AC Adapter interfering with Mighty Mouse

I recently had to buy a new ac adapter and when i hooked up my mighty mouse it went crazy. The mouse tends to be very sensitive to touch, but only when the adapter is plugged in. The mouse will perform some of my expose settings when barely touched. Is there a setting I can change with my adapter or mouse to get this to go away?

Dear wim,
Thank you so much for your kind words. Its comforting to know that this difficulty is probably unfixable. At least I have a probable answer, and know that at least I am not alone.
I will continue to bother thru a few days more before I return this Mighty Mouse and buy another, undoubtedly a Windows type. Being somewhat a purist, I don't want to have to contaminate the Mac with a Windows thing, but.... Can't help hoping that there's another solution, and that I won't have to buy another. Hope springs eternal!
I will continue to watch this discussion and hope that some other solution presents itself. I have a sneaking suspicion that you're right.

  • Does IceMat work with Mighty Mouse Wireless?

I am looking for the perfect mousepad. I am tired of the tiny and flimsy mousepads that move all over the place.
After looking around I found the IceMat. It looks pretty nice and seems like it might be a very good mousepad (It better for $30+).
Has anyone used the IceMat with the Mighty Mouse (Wireless)? If so, how was it? Has anyone used the IceMat at all? What do you think?
Any other suggestions for the perfect mousepad?
    IceMat Manufacturer site:
    http://www.icemat.com/
    IceMat on Amazon
    http://www.amazon.com/Icemat-10012-2nd-Edition-Blue/dp/B000BCZ8Q8

I used IceMat before and I won't suggest it for any mouse from apple.
If you really want a nice mousepad, go for FUNC1030. I am using it
with apple mighty mouse and they work pretty well together.
You can find more information about it on www.func.net
The reason I don't suggest IceMat is that if you read the description from its website carefully, you should notice it's made of glass. It will kill your mouse very fast. That's why they also sell Icemat Padsurfers to protect your mouse. However, none of them work with mighty mouse. Also, for a mousepad which has a hard material surface, you need to clean it very often. At least once a week or might be more often.

  • Spontaneous Exposé with Mighty Mouse clicking

All of a sudden my PowerMac G5 will spontaneously go into F9 Exposé mode, showing all open windows, then immediately reverting back to the window I was working in. But then it will repeat this over and over and over and I'm unable to stop it. Eventually it stops on its own, but soon, while I'm attempting to go back to work on something, it starts again.
While I'm helplessly watching this on my display, my Might Mouse (wired) clicks all by itself, not like a click I would make by pressing on it, but a small internal sounding click. I have the sides of the mouse set to Exposé—All Windows when squeezed, but don't use that function of the mouse, and since it's a pretty specific maneuver that takes a bit of pressure to engage I don't think I could have accidently triggered it, so I don't think that's the cause. I don't even have to be touching the mouse or keyboard, though, for this to happen. I use the original white extended USB keyboard that came with the G5.
I have tried restarting the machine and that seems to correct the problem for a while, but then it eventually starts up again. It has happened with several apps and several windows open, so I thought perhaps it was some kind of memory issue, trying to do too much at one time, but it has also happened immediately upon start up with nothing opened yet.
Has this happened to anyone else? Does this mean my mouse is failing, or my keyboard is failing, or both, or is there something else going on? Any suggestions to alleviate this permanently?
Thanks so much for any help with this!

I am getting the same problem with my iMac. The mouse (wired Mighty Mouse) begins making a clicking sound and the open window begin going crazy as if I were using F10 for expose'. I have been unable to figure out what triggers it, or how to stop it. The problem happens too rapidly and for too long in duration for me to believe it's because i accidentally hit the side buttons.
What I have tried is to switch mouses, but this made no difference. I have recently set the mouse settings to turn off button 4, the side button. Don't know if this will work but worth a try. Any other ideas?
    Thanks for any help!

  • Dock problems with mighty mouse

I keep the hiding on for the Dock and have never had any issue with it. Since installing and using the wireless mighty mouse, I can only get the dock to pop out about 50% of the time. It's getting quite tiring to keep having to reach for the trackpad half the time I want to access the dock. Any ideas? (I've already checked for software updates) Anyone else have this odd problem?
I was also having a problem with right clicking until I read in another thread that I had to lift my left finger off the mouse. Awkward, but working fine. Thanks to whomever posted that advice.

    Hi CharPatton;
Generally failure to scroll down with the ball on a Mighty Mouse is an indication of a dirty ball. To clean the ball you can turn the mouse upside down and roll the ball on a chamois cloth in large circles. If the ball is really dirty and the circles on chamois cloth are now able to clean, take a tissue with a little bit of alcohol on and do the circling motion on the tissue then repeat once more on the chamois cloth. Hopefully that should do it for you.

  • Problems with mighty mouse clicking

Hi everybody, happy New Year first of all!
Then my problem: I bought an Intel iMac about 1 year ago, and have been using the supplied wired mighty mouse since then. I set it up with left+right top buttons.
I didn't have a single problem until a few weeks ago.
First, the "typycal dirty scrolling ball" which seems to be solved by rubbing the ball on a piece of papere with the mouse up side down.
Second, and most annoying, *the click functions seems to perform worse than before*. I mean, it looks like *I need more pressure now to have the mouse click* (either left or right) on links, icons, etc.
Result: about half of the times, clicking the mouse (using the pressure I was used to) has no effort, I need to re-click with more intensity.
Did anybody of you experience the same problem? I cannot understand if it is kind of software problem (say, something that can be solved by some restore function) or a physical one (dirt? But the mighty mouse cannot be unassembled...).
    TIA to all,
    Giopad65

  • Big Problem with Mighty Mouse

I'm having a rather big problem with my wired Mighty Mouse. Basically, the middle button is the only top button that works, and clicking with the left or right side does nothing but activate the middle button instead.
    Here's the nitty gritty...
The reason I can assume this happening is because I cleaned the scroll wheel to un-stick it. I did this by getting a sheet of white paper, turning the mouse upside down, and rubbing the wheel all over the paper, which left paths of dirt and fluff everywhere. Worked great, and the scroll wheel now works perfectly again.
The mouse worked fine after that which is what makes this problem odd, but later that night, all the top buttons just started acting as one middle button... So, (using my tablet) I changed the setting for the middle mouse button in the preferences to 'Primary Button'.
Now basically what I have is a one button mouse (with side squeezy things).
How do I make the left and right buttons work again? The preferences are set up fine... as in the right side is assigned to 'Secondary Button', etc, but it still only works as middle mouse.
Any ideas or help would be really appreciated!
    Cheers
    Cuby

If you are going to replace it, consider getting a plain old optical mouse that uses Apple's built-in generic USB mouse driver. I like the ones from Microsoft that have two buttons, a clickable scroll wheels, and that's it. This is the one that I use now.
    [Microsoft Optical Mouse (Blue)|http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-K81-00004-Optical-Mouse-Blue/dp/B000068M P2/ref=sr11?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1244701238&sr=8-1]
It is reliable, comfortable, and sturdy. I've never cleaned it. And it's so cheap. I had a different basic Microsoft mouse before, and the only reason I got a new one was because I wore out the pads on the bottom that let it slide around.
Tip: Apple's generic USB mouse driver does not seem to have way to set the center button click. But if you set it to something when the Mighty Mouse is connected, that setting seems to continue to work with the generic mouse. Mine is set to do Exposé.
Not sure why you cannot do +reset PRAM+. If your internal speaker volume setting is muted so that you do not hear the startup sound, you need to turn up the volume a bit. The startup sound is your indicator (when you hear it for the second time) that you can let go of then four keys.

  • Right button woes with mighty mouse

I have found that the right button on my mighty mouse quite frankly isnt very good. The mouse only detects i have clicked the right button when my left finger is completely lifted off the left mouse button, if it is merely resting on the left hand button, then the mouse detects a left mouse click when in fact it is my right (or middle) finger doing the pressing.!!
Most annoying...it may sound minor, but retraining my left finger to lift up whilst my right is pushing down is proving very tricky indeed!!!
Any ideas??? Any kind of firmware update or anything??
    Anyone??

    Hello, Ben,
This forum is for older, pre-PowerMac G3 Apple hardware, and so probably not the best place for you to get help with your issue. I'd suggest you ask in the MacBook Pro forum and see if someone can offer a suggestion there. It's possible that you just have a defective mouse.
    Good luck.

  • Strange problem with Mighty Mouse scroll ball

    Hi,
yesterday suddenly my Mighty Mouse start to have a strange mood. Using scroll ball to go down in a page I haven't problem, but trying to go up don't happened nothing! The problem seems to be software, because the hardware seems to be good.
    What can I do?
    Bye

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302417 How to clean your Mighty Mouse
Take a piece of bright white paper, turn the mouse upside down on it, press down on the ball, and run the mouse quickly in circles over the paper. This will remove all the gunk that's building up on the ball
TIP: To get to the gook inside the scroll nipple use a plastic toothpick.
"Other Options:" Wear latex disposable gloves. A box of same can be purchased from your local Dollar Store or Pharmacy.
Some cell phone leather cases actually fit right over the Mighty Mouse.
Clean/wipe the Mighty Mouse off with a damp cloth/rag prior to going to bed each evening.
Some users have found using the small alcohol pads quite successful. These can be obtained from any drug/pharmacy or Dollar Store.

  • Problem with Mighty Mouse at Windows XP

    Hi,
I have a problem with Apple Wired Mighty Mouse drivers on Windows XP..
I using a Dell notebook with WinXp and I need to have a full working driver for Mighty Mouse.
For example - 360 degree scroll, etc.. I tried a Trinity Driver, but my computer have some restrictions from my work. My question - is here any other driver, that supports some of that features, which Mighty Mouse have, or which driver package is it on Mac OSX install DVD for the BootCamp ? Cause i see here many packages (AppleBluetoothEnablerInstaller, AppleBluetoothInstaller, AppleDisplayInstaller, etc..) but none of them looks to have a driver for Mighty Mouse inside.
Thanks very much for a response..

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
at the moment only the very basic functions of the Magic Mouse work with Windows.

Maybe future driver updates include more functions.

  • Custom Right-Click Options with Mighty Mouse (scroll-wheel)

Is there a way to add custom actions to the contextual right-click menu on the mighty mouse? Or a program that will allow me to do that? I am looking to add a script or other items to the right-click menu options.

this has nothing to do with the kind of mouse you are using. you can add items to the right-click menu by creating a service. you can make your own using automator.
also, some applications install services when you install the applications and there are a number of built in services available. you can check system preferences->keyboard->keyboard shortcuts->services and activate the ones you want.

  • Trouble with Mighty Mouse and iMac

Something weird happened today. I moved my iMac to my fiance's home carefully packing it up in the box it came in. After unpacking and setting it back up, I got these audio "bleeps"(the noise the the computer makes when you press a button that doesn't execute anything). Problem is, this happens even when I scroll around the display. I intially thought that something was wrong with the mouse (or else a key was depressed on my keyboard-which it wasn't), so I changed to another 3rd party mouse. No bleeps coming from the iMac. So just for curiousity, I plugged the mighty mouse into my Macbook. NO NOISE. Now I'm wondering what the heck is up? Why does my iMac react to my mouse this way while my Macbook has no issues? Why does the iMac work fine with a non-Apple USB mouse? The might mouse came with the iMac and is not the wireless one. it worked fine up until this afternoon.
    Any suggestions???

okay so I bought another MM at Best Buy. Brought it to my house and it worked fine with my Macbook. So i go to my fiance's house where I have set up my iMac 17". Lo and behold I STILL GET THE BLEEPS. What's more, the mouse makes a physical clicking noise- not through the computer but on the MM itself. ***??? So I start trouble shooting. I unplug all of my HDs and music peripherals. The MM still makes the clicking noise and keeps trying to execute things on the desktop even when I'm not pressing the front area. Then I get the idea to take the iMac downstairs as I recall that I used my initial MM on my Macbook in the kitchen and it worked fine. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. So what in the **** is going on here? My MM is NOT wireless so why is it that ALL of the power outlets on the 2nd floor of my fiance's place screw with the MM?
Is there something on the iMac that I need to change in terms of power handling so it wont be so damned sensitive. mind you, this problem also occurs when using the MM and MAcbook upstairs. What gives???
I would really appreciate some clarification as to what this might be? RF noise?
I' come from many years of being a PC and chasing down problems but this has got me stumped!

  • Getting more battery life with Mighty Mouse

    Hi,
is there a way to make the Mighty Mouse read accurately the level of energy left in its batteries?? I have over 20 AA batteries of any kind (rechargeable or not, lithium or not, 1.2v or 1.5v, 2300 mah or else, etc.) and they all read "good-70%" when I test them with a simple battery tester. Still, the Mighty Mouse reads them very low, if not dead. What to do with that??
    Thanks.

How interesting. I've been relying on the computer reading as valid. I guess I'll have to get a battery tester myself and check it. You might bring the batteries into a nearby Apple Store and show the techs there what's happening. If you do that, post again with whatever you hear. If I can get the same results, I'll bring the mouse and the batteries into an Apple Store and let them figure it out.

  • IPhone is with 100% Reproducibility Interfering with Magic Mouse & Bluetooth

My Magic Mouse would start acting up @random - Sometimes days would pass with no problems other days I would have the problems all the time...
Last week I wanted to find the culprit. And I have !!!
    It is the iPhone.
I made a list and took notes of what I was doing every time the issue occurred.
The console would should no sign of anything.
the past week - My girlfriend had been using my iPhone to listen to music in a separate room. This week, I bought her a stereo ;-)
The past week I had ZERO trouble - this week nothing but trouble.
Going thru' my list, I noted that only the iPhone was the missing link.
So as the iphone was sitting next to me and the problem occurred I did this
Turned off its Bluetooth...     == No Change     (Lag & weirdness)
Turned off its WIFI               == No Change     (Lag & weirdness)
Put it into Airplane Mode     == Change          (No Lag No weirdness)
Put it back into Std Mode     == Change          (Lag & weirdness)
Moved iPhone to kitchen     == Change          (No Lag No weirdness)
I can do this all the time and repeat the problem 100% of the time
The iPhone is most definitely interfering with the stability of the Magic Mouse... NOT with the Trackpad !!!!!!!
    Both using BlueTooth
But the again, we all know in 2014 that the only magic about the magic mouse is its ability to produce magic results,
NOT invoked by the user and cause Wrist Pain. But hey, it looks really cool ;-)
Hope this helps anyone with this problem,
I tested this with my iPhone 4s running iOS 7 --- So I don't know whether this applies to other models and OSs

I have this same type of problem. As long as wifi is off bluetooth works. Turn wifi on and bluetooth can no longer find anything—no phones, computers, speakers, mouse etc... Bluetooth worked perfect rooms apart before Mavericks. I called Apple and they think it's a hardware issue with the mini. It's funny for something to be working so well before the software update. I told them to put the case on hold and I will wait for the OS update. If the OS update doesn't come I suppose I will drive the hour or so to the nearest Apple repair shop and have them look at it. The main reason I'm posting is I see very little about this issue being discussed. I hope to see some replies. Thanks.
