Ac3 synch track

I think it would be wonderful if encore would create a synch track for you whenever you trim the video track. Maestro has this feature and it is wonderful. You trim the video all you want, add multiple video clips...so forth, then you right click on the audio track and select create synch track. Maestro takes into account the timecodes of the source video and constructs an audio track in ac3 audio that is perfect synch. No need to slide audio or trim audio or worry if it is out of synch.
I would love to post this to the enhancements request section, but I cannot seem to figure out how. there is no add topic link or a way to create a new request. anybody know how to?

You should be able to post in here now.
Alternatively, you can always submit feature requests directly - this gets to Adobe instantly - using http://www.adobe.com/support/feature.html
This is perhaps the best way to submit feature requests.
This is a very good idea, BTW.

It would normally help to know more about the source QT file' compression format(s). If the file is "muxed" MPEG-2/AC3 data in an MOV file container, then you can use MPEG Streamclip to "demux" the AC3 content directly to an "AC3" file container using the "Demux/Demux to AC3..." File menu option. If the AC3 track is an elementary stream within the MOV file container and if QT 7 has been upgraded for "Pro" use, then you could try extracting the AC3 track to a new player, ensure the AC3 track is selected/active in the new player, saving the new player as a new MOV file using the "Save As..." File menu option, manually change the extension from ".mov" to ".ac3" and try importing the re-named asset to Encore. (This probably only works if the importing app only checks the extension and not the container itself.) In a similar manner, if QT 7 is not upgraded for "Pro" use, you can use Subler to extract the AC3 track and save it as an M4V file whose extension can then be changed to ".ac3" in the finder.

  • Sync AC3 Audio to Video function problem

    Hi there,
I have an AC3 audio track with embedded time code and a video mpeg-2 segment with embedded timecode that I want to sync together. I use DVD Studio Pro 4.0.3.
In the help file it tells me to drag the audio from the Asset tab to the track editor while holding down the OPTION key.
But, when I do this, the track doesn't synch automatically and I have to do it manually anyway. Any thought on why it won't work ? It works on the Scenarist stations we have here and the tracks are made on profesionnal-grade encoders.
    Audio track (AC3)
    start time: 09:59:55:00
    end time: 10:59:36:12
    Video track (Mpeg-2)
    Start Time Code:09:59:59:00
    End Time Code: 10:02:41:07
I have searched the forums and support pages without finding any hints. Your help would be very appreciated. Thanks !

Thank you Colin. Yes indeed, I have read that part in the help file, but it just didn't make any sense to me at the time.
After running some test to figure it out, I found out that DVD Studio Pro will only sync my audio when the audio starting Time Code is later than the Video starting Time Code.
So in other words, DVDSP only adjust audio start time automatically but does trim the audio automatically, which is just a partial sync function according to me.
I sincerely hope that the development team will add this functionnality in a near future. As it is right now, the DVDSP auto-sync function is almost useless for us here. Moreover, the ability to sync AC3 audio to multiple video segment in the same track would be a great plus. I don't think it would be that hard to implement, but who knows ?
Well at least we can do it manually ! Thanks again Colin !

  • Solution Found - Media Go Synching Same Content Repeatedly

Problem - Media Go syncs same content to phone regardless of whether the content is currently on the device. This can lead to synching your library every time you open Media Go.
Known Phones Affected: Xperia Arc, Ray, Mini
Solution: Download Media Go version 1.8, currently available here:
    http://media-go.software.informer.com/screenshot/241893/
    Tested: May 9 2012
    Hi all,
I have the Xperia Mini but I have found threads with different phones having the same problem. I've just uninstalled 2.1 and installed 1.8 and my phone syncs PERFECTLY with Media Go. Media Go finds what media is on my phone then ignores synching that and only syncs what is missing. (finally!)
I have spotted some duplicates but I think I know why that is - for example, in iTunes, if I imported a CD while not connected to the Internet, it says track 1 track 2 etc. If using Media Go you clicked find media info. on Gracenote, it finds the track names then creates a copy of each song with the new info, whil ALSO synching track 1 track 2 because that is what is in iTunes. Get me so far? I think it's best that you don't use Gracenote to update your files, if you want to sych exactly iTunes to Xperia phone...
Well this solved the sync problem for me. I have the Xperia Mini...the others are also 2011 phones...this is important for the Media Go devs to know. Please report if this works for you or not!
    Good luck!
P.S. I have been testing version 2.0 and 3 times it syched with my phone correctly. Perhaps it's just the latest version 2.1 that creates problems? I will continue testing...version 2.0 can be found here: http://media-go.software.informer.com/2.0/

I will definitely forward this. Thank you for this update.

  • Differences between ac3 sound conformity

I saved on my Server a different sorts of ac3 "native" assets sound tracks.
That's means that I don't create it using a proper software.
All audio tracks playing normally on encore 1.5 and I can normally burn and hear on DVD stand alone, but after upgrade on version 2.0, lot of these tracks don't give any sort of sound.
What are the main conforming features of an AC3 audio track?
Do you know a software who can edit and conforming this?
    Thanks

sorry but is the first time I hear this... Do you mean "Encore conforms ac3 audio tracks? " It's strange because when I import the audio stream no operation will start and cpu is at zero.
    I cannot hear sound.
    Please refine your precious info

Just a note on MPlayer - there is currently two versions of it: -
    MPlayer 1.0pre8 rc4 - http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/18580
    And
    MPlayer 2.0b8r5 - http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/10784
What the difference between the two is I don't know, but someone asked the same question on MacUpdate and the reply was -

It's all very confusing, all I can say is that I use MPlayer 1 with no more problems than I get with VLC.
One other point. If anyone is having problems with .avi files with AC3 sound, have you tried Divx Doctor yet?

I know it used to be able to fix some problems with certain .avi files that had AC3 sound tracks.

  • Quicktime Video Conversion Not Preserving Multiple Audio Tracks

    Hi All,
I'm trying to convert a H.264 video file to a ProRes MOV using quicktime pro 7.
This is a video file that was created using Handbrake.
In Handbrake I am able to rip several audio tracks from a VOB. In this case I need to rip both the 5.1 audio and 2.0 audio. Instead of splitting this up into separate exports, I can attach both audio tracks to the H.264 mov. I can view and edit them in the Properties window of the video in quicktime.
So what I'm starting with is a video file with two Audio tracks:
    5.1 Surround: C,L,R,Ls,Rs,LFE + 2.0 Stereo: L, R
What I'd like to do is unite the two audio files to create an 8.0 track: L,R,C,LFE,Ls,Rs,Lt,Rt
By changing the naming of the stereo track from L,R to Lt,Rt in the properties windown, an option appears in the audio export settings to use the SMPTE DTV audio output (L,R,C,LFE,Ls,Rs,Lt,Rt). But when I use it, assuming it will recognize my naming structure and rearrange the tracks according, the export results in a stereo file.
What am I doing wrong?? All logic makes me assume that this should work...
I should note that when I open the H.264 in quicktime the 5.1 audio track is not enables (or clicked on) in the properties tab. I must turn it on for quicktime to recognize it in the inspector window. However, when I try to save the video it requires me to save my file in an MOV container.
When I try to simply export the file as a 8 discrete channels, it will export with 8 channels, but the first two are a stereo pair and the other 6 are silent tracks.
The only way I've found to keep these audio tracks together is to extract each audio unit separately (5.1 and 2.0) and then add one of the audio tracks to the other using the copy and "Add to Movie" feature. This is not my preferred workflow since I'd like to keep the audio and video together. I'm creating a workflow that will be repeated several times so the more I can streamline this process the better.
Please help. Any ideas would be great.

I don't think Quicktime Pro is able to export individual audio tracks.  It sounds like Handbrake create an AC3 sound track and a 2.0 channel stereo track.  I don't think iMovie will handle multi-track audio and Final Cut Pro X won't let you assign audio channels to individual outputs.
If you have the original VOB file, DVDxDV Pro will break it out to individual audio channels into separate AIFF audio files which you can then import into Final Cut Pro 7 and remix the audio that way.

  • Quick time audio, and ac3 filter

I recently downloaded some video clips, the video played well in Quicktime but there was no sound; one message from QT said ac3 audio isn't supported since it' no good I (QTpro) will dump the audio.
Hm....it came with High-Definition video clips.
A friend told me to go to
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/27300
-there I got MacOSX4 compatible software: the ac3 audio plugin, as well as instructions on which folders I should copy the software into, in OSX4.
Now my clips plays beautifully WITH sound- except if I try to merge 2 clips using QTpro-then the sound disappears-thanks to lackings in QTpro.
My questions: 1) What's with that arrogant "is no good" message about ac3 audio? No QT audio was ever better....
2)When does Apple pull itself together and provide full ac3 sound support in QT??
Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    1) What's with that arrogant "is no good" message about ac3 audio? No QT audio was ever better....
Have never seen such a message. If I attempt to open an AC3 audio file (without AC3 codec installed), I simply get a modal error message saying the file could not be opened. If I open a video file with an AC3 audio track, I am simply notified there is a missing component. Could you describe how you get this message?
2)When does Apple pull itself together and provide full ac3 sound support in QT??
Am hoping that Apple will be addressing the problem the first quarter of next year with the release of the "iTV" device. Seems like it would be a real waste to have a Toslink optical connector and not be able to connect AC3 to your A/V Dolby Digital decoder. Don't even care if the add any AC3 support. All I want them to do is add the pass through (encoded output) capability to QT/iTunes just as they have to their DVD Player or as VLC has had in their media player for some time now.
Now my clips plays beautifully WITH sound- except if I try to merge 2 clips using QTpro-then the sound disappears-thanks to lackings in QTpro.
Muxed MPEG-2 files are only MPEG-1 Layer-1/Layer-2 audio supported. If you want, you can use MPEG Streamclip (free) to convert files like decrypted/unencrypted VOBs directly to MPEG-2 with MP2. Files are simply de-muxed and the AC3 mixed down to stereo (default setting), converted to MP2 and muxed back with the original MPEG-2 with no loss in video quality. Files play fine with audio in QT Player with MPEG-2 component installed.

  • Create Video Wall Style Grid - Multiple Video Tracks

    Hi
I need to create a video wall style grid effect. Can anyone advise a quick way of doing this within Premiere and NOT going to After Effects? I have a large amount of different clips on separate video tracks I need to play in the 'wall' and would prefer to be able to manipulate and tweak if needed within PP
I've tried Red Giant Universe's Splitscreen Blocks and the FX Factory 'Video Wall' and neither go to the amounts I require, they cap at around 9-12 screens.
I'm aware I could do this manually as PIP effects but this would take a vast amount of time.
    Thanks!

  • Audio synch drifting in music video

    Hello-
I just sat down this morning to begin editing a music video shot in DVCPRO HD @ 24fps. The video is performance-based, and, at the shoot, the artists played along to the song from their album (the song was played from a CD and run through a PA) so that all the footage could be synched up to the track in editing.
However, when I lay the audio track down with a take from the shoot, the audio track (imported from their album and converted into AIFF format) gradually loses synch with the video. I've edited several music videos using this same format (the same cameras, even) and have never encountered this problem. The audio settings for the captured video and the audio from the CD match (48khz, 16 bit).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

the issue was that the synch track was played from a CD (on an older cd player, which may or may not have contributed to the problem). The track from the cd fell out of synch with the AIFF as the song progressed, I assume due to the fact that the CD is physically spinning, creating a variable on how fast the data can be read from it (even though there was no discernible difference in speed to my ears or to the artists who wrote and recorded the song) . So, I ended up running that same CD player into my computer and importing the track from the player in real time, which synced up perfectly.

  • Joining .m4v H.264 files that contain AC3 audio

    Hi,
I have several .m4v files with AC3 audio created for home movies using Handbrake.
I am trying to find a way to join these files into a single .m4v file while retaining the AC3 audio track.
QuickTime Pro allows pass-through for the video to eliminate the need for H.264 re-encoding but I don't see a "pass-through" option for AC3 audio in QT Pro.
QT Pro only allows an option for conversion to Stereo AAC.
Does QT Pro simply NOT support AC3 pass-through? Or is there some setting I need to know about?
If this is a known limitation of QT Pro, are there alternative options on Windows 7 for achieving what I am trying to do here?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Never mind - I figured it out.

  • Multicam issues with inability to synch

I've shot some footage on two GoPro Hero2 cameras with the audio recorded using a Zoom H1 and a Lavalier mic.
Because the Hero2 formats the SD card as a FAT32, it can't create a file larger than 4GB.  So for any recording that goes over that limit, a second, thrid, and/or fourth file is created until we either run out of card or battery power.
The Zoom H1 however, merrily chugs along recording the entire sequence in one file.
So I create my first multicam, using the audio as synch and the two frist GoPro files.  That works fine.
I give unique camera angle numbers to the next two Gor Pro files, retain the original number for the audio track, and try to multicam synch them, but it fails.  All I end up with is the audio track.
Is this approach wrong or am I just having a bad day?

OK, I tried some multicam manual settings and here's where I've ended up:
The clip browser shows the multicam clip with an audio track and an all black video track.
In the time line, I have the audio track and my two GoPro tracks that I'm trying to synch.  I have them manually synched, but what next?
There doesn't seem to be a "Done" button. I'm stuck here with my manually synched tracks and the black multicam clip in the clip browser.
Not sure how I should move on.  Just go back in Timeline history?  That simple or more to the game?  I don't want to screw up the synch (it took long enough).

  • Preserving AC3 passthru when exporting

    Hello all,
I have a movie file, extension .m4v that I made from HandBrake on the AppleTV 2 setting, and the only audio info included in this file is the AC3 passthrough track (which is 5.1 surround).  I wanted to set a poster frame for the movie, and I did, but then it asked me to save the movie file.  So I did, but the new movie was only in 2-channel stereo.  So now I'm thinking I should set the poster frame, but instead of saving, I should export it.
My question: is there a way to export this file and maintain the AC3 passthrough track without having to convert it?  Or, a more to-the-point question, is there a way to add a poster frame to a movie file without having to convert the AC3 track into something else?
    Thanks for all your help!
    Ben

I wanted to set a poster frame for the movie, and I did, but then it asked me to save the movie file.
How did you set the poster frame? How did you "save" the movie? For what use? For example, using QT 7 Pro to set the poster frame (as a referenced movie frame) and then using the "Save As..." option should save all source file tracks in their original compression format to a new MOV file container along with the the correct movie frame referenced as the "poster" image. On the other hand, iTunes can also set a frame of a movie as a "poster" image but stores it differently. Both methods create a "poster" image that can be used by apps programmed to use them. However, an "poster" image created by the latest version of ITunes would not be recognized by the QT 7 Player.
My question: is there a way to export this file and maintain the AC3 passthrough track without having to convert it?  Or, a more to-the-point question, is there a way to add a poster frame to a movie file without having to convert the AC3 track into something else?
No. You could, I suppose, remux the source AC3 audio track with an exported video track but the act of exporting the video will, by its very nature, remove your "poster" image/frame reference.

  • INTERLACING ARTIFACT promblem on DVD burn from HD uncompressed clip

    Hello,
I'm trying to export a long feature film that has been exported from After Effects to HD uncompressed 10-bit in HDTV (rec. 709) color space, 1920x1080, 29.97.
The original footage was ProspectHD 10-bit digitized from HDTV tapes shot using SONY HVR-Z1U.
The HD clips are flawless, I use them with a Dolby Digital Surround AC3; there 6 clips lined up, since putting all together makes for a to massive clip to handle smoothly.
Encore takes about 40 hours to re-encore to burn it to either a blu-ray or DVD.
The result is ok in most of shots, but when action get quicker or camera jerkier or fades are involved; then, I get interlace artifacts, I see unsynched fields effets where lines aren't lined up properly.
Sometimes it goes as far as a region on color  (like a sky) falling appart for a few frames; in fades mostly, but not mostly.
I've seen many stuff on this forum about interlacing problems, but nothing I could tie down to my exact problem...
Should I pre-encode my clips to mpeg2 DVD ready before doing the burning ?
    Should I deinterlace them ?
If I do deinterlace them, wouldn't this affect synch with audio clip ?
What about the deinterlace button option in Encore ?
If I pre-encode (deinterlacing or not) before burning, won't Encore recompress it when burning DVD ?
If it does wouldn't I loose quality this way ?
To stop this, can I do lie I did for my already encoded AC3 audio track ; mark clip as "do not re-encode" ?
    Thank you.
    Sincerely,
    Frédéric
