AC adapter has a slight split on new Toshiba unit
Hi
I just received my new Toshiba today. However I have just noticed that on the AC adapter (the end that connects to the laptop) has a slight split in it. This exposes the wires inside.
What would the best thing to do at this stage?

Well, I think the easiest way is to visit your dealer where you have bought the notebook and explain him the situation. Maybe you will get immediately a new one. The other possibility is to contact the Toshiba service partner in your country and to order the new Ac adaptor. If the warranty is valid you should get this part for free.

What is the size of your hard disk? PSE 4 is a very old program and I suspect it is not able to access the entire hard disk on your machine. Just a thought here.

LIGHTNING ADAPTER has fused to the USB port that is factory installed in my car. It will not release from the port and the port is no longer working as a result of my efforts to retrieve the USB cord. I have been an iPhone owner since the first release in 2007. I have never had a problem with my Apple products and have remained an enthusiastic, loyal customer. It is my understanding that Apple only has "extra" USB cords in Apple store. I live in a rural area without access to an Apple Store. Retailers and Carriers did not receive shipments of extra charging cords. This is unacceptable. I am absolutely at a loss because my port in my brand new car is not longer functioning and will likely have to be replaced, AT MY EXPENSE. My "Lightning" cord is literally stuck in my vehicle. My phone is currently sitting at Radioshack being charged so that I have at least a charge when I head out of town on business early tomorrow morning. Suggestions please as I am a VERY unhappy customer!

The cable of my L-shaped charger has begun to split
My 15" macbook pro which I bought from the apple store in September of last year has begun to split at the neck. Is this covered in my warranty? How do I go about getting a new one? I bought the computer when living in Ireland but now live in Montreal, Canada. Will that affect anything?
I went in today to get this same issue fixed, only to be told that it was cause by my own doing!
I was furious, I went to speak to another apple employee (not at the genius bar) who agreed me. I even spotted another mac product suffering from the same problem in the store.
I'm not sure what to do now, but this is not what I expect from Apple at all. I payed a lot of money for this laptop and I expect the charger to last longer than a year!..Even if I do use it a lot.

Satellite L770 - ethernet adapter has stopped working

I have three laptops all connectable to my home hub, but I seem to be having serious problems with the latest model, the L770-13D. The signal strength has never been as good as the older models and just recently the Ethernet adapter has stopped working. I've updated drivers on both adapters but it hasn't made any difference. I've just recently upgraded my connection and I'm wondering whether the Ethernet adapter is not correctly configured since it was working alright prior to the upgrade.
I've also tried just about every test that I can do - The Toshiba config doctor returned a FAIL on the hardware check I did, but the device manager reports that both network adapters are working OK. Also, the troubleshooting of the wireless adapter reports that there 'may be a problem' The evidence seems to be pointing towards a hardware problem with this laptop.

No I haven't tried that probably because I wouldn't know how to do it. I have a full recovery image on the data drive but I'm not comfortable with making any changes to the OS in case I mess things up. I've also got a recovery flash drive. Really, I'm out of my depth when it comes to making these sort of changes - I just thought that there may be something very simple that I'd overlooked. The machine is still under warranty, so I'll probably take it to a local computer specialist for diagnosis before involving Toshiba. If it's more than a software problem, they should earn their fees by repairing it. If you involve them and it isn't a hardware problem, they will bill you for about 80 plus carriage, so I'm naturally reluctant to do that. Also, you have to hang about waiting for delivery and collection. It may better to buy a USB/LAN adapter for about 20. Thanks for reply, anyhow. -
My old Apple ID is on my iPhone, but this has been transferred to a new Apple ID. The iCloud on my phone is requesting the password for the old Apple ID, but this no longer exists. How do I update the iCloud Apple ID on my iPhone? When I try to get the old passwork through forgot my password, the reply is that there is no account that exists.
Try the following....
Go to Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Delete Account. Then log in using a different ID. -

I have enabled home sharing in my iTunes account, put in username and password, clicked on creat etc. But the homs sharing icon doew not appear in the left side of iTunes. So I got stuck. I'm moving an internal hard drive from an old computer to a new computer. (My new compute runs Windows 8.1) How do I transfer the catalog data to my new computer so the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 will find the data on the hard that has been moved to the new computer? Is this possible or do I have to use the procedure of copying the catalog along with the photos to a back up hard drive and then restore them on the new computer?
The 'normal' procedure is to do a PSE organizer backup (not a copy or a backup from external tools) to an external drive, then a restore to the new location.
The advantage is that you have a backup of both catalog and media files and you don't have all disconnected files, which would happen with external backup tools. Also, if you restore with a more recent elements version, the catalog will be automatically updated to the new format.
The drawback in your situation is that you'll have either to overwrite all your files or restore to a custom location, creating a duplicate photo library (which supposes you have enough free space).
It would be possible to simply use the organizer in the old PC to move the catalog to a new 'custom' folder just under your C: root drive. The catalog would be accessible once the drive will be installed in the new PC. Then you would have all files 'disconnected' due to the fact that all your media files are now on a drive with a different letter. Reconnecting a whole library is a hard job with PSE6, less so with PSE11/PSE12.
If the idea of fiddling with the sqlite database with external sqlite manager tools is ok for you, I can describe the process more in detail. You only copy your catalog folder (as suggested above) to another location. Instead of trying the 'reconnection' way, you install the sqlite utility on the new computer. When the old drive is installed in the new computer, you simply edit a given record in the catalog database, catalog.psedb, and start the organizer with your copied catalog by simply double clicking the 'catalog.psedb' file.
Even if the last solution is much, much quicker, I would still create a new PSE backup : you have never too much safety . -
Sener file adapter has read/pick the files first in first out method.

In my Interface I am Using Sender as File adapter. As per my requirement Sender file adapter has to read the file from file directory. This directory having 1000u2019s of files with some files are same name (time stamp is different) and some files are different name here file adapter has to pick the file with mentioned name in File sender adapter like ZMPSMSGSTATUSMST-.xml .
But source file name is like <TABLENAME>-<TIME_STAMP>.XML (ZMPSWRKFLOWHIST-20090527-150522-628) in file directory.
The file adapter in XI will poll to this directory and picks the file in first- in first-out by sorting according to timestamp.

Safari (3.0.4) on Mac OS 10.4.11 has started quitting when viewing news and weather sites - not all sites, not the same sites every day. Help?
Hi Gary...
I see you are running v10.4.11 and you have updated Safari but make certain all the system software is up to date by clicking your Apple menu / Software Update.
If everything is up to date, try resetting Safari from the menu bar.
Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
Restart your Mac. Launch Safari. Try several of the sites you mentioned.

If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash information.
Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder. -
I just got the new macbook pro about 2 weeks ago, it has lion. When the new mountain lion comes this summer, can i just update it on my macbook pro since it isn't so old? And if i can update it, do i have to pay, or is it a free update?
I'm in the same position, the store said they didn't know of any new release, so i bought my macbook pro to find out about mountain lion. I really hope that i'm not going to pay for the upgrade. New to apple, also last month bought my Ipad 3, really thought that Airplay would have been on my book pro, nope, waste of time.........need that update to use it. Back i the box then, get the windows 7 ultimate pro back out until then.

Document splitting enables a complex display of documents. Line items are split here for selected dimensions. This ensures that you can draw up complete financial statements for the selected dimensions at any time. Below example would further clear :-
Suppose a vendor invoice containing the following items is entered:
Posting Key Account Segment Amount
31 Payable 100.00-
40 Expense 0001 40.00
40 Expense 0002 60.00
Document splitting then creates the following document in the general ledger view:

Settings for Splitting are as follows :-
In the IMG, choose Financial Accounting (New)->General Ledger Accounting (New)-> Business Transactions-> Document Splitting.
1. Classify G/L Accounts for Document Splitting - You need to classify the individual document items so that the system knows how to handle them. You do this by assigning them to an item category. The item category is determined by the account number. In this IMG activity, you need to assign the appropriate accounts.
2. Classify Document Types for Document Splitting - Every business transaction that is entered is analyzed during the document splitting process. In this process, the system determines which splitting rule is applied to the document. To enable the system to determine the splitting rule, you need to assign a business transaction variant to each document type.
3. Define Zero-Balance Clearing Account - Here you define a clearing account for account assignment objects for which you want to have a zero balance setting when the balance is not zero.
4. Define Document Splitting Characteristics for General Ledger Accounting - Here you specify to which document splitting characteristics document splitting applies, for example, profit center or segment. The characteristics that you specify should be maintained in at least one of your ledgers. You determine which characteristics are maintained in your ledger by assigning scenarios or customer fields to your ledgers.
You also define how this characteristic is to be handled by specifying, for example, whether you want to apply a zero balance setting, whether the field is a required entry field, and the appropriate partner field.
5. Define Document Splitting Characteristics for Controlling - Here you specify which additional characteristics you want to apply in document splitting. The additional characteristics are not relevant for General Ledger Accounting. Instead, they are relevant for components in Controlling that use documents transferred from General Ledger Accounting.
6. Define Post-Capitalization of Cash Discount to Assets - Here you define whether the cash discount that is applied in the payment of an asset-relevant invoice should be capitalized to the asset. When you select this setting, the cash discount amount is not posted to the cash discount account in the payment document, but instead directly to the asset.
7. Edit Constants for Nonassigned Processes - Here you define default account assignments (for example, a default segment) for specific line items in processes for which it is not possible to derive the correct account assignments at the time when the document is posted. This is the case if the required information is not yet available when the posting occurs.
8. Activate Document Splitting - In this IMG activity, you activate document splitting. The splitting method used is that delivered by SAP as standard, which contains the splitting rules for the different business transactions. If this splitting method does not meet your requirements, you can first define and then select your own method in Customizing for document splitting (see the next step).
Settings for Extended Document Splitting
Here you define your own rules for document splitting and make the necessary settings so that the system applies the rules you defined and not the SAP standard rules.
9. Define Splitting Method - Here you define your own method for document splitting. A splitting method contains the rules governing how the individual item categories are dealt with.
10. Define Splitting Rule - Here you define the splitting rules for document splitting. You assign one or more business transaction variants, the account key for the zero balance setting, and the leading item categories for cross-company code transactions to a splitting method.
11. Assign Splitting Method - Here you assign the splitting method to be used for document splitting after activation. If you want to activate your own splitting method, replace the standard method with your own method.
12. Define Business Transaction Variants - Here you can define business transaction variants for the business transactions in document splitting.

Splitting in NEW GL with one profit center and two segments
What options are avialble for splitting in New GL when there should be one profit center and two segments - maybe characteristic derivation could solve it?
If I have understood your question correctly then you have one profit center and you want to attach two segments to it.
Segment is higher level than the profit centre. One segment can have n number of profit centres but one profit centre will have only one segment. This is the drawback in using the 'segment' in SAP. Also, it is difficult to change sengment embedded in profit centre master.
You might try using profit centre groups than segment.
