ACC encoding preference change

I'm trying to change speed of ACC encoding to 128kbps for Iphone downloads and have downloaded I tunes onto laptop.I'm told that to change encoding speed I need to go to I tunes "edit" then preferences and into general settings etc. but am having trouble locating where the "edit" option is in itunes.Thx

Press CTRL+B to show the menu bar.
If you want to have higher quality versions in your library and then downsample what goes on the iPhone that can be done on the fly during syncing. See the Options section of the Summary tab when your device is connected.

There's something else going on. When you search, the search box searches the Spotlight database that it created when indexing. It doesn't search the computer again. I suspect a hosed index. System Preferences->Spotlight->Privacy->delete all volumes and readd them back in. That should reindex the computer and all attached HDs. BTW, by default there are many places Spotlight doesn't return information from, mainly the various Library folders and the System folder. If you want to find everything, do this:
Click on the Desktop, CMD+F, click on Kind button, select Other, drill down to File invisible, check it, continue down to System files, check it, and click OK. Now, click on + button, click on the left-hand item and select System files and select are included, click on the plus button, click on the left-hand item and select File visibility and select visible or invisible, select File Name, save the search, drag its icon to the Dock, and use to search your entire Mac—currently starts with By Name, but Contents is available. I use this instead of CMD+F or CMD+spacebar for all searches.

  • Preferences Change in DNG Converter 4.6 Doesn't Persist

I am using DNG Converter v4.6.0.30 on a Mac running OS X 10.6.2 and I'm noticing that preference changes do not persist in the next session.  I'm trying to change "embed original RAW file" and the next time I run the program, the setting is unchecked.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program (moving the preference file to a difference location).  After reinstalling the application, there is no preference file in the ~/library/preferences folder.
I checked the contents of the com.adobe.DNGConverter.plist file and it only contained items pertaining to Default Folder X (for example, one of the items was DefaultFolderX:NSNavOpenPanel:column.width).  I relaunched DNG Converter and the preference file was created, but it only contained one item - bplist00—_&NSNavBrowserPreferedColumnContentWidth#@g@.  I reopened DNG Converter and selected "embed original RAW file" and then closed the application.  I checked the preference file and it still did not have anything pertaining to "embed original RAW file."
How can I get DNG Converter to "remember" the preferences I selected?
    Thanks,
    Rocky

You do need ACR 8.4 for the A5000.   I would buy Elements from Adobe not the Mac app store so upgrades work better.
The DNG Converter should work, though.  You need to single-click on the folder with the raw files in it, rather than open it to reveal the raw files.  They are grayed out because the DNGC needs to work with a FOLDER not a file, so if you can see the files, then you’ve clicked down into the folder and go back up one, and just select the folder name.

  • System Preferences Changing Without User Input

I have one user who has had random system preferences change without her input.
She is a network user connecting to a Lion 10.7.5 Server via OD.
Her desktop is Lion - 10.7.4
Example:  Today her setting for Security and Privacy to require a password on screen saver wake-up was changed/no longer checked.
Her setting to be able to use a right click on her mouse changed 3x last week without input.
    Any ideas?

If you are asking if the user is defined more than once, the answer is no.  Just one entry.

  • Character Encoding is changing random

    Hello,
For a short while I'm having the next problem:
When I am using FireFox, after a while characters on pages are showed as 'boxes'. With setting backView -> Character Encoding to ISO-8859-1 the characters are shown correctly again.
I do not understand why the character encoding is changing random to UTF-8, while I have selected the ISO-8859-1 and set automatically recognize to false.
In the options menu I have also set default 'ISO-8859-1' as default character encoding.
Hoping someone can tell me why it random changes and why the same page can be show correctly for 10 times, but the 11th time the character set has changed? And of course how can I solve this problem.

I do know a website can determine the character encoding, but the strange part of the problem I occur is that the same page can be shown 10 times correctly, but an 11th time the characters like é and ë, are shown as 'blocks'/'questionmarks'.
Is there an explanation for that behaviour?

  • Appleworks Preferences change won't hold

This is not really a problem - it just requires time to keep redoing the same thing. Every time I restart my iBook, I need to reset Appleworks Preferences > General > At Startup, Show: 'Nothing', and then click the option box to show "Font Menu in Actual Fonts." I then click "OK". But the next time I shut down, and later restart, it has reverted back to the defaults. How can I get my changes to hold so that I don't need to keep making the preference changes again and again?
    Thanks!

    Hello
Save the script as an application and store it where you want.
Open the System Preference named (in french) "Comptes".
Click the tab named (in french) "Ouverture".
Drag and drop the script's icon in the area containing the list of apps to open at startup.
At the very end of the script listing you may read:
From the Script Editor, save this script as an Application.
Before using it, quit Appleworks 6,
    trash your AppleWorks preferences files:
    "com.apple.appleworks.plist" ( OS X only )
    "AppleWorks:AppleWorks 6 Assistants Cache"
    "AppleWorks:AppleWorks 6 Preferences"
    "AppleWorks:AppleWorks 6 Translators Cache"
    -- "AppleWorks:AppleWorks 6 Button Bars"
    Restart AppleWorks.
Reset your preferences and rebuild the button bar as you want.
Quit AppleWorks. Now you have CLEAN preferences files.
    Open the folder "Preferences:AppleWorks"
    Create a subfolder named: "AWprefsBackup"
Copy in it the five CLEAN prefs files already listed.
Now you will be able to use the script.
Each time you will call it, it will replace the "in use"
preferences files by copies of the clean stored ones.
So you will be free of preferences corruption.
Thanks to Dale GILLARD who gave me the info
allowing me to grab the pathname of the "in use" preferences folder.
    MORE:
I have added two resetted preferences files:
    "com.apple.applescript.plist"
    "com.apple.ScriptEditor2.plist"

Never seen this before. This morning I noticed that Software Update icon in System Preferences changed from the regular one to a BIG switch. Noticed this only in MBP.

  • HT1645 I have changed the encoder preference to all the different settings but it still wont burn my cd! What should I try next?!

What should I try next? I have a movie in iDVD all set up to go and it keeps telling me that there is an encoding error, so I have changed it to all three settings but it still wont burn and shows me the same error.

    Hi
    • Delete iDVD pref. file
    iDVDpref. file resides.----> Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named. (one or more of these)
    com.apple.iDVD.plist
com.apple.iDVDApp.plist (may be ? - not sure this exist)
    and find
    com.apple.iApps.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this/these file/s out on to desk-top.
    Now restart iDVD.
If You run Mac OS X.7 or more - then the Library in the User-account folder is invisibly and need to be set to be viewable. IT IS NOT in the Library on Root level (when opening MacintoshHD - first window = root level)
( It can be done like this: Open Terminal, then enter: chflags nohidden ~/Library
Press return, then restart, and it will always be visible until the next major update, when you do the same thing again. )
But there are better ways to do this - but as I'm only in Mac OS X.6.? - I have no hand on know how - but the above way works if carefully done.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Audio encoding preferences

I see that Encore gives me the opportunity to change my project preferences for audio encoding to one of 4 settings, starting with 9 mbps as the highest, and defaults to 8 mbps. Is it best to set it to 9 for quality unless space is an issue? Or is there another reason for the different settings that I don't understand?

A BURNED disc is not going to play as well as a PRESSED disc... which is part of the reason the movie studios are able to produce discs that play "everywhere"
    To
Burn Error Proof DVDs (Well, close to error proof!)
Use the SLOWEST possible burn option your burner will allow in Encore, since it is much better to take a bit more time burning the disc than it is to burn "fast" and have a disc that won't play
Set the VIDEO portion of the transcoding options to a Maximum of 7,000 so your burned disc will have a better chance at playing in desktop players (which support burned discs, if at all, only as an "after thought" of the DVD specification)
Use AC3 or PCM audio transcode settings for best player compatibility (some discussion of MPEG audio not being supported by all players)

  • Compressor encoded speed change clip with echo as motorboat sound

Took me two days to troubleshoot, through trial and error and process of elimination, why Compressor encoded an audio clip that had been speed changed and echo applied to it -- as rapid MOTORBOAT sound! Project is a 5.1 mix. Since STP3 won’t accept speed change clips, after I completed mix in STP I placed speed changed clips on FCP timeline below the exported STP 5.1 mix with the FCP audio tracks for that clip assigned to channels 1 & 2 for the fronts and channels 5 & 6 for the rears. The clip on 5 & 6 was duplicated and identical in every way to the clip on channels 1 & 2. Only the dupe clip on 5 & 6 did Compressor encode as motorboat. The identical clip on 1 & 2 encoded correctly. Both clips were set to play at same time since I wanted the effect to be on fronts and rears simultaneously. I could not get the motorboat sound to play back from either FCP timeline or Compressor preview window. Only after encode and burn to DVD did it show up. Why would Compressor introduce such artifacts on one of the clips and not both – if it’s going to do it at all – which it shouldn’t? Any ideas? I have other such effects throughout the project where I duped a speed changed clip with an effect applied to it and set it to play on fronts and rears simultaneously and Compressor encoded those correctly.

Well, it's a little late, but this is one of the reasons to have your startup drive cloned so you can restore it to a working state if an update, upgrade or install sends things south.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2494
Have you tried resetting your fcp preferences
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2491
If this doesn't fix the problem, you could try sending the shot to motion.  You could aslo try changing the speed in the motion tab of the viewer.

  • DVD Studio Pro 4 Encoding Preferences

    Hello,
I have 40GB of MOV files and they all have this specs:
    - 640x480
    - 4000kbps bitrate
Now, when I go to DVD Studio Pro -- Preferences -- Encoding -- SD DVD... I have the bit rate so, lets say for instance 4000kbps bit rate, I import a video file (AVI, MOV or others), DVD Studio Pro will convert that file to 4000kbps encoding on MPEG-2 (.m2v files), right? Now, what about if I change the bit rate to 2000kbps, now the file I just transfered to DVD Studio Pro becomes smaller, and the quality gets a bit lower, but it is ok, what I really need is to fit my home videos to at least 2-4 DVD, of not, that would be a shame if it didnt work as I wanted. So, 2000kbps, the quality is good, not bad... Now here is my question...
Can I change the bit rate to 1000kbps,, 1500, or even lower than that? How? Why cant DVD Studio Pro have this option of a bit rate lower than 2000kbps, how can I do it? Is there any trick, please advice, I am trying to do this encoding for a month and I really need to finish it for the next week and put it on my DVD Presentation.
Is there any plugins or that sort of things that can HAVE the option of lower than 2000kbps bit rate constant on DVSP4?
Thank you for reading this, any help would be really appreciated...
    iMac 20" - Intel Core Duo 2GHz, 512MB RAM, 128MB ATi Radeon X1600, 1TB of HDs   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hello,
As always, thank you for helping me out. The thing is, I already used compressor. For instance, I encoded a 14MB MOV file in compressor to MPEG-2 (M2V) and Dolby (AC3) and the file was about 8MB (M2V Video File + AC3 Audio File = about 8MB), in a bit rate of 2mbps, and the wuality was terrible! I oculd see the pixels everywhere, it had a terrible quality. So, when I imported the MOV file (14MB) to DVSP4 without using compressor, the size it took on the DVD Project was 8.8MB and the quality was the same as my MOV file, perfect quality, great, I loved it. And look at this, my DVSP4 preferences was set for 2000kbps bit rate encoding, and with a great quality. That is why I wanted sooo much to find a way to encode my videos to DVSP4 in a lower bit rate, so I could put all of my 40GB of Home videos in about 2-4 DVDs... but now I will have to put it all in about 6-7...
Any advices? I dont want and I cant use Compressor because the quality DVD`is realllly poor. Ive searched everywhere for a encoder that can actually encode my videos to a MPEG-2 format (that means the format DVSP4 uses for DVD Video Encoding) but I simply cannot find one!! Ive tried to PCs and Macs... none of them has worked.
    Please help, thank you...
