MASTER-DVD from ISRAEL

Just a note on MPlayer - there is currently two versions of it: -
MPlayer 1.0pre8 rc4 - http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/18580
And
MPlayer 2.0b8r5 - http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/10784
What the difference between the two is I don't know, but someone asked the same question on MacUpdate and the reply was -
http://www.macupdate.com/reviews.php?id=18580&pid=124468
It's all very confusing, all I can say is that I use MPlayer 1 with no more problems than I get with VLC.
One other point. If anyone is having problems with .avi files with AC3 sound, have you tried Divx Doctor yet?
http://www.3ivx.com/divxdoctor/
I know it used to be able to fix some problems with certain .avi files that had AC3 sound tracks.

  • Pops sounds when Decoding AC3 with audigy

Hi, i want to make audigy zs decode ac3, doing the following:
in powerdvd 6 , i set to spdif out, and in audigy "use internal decoder" is enabled, it works fine with dts decoding, but with ac3 there's pops sounds during loud scenes, if i enable "dynamic range compress" in AudioHQ, the pops sounds disapears but the dynamic range is gone too, something i don't want because i really want to enjoy that sound.
Is there a way to listen the wide range sound of AC3, i mean with dynamic range enable without the pops sounds that produce when decoding ac3 with audigy zs?
someone has tried this or there's no chance to do it at all!

Well, a think all of you are not telling the truth, because you dont' even test it in the scene i mention(Lord of thr rings)
For you to know, there's movies that there's no pops sounds at all, like the original star wars trilogy, shrek , no problem, but in LOTR trilgy there's a problem.
Now for BigBen he said something different in:
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=3043&quer y.id=4735#M3043
In that forum, i had and old computer Pentium III 500 MGHZ, that didnt,t work anything, Dvd audio, dts, ac3 decoding. nothing.
    I tried all and nothing.
finally i gave in, and bought another cpu because maybe it was an issue of the mother card,
i bought a Compaq DeskPro En(Pentium III 000MGHZ). now all the problems i had before are gone, except for the pops sounds in Ac3 decoding in LOUD SCENES, now this is common problem for most users, now if you say you don't have, well try lord of the rings Trilogy, Return of the king!

  • Using ac3 with quicktime.

Ihave recently tried to add the AC3 component to quicktime by "dropping" it in the /library/quicktime folder and have had no results, I have only a picture with no sound to go with it can anyone suggest another/the right way to repair this?

You must quit and relaunch QuickTime after installing third party components.
The software is probably not "Intel" aware. If you have an Intel machine you'll need to use Rosetta.

  • Problems encoding an AC3 with compressor

When I use the batch surround group, import all 6 surround files (L C R Ls Rs LFE, all are individual mono AIFF files at 48khz/16bit), and export a 5.1 AC3 - I open the exported file in QT using a AC3 decoder plug-in ( http://trac.cod3r.com/a52codec ), and then look at the sound properties, and it shows only the L&R channels in the properties (along with 2 unknown channels & 2 unused channels, totaling 6 looking in the sound settings). The odd thing that other AC3s that were encoded with the older A.Pack that came with DVDSP3 work just fine in QT (and show all 6 channels properly assigned). One thing i should also mention, is that when i mute all of the channels (except the main L & R) with the Compressor exported AC3, the audio seems to have been mixed down from all of the original 6 tracks into the L and R. This is very frustrating and have spent awhile trying to figure this out. Help would be much appreciated. Jared

  • Playing video 5.1 (ac3) with Quicktime?

Please, how can I play video with 5.1 audio (ac3) in Front Row or Quicktime? Every time, I am trying it, I got just horrible noise, undecoded sound. I have usb sound card M-Audio sonica theatre + Perian 1.1.1 + (Quicktime Pro). I don't know why, but vlc can play video even with 5.1 audio. Quicktime just stereo.
A possible solution could be replacing Quicktime with vlc (in Front Row) but I can't suppose anyone from Apple will allow this ...
So should I want for new fix of Quicktime or can I do something myself?

Sorry I was gone for a couple of days, I went to Disneyland...

I never did try it myself. But, as far as I know, the QuickTime Player application requires specific hardware to output multi-channel audio. The m-audio Sonica devices do not fulfill QuickTime's requirements.

  • Clueless how to mate the AC3 sound file given me with my video project

Hi gang. This morning I started researching how to do this, but haven't figured it out yet.
My DSLR projct has ben edited on Premiere Pro CS5. I created the project in stereo and once I picture locked, outputted an OMF file to the sound mixer.
He just delievered to me an AC3 file. I've no idea what to do next.
I'd like to mate the AC3 with my video, of course. Do I do that in Premiere Pro? Do I export an uncompressed AVI video file and somehow mate the two together somewhere else?
    Clueless here.
(of note: This Friday I am having a screening of three of my short films, including this one. The screener will be on DVD and has to be an auto play DVD, something you can pop into the player, no menus, it just plays and goes from video to video. I created a couple test DVD's in Encore and it worked.)
Heres all the specs for the export:

  • AppleTV with AAC+AC3 and Multi Languages

    Hi!
I've an Apple TV, and I have succeeded to have AAC + AC3 in a single movie, thus allowing me to play it with 5.1 surround in my receiver.
However, I would like to have another language at the same movie.
According to this article, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1755, you can have AAC + AC3, but it doesn't mention if it is possible or not to have more tracks.
So, now with Apple TV 2.2, I can push and hold play/pause for options during the movie play, and that allows me to choose a new chapter or new audio tracks.
I created a movie1.m4v, with the following characteristics in "Show Movie Properties" of QuickTime:
    movie1.m4v
    Video Track - H.264
    Stereo - AAC (English)
    Stereo - AAC (Portuguese)
Text Track - Text (chapter marks)
    It works perfectly!
Now, let me try the AC3 with a single language:
    movie1.m4v
    Video Track - H.264
    Stereo - AAC (English)
    Surround - AC3 (English)
Text Track - Text (chapter marks)
Works perfectly too! I can have dolby digital surround in my receiver!
Time to add the second language with AC3:
    movie1.m4v
    Video Track - H.264
    Stereo - AAC (English)
    Surround - AC3 (English)
    Stereo - AAC (Portuguese)
    Surround - AC3 (Portuguese)
Text Track - Text (chapter marks)
Chaos! None of the AC3 tracks works, even though Apple TV allows me to choose the track through play/pause options. The AAC for English and Portuguese works, but none of the AC3.
So, the question is: is it possible to have multiple languages with AAC + AC3 in a single movie and be able to play it on AppleTV?
    Thanks! =)

i got the same result... don't know what the deal is..

  • Why still no AC3 5.1 export?

It puzzles me that Adobe tries to present Production Premium CS6 as a complete solution for video editing and disc authoring, but yet it lacks a simple option to export as AC3 in 5.1 channels. As far as I know, every other NLE has the option, at least I know Edius and Vegas do, and if I remember correctly, even the old FCP had it through Compressor. But new versions of Premiere keep coming out, and still no 5.1 AC3, unless of course you want to spend $300 in that Surcode encoder, which is like a bad joke. "Hey, you just paid a ton of money for the Production Premium package, but if you want 5.1 AC3, you have to spend another $300."
I was lucky that I had an older version of Vegas and I got an email from Sony that yesterday the upgrade to the newest version was only $99.95, so I bought it and now I can export 5.1 AC3, with the extra step of exporting a 6 channel wave file, importing it into Vegas and then exporting from there. I understand that many of the people that use Premiere might send the uncompressed file to some audio lab for encoding, but not everybody has the budget to do that, which would be pointless anyway if you already did the mix in Premiere or Audition and only need to export to AC3 for a DVD or Blu-ray.
Annoyingly enough, I exported a 6 channel wave file from Premiere, imported it into Vegas and exported it as 5.1 AC3, but when I loaded it in Encore it allows the file to go untranscoded for a Blu-ray disc, but it requires recompress for DVD (of course without 5.1 since it's not available in the quality presets), so if I have the same project that needs to be authored to both disc formats, I would have to do one with Encore and the other with Sony's DVD Architect. Absolutely ridiculous for what is supposed to be a complete solution. And the AC3 encoder in Vegas is Dolby certified.
Unless of course I missed something and it's available somewhere, but I did a search for both AC3 and Dolby in both the Premiere and the Audition PDF manuals and there's no mention of it.

In the case of Sony Vegas, Sony has a direct licensing agreement with Dolby Labs. Because of the nature of the Sony license, they can offer DD 5.1 SS on some pretty inexpensive programs. Though I doubt that Sony would respond, I do agree with Jim Simon, that one would have to inquire of those companies, exactly how they do the licensing.
Adobe does not, so licenses the DD through Minnetonka Audio, and the SurCode encoding module.
Some NLE's offer 5.1 SS encoding, but not DD certified 5.1 SS. In those cases, the DD 5.1 SS logo cannot be applied to the DVD's, or BD's, as it can if the SurCode module is used, with but a little paperwork. I do not have a list of the certified, and non-certified DD encoding, but a bit of research on the Dolby Labs Web site might yield such info.
Also, Minnetonka does not charge that much more for the SurCode encoding module, above the licensing fee that they pay to Dolby Labs. I was surprised at how expensive that license was, relative to the price of the SurCode module, when I inquired about "volume licenses" from Minnetonka. They were very forthcoming with details, some years ago - also, at that time, they offered a special Adobe-user license deal, but that was dropped a bit later, and, unless something has changed, the fee for Premiere users is the same as buying directly from Minnetonka Audio.
    Just some observations,
    Hunt

  • How to hear the 5.1 sound when watching some TV chanels that are transmited with A

    Hi all,
I've got some question that i haven't found an answer to on goole, finnaly i've decided to try to search at source - at Creative site. I've read many post on this forum but it seems there isn't answer for my problem.
I have got:? TV satellite receiver with? optical? out (spdif Toslink),? SB? X-Fi Audio PCI-E (with spdif In and out) and 5. speakers from Genius.
After i have connected everything (sat (OPT OUT) to sb (OTP IN) and sb to speakers) it works great as stereo but when i turn on AC3 (when watching channel which supports it) on my satelite reci'ver i can't hear any sound
In " Digital Connections, SPDIF and Dolby Digital Info" topic i've founded chatper about decoding AC3 with Sound Blaster. "2) Decode the AC3/DTS with your Sound Blaster." It is a little different explamle then my, so please can anybody tell me, how to do it ? How to set SB settings ? Should i download some additional software that will must be runing when watching TV (I dont know maybe there is something like "acti've decoder of AC3"). Maybe it it not possible at all
I just want to hear the 5. sound when watching some TV chanels that are transmited with AC3.
    Please help me .
    Best regards Arek.
P.S. 5. sound works, when watching DVD or avi movies with AC3 filter

with X-fi Xtreme Audio it is not possible to decode DD from spdif-in

  • AC3 Question - A.pack??

    Hi,
I have a large project, too large for DVDSP v.3 to fit on a 4.7GB DVD-R. I have heard that converting my aif audio files to AC3 can free up some space.
The problem is, I can't find any way to convert them. I have FCP 4.5 which as far as I can see doesn't include a.pack.
Any help would be much appreciated.

ac3 comes with dvd sp 1,2 and 3 but not 4, they did away with it and put it on compressor 2. if your still using compressor 1 and dvdsp3, then use ac3 thta came with it, a lot of people with dual cpu's complain of it crashing a lot though, i had many problems with ac3 with my dual cpu, no problems with compressor 2's ac3 converter. i was told that if you use mac janitor right before ac3 (old version with dual cpu probs) that it fixes it, but you have to run it before everytime.

  • Encoding AC3 produces low audio in CS3

    Hi All!
I'm trying to encode a .wav file to ac3 with the surcode plugin that I have purchased, and the resulting ac3 file is quieter than the original .wav.  I know this is normal, but I need it to match the original as close as possible.  I've read that if you set the Dialog Normalization to -31, and the Dynamic Compression Preset to 'None', the resulting file should match more closely.  The thing is, I swear I've done that in the past, and it worked, but now, it doesn't.
I'm producing a stereo track, with Complete Main selected, and can't think of anything else!
    Any help/thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Mike

Totally agree Steve - the BBC have said the same to me in the past
Dialogue Normalization is a funny old setting - it actually refers to the amount of attenuation applied to the audio source with -31db meaning no attenuation, which should mean that the volume of the audio is preserved throughout the compression process.
There's a lot more to this, of course, have a look here for some plain explanations:

  • Batch AC3 encoding from MP2 or MPA audio files

    Hello all!
I've been using bbDemux and mpgtx Demuxer to demultiplex my MPG-2 files captured with Telestream.
The result is an .m2v file (video stream) and an .mpa (audio stream from bbDemux) or .mp2 (audio stream from mpgtx).
When I put the .mpa or .mp2 files into Compressor 2 and try to convert them to .ac3 with the "Dolby 2.0" preset, I get an .ac3 file that contains no audio.
(I am checking to see whether or not it has audio by dragging it to an audio channel in DVDSP4).
In the past, before Compressor 2 came out, I would convert these .mpa or .mp2 files to .aif with Cleaner before converting to .ac3 with A-Pack.
Does anyone here know why Compressor 2 can't convert the MPEG-audio files to .ac3? It would save me a lot of valuable time to be able to do this!
Thanks in advance for any help or advice --

i set compressor to no compression and complete main. is there something i'm missing.
Try adjusting the Dialog Normalization setting to -31.
Setting it to -31 effectively negates the feature and maintains your previous audio level.
And, yes, volume getting reduced is a normal thing when compressing .ac3 (so long as Dialog Normalization is on).

  • Downmix and a.pack (Ac3)

Hi, I'm using a.pack 1.5.4 to encode audio files in ac3. The I create a DVD with DVD studio Pro.
Everything is Ok, except downmixes which are far less loud and dynamic than the 5.1 result.
It's my ampli which decode, but this problem does not exist whith commercial DVDs.
Is the A.pack not so good, (i've tried many setttings), or???
Thank you for your answers !

  • A.pack not showing AC3 for encode results

I'm using a.pack 1.5.4 to attempt to convert an .aiff file that I got out of Compressor 1.2.1 to an AC3 file. When I select "encode" the file name it suggests has .aif at the end intead of .ac3. I trashed the A.Pack preferences but it did not change anything. What am I doing wrong?

  • Aiff to ac3 for bitrate too high

I'm getting a "bitrate too high" note as I try to build my dvd and the thing fails. I've read in this forum the suggestion to change an aiff file to an ac3 file to allow for more of a bitrate to be allocated to the video, but I can't find anything that will convert it. Compressor doesn't have this option (or, at least my versions doesn't) and I've culled through various other programs to no avail.
My head's a little mushy from hitting it against the wall. Any ideas/advice (short of throwing the computer away) would be greatly appreciated.

    Jlab:
Before Compressor 2.x you need to use A.Pack application to encode to AC3. You'll find it in your Application folder. Use this tutorial about Encoding AC3 with A.Pack (from KenStone site).
    Good luck !
