Accellerated SAP literature?

Hello,
I need tips for literature to read about the Accelerated SAP roadmap.
Are there any reccomended books or articles i could read to understand more about v.7.1 and previous versions of ASAP?
I am also interested in ASAP in a brief historical context.

Hallo,
For your historical context there are a lot of books to consider. From my point of view you can take a look at the following
AcceleratedSAP (ASAP): Implementation at the Speed of Business [Paperback] Stewart Miller (Author) Publisher: McGraw-Hill Inc.,US; Pap/Cdr edition (1 Jun 1998)
Sap Bluebook: A Concise Business Guide to the World of Sap by Michael Doane  (Paperback - Apr 1998)
You should also go through [the link|/docs/DOC-8032#section2 [original link is broken]] to get official documents.

  • Using SUDO for SAP Administration

    Hi,
We have the need for security reasons to implement the program SUDO for system administration of SAP and DB.
Now, not knowing SUDO my questions are:
Since SUDO login with a signature by name (ex. smith) I can make all administrative tasks that today, for SAP literature, must be conducted with SIDADM and ORASID directly on the systems?
Also, if you can, there are restrictions / limits for the administration and SAP DB?
    Regards,
    Diego.

Sudo is simply a command that let you execute commands as another user.
As per my experience using it, it will just mean that you'll have to logon with your user and then do sudo to sidadm or orasid, that should not stop you from doing your daily tasks.
must be conducted with SIDADM and ORASID directly on the systems?
    Certainly.
there are restrictions / limits for the administration and SAP DB?
    I didn't get this question.
    Regards
    Juan

  • Difference between SAP R/3 , mySap and ASAP

    Hi all
Please tell what is clear Difference between SAP R/3 , mySap and ASAP
    Thanks in advance

    hi Naresh,
    SAP R/3--
SAP R/3 is SAP's integrated software solution for client/server and distributed open systems. SAP's R/3 is the world's most-used standard business software for client/server computing.
R/3 stands for Real Time and 3-tier architecture.
    mySAP --
In SAP's words "mySAP.com is an open collaborative business environment of personalized solutions on demand"
In our words, mySAP.com is actually a collection of three things.
    a) The Marketplace is a website where buyers and sellers can register themselves, and then buy and sell from each other.
    b) The Workplace is a piece of software which sits on your desktop, and allows you (after ity is setup correctly) to gain access to all of the systems you use in your company. It is, naturally, tightly integrated with both SAP and the Marketplace.
    c) mySAP.com is also the umbrella name for all of SAP's internet-enabled applications.
    ASAP--
ASAP (AcceleratedSAP) is a step-by-step methodology for speeding up the implementation of an SAP R/3 system. The components of ASAP, which can be used together or individually, are called accelerators. Accelerators are based on the best practices of SAP customers from around the world and consist of a number of templates, questions, and scenarios that require user input to help the user determine the best way to implement their R/3 system. According to SAP literature, ASAP can reduce the time required to implement an R/3 system by as much as 50%.

  • SEM-BCS how to make Consolidation Unit with Business Area

    Hi all,
I am newbie in SEM-BCS and implementing BW-based BCS. Our situation is as follows.
    Situation
    - we have 7 companies worldwide and 4 different Business areas.
Every company consists of at least two business areas in R/3.
    - we have sales transaction in FI among companies.
    requirement
    - we need consolidated F/S in whole consolidation group and consolidated F/S in Business area level.
actually, we are planning to make the consolidation unit in company level.
Do we have to break down consolidation unit in business area? or just breakdown category solves our requirement?
If we have sales transaction even between business areas within certain company, do we have to make it in business area?

Following are the answer to your questions…
Q:   What to do for using this cube in BCS?
A:    Add the business area to the cube. Generate the data basis and the business area gets added to all ODS/DSO , virtual cube.
Suggestion: To avoid deleting the Profit center cube, since you can reduce the complication.
Q:   Is it the problem about DATA BASIS Role?
A:   No. Assign the role of subassignment or consolidation unit as needed. If you are giving the role of consolidation unit to business area, you need to insert the char Partner business area also in the cube.
Q:   Is there some materials to solve this situation?
A:   Refer the matrix consolidation material in help.sap.com from BCS portion.  As per SAP literature any relevant object can be made as second consolidation unit such as business area, functional area etc. Don’t fear. Once you start it the issue will be resolved in few days.
    Expected complication:
If you are going to make business area as subassignment then it is simple. But if you are making business area as Consolidation unit, go for partner business area in cube.
Ensure with your BI consultant that all BCS messages are addressed in BI infoobject for business area specifically.
Things can get complicated only if we allow for it get complicated. But you are doing great.. Keep  posted.. Good luck.!!!..

  • Product and Region wise Balance Sheet

    Dear Experts,
I am working in a project right now and the company requirement is to get the Balance sheet as follows
    1. Balance sheet for the Company code
    2. Balance sheet Region Wise
    3. Balance Sheet Product wise
Point 1 and 2 can be mapped easily in the system by assigning regions as Business Areas. But please help in to determine Balance sheet Product wise
    Regards
    Lakhbir Singh

    Hi,
I believe both US GAAP and IFRS have this requirement.
SAP NewGL Segment Reporting is designed to fulfill this requirement. You do not need business area. what you need is a two-dimention segment with one dimention representing region and the other product line.
Here is the definition of Segment (you can get SAP literature regarding NewGL and segment reporting on SAP Library):

However, none of them gives step by step details.
Can anybody give any very detailed mapping procedures?
    Thanks a lot!

  • Product Allocation against STO

    Hi,
This is regarding allocation check against stock transport order
    1. As per SAP literature, Receiving plant (WERKS_TO) is available as a characteristic for stock transport orders:
But in the product allocation field catelog, the above field is not present. So how to carry out the allocation check at this level?
    2. What is the key figure to update incoming orders quantity. By default AEMENGE is available. Is the same key figure applicable for STO. If not, what is the key figure to update the incoming order quantity for STO. Where can it be added ?
    Regards,
    RS
    Edited by: sap_apo31 on Jan 4, 2012 11:18 AM

    Hi RS
    1) Receiving Plant can be maintained as a customer with suitable Sales Area. Since customer is available as a characteristic in field catalogue, you can use the same. Alternately, you need to extend the structure (As Michael has advised). This is quite common requirement and your development colleagues will be able to help you.
    2) Key figure will remain AMENGE irrespective of whether it is Sales Order or STO.
    Thanks,
    Prasun

  • Looking for Master Data Management in non-Netweaver environmets

    Hello
Based on SAP literature I have read on Master data Management (MDM) ,it is a component of Netweaver product family.
Currently we are running SAP R/3 Enterprise edition(4.7C)  and wish to have some form of MDM  to maintain a consistent view of master data across different landscapes. Theses landscapes span different geographic and administrative areas.
Is there any product either  from SAP or third-party vendors which can offer a solution for MDM in environments such as ours that have not yet switched to Netweaver.
    Kind Regards
    Mohammad

    Hi,
SAP definately offers SAP-MDM soultion. Yet its part of netweaver family but you can buy and install in seperately if you wish not to switch to Netweaver.
Its a myth that SAP-MDM is only for SAP products.
There are multiple input options available and hence it can work for you.
Please suggest if need more info.
Also you can post more questions into SAP-MDM forum.
    Hope this helps,

  • Strategy 59 issue

    Dear sap Gurus,
as per standard sap literature, Sale Order of FG should consume PIR of phantom assembly for Strategy 59.
    But it is not happening;
I have maintained following settings; Please correct if wrong
    for FG:
    Stategy Group = 10; consumption Mode=2; period indicator=10;individual/coll indicator =2;Mixed Mrp =1;
    For Phantom Assembly:
    Stategy Group = 59; BackFlush=1;consumption Mode=2; period indicator=10;individual/coll indicator =2;Mixed Mrp =1;

    Hi,
Pls look into the sentence :
as per standard sap literature, Sale Order of FG should consume PIR of phantom assembly for Strategy 59.
Implies that , If you maintained the Strategy 59 for the Fianl product only, system consume PIR of phantom assembly
    1. Change the Planning strategy 59 for the final product.
    2. no need to maintain the strategy for the Phantom assbly since if you maitain the field Individual/coll. as 2 in the mrp4 material master.
    Thanks

  • Precalculation service - backward compatible?

Is the precalculation service backward compatible? E.g. Can I use precalc 7.10 latest patch with BW 3.5 or BW 7.0 system?
I would appreciate it if you could point to SAP literature that confirms / denies this.

This is the latest status for precalculation services as of today.
From a Windows server perspective, Precalculation 7.10 patch 801 works on Windows 2003 32 bit OS only. It is also supported on XP etc.
If you are on BW 3.5 , you must use precalculation 6.40
If you are on BW 7.0, you must use precalculation 7.10 patch 801 ( or higher if available ).
System Version     Object version used on the systems (ex. Queries, workbooks...)      Precal Version
    SAPKW350##     3.5     Precalc Server 350
SAPKW700##     3.5     Precalc Server 7.10 patch 801      * in that case, you should install the KW addon 3.x for SAPGUI 7.10
    SAPKW700##     7.0     Precalc Server 7.10 patch 801

    We have installed SAP B1 2007 PL05 on 64 bit windows with 64 bit SQL2005 SP2.
We have an interface to a Warehouse management system (Radio Beacon) and a custom interface to a legacy system.  The interfaces don't work.  We can not connect to the DIAPI and get the following:

    <b>Action taken so far:</b>
    Reinstalled DI API PL05
    Reinstalled SAP SDK
Used regsvr32 to manually install SAPbobsComm2007.dll - Windows reported Installed Successfully
Checked entries for {632F4591-AA62-4219-22BCF5F62007}exist in registry.
Both interfaces work fine on our 32 bit test server.
Has anyone got interfaces working on SAP B1 2007 on 64 bit H/w S/w?

  • Is SPM Reporting Flex included in the SAP Roadmap

    Hi Rajesh, Rohit,
A quick question here regarding the SPM Flex reporting tool and whether this has been included in SAP's Roadmap strategy for the future.  I can't see any mention of it in any presentations or literature.  Concerns over whether it will become obsolete, etc.  Can't see it as the integration to other advanced features such as Spend Advisor and E-Sourcing is vital.
    Any advice welcome.
    Best regards,
    Pom

    Hi Pom,
Customer and partners have asked this question a few times before and a very valid one.  Nothing is a grantee, and I am no fortune teller.  As and when new technologies emerge SAP will evaluate them to weigh their benefits against existing choices.  Having said all of that, this architecture of delivering the flex UI for end users and using NW BW as the data warehouse is gaining popularity.  So Adobe Flex based UI is here to stay at least for the near future.
Starting mid this year you will see other applications in EPM (Enterprise Performance Management Suite) use this architecture and technology.  Some of them are already on this band wagon.  In fact SPM UI is being separated and this UI will be used by the other application.  Meaning all applications will have the same look and feel.
    Hope this helps
    Rohit

  • SAP NetWeaver: SAP's Model-Driven Business Process Application?

    Hi All:
I am a graduate student currently doing a research on 'Model-Driven Business Process Application'. I came across some literature about SAP NetWeaver during my research. SAP NetWeaver has generated a lot of interest in me and I would like to know more detailed information about it:
How is SAP adopting BPM principles to manage Work-flows? Can we consider any of the current NetWeaver applications as model-driven?
It would be great to know the answers to some of these questions. I would sincerely appreciate if anyone of you could please help me with this. Also, thank you very much for your time and efforts. I would be happy to assign reward points to any informative responses.
