Accept incoming video calls & switch to fullscreen by hotkey

Hi,
is it possible to accept an incoming video chat invitation with a hotkey or a script?
I use a MacMini as a media-pc (eyetv & plex) and now i want to integrate such a function to my harmony remote. I have found a script which calls a contact, but I could not find a script which accepts an incoming video conversation.
Is there also a script for switching to full-screen mode in a video-conversation?
Thanks a lot.

Hi,
I see that I missed the important bit about it being "accept triggered Remotely" rather than Auto Accept.
I know just enough AppleScript to create Away Messages on Accept and set Available on Chat end.
Accept
using terms from application "iChat"
on av chat started
set status to away
set status message to "In Conference . . ."
end av chat started
end using terms from
Chat Ended
using terms from application "iChat"
on av chat ended
set status to available
set status message to "I was Busy but Now I am Not"
end av chat ended
end using terms from
As to taking the response/input from a Remote device and linking that with an "Accept" instruction in iChat is a bit beyond me.
However there is a Forum here in Apple Discussions that deals with AppleScript Here

  • I wish to keep my incomming / outgoing calls  switched off, while 3g / E should be enabled,

I wish to keep my incomming / outgoing calls  switched off, while 3g / E should be enabled, I dont want to be disturbed with incomming calls while surfing, is there some way to do this in Iphone 4.?

No. The only thing you can do is reject the call when it comes in.

  • HT204380 How does a user of multiple Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac laptop) designate which devices will ring when an incoming Facetime call comes in.  If all three are online, should they all be able to accept an incoming video call?

A friend of mine has an iPhone with a cellular data plan, a Macbook Pro, and a mini-iPad.  She's been using Facetime, but says that all of the devices used to ring at the time of an incoming Facetime call.  Now only her iPhone rings.  How do you set whichever device you want to ring?

James: I agree. Please keep them shorter.
The answers to both questions are no.
The iPad is NOT a computer replacement. It is a mobile device.
The iPad can not stream tro the iPhone nor an iPod.
    Hope this helps....

  • Major Security Issue on Android - Incomming video call was automatically received

Hi all, today I encountered a major security bug. My phone was on the table, several meters away from me, facing up. When I walked past it, I saw that I have a video call which was accepted somehow automatically by skype on my mobile phone. It was my friend and he confirmed that he was able to hear and see everything for more than a minute. Is this a known bug? This is something major. Kind regards,GD

Some previous Android skype versions had a severe security bug, see this: http://community.skype.com/t5/Android/Automatical-calls/td-p/3806053 However, it should be gone if you have a somewhat new version; unless a new bug has surfaced.

  • IPhone 4 will not accept incoming voice calls

I have one Exchange push account running. When no 3G coverage I do not receive phone calls unless I turn off Cellular Data. Caller receive message saying "Not possible to connect call" O2 have tested and agree not working, SIM swapped. Apple Covent Garden tested and agree not working and swapped phone today but still same problem. Apple now blame Exchange configuration, hosted Exchange provider blames O2. Anyone had same problem?

Thats because the new phone is locked to a carrier other than yours.

  • Cant fully recieve video calls...when I accept, it...

    Hi,
for the last month I cannot fully receive incoming or even sometimes outcoming video calls. When somebody is calling me and I accept the video call, in 95% of the cases the skype keeps 'ringing', but nothing else really happens. I do not see the other person, neither hear any sound. Even though I 'pick up' the video call as usual, its just behaving as it is not answered. Sometimes the person who is calling me sees, that the video call already started (there are the seconds running), but nothing else happens.
I have to either wait for about 2min, before the skype ends the call itself, or I have to cancel Skype itself in Task manager. Sometimes even this doesnt work and I have to restart the computer.
I uninstalled Skype and downloaded the new version again. But the problem persists.
    I've got windows 7.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try to reset all Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
    Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

  • Video call shows busy immediately after received.

I am having incoming video call rejected even without one ring immediatly when received with Skype for desktop. This happens only when the other person is calling me with VIdeo call. When voice only - it rings properly until I will accept or reject.
I have reinstalled Skype, cleaned temp folders - nothing helped.
Weird that when I am quiting desktop version and have only my Andriod client running - Video call rings fine to me without drop.
    Skype - the latest 7.6
    Windows 8.1
    Anyone familiar with this issue?

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
Go to Windows Start  and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

  • Video call not working anymore

Hi, I have been utilizing Skype video calls for years but now when I make a video call to my husband (in Thailand) or he calls me (in the US) neither of us are notified of an incoming video call. I'll call him on the phone and say I'm starting a video call with him, but he doesn't see anything...and vice versa. We both have the latest version of Skype, and it shows we are both online so I don't know what happened. Please advise. Thanks

Thanks for your reply.  Yes, I had a windows update on 7/17.  I have another update I need to install now. Hopefully this may help get Skype working right again.

I thought about using the Unity Connection.
Could anyone give me some guidance?

    Hi there,
Do you have locations based CAC enabled that is limiting video between regions? Also any firewall between locations?

Could you tell me how to do it?
I tried but there is all accept or all reject.

    Hi,
This Log does not contain a reference to a Ping.
I would check your device is allowing response to Internet Pings
It is odd though that you ad your Buddy can chat to other people.
This may mean that you do not actually get to the Ping stage.
This seems likely as the attempts that are listed never get past the INVITE stage.
This would point to a Certain Buddy issue
    http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/page15.html#CertainBuddy
Essentially this is a NAT issue.
NAT (Network Address Translation) is what makes a router get the incoming data stream to your computer.
Unfortunately the way it is done is different on nearly every device.
It is more of a global term rather than a set protocol )See item 5 in that Link)
As the first links shows UPnP can help get around this as it seems to be less reliant on NAT to get through the routing device.
The rip (remote IP) seems to be trying random ports to get success.

  • How can you auto-accept Video Calls in Messages.app

In Ichat there used to be a way to select a user and under "alerts" (which is no longer a perference option in messages) choose to auto-accept video calls from that person.
Is there a way to set up Messages to auto acccept video calls? It was great for when I wanted to check in on my puppy.
    Thanks!

    HI,
In the normal setting of Messages this is no longer possible.
I would use here to ask for the feature back
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ichat.html
The page was never very good at keeping up to date with iChat version numbers so type your specs into the Free Text area.
It might be possible to copy the AppleScript that did this  and make a copy and remove the non Video bits  and use it from the Dock.

i watch a video in youtube innormal screen (small) ,but when i switch to full screen, it have to buffer it all over again. need help

This is because when you switch to fullscreen, youtube switches to higher resolution and discards the low-resolution buffer. It has nothing to do with Firefox. See this article for possible solutions: http://www.gtricks.com/youtube-tricks/full-screen-deletes-buffer-maximizing-problem/

  • How do i stream my iMac screen to a device that accepts component video only

I have a new iMac (2015) and I want to send my screen from my mac to a video switcher called a NewTek Tricaster 40. It only accepts component or composite video input. I want to send my iMac's screen to it in real time so I can incorporate it into my live video productions. I have attempted to use several HDMI to component converters and none have worked. I am using the Kanex Pro HDMI to Component Converter to convert the HDMI out from two HD camcorders to component and sending that into my Tricaster 40. It is seeing the signal just fine and giving me solid HD video. So I attempted to use the same Kanex Pro for the iMac. First I used apple's lightning to HDMI cable then plugged that HDMI into another Kanex Pro HDMI to component converter. No dice. I tried all the component video settings: 1080p 30PsF, 1080 24PsF, 1080i, 720p, 720/30p, 720/24p. None worked

Next I purchased an apple lightning to DVI adaptor. Then I plugged the DVI into this Lindy DVI to component converter. It also failed at all resolutions. None worked for SD resolutions either.

After hunting for a solution someone suggested that HDCP protection might be my problem. Apparently in an effort to keep people form pirating movies Microsoft and apple use HDCP to keep people form making this conversion? I'm nor sure how this works I just know that I am leagaly allowed to incorporate brief news clips into my news comentary on my youtub channel so long as I cite them and add to them substantially. I do both. So is HDCP my issue? If so what is the work around?

NewTek has a program called IVGA that will allow me to share my screen over my local network but the frame rate is horribly choppy and is not useful for capturing video clips form youtube or game play.
Bottom line how do I stream high quality (720 /24p minimum) video from my iMac to a device that only accepts component video in.

I did end up using an apple thunderbolt to DVI.

    On my iMac:
I had to go into my device settings > Display
then I set the "Optimize for:" to "CAT-6066"
after that I selected the "Scaled" option right underneath
then i selected 1080i because the Kanex Pro is designed to convert 1080i into component
I was then able to get my NewTek Tricaster 40 to recognize that component signal from the Kanex Pro and add it to my production as 1080i or as 1080p/30. The frame rate looks great and the video quality is very smooth and in real time.

  • IChat - incoming video chat not working

iChat - I can make an outgoing video call but incoming video invitations are not connecting.

    Hi,
Check your Firewall and or router.
The Firewall (If ON) works on the basis that you can call out but the incomming stuff gets Blocked if an App is NOT allowed.
The same can be true of the router.
If you don't specifically Open the Ports it can take the outgoing part to "open" them and accept incomiong data on the same port.
The Mac Firewall is in System Preferences > Security > Firewall
If ON you need the Options or Advanced button depending on OS version
In here you need to had "Allowed Signed Software and added iChat to the List.
In the router you may need to engage  UPnP if the device has it.
If not then you need to open:-
iChat 4 and 5 Ports for iChat
    Service
    TCP Ports
    UDP Ports
    iChat over AIM

    Jabber
    5220, 5222, 5223
    No ports
    A/V Ports
    No ports
    5678, 16393-16402
Note this is the iChat 4 and 5 Range Add port 5060 UDP for iChat 2 and 3 and extend the group of 10 to 16384-16403 (20 ports)  iChat 4 and 5 also uses an undeclared Random port to do the Screen Sharing part and works if you can and do use UPnP (Or Port Mapping Protocol) to open ports in your routing device.
