AC DC Wire Harness - HP dv7t-3000

Hello,
Was wondering is anyone would know where I can find the part number for the AC/DC Wire Harness on an HP dv7t-3000 laptop? When disassembling the laptop to change the cooling fan, I accidentally pulled the two wires from the small wire harness. This is the internal wire with the AC jack at one end and a six pin harness and a two pin harness at the other end, each which plug into the motherboard. I called HP Parts, but they didn't understand what I wanted and couldn't find the wire/jack on their user replaceable parts list. Elsewhere on the net, I have found a few wires, but not any exactly like the one I have. Most parts inside the machine had a part number, but this did not.
My product number is: NQ339AV
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks so much for the response. That is much closer than the others I have seen. Unfortunately, my jack has has a second black and red wire that goes into a second two pin harness. So, it has the same wires in the same configuaration and harness as the one pictured on ebay, but it also has a second two pin harness containing a black and red wire. All wires - 6 from one harness and 2 from the second originate from that jack - the same one pictured on ebay. I'll keep looking, but if you see any thing else, please ket me know.
Thanks again,
Brian

    Hello,
I have a Pavilion DV7T-3000 with i7-820QM Processor. I am planning on a memory upgrade. Has any one tried upgrading it to 16GB RAM ? (2 x 8GB). As per specs it can only go up to 2x4 GB.
Thank you for for any feed back.

I believe you should try to PM a level 8 or higher expert here and see if they will access someone from HP.

  • HP Pavilion dv7t-3000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC motherboard replacement

    Hi,
I have an HP Pavilion dv7t-3000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC with the black screen (of death) due to a known fault with the graphics chip. I have been trying to buy a replacement motherboard at an affordable price that does not have this problem. I have seen several HP Pavilion motherboards that look very similar to mine, but have a different part number. Can anyone tell me or recommend a replacement motherboard that is compatible with my laptop and hopefully does not have this known graphics chip problem. Thanks for your time and support.

We need the P/N to verify what board will fit in that laptop and also you can use that P/N from service manual to locate the part on eBay to find a match or call HP support to see what the board would cost.

  • Alternate battery for dv7t-3000?

    Hello,
The battery on my dv7t-3000 laptop has conveniently started reporting that it needs to be replaced 3 months after my warranty has expired. Is the GA08 battery the only battery made for my model? Is there not a higher capacity/more cell battery available?
    Thanks!

Here's an aftermarket 12 cell that should fit yours.  So, yes, bigger batteries are being made.  Whether hp is making bigger ones or not, that I don't know.

  • SSD in dv7t-3000

Can an SSD be installed in this HP model?  I have a quad-core dv7t-3000.

Yes the laptop has two hard drive slots and an SSD can be installed as one or both of the hard drives.
You would need this caddy and cable to add a second drive if you do not already have a second drive.

Only the drive in the primary slot can run Windows (be bootable).

  • Wire harness design questions

I'm guessing not many people here are involved with small batch design and construction of harnesses.
On the last J1939 250 kbps automotive harness design that went out the manufacturer substituted some Deutsch junction connectors which effectively turned the bus into a star. Arm lengths were also pretty bad: 13, 19, 37, 108, and 120", and 60" to a connector that joins another harness under our customer's design control. Presumably that one will have several nodes and a terminating resistor. Adding to the difficulty is that the 19" arm is to an ECU with built in 60 ohm resistor, and the 13" arm also has a node with built in resistor, which was developed with the understanding that the resistor was optional, which hasn't been the case just yet.
I complained a bit, and came up with a compromise design that does some doubling back inside the harness to maintain a decent bus topology. Now it has the terminated ECU at one bus end, 30" stub, 4" branch to the other terminated node, 60" branch, 101" branch and then connector to customer's harness. Lengths between the branches range from 12" to 30", plus at least 50" for the customer connection. Not super thrilled about the remaining branch lengths, but it's better. With some more cajoling we could maybe double back and cut that 101" down. The 60" branch is not going to get shorter, as that would require 2 trips through a cannon connector. All of this is run through shielded twisted pair wiring, bound up with the general wiring (24 and 12 VDC primarily).
Sorry for the long setup. Functional questions:
-barring rigorous testing, how detrimental are the long stub and branches, and the superfluous terminated node?
-any suggestions on making junctions for each branch? In and out of the shielded twisted wire each time is quite a roadblock for small scale manufacturing, especially to keep single end connection for the shield intact.
-is it worth looking into other robustness measures, such as split termination? That is assuming we ever have that opportunity.
Deutsch would love for us to go full tilt on their 3 pin setup, but that's as unlikely as a standalone CAN bus harness. I went through the TI CAN bus document here: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slla270/slla270.pdf and have a slightly better understanding of the technical reasons for following the specifications. Nothing I can really point to as signal of doom however.
    Thanks,
    Mark

The routing of a CAN a bus and it's wires can be a difficult thing.  On the surface it is easy, just follow the approved design spec for CAN which as a summary is the following:
Create a bus which is linear where nodes attach to the bus, and no node is farther than 15cm away from the bus.
Attatch a 120ohm resistor between CAN high and low on the first and the last node of the bus.
Does a CAN bus suddently fall appart if these recommendations aren't followed?  Not always.  These requirements are to help shield against noise and reflection on the lines.  If you are in an environment with no noise, then maybe you don't need to follow these rules so closly.
We make testers were we can test up to 12 devices at once.  Some times we are forced to put all of these devices on one CAN bus, leading to high bus load over 90% at 500K baud.  Each UUT gets its own 10 foot harness.  So this means we may have 12 nodes, each with a 10 foot harness, going to a single point where the CAN port is.  In this design we only have one terminating resistor and it is at the CAN port of the tester.  So we broke both of the CAN spec rules.  But in our test environment, which deal with 480VAC power supplies, shaker tables, and environmental conditions with humidity and temperature, we didn't have a problem.  But I was very nervious about the design choices made by others, until we had lots of data showing the robustness.
For us there wasn't much alternative.  Either have 12 different CAN ports, which increase cost and system complexity, or we could have extra wires so the CAN bus would go out and come back from each UUT which would mean more cost in harnesses, and it would mean all harnesses need to be connected, even when a UUT isn't to complete the bus.

  • Problems with an HP dv7t-3000 (with Core i7/P55 Express Chipset) and iPhone

This has been a question posted about other manufacturers, but I just got a custom-made HP dv7t with a Core i7-720QM processor and the required Intel P55 Express Chipset. I am running Windows 7 (64-bit) and I cannot get it to successfully sync to iTunes v9.0.2. It will not always fail at the same point, but it always fails.
I have contacted HP and I got a technician who, although he felt the incident should be escalated, his supervisor said to have me prove that it wasn't iTunes' fault. That's something I obviously can't do, so he wins. Some people have been able to get their cases escalated with HP (by being lucky, I guess), but not me. I have read that Gigabyte motherboard users have a BIOS patch available that resolves the issue. Intel is supposedly looking into the issue, but that's the most they've said about the problem (and that was on 11/3/09). Asus, Acer, MSI, etc., are all having the same issues, but Gigabyte has been the only company to resolve it with a BIOS update.
I did read that one user slapped in a PCI-based USB 2.0 card to his desktop and his problems are over, however I have a notebook, so that's not an option here to even try. Others have tried earlier versions of iTunes (such as v8.2), but with limited success. It just doesn't work well at all (occasionally, at best).
Does anyone have any updates on whether Apple is admiting any culpability with possible driver issues with the iPhone and Touch (since it seems to be limited to those products from what I've read on here)? I'm just stuck right now and want to get rid of a dying laptop that I sync with currently, but can't until this problem is fixed.
If anyone has updates, I'd appreciate it. If there is a main thread on this, pointers to there would also be helpful. Thanks! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks a ton!
    Jim

After spending numerous hours on the phone with HP and at least 6 hours at the apple store with still no luck. I went here to the HP site, and updated my bios and voila, problem solved. Try it out, it should fix all your problems.

  • Dv7t-3000 - Sata or Sata 2 - Please help explain what this has!

I assumed that Sata 2 being mainstream for so long, this new laptop of mine would have it.
I want to buy one of the nicer SSD for this unit, but I can NOT confirm anywhere that it will run up to 300 megs.
If it's Sata 1 then I wouldn't be getting much performance gain from a SSD as this 7200RPM HDD rates up to 100 megs.
I contacted HP Support and got told that my laptop only has Sata 1.
I find this impossible to believe.  Why in the world would HP do that?  I read in a post on the forums that this laptop
falls into the top 5% for overall performance for laptops.  How is that so unless it has sata 2?  Why would they
have old Sata 1 in such new technology?
Can anyone confirm if HP Support is correct?  I have the guy second guessing himself right now and he asked for serial number to try and find documentation to support his claim.  I may have to RMA this beast and start searching for a laptop that has SATA II because that is the main reason I wanted a laptop!  For the SSD to WOW me!
Thanks in advance for your thoughts, input, and effort you may put into this!

    UPDATE:
Otay.  Now I understand why all the reviews out there say what they say about HP support.  Makes you feel like you carried your new puppy into an auto garage to learn about it.  WRONG people, wrong place!
Can anyone who knows english and knows about computers please tell me why the ...  why HP would be retarded and put Sata 1 in this killer laptop?  Do they really enjoy upsetting their customers?  All I kept getting for that supervisior was "you computer customized and you hard drive you choose sata 1"
I bought it directly from HP.com so I could have everything in it that you may not get from a retail store.  She couldn't seem to grasp that nowhere on hp.com does it let you know if you get sata 1 or sata 2.   Option not offered and it SHOULDN'T be.  It should automatically be sata 2!  Sata one was like so 1998!
Sorry for being so upset.  I just want a killer SSD to make this beast all it should be and HP is telling me it's not going to happen.  Do I need to start an RMA?  Or can someone confirm that I can get read speeds of 230 from that SSD I want?

    Hi,
Many owners(those who can afford it) of the dv7t series are putting OCZ agility and vertex drives in to replace their SATA hard disk.
I have no doubt that the speed of the SSD disk will wow you even if it isn't SATA2. Think about restart times of 58 seconds!

  • Dv7t-3000 and intel mainstream 2nd gen 160gb ssd

I put this ssd in this laptop. It works quite nicely. However i didnt read all the fine print regarding requirements of trim and firmware updates. What Im reading is that the bios sata ports have to be configured to ahci mode, legacy or compatability mode or the firmware tool wont work, and if the sata  ports arnt configured in ahci mode  you wont be getting use of the trim function. You cant swith modes or even check the mode in this crippled bios .I know a lot of you guys have installed ssds in this laptop ( but unlike me you know what your doing ) So could someone please shed some light on these issues and bring me out of the darkness .

  • Dv7t-3000 Heat Problems (fans always at idle)

I have the Core i7 Quad version of the dv7t.  My perceived problem is that the thing runs crazy hot.  CPU and GPU both regularly hit 70 deg C when I'm playing games. The machine is fairly new and I am using an active laptop cooling stand.
What concerns me is that the fans never kick up from idle.  I know the machine is capable of it 'cause I hear them spin fast initially when I turn it on.  But from then on it's idle all the way.  This seems to be the exact opposite problem of other posts I've managed to find about this laptop.
What I *think* may be part of the problem (or a symptom) is HWMonitor shows my ACPI temperature zone at 0 deg. Has anyone seen this before and/or found a solution?

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum not decoding A

I want to use my Audigy 2 ZS Platinum to decode AC-3 signals when I play DVDs. I have done everything the "Digital Connections, SPDIF and Dolby Digital Info" thread. I have verified the SPDIF passthrough is disabled in AudioHQ.. rather.. Use Installed Decoder is enabled. I am using Intervideo WinDVD 5 to play DVDs. In this software I have Digital (S/PDIF) out selected. I'm using the Creative wire harness to connect the analog connections from the audigy to my receiver and I have my receiver setup to use the direct analog inputs. When I play a DVD the dialog is faint and only comes from the front channels. If I tell InterVideo WinDVD 5 to decode instead of using the SPDIF out it sounds exactly like it should. The dialog is very clear and comes from the center channel and the rear channels also produce sound. I don't trust my receiver to decode so that's why I'm not using the digital out instead. It doesn't sound right.. why I bought the Audigy to do the decoding.
Using InterVideo WinDVD 5 to decode isn't an option for me to use for other reasons. It is a good test to make sure the Audigy is doing what it should. For whatever reason, the Audigy is not decoding the AC-3 signal properly. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? It really blows my mind. This isn't a new concept at all. I didn't expect to have problems with it.
    Cheers,
    Scott

$$$ I keep throwing money at this computer trying to get audio to work right. The Audigy 2 ZS Platinum was throwing more money at it... I'm not going to keep buying more and more stuff to get the computer to decode an AC3 signal properly. I'm going to see what other people do that works.
Is there a solution to get the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum to actually decode the AC3 signal?

  • Fresh z557 overhaul and now need drivers i never needed before

i have always loved this z557 media center for its very unique case and features, but a decade has passed and well, it needed a lil more gusto to keep up with modern times! and when the power supply burnt out for its 3rd time i decided its finally time to do a complete overhaul. i gutted out and updated everything but all the front panel components and pci cards. im not sure what all imformation on my new hardware is relavent so please ask and i will tell. i know these z series media centers were all intel processors, and i stayed with an asus mobo but went with an amd A8 processor and chipset instead, could that be the cause of my problems? i will also tell you this overhaul did require more than a few modifications that most people would likely not attempt. but i beleive everything to be connected as it should and all else functions as is should. so yes, i do have a strong understanding of computers and electronics in general, but on an amature/hobby level. i may have something connected wrong, but to best of my knowledge, the problem is just in finding drivers to these older components.
in the past, when i upgraded from windows xp to windows 7 (not changing any hardware) i never needed to install drivers for these components to work. other than the wifi and hauppauge tv cards, but those arnt very important to me right now beacuse im using LAN and netflix to watch tv. not sure if it makes any difference that those were 32bit versions and now im using 64bit, but anyways, lets just take this one issue at a time... and in order of importance
what i want is to keep functionality of the front panel LCD, wireless keyboard, IR remote, aswell as the tv tuner cards if possible for future use. i havnt tested the front composite AV inputs, 4pin 1394, 1/4 headphone out, 1/8 mic input yet beacause they arnt very important to me just yet, but are all part of the same circuit board in the front corner to the LCD keyboard and remote. the usb and card readers on the othe side work fine and the personal media drive was removed which is irrelevant anyhow. im just stuck on trying to figure out this annoying front panel display right now, so...
starting with the LCD display on the front. i used to have a DEC icon in my control panel window that gave me options for the brightness and such for it. i never had to install anything for it to work on first boot up. not even windows updates. yes, i had problems in the past with it not working perfectly, and hp website does have a patch for that, but its not an all inclusive driver to make the display work. how can it get it to show the time after windows is all booted up (like usual) and all its other functions working, instead of it just showing the welcome to the "hp digital entertainment center" marque over and over and over?
next is the IR remote. when i have a playlist playing (in windows media player) i could skip tracks, pause, change the volume... etc. with this remote, and now its entirely unrecognized. i dont believe it ever had an icon for options in the control panel. i beleive its power is fed from the same board the front panel display and 49MHz wireless keyboard, so id imagine it is getting power in the tower but no light to indicate its functioning, and batteries are good in the handheld, so ummm... yea
which leads me next to the awesome lil keyboard with track ball and such. again, i never had to install any specific drivers for it to work, but not sure if it was a windows update or something included from the windows os install disk. i always used a wired usb keyboard, and still do just for reliability. but ive put fresh batteries into the keyboard itself, and pushed the buttons to pair it up and... never seems to connect. the green light by the button on the front panel doesnt flash like it used to when receiving keyboard communications either. any number of attempts leads to same result.
last is the tv tuner cards. i removed the second card and only have the main one in with the 2 RF connections. hauppauge wintv pvr-26652 PCI II. its also the only search that brought me results in these forums here. which i did read and was about trouble with finding the proper drivers. this is also the only thing listed in the device manger as having an issue. but listen to this, there is a small wire harness that goes from the front panel board that connects to this tv tuner card. i dont know if they are reliant on each other in any way, or if its just to control the front LCD and function off the IR remote? but its connected, as well as the blue AAFP wire harness, and red harness to usb34. i cant think it would make any diffence connecting the red harness to the usb56... maybe ill try that next. my mobo is asus a78m-e
so any advice, links or things to try or check out would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much guys!

the only device brought to my attention in the device manager is the tv tuner card. Hauppauge wintv pvr pci ii (26xxx)
under sound, video and game controllers. there are 5 strings listed under value, if you only need the last one it is
    PCI/VEN_4444&DEV_0016&CC_0400
on the general tab it opens up to, under device status it says: this device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (code 12) if you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.
not sure exactly which devices it is refering to that i "need to disable". the only other listings on the sound, video and game controllers tree is: AMD high definition audio device and realtek high definition audio. seems strange to have two different audio drivers... but i do have a small s/pdif optical audio out card added. then on the face of the case (specific to the z series) in the lower left corner is the composite av inputs aswell as headphones and mic jacks. plus the integrated blue, green, pink eigth inch jacks on the back of the mobo.
i dont know if the IR remote and keyboard would be under human interface devices, keyboard devices or mice and other pointing devices. but the last string in all of them is  HID_DEVICE
no idea which branch would contain the front panel lcd
i cant help but mention you have a fine taste in automobles! i had an '88 trans am gta for about 6 years. lt1, gun metal grey with grey cloth, same gold wheels. around the same time i had an '86 buick regal and found a set of those same cross lace wheels with the black centers. looked badass!
