AC_FL_RunContent
I have a DW8.2 page that loads flash 8 page with the
AC_FL_RunContent.js and ActiveX.js uploaded to the server. I am on
a PC and have tested in IE, Netscape 6, 7 & 8, Mozilla and
Firefox. Always works. However a client on a Mac (I do not know
what brower he is using get the following message: This page
requires AC_FL_RunContent.js. In Flash, run "Apply Active Content
Update" in the Commands menu to copy AC_FL_RunContent.js to the
HTML output folder. I have done this, after he first told me of the
problem. I don't honestly know if I had done it before. He is still
getting the message. I can not replicate the problem.
site is at: www.relentlesstheatre.com/main.htm
I have the following code at the fop of the DW page
<!-- saved from url=(0013)about:internet -->
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
charset=iso-8859-1" />

<script language="javascript"> AC_FL_RunContent = 0;

Any advice appreciated.

URL of servlet in AC_FL_RunContent?
The instructions I read for using AC_FL_RunContent, say to leave off the file extension of the swf file, e.g.:
AC_FL_RunContent(..., 'movie', 'some');
So that it will embed some.swf. However, I need to serve the swf from a servlet, e.g. /blah/SomeServletName. How can I do that?
I tried changing the javascript of AC_RunActiveContent.js, so it doesn't manipulate the file extension. In other words, so I could use:
AC_FL_RunContent(..., 'movie', 'some.swf');
But, it displays nothing if I use the servlet path, instead of a path that looks like a file name, e.g.:
AC_FL_RunContent(..., 'movie', '/blah/SomeServletName');
Can this be done?The problem was that the servlet was setting Content-Disposition to attachment. Without that, as long as the AC_RunActiveContent.js is changed to not add a file extensions (what was the point of that?), then it works.

AC_FL_RunContent is not defined
Hello all,
New here to forum and relatively to DW and Flash.
I inserted a flash slideshow to this site
http://www.cirilloworld.com/home.html
and it does not work.
I am getting this page load error in IE "AC_FL_RunContent is
not defined" and it points to the Flash code on each page and the
"Our Clients" Flash slideshow on each page is not playing, nor the
video clip that should be playing on the Gallery page.
Any help would be much appreciated.
RegardsGood luck!

AC_FL_RunContent issue
My website http://www.libertychesapeakes.com/Libertychesapeakevideos.html runs my flash video in the preview but once i uploaded to my hosting account it said AC_FL_RunContent is not defined ?
The path to the .js file is wrong.... from your code:
<script src="../../Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
So from this location, go up two folder levels and then into the "Script" folder.
Problem is:
http://www.libertychesapeakes.com/Libertychesapeakevideos.html
is a root level file... so you can't go up two folder levels. You probably meant
<script src="Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
... removing those two "../../" Now the browser just goes to the "Scripts" subfolder to get the .js file.

AC_FL_RunContent: 'noborder' setting
Hi,
I'm using Flash 4 (just making a few simple Flash animations)
and
AC_RunActiveContent.js.
When I use 100% (of a DIV, not of the screen) instead of
900px I can
see the objects outside the animation (which is 900px to
217px).
So I inserted AC_FL_RunContent( ... 'scale','noborder', ...)
but
nothing happens.
Than I edited the js file with
case "scale":
ret.objAttrs[args
] = args[i+1];
break;
Also doesn't work.
Any ideas?
UliGot it.
case "scale" was in the wrong line. Must be placed under
codebase.

Making the standard AC_FL_RunContent script fallback friendly
I use the normal "AC-FL_RunContent insert Media Flash" script
to show off my flash-ads. But if the reader doesnt have flash they
are "forced" to install/upgrade flash. I want the user to be
presented with a gif/jpg instead aka fallback.

AC_FL_Runcontent null or not defined error plus I have a js redirector trojan

Make sure your Spry files are in the correct folder. As its not found for some reason. You might also wanna check your server settings as you are using working from local host.
If all fails, upload a it to a public url. -
AC_FL_RunContent and php variable from recordset
Hi, can anybody point me to a resource on how to grab the
name of the .swf file from my db and pass it to the active content
javascript?
If I just replace the the movie name with a php echo that
grabs the file name from the db there is no playback.
TIA
-FrankShould work fine.

AC_FL_RunContent & BASE Attribute
I had a flash movie embedded in an asp page and I am trying
to make it work with the new logic but it just sits there and does
no load.
I think it may be perhpas because I had to use a base tag?
There is one main movie that loads several others and none of them
are in the same folder as the asp pagn.
Old and new source attached. If anybody sees anything goofy,
I would appreciate some info.
Thanks
MathiasI spend at least four hours a day trying to beat this issue,
you would think that taking my avi movie and putting it through the
flash encoder of cs3 and then running it through cs3 flash would
just work like the older versions of flash, place the swf and flv
on the server and then publish the html in flash and place that on
the server and wollah you got a movie playing in flash 9
I have ran it though dreamweaver even sending the ftp through
the dreamweaver program to no sucess, again when I create and view
it locally on the browser it works just fine, send it to the net
and it sucks -
CS3 Templates managing relative file paths in AC_FL_RunContent
Hi,
If I insert a Flash media resource (e.g. a .swf file) into a template, Dreamweaver CS3 inserts two sections of HTML into the template to display the resource; a <script> section and a <noscript> section. Then if I create a number of HTML files from the template which are stored in sub-folders which have different relative file paths to the resource from the template, then when DW builds the HTML files from the template, it correctly edits the relative file paths in the <noscript> section but does not correctly edit the relative file paths in the <script> section. So the resource does not display in browsers which have javascript enabled for the files which have different relative file paths from the resource.
Is there a solution for this that I can use with my CS3 other than: (a) manually editing the code by hand outside of DW; or (b) upgrade to CS4 or CS5; or (c) have multiple copies of the resource in different locations with the correct relative file paths from the HTML files.
I have read something about Edit > Preferences > Code Rewriting > uncheck the Active Content preferences but I do not know if that is in a different version of Dreamweaver because my CS3 version does not appear to have that.
Thanks,
-A Novice.Oh, BTW, I forgot to say, I/we cannot use site-relative file paths because this question is posted on behalf of a school where the kids are taught to use DW to create web-sites but the sites are not actually ever published to any web servers. The sites are only ever viewed by previewing the site in DW or by double-clicking on the index.html page from Windows Explorer. And because the kids are not being taught how to hand-code HTML (or how to hand-code anything come to that), editing the HTML by hand is not a solution. Really, we need a solution where DW will do it automatically and properly (without spending money on upgrading to CS4 or CS5 (if possible).
Thanks again,
-Still A Novice -

He focuses on capturing intimate portraits of birds in their natural surroundings. Glenn strives for what he calls “clean” images – where the subject is clear, distracting elements are kept to a minimum and the background is pleasingly blurred out of focus. Glenn’s work has been published widely throughout North America in books and magazines (such as Birder’s World, Birding & Bird Watchers Digest). His most recent book is entitled – “Birds in Ecuador: A Photographic Journey.” Glenn loves to share his passion for photography and for the natural world with those who attend his photographic workshops and with participants of www.naturescapes.net where he is a moderator in the Birds forum.</p>

Growing up in Toronto, Canada I can recall countless hours spent

David Suzuki's "The Nature of Things" on TV. Those days
I took any opportunity I had to study and learn about animals of all
kinds. Nowadays
I often find myself up at the crack of dawn, knee-deep in mud or covered
in mosquitoes all in pursuit of capturing just a glimpse of natures
beauty. Although I enjoy photographing all of mother natures fascinating
creatures. I tend to focus on birds. Why birds? I think it's because
there are so many species of birds, they can be found almost anywhere, they are
challenging to photograph and they are beautiful to watch. I love birds!</p>

Adobe 'fixes' for Flash and Dreamweaver
According to what I've been reading, Adobe added fixes to
Dreamweaver 8.02 to deal with the Active Content problem created by
Microsoft when Flash animations are embedded in web pages. Since I
have an earlier version of Dreamweaver and Flash and am having
problems like everyone else with that issue, would some 8.02 user
kindly inform me if this is indeed the case, and what does one do
in the new version to ensure Flash active content runs as intended?
Is it something that one must still manually add to the code in an
.html file, is the correction added automatically, is there an icon
to press....just how is the new feature/fix used and incorporated?
I'd like to know before considering an update. Thank
you..............frankhttp://www.adobe.com/support/dreamweaver/downloads_updaters.html#dw8
Basically after you update if you add a flash file you get
this code added to the html file:
<script src="Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js"
type="text/javascript"></script>
and that folder (Scripts) and (fileAC_RunActiveContent.js)
are automatically created with your project. When you import a swf
file the code that is automatically generated is also updated with
a snippet of code to fix the AC issue:
<script type="text/javascript">
AC_FL_RunContent( 'codebase','
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0','wid th','404','height','368','src','~movies','quality','high','pluginspage','http://www.macrom edia.com/go/getflashplayer','movie','~movies'
); //end AC code
</script><noscript>
You dont really have to do anything other then remember to
upload the scripts folder to your server when you publish. -

An image changing to FLV Video Player in AJAX Update Panel
Hi,
I'm trying to design part of a website can seen as video gallery. I have videos related to subcategories; and subcategories that related to categories.
I was using popups but now want to change it. Simply, firstly there are images and descriptions(in an update panel) of videos on page. After clicking thumbnail, the region includes thumbnail and description wil be changed to FLV video player.
Outside of updatepanel player is working good. but when i move it into updatepanel; doesn't working in IE. Because JS code (AC_FL_RunContent(.....)) is not working in updatepanel. Tried another script (like alert('hello!');), it's working. I think i have problem with the function named AC_FL_RunContent(...). It's working as i want, if open page with Firefox.
Looked for this in google. Visited many pages, but never find a solution for this nor source of problem. I hope someone can help me
Using ASP.Net. I'm attaching my tree structure and codes below:
