Acccented characters in received email on iphone display incorrectly

acccented characters in received email on iphone display incorrectly, although tehy are correct on email message displayed on PC

Normally that should not happen unless the emails have erroneous or missing "charset =" statements in their "content-type" header.  Unfortunately on the iPhone there is no way for the user to compensate for this kind of issue.  Could you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?

How do you show reply, forward, and delete options in received email on Iphone 4

What IOS are you running on the phone?
When you open an email, at the bottom of the screen you should see a tool bar of icons. The curved back arrow will bring you to either forward or reply an email. The little trash can will let you delete an email.
Are you not seeing the tool bar?

  • Receiving emails on iphone but not on laptop...

    Hey
My Iphone seems to almost be 'stealing' emails from my computer so much that they can only be accessed on the phone - it didn't do this initially, only recently, and it doesn't do it with one of my two accounts and only with selected emails in my default account.
Also, when I tried to access the emails on iphone, it says 'message could not be downloaded from the server' and there is a particularly important email which I can only read the 5 previewed lines of in the inbox as it isn't appearing in Windows Mail.
    Any help???

    Hi Jemina13,
One thing you might also want to check out is your spam settings.
The iphone does not have a spam filter.
If you updated your antivirus or spam filter on your computer this might cause the issue that your are explaining about misc email not downloading to the computer but shows on the iphone.
Now the issue about the content of this message not available for download, could be a pop3 issue as suggested by m.bode. When the iphone initially receives an email, it just downloads the header. Then when you tap on the email, it downloads the body of the email. If the iphone has downloaded the header of the email, but the computer has downloaded and erased the message of the server, there is nothing left on the email server for the iphone to download. So, when you tap on the email to view it, you get the error message you explained.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't receive emails on iphone 4s

I was receiving emails on both my Iphone 4s and my laptop until 2 days ago.
    Help, please!

For some reason each time I "delete account" it reappears.  I deleted & then quickly added a new account and both showed up, yet I still can't get emails on either device.  Frustrating!!  Thanks for trying to help.

  • Cannot receive emails FROM iPhone

I have a free yahoo account that I am using with my iPhone. I can successfully receive emails TO my iPhone but I have sent out numerous "Test" emails to several different accounts at hotmail none of which have received them after two hours. I tried deleting the account in iPhone and setting it up again but still same problem. The emails also are not showing up in the "Sent" folder in iPhone. Same with the online yahoo account. The messages are sending fully. Same problem with and without wifi.
    Can anyone help me?
    -Joe

No trace of the emails are found in any folders: Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Trash, and Bulk.

  • Receiving email on iphone 5

    Hi,
Until yesterday my iphone simply received email - limited to 500 messages and the oldest ones simply fell off the bottom as new ones appeared. I haven't changed any settings, but now I can't receive a thing until I create space by deleting emails first. This is very frustrating - anyone know the solution?
    Thank you
    spwb

Go to Settings>General>Usage. How much free space is available on your phone? If there is very little, you may need to delete pictures, videos or apps to avoid problems such as this.
    Best of luck.

  • Receiving email on iphone

I can receive email either on my desktop or the iPhone but not both. Whichever looks for mail first get the mail. I have "leave on server" checked within Outlook.

If the account is a POP account, this is a POP account limitation. Although it is possible to access a POP account with an email client on multiple computers or devices, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. When accessing a POP account with more than one email client, only one email client at a time can access the incoming mail server checking the account for new messages and/or while downloading new messages. If a 2nd email client attempts to do this while another email client is doing the same, the 2nd email client will be temporarily locked out by the incoming mail server. This should not prevent the 2nd email client from downloading the same new messages received at the incoming mail server that were downloaded by another email client if not removed from the server after being downloaded by another email client, but two email clients cannot be connected to the incoming mail server with a POP account at the same time. This is not a problem with an IMAP account which is specifically designed for being accessed with an email client on multiple computers and/or devices.

  • Why can't I send or receive email on iPhone?

Why ant I send or receive email?

Well, I'm not real sure. You would need to provide more details about what happens when you try? How did you set up the email, who is the provider, what errors you get when you try to get or send mail?

  • Not receiving email on Iphone 4S

my phone just started not sending or receiving email.  It says my mail server is not responding.  I've verified name and address on my phone.  All is well.

I finally figured it out.  I had to go to my email's host page and make sure that the emails were not being saved on the server.  When I unchecked that box, it worked fine.

Yahoo email is notoriously bad, seems everyday someone is having an issue with Yahoo.
Since you done most of the troubleshooting, you can see if you can contact Yahoo and ask them what the issue is.
Or try the yahoo email app.

  • IPhone displaying incorrect email receive date

Forgive me if I have posted in the wrong community, however this is my first post. My iphone 4 (iOS 6.0.1) has recently (over the past three days) started sporadically assigning a xx/xx/00 date to emails rather than xx/xx/12. When I open the email the date is the current date, but the receive date is not. Not all emails display the wrong receive date. My husband's iphone 4 has also started doing the same thing today; I'm not sure if it is specific to 4s or if other iphone models are also experieincing this problem. I also don't know what is causing this, and therefore how to fix it, but I would appreciate any advice or solutions from others who may have had this problem.

    Hi,
My provider is telstra but I also have a private domain. I have 4 email accounts going to my iphone, three of which belong to telstra and one to my private domain. I have no issues with my private domain only one of my bigpond email accounts. The problem is also occurring on my imac. I'm yet to check my ipad. The date on each of my devices is correct. I changed the date and time on my iphone to manual but it made no difference. My imac still has the date and time set at automatic. I'm guessing from your line of questioning that this is more likely a provider issue rather than a osx or ios issue - am I correct?

  • TS2621 I have a Mac desktop for home and recently bought new iPhone 4s. I was receiving email on both, but all of a sudden am only receiving email on iPhone and not on iMac at home. How do I remedy this?

I have an iMac desktop for home and recently bought an iPhone 4s. I was receiving my email on both, but now it only goes to my phone. How do I remedy this?

My problem is the opposite. My desktop apparently removes the mail from the mail servers before my iPad can read it.
One of my email accounts is a POP account. mail has a setting to leave the mail on the server, but I can't see that it makes any difference. The mail going to that account still doesn't make it to my iPad. I also have an IMAP account, but I don't see a similar setting.
I would like to be able to use my desktop as my main email platform, but I also want to see the latest using my iPad when I am traveling.
