I can't read French accented characters on many web pages I use. Please help me solve this problem.

I am trying to insert the screenshot, but it doesn't work.

How to take parts of a web page and feed into a PDF template to create a PDF

Interesting quesiton that I think was what LiveCycle was for: How can someone take parts of a web page or xml document (say by id name or a specialized tag) and feed the chosen items into different regions inside a PDF template?
Basically, can you identify areas on a page and then tie them to place holders in a pdf template (with high res graphics say) and create a PDF?
Please note: this is not about converting a whole webpage to a pdf, but select portions of it.
Anyone have experiences in doing this? So far, it appears to require a toolset like LiveCycle or Adlib to utilize only selected items and not the whole page.

The lack of answers is likely due to folks having no clue. What you have asked is not really the purpose of either Acrobat or LiveCycle, but that is not to say it can not be done. A starting point is to bring a WEB page into Acrobat as a PDF. This can be done by printing from the browser to the Adobe PDF printer, using PDF Maker with IE or FIrefox, or simply creating directly in Acrobat. Those are the normal ways to get things from a web page to a PDF.
That said, it is not what you asked. You are asking about being able to parse parts of the web page. That is a lot more work and may not be directly possible, though with JavaScript it might be possible. I suspect that if it is possible you would require a lot of extra programming to allow the material selection. It may be the folks in the SDK sub-forum can help.
Being I have no clue how to implement what you have asked (and probably no one else either), I can only suggest some things to look at or other places to inquire. If you think the XML of LiveCycle would help, then you might try the LiveCycle forum.
In terms of your post, I really don't remember seeing the original, but that was right near the end of the semester and I was not checking the forum very much. There are various reasons folks may not reply, typically because they have no clue. Templates are also somewhat specialized and there are not many posts about them. My guess is that the template aspect may have had a lot of folks skip the post. In any case, I have tried to give you some thoughts.

Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

Your internet experience is dependent upon several different factors. I doubt a virus is the problem.
1) when you type in an address or click on a link your service provider's computer must turn the URL into an IP address - the computer that does this is called a Domain Name Server (DNS). Many ISPs have slow DNS servers. If it takes a long time for the page to start loading but then loads quickly that might be your problem. OpenDNS provides a free DNS server that is very fast.
2) the connection between your computer and router. I assume you are using WiFi - hold down the Option key and click on the WiFi menu item in the menubar. The RSSI indicates signal strength / quality and the farther away the value is from 0 the lower the quality. something between -60 to 60 is a good signal. If it is in the 80s or higher (or -80 or lower) you might try changing the channel and/or moving the base station.
3) your internet connection. Go here to see how fast your connection is. Your connect speed will be dependant upon your WiFi connection, your ISPs internet service, and how fast the connection is between your city and the testing city. If you suspect your WiFi service is all or part of the problem you'll want to fix that before running the test - or connecting with an ethernet cable would bypass the WiFi problem. Of course you'll need a dongle (or a different computer) to test that way.
My ISP is TimeWarner and at least for a while TW was notorius for having slow Domain Name Servers. I switched to OpenDNS and haven't looked back.

Accented characters again, this time in WEB module

today I made an amazing discovery: even if the language and user interface of LR (2.0) is set to German, there is no provision to deal with accented characters (üöä) in the web galleries. These are taken directly into the generated html files.
Some web servers can deal with that, some can not and need \&\a\u\m\l\; (w/o backslashes) instead of ä. LR does not do the conversion. One could say that now that I know I should just enter directly the html code. Well, the problem with that is that I might have keywords or a caption with accented characters that I want to display in the web gallery. Also, the (next|previous) marks for switching pages are (Weiter|Zurück) in German and there I have the problem. I don't even know, where the HTML templates are hidden, maybe I could change Zurück to html code there.
What can I do about this? Can anyone help?

If the page's encoding is UTF-8 (check the encoding meta tag) there is
no need for special characters to be converted to html entities.
If they don't display correctly it's usually the server serving them as
ISO-something when it shouldn't. That would need to be sorted out with
the hosting company.

Sometimes when I roll the cursor across a bookmark, my browser jumps to that web page without me clicking on it. Is there any way to turn this function off?

On occasion I will roll my cursor across a bookmark and my browser will take me to that web page without me clicking on it. I've been unable to detect a pattern; it seems to happen randomly. this should not be happening, maybe one of your addons is interfering?! - can you try running firefox in safemode or with all extensions disabled for a while and see if this behaviour is still there...

Is there any way to get a hyperlink in TextEdit to open a web page?

The question above says it all, really.
I want to be able to copy a URL into a TextEdit document so that when I click on it, it launches Safari and takes me to the web page the URL refers to.
Curiously, when I first copy a URL into TextEdit it does 'go blue', as if it has recognised it as a hyperlink), and looks like it should work as a link, but when I close the file, and then reopen it, the URL has gone to plain black and it certainly doesn't take me to a web page when I click on it.

Yes, that does work, but of course it means selecting the whole thing rather than just clicking it the once. I was hoping that there would be a better solution.
I'll have a bash at un-ticking 'Smart Links' and then ticking it again and see if that works. -No, it didn't.
The odd thing is that as soon as I paste a URL into a document it goes blue and works, even when that document is in plain text. But if I save it, quit it and then re-open it, it is black again and it doesn't work. Weird...

Web pages loading EXTREMELY slow

It takes FOREVER for any web page to load (we're talking like several minutes even to load Google search), but it shows I have full signal strength. However, my husband's MacBook is functioning fine as well as his PC which all use the same network. I have an AirPort and AirPort extreme. I've even tried directly connecting to the AirPort extreme to see if that would help the speed problem, and it did--but only for a few minutes. After that, it displayed the same problems as before--MIND-BENDINGLY SLOW page load. I've cleared the cache, history, renew DHCP, reset the router... everything I can think of and still to no avail.
This all started happening after I was using my MacBook to connect my XBox360 to the internet and had to change some of the MacBook settings. I have since restored all the settings and turned off Internet Sharing.
I took it to the Genius Bar, twice, and they said it has to be my network, because it connects and loads pages at lightning speeds when I'm on the Apple Store network. Ugh. This is sooo frustrating and has basically rendered my mac useless.
Ideas?

Here are a couple things you can try:
1) If possible, bypass your router, and connect directly to your cable/dsl modem.
2) Try a different DNS (domain name server). This can resolve the problem if the slowness stems from looking up (i.e. "contacting") the web server. You are probably currently using the DNS of your ISP. Since your husband is not experiencing the problem, this might be a stretch, but still worth a shot. You can try OpenDNS (https://www.opendns.com/start/)

Why do web pages open slowly?

Why does it often take so long for web pages to open? The progress/address bar goes part way, then stops, and can take several minutes to finish loading the page. Thoughts?

Unfortunately no. The only thing I can think of is that I have an older MacBook Pro (maybe 6 or so), but I have the most updated OS system. And maybe my older MacBook Pro just doesn't have the processing speed to handle the new platform. Otther than that... I'm out of guesses.

Remove details for web page object types in search results

Within the search results, the first 200 characters are displayed for documents, web pages, etc.. Web pages show the HTML code. Is there a way to hide these details for web pages but have them visible for all other object types?

You need to log out and log in again for it to work.

Very slow to open web pages

Why does it take ages to open web pages? It can take up to 10 seconds and sometimes it takes so long that it times-out and asks me to reload. Reloading does not make it any quicker. It is not just one web page, it happens on most pages that I try to open. Once the page is open the screen updates very quickly (as you would expect). I am using BT Infinity-1 and the new Hub 5. It is slow using both IE-11 and Google Chrome. I have run all the various virus checks and PC 'clean-up' utilities.
I'm not sure if it's a problem with my PC or a network or a configuration problem.
Any ideas welcome.

For some reason I cannot capture screenshots. It won't let me cut/paste to the clipboard. Maybe I need a utility to take a screenshot or maybe those BT pages are protected?
However I ran the speedtester and adslchecker and the results are within stated limits.
I then downloaded and ran the BT Help package. On the PC Health check it reported some problems with cache so I elected to fix those. I was using Google Chrome at the time but it seemed to switch me to IE during the troubleshooting.
I have now rebooted and it seems much better. Perhaps it was simply a cache problem. If that is the case I don't know how the cache problem occured or why my various utiliites like Ccleaner and System Mechanic didn't report those problems.
I'll use my PC for a few days and see if the webpage opening delays have been fixed, or I'll report back here.

Web Pages will not pull up since upgrading to safari 5 and Leapord 10.5.8

Is anyone else having this issue. I have a netgear router and have a gateway laptop that works just fine. When using my approx 1 year old macbook it shows that it is connected to my wireless network however it takes forever to load web pages. This was working perfectly until a couple days ago. If I plug the macbook directly to my modem it works fine. I tried an open network at a local coffee shop and it seemed to work fine as well. I reset/reconfigured my router and rebooted the modem and still no luck. I've cleared the cache and reset Safari, tried open DNS etc. I've searched these forums and have tried several other things but nothing seems to work. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Accent Characters

I am having a hard time getting accent characters to work in a web app that is running on solaris 10 (T1000s and M2200s). When I run the same app on an OS X server, accent characters from web forms display correctly. Are forms are using ISO-8859-1 and the solaris server reports that the character set it is using is ISO-8859-1. Accent characters (such as �) still get displayed as "?" however.
Anybody know the trick to get solaris to work with accent chars? Our locale settings are:

Thank you for your reply.
We currently use the supplied default Collation "1252LATIN1" and the Character Set "cp1252" for Language "us_english". This Character Set has all the characters we need.
Doesn't the supplied ASA Collation '1252LATIN1' meet the requirement you have mentioned.
Also isn't this Collation recommended for Western European Languages (like English, French, German, & Spanish) as it provides the most likely match to the Character Set 'cp1252'.
Is there a specific Collation you'd want me to try during database creation.
