  • USB wifi adapter with Firefox OS?

I recently bought a product called Via APC. It is similar to the Raspberry Pi, only it has Firefox OS pre-installed.
My question is, can I use a USB wifi adapter with Firefox OS? Will it recognize it automatically or will I need to do anything?

I would recommend contacting APC for more information...
    Thanks!

  • Old Apple USB Power Adapter with New Shuffle

I just purchased a shuffle (2nd gen) and was wondering if I can use the Apple USB Power adapter that I use for my ipod (5th gen - the adapter is about two years old) to charge it, or can I only use my computer? The Apple store shows that it's compatible with the newer adapters, so I'm assuming I should be fine, but wanted to make sure.
Also, is there anyway to check on the computer, once the shuffle is docked, how full the charge is or isn't?
    Thanks!!

    It should work... try it!

The only indication is the status LED, it's either orange for charging or
    green for "charged"...

  • Old Apple USB Power Adapter with new nano

Hi. I have an older Apple USB Power Adapter (model A1102) that I've been using with an Ipod Mini (bought it with the mini a long time ago). I have a new 3G nano on order. Will this power adapter work with the new nano? Or will I be forced to buy a new one?
Output from the adapter is 5V - 1.0A
    Thanks

Since I also converted from a Mini to a 3G Nano, I thought I'd give you a couple of pointers; I probably spent a couple of days preparing my existing mp3 library (and that says nothing about videos).
    1) Make sure all of your mp3's are NOT marked read-only and load everything you want into the NEW iTunes
    2) Work on collecting/saving the NEW things like album covert art and lyrics (I sometimes use the lyrics area to list musicians/personnel)
    3) Re-construct your playlists and SAVE everything (iTunes actually writes back to the mp3 files--that's why you don't want them read-only)
    4) Only then start messing with videos, because they tend to crash iTunes depending on your hardware, OS, etc. (for example, iTunes doesn't work well with Vista). My best advice for videos is use a 3rd party converter (like Nero Recode) to ensure iPod format compatibility; don't even waste your time with iTunes for anything that isn't a downloaded/purchased item.

  • Using iPod USB Charger A1102 with iPod nano 7g

    Hi,
I have an iPod USB Power Adapter (model 1102) that I used with my old iPod video 5.5g which sadly passed away after years of service.
I bought a new iPod nano 7g and I was wondering if I could use that adapter with it, since this new iPod uses this new "Lightning technology" (but still comes with an USB cable). I don't know if there might be issues with current values/tension/ etc..
Can I use it without damaging the iPod?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Yes, no problem.

  • Can I use a USB wireless adapter with my iMac G4 Flat Panel (it has no Airport card).

I have just salvaged an iMac G4 15-inch Flat Panel from the skip and now have it running Mac OS X Tiger 10,4. It has a 700mhz cpu, 80Gb hard drive and 512mb of Ram. No airport card is fitted so I was wondering if a USB wireless adapter could be used instead. I have a Belkin F5D8055ea USB wireless adapter fitted and the system recognises the device, this is as far as I have got as I am a complete novice on Apple/Mac machines. Anyone any ideas please?

If the device is recognised, see if you can located your wi-fi network using Airport Utility.

  • USB Charger Works With BF's iTouch But Not With Mine?!

Hello! My apologies for this being a bit long even though the problem is pretty straight-forward:
Both my boyfriend and myself have the iPod Touch 4 G. I bought mine a few months ago and bought his for a Valentine's Day present for him on Feb 14th of this year. So about a week and a half ago or so. So, the problem is with charging them. I have a Powerline dual usb wall/car charger that's been working fine for about three years. It will charge my tablet PC and it will also charge my boyfriend's iTouch. It will not, however, charge my iTouch. I can charge my iTouch through the computer or through our wifi router's usb port but as soon as I plug it into our wall charger: zip. If I plug it into the wall charger while the iTouch is turned completely off the iTouch will boot up instantly after being connected to the wall charger but it won't charge at all. Anyone have any suggestions?
Maybe I will just have to get a new wall charger for my iTouch. I really need one as I am going to be staying with my grandmother for the month of March and she has no computer or anything for me to charge my devices on other than the wall socket. It's just odd that my wall charger will charge my boyfriend's iTouch and mine will boot up when connected to it, but it won't charge it at all. Thank you for reading this and hopefully providing me with a workable solution. Oh, yeah, forgot to mention; I reset and restored my iTouch and tried it again. No luck. At least it's charging via other means; computer/wifi router, but I'd like to find out why the wall charger is only charging one of our iTouches.
I have tried resetting the device and I have also tried restoring it to factory settings and starting from scratch. I have tried other usb iPod usb cord/plugs, (we have three; one's mine, one's for my boyfriend's iTouch and one's left over from an upgraded iPod), and I have tried plugging the charger into different wall sockets. Like I said; it will charge the boyfriend's iPod fine and my iPod will boot up from complete shut down when plugged into the wall charger but it won't start charging.
    Thanks!

I am replying to my own question because this is how it was solved, for me at least. Since I was still within my 1-year warrenty I simply took my iPod Touch down to our local Apple Retail store and they traded me the faulty one for a brand new one. I went home, plugged it in to all the chargers one by one and every one works fine with the new one. So, if you have this problem, too, and are within your warrenty, I'd suggest going to your local Apple Retail Center and trading the old/faulty iPod for a new/better one.

  • How to use USB Y adapter with HDD 500GB V63700-A

    Hi,
My external HDD V63700-A500GB has difficulty working in my USB2.0 4 port adapter.
I thought perhaps it needs more power going into it.
So I bought a USB-Y but I can not figure out how to use it.
It has 2 male USB connector wires and a very small narrow one which does not go into the thin wide socket of the above HDD.
Anybody uses these things to advise me how to?
    ...... thanx
    .....nick

    Thanx Joel,
definitely looks like the correct one but, can you give me a link on where to get it?
I keep googling for a "USB-Y cable for external hd" with no luck.

  • Using ipod charge adapter with an iphone?

I was wondering if the ipod charge cable is compatiable with my iphone and vice versa? The man at att said no. What can someone else tell me about this question?

The chargers and cables for all iPods that use a USB dock cable are compatible with the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The only incompatible chargers/cables are the older FireWire based ones. Note that some car chargers for iPods actually use the FireWire pins in the dock connector for power, and thus do not work with the iPhone 3G or 3GS. It won't hurt to try, you'll just get a message on the phone that 'charging is not supported with this accessory'.

  • [SOLVED] Using a NETGEAR WN111v2 USB network adapter with Arch Linux

    Hello!
I just recently bought the adapter mentioned in the subject, and hoped to get it working with my lovely Arch Linux OS. (I had read somewhere online that it should work some way or another; ndiswrapper or a kernel driver). However, I've yet to get it working. I tried the tips I found:
    Here:http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? … ht=WN111v2
    which links to here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=885520
Basically, it tells me that I should use ndiswrapper with the arusb_xp drivers provided by NETGEAR. So I place the three files arusb_xp.inf, arusb_xp.sys and arusb_xp.cab in a folder, and run:
    sudo ndiswrapper -i arusb_xp.inf
    ndiswrapper -l
    arusb_xp : driver installed
    device (0846:9001) present
    sudo ndiswrapper -m
    sudo modprobe ndiswrapper
This should install my drivers, add an alias in modprobe.d/ndiswrapper saying "alias wlan0 ndiswrapper" and load ndiswrapper in itself... right?
But after a iwconfig I can still see only eth0 and lo, no wireless interfaces at all. I checked lsmod, but couldn't find any conflicting drivers loaded.
Anybody got an idea why it worked for the people with Ubuntu and not me? Any and all help greatly appreciated!
    Cheers
EDIT: For some magical reason, the drivers that came with my adapter did NOT work, while the drivers on the second link, named the same, DID. I have not inspected how they differ, but luckily, they work. Yey!

  • Does the Apple USB Ethernet Adapter work with a MacBook Air that's been updated to Lion?

I saw a comment at the online Apple store that the USB Ethernet Adapter didn't work with Lion. Anyone else have experience with the adapter?

Just point the tech rep to the apple website that lists the Ethernet to USB system requirements as:
    "Overview
The Apple USB Ethernet Adapter is a simple, one-piece external adapter that plugs into the USB 2.0 port of your MacBook Air to provide 10/100BASE-T performance. Simply plug your Ethernet cable into the RJ-45 connector — no external power is required. It’s small, light, easy to install, and even easier to use.

  • [N85] USB charging problem

    Hello all,
I tried to charge my N85 with an [non-Nokia] USB battery charger (Lenovo 90W Slim AC/DC Combo Adapter) via the Nokia Connectivity Cable (CA-101) to keep down the amount of chargers I have to carry.
But except of asking, which data connection profile I want to use, there is no charging at all.
Am I doing something wrong or is the N85 only chargeable by the original Nokia wall charger?
    Thank you

@sapporaby: Are you sure you have read my post completely? "Apple" is a brand o usb charger that does not work with my Nokia N85. It's a brand like "Kensington", with a usb charger that do work. I just want to know whether someone else has this problem usb charging problems too or if only my problem, and to make know @sicut that he is not the only one with usb charging problems with his Nokia N85 and his Lenovo charger.
@sapporaby, is it "apple" a word taboo for you? Why "kensington" is not taboo? Why "lenovo" is not taboo either?
    1. I have had every Mac made since 2003.
    2. I am typing this on a Mac now.
    3. I have had and still have every iPhone made.
    4. Same with every brand iPod.
    5. I am running Apple software right now and the Nokia for Mac software.
Is that taboo enough for you? DON'T ASSUME because now your taboo question is moot.
As for your the Apple charger does not work issue, my question still stands. While your Apple charger may have worked with your N95 there is no reason why it should work with your N85. Are they the same phone?. Is the N85 made by Apple? No again. Does the Apple charger supply the same charging voltage as the Nokia charger that came with the phone? These are issues that come into play. What is so hard to use the cable that came with the phone. It seems, and maybe I am wrong but you and the OP are making a mountain out of a moe-hill.
Just use the cable that came with the phone, in the USB port of your computer and be done with it. I am having a very hard time trying to understand what the problem is with using the cable.

  • USB Charger or Computer USB Port?

I have a new iPod touch for a friend and an Energizer USB Charger adapter

is it always safer to plug the ipod or the iphone in the USB port of a computer?

Yes to both. I prefer the USB on a computer, but have see no issue with the Energizer, provided it is for the iPod in question.
