the tool without restarting it to be sure that the disk is properly formatted
-Take the BL5S3D57.WPH file from the toshiba BIOS update and rename it to BIOS.WPH, and copy to the Crisdisk directory
-Copy the files BIOS.WPH (the one from toshiba I renamed), minidos.sys and winphlash16.exe to the drive in windows
    -Take the drive out
-Plug battery out, plug AC out of laptop, hold the power button for a few seconds to make sure no remaining current is in the laptop
    -Plug the USB Drive in
-Hold Fn+Esc in my case, this is the key combination where the laptop tries to read the USB drive the moment it boots up. It has something to do with enabling a boot block in the BIOS with that key combination.
-Plug AC in while still holding the F button
The F button does not nescessarily need to be held while plugging in AC, the laptop also tries to read from the drive if I hold it after plugging AC in, and before pushing the power button.
    -Press the power button
I need to push the button twice, because the first time after plugging in AC the power button doesn't do a thing. When holding the power button for around 10 seconds after right after plugging AC in, the laptop boots sometimes, didn't find a pattern yet here.
The easy thing however is to just push the button 2 or 3 times, then it boots, and the booting procedure seems exactly the same as when holding the power button
-Wait for the LED to flash on the USB Drive. Very important: it seems to only flash ONCE for me, so it means it tries to access the drive, but I think it doesn't contain the right files or isn't formatted correctly. If I keep holding the F button while the laptop is on, the LED flashes once every 10-20 seconds.
From here on out the laptop is supposed to be reading the BIOS files from the USB drive, but apparently I'm doing something wrong. So here comes my question:
What could I be doing wrong in formatting the drive or writing the files to it?
Do I have the wrong CRISDISK? Is it normal that the files arent copied by CRISDISK to the USB Drive and that I have to do it myself?
Am I using the wrong WinPhlash? Or should I use the files that are supplied in the official BIOS rar from toshiba?
I have tried different versions of CRISDISK, different USB Drives (one 4GB would not be read by the broken laptop, and another 1GB would not be read by CRISDISK when trying to format the drive)
Tried different files on the USB Drive, tried bios.wph instead of capitals, tried BIOS.FD,...
I'm kind of running out of options here to try. Is there anyone who has experience with this recovery mode flashing that could tell me what I might be doing wrong? Or that has any suggestions on which other CRISDISK or toshiba updates to use?
Thanks anyways to people who read this and try to help!

I hope that Russian service provider will be as honest as the European one and won't solder something out as a souvenir :)
They said, it will take approximately a week.
Serviceman said that L30 has no built-in crisis recovery routine.
So I wasted money by buying an USB floppy disk drive and risked to burn something in my laptop by frequent powering it on and off (and may be burnt, will see).
The lesson I learnt is never flash BIOS if everything works and if even flash then not from Windows (btw. I flashed successfully my Satellite A300 from Windows without any problems).
Phoenix makes its BIOSes since 2001 with a crisis recovery boot block, but Toshiba locks this feature in many laptops, I think, not without a reason. Service providers want money too :)

  • USB adapter for Toshiba MK6034GSX

Does anybody know where to get a USB adapter to fit this hard drive. It has blade type connectors not pins? The laptop will not boot and I'm trying to extract the info if at all possible before I try a format.

That model is a SATA hard drive and uses standard SATA connections.  The laptop manufacturer may have plug a special slot adaptor between the hard drive and interface port on the motherboard so you might have to remove that to connect it directly to a SATA connector.  Dell in notorious for doing this.
Here is what the connections side looks like on this drive as it ships from the factory.
