AC Power stops when using s-video output

This only happens when using the s-video output. It usually takes about an hour before the ac power adapter stops working then the powerbook switches to battery power.
For all other times when not using the video output, it would work normally [ i could leave the ac power plugged in for weeks without this problem occuring ].
Is there a way to fix this when using the s-video output.
Powerbook G4 1.33 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

If you know someone with another 65W power adapter I would try using it to see if it does the same thing. If it doesn't then you know to buy a new power adapter.

  • IMac G5 iSight - Resolution problems when using s-video output.

    Good afternoon all.
I have an iMac G5 and the only video output it has is a mini VGA socket. I have used this with a mini VGA to S-Video converter cable from Apple and am getting some odd results.
The Mac is running Leopard 1.5.7 and I'm outputting to a fairly old Panasonic CRT TV.
The problem I find is that when I plug in my mini VGA adaptor to the Mac it reduces the resolution on the Mac screen down to 1024x768 (stretched). The TV outputted TV image looks great, but I can't seem to keep my native resolution of 1440x900 on the Mac display.
If I do go and change the resolution in "displays" in the sys' prefs' then it just seems to keep the 1024x768 resolution on the Mac but this time without stretching it.
Does anyone know how I can keep my Mac at its native resolution of 1440x900 while still outputting to s-video to the TV?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you again in advance.

    Hi
I have the same config as you: I have been using it for years to view on my tv dvds or videos from the web.
To my knowledge there is no way to acheive what you wish: when you plug the adaptor in the mac adjust to your output source and its main display (the g5 display) will reflect that with the result that it becomes very difficult to use.
Maybe there is a way to try changing the resolution in a middlle"configuration" which would give an acceptable viewing on the tv as well as on the g5.
Personally I keep plugging and unplugging the adaptor as needed.

  • Using both video outputs

I am using both video outputs on the back of the mini, VGA and HDMI. Thes VGA is running to a projector and the HDMI is running to a computer monitor. I am also running Bootcamp WINDOWS 7. When I power up the Mac, the computer monitor goes to sleep and defaults to the projector as the main monitor. If I power on the projector first, before powering the computer on and then power the MAC on, it recongnizes the computer monitor as the default monitor. Why can't the MAC mini recognize the computer monitor(HDMI) as the default when both video outputs are connected? HELP!

Try putting the setup in Extended Desktop Mode (Mirroring off) and make the Monitor the main or primary display as shown in the following article's

  • 2012 macbook pro retina display artifacts on screen when using onboard video

2012 Macbook Pro Retina Display artifacts on screen when using onboard video.
About a month ago I've noticed these strange artifacts (blocky pixelated looking) running vertically down the screen. It first started when using Safari. Then it started to happen all the time. I turned off the auto switch video in preferences, which I'm assuming forces the computer to use the separate video card and the artifacts go away.
On top of that issue I also have had the ghosting issue.
    Anyone else have this problem?

artifacts onscreen could mean a faulty gpu. You said by forcing it on inbuilt gpu you do not find this issue highlights that. Do take it in to apple for service and also tell them of your ghosting issue.
There are a few retina owners who have faulty gpus.

  • KMS using wrong video output

    Hi all,
I have a Zenbook Prime and used it in dual screen mode via its HDMI output yesterday with xrandr. I unplugged the cable, conditnued using it, stopped it.
Now when I start it, as soon as initramfs finished loading, Linux uses the HDMI output to display my tty (even if no cable is plugged), so it prompts for my username on the HDMI output and the screen of my laptop becomes black. All the boot sequence up to this part is made on the correct screen but then this screen is not used anymore by linux. Even if with xrandr I try to use it I stays black. I can still control backlighting but nothing is displayed.
After some research, it appears that this decision is made by KMS (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … de_Setting). When I disable KMS with nomodeset my tty is displayed on the laptop screen. The problem is that my graphic driver (intel) requires KMS to be enabled and thus prevents me from starting the X server without KMS.
So what I tried then is to force KMS to use my integrated screen instead of the HDMI output, with the video= parameters on the kernel command line. With these parameters I succeeded to disable the HDMI output, but could not enable mine with parameters like
    video=HDMI-A-1:d video=eDP-1:1920x1080 D video=DP-1:1920x1080 D. So all my screens are black.
Also, if I plug a archiso usb key it starts its tty on the correct screen.
Any idea on how to debug better/fix this problem? I tried dmesg but see no interesting information about KMS...

Ok I found this topic https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=167314, apparently my problem is related to theirs and is due to the 3.10 linux kernel. I thought this forum content was indexed by google but apparently not ^^, next time I'll also search here.

  • Why is the video so dark when using 'Hello' video calls?

    HI,
I have used 'Hello' on 4 computers this week to trial it. For each of them the video is very dark. When I open AnyMeeting on the same computers the video output is might lighter. Can anyone tell me why this is and/or how to change the Hello settings?

    Hello Laine,
Please try refreshing your Mozilla Firefox using its refresh feature.
The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.
'''''Note:''' When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences.'' See the [[Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings]] article for more information.
    To Refresh Firefox:
    # Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
#*Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click help [[Image:Help-29]] and select ''Troubleshooting Information''. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
#*If you're unable to access the Help menu, type '''about:support''' in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
#At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
#Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
#Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.
Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

  • How to solve power error when using USB camera adapter in your camera

    Hello Everyone,
First of all I wanna say reducing the output of the USB camera adapter from 100mA to 20mA just to save battery life is by far the most incredible adjustment in the history of @)#*$#%*($#!
I know most of us bought the USB Camera adapter so we can use it as a USB adapter for the Camera (saves us from taking the memory card on and off the camera) but sadly the "Ginues Apple" reduced it to 20mA which decreases the range of cameras and flash drives that will work with it. I use Gopro Hero 3+ black and everytime I plug it with the adapter to my ipad I keep on seeing this @#@$#@ power error. I didn't want to waste the expensive adapter so I tried to look for a micro sd card reader but I don't think 20mA readers still exist.
Now to solve this problem is very simple add a power source to help that 20mA up, most of the my friends bought a powered port hub but it's not my type because it's bulky, needs an outlet and not portable.
So I found a better solution on how you can add a power source and still be portable, the answer is power bank or portable charger.
    Things you need:
    Camera
USB camera adapter (Ginues Apple product)
Power bank (I'm using 8,400 mAh)
Dual USB Male to 5 Pin Mini USB Y Cable
    Ipad
    Procedure:
Camera --- 5 Pin Mini USB ------------------ USB camera adapter ---------- Ipad
                                                   '---------- Power Bank
Attach you camera to the 5 pin mini usb then the USB1 male to the female apple's USB camera adapter then to the Ipad. = this will show the power error.
Then attach the USB2 to the power bank/portable charger to power it up.
    your welcome

  • Computer goes power-off when using flash player

    Hi,
When using Linux (both Fedora 20 and openSuse 13.1), the latest updates installed, with latest flash player, recently my computer either starts rebooting continuously or just goes power-off. This happens between 15 seconds to 1 minute into a video. Earlier I thought it was the computer hardware being at fault, but after thoroughly cleaning it, it still happens and without playing a flash video, the computer just keeps running. List of my hardware (from dmesg): AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3100+, ATI RV620 LE [Radeon HD 3450] video, 2 GB RAM.
Thanks for any suggestion or solution...
    H.

It's either graphics drivers or a heat problem (but that would be more the turn-off, but not the rebooting symptom).
You can disable hardware acceleration in Flash to try and avoid it.

  • Sustain won't stop when using Logic's Plugins

I have a CME VX80 and using it with Logic 9.01. I'm getting the sustain staying on all the time once I press the pedal. If I change the polarity then the sustain stops when I press the pedal.
This seems to happen only with Logic's virtual Instruments. If I use external plug-ins like Ivory Piano the sustain works correctly. If I use Korg's M1/T1 virtual intruments, the pedal works correctly.
Any suggestions as to why this is happening? Any resolutions?

It was the pedal itself. I bought a new M-audio pedal and everything is fine now.

  • Using different video outputs?

    Hello,
I was wondering if Director can use the different video
outputs on many video cards? I'd like to use the S-Video to send
video to a projector and then the VGA output to a monitor.

    Out of the box... no.
    Check this link.

Look under "Device Control/Input" and "Video" categories.

  • IPod Classic skipping/stopping when using Infiniti M37 factory installed dock

We have 2 Infiniti M37s and when I use my iPod Classic in either one, songs will skip/stop during play (happens randomly and not with the same song each time and the frequency differs, too) and then resume, though all songs play without skipping/stopping when I use my Bose headset (not in the car!).  It happens on all road surface types and, thinking it may have been the cable, have used 3 different cables to connect from the car dock to my iPod.  Same problems.  I had a Toyota before and never had this problem with with the same iPod.  Help?!!!  Thanks.

This most likely won't completely solve your problem and you might've already tried it, but try restarting your iPod. It might just need a rest! To do this, press the Menu and center button on your iPod until it turns black and then restarts itself. (You'll know it's restarting when you see the apple come up on the screen.)

  • DVI to ADC adapter STudio display will not power on when used with Mac mini

I have a Mac mini and I just purchased a used apple 17" CRT studio display. I bought the DVI to ADC Adapter as recommended by my Apple store. When I hook everything up (I have checked and redone this two times) The power light will come on for about a second when presses. When the mini powers up there is a blank dark screen. I would appreciate any ideas on this. thanks!
Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.1)

    Hi
unfortunately I think the Apple store have sold you the wrong item.
I'm almost certain the DVI to ADC adapter only works with ADC based flat panel displays. DVI ports can output digital or analogue signals (or a combination of the two). The adapter seems to provide digital, which is why it works with the LCD displays, but not analogue, which is why it doesn't work with the CRT displays.
Confusingly Apple did a 17" Studio display both as a CRT and LCD.
Dr. Bott do a similar adapter but they explicitly state it's not compatible with the 17" CRT.
Unfortunately I'm not sure there's a solution, as the display has an ADC connector yet I'm not aware of any adapters available that will work.

  • Using S-Video output

I just got my universal dock, I plugged my audio output thru the line-out of the dock and used the S-Video port to connect to my TV, problem : the sound is playing but not the video, question : does the power port need to be plugged to, and/or do I need a special apple S-Video cable?

ok, so I turned to TV on signal in the Video setting menu, now I have video and sound, but the video is in black and white??? why???

  • Closing the iBook when using S Video

I was told, at the apple store, that if I bought an iBook and the Video Adapter, I could hook my ibook up to my high def tv. I recieved my adapter and computer yesterday and hooked it up to my 51 inch TV. I was pleased that I was able to get a pretty good picture after setting the preferences.
The issue Im having is that I cannot close my iBook without it going to sleep. The whole point of getting this was that I could get a bluetooth mouse and keyboard and browse from my couch.
Is there a way to set the mac to be able to continue to run while closed so that when I am hooked up to a monitor the screen does not have to run and wear down my battery? Please help.

If you know someone with another 65W power adapter I would try using it to see if it does the same thing. If it doesn't then you know to buy a new power adapter.
