Acceptable ranges for router stats

There are many queries posted here about line speed which result in repliers asking the questioner to post their router stats.
Two of the main figures that always seem to be mentioned are the Line Attenuation and Noise Margin.
Is there anywhere that gives an acceptable range for these figures and a simple explanation of what affects them?
Same for any other useful stat figures e.g. values given by BT speedtester.
Cheers
John

  • Acceptable range of speeds for this line.

    Dear Forum,
I have for many months now been on the phone to Bt with regards to the fact that when I run the speedtester the results for the acceptable range of speeds for this line dose not match up to BT's own table within their broadband speed wizard.  Below please find the latest speedtester result and the table taken from said area.
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
     Download  Speed
     1825 Kbps
    0 Kbps 2000 Kbps
    Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1825 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps.
     Additional Information:
     Your DSL Connection Rate :2528 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps
Write down your test results and use the table below to check that your throughput speed is in the right range for your connection speed.
Connection rate downstream test result:     Throughput speed you should expect:
    288Kbps                                                             50Kbps to 250Kbps
    288Kbps to 576Kbps                                            50Kbps to 500Kbps
    576Kbps to 1152Kbps                                         200Kbps to 1000Kbps
    1152Kbps to 2272Kbps                                       400Kbps to 2000Kbps
    2272Kbps to 8128Kbps                                       600Kbps to 7150Kbps
I keep getting told that they can't change the acceptable range of speeds for this line to read 600Kbps to 7150Kbps as this was originally set when I first took broadband from BT, but surely they can rerun the test's that set up this configuration so that the acceptable range of speeds for this line reads as above.
I used to, prior to a length of main cable being replaced back in May of this year, between the exchange and the street box, get a DSL of between 2648Kbps and 3020Kbps.  When the cable was replaced, they replaced 9Guage with 5Guage.  Also it has been found out by two engineer's that about 325Mtrs from my property that there is a sudden drop of 1000Kbps.  Both BT and Openreach seem to think that this is acceptable.  I don't and niether do my neiboughers, who are also affected.
Please get back to me with a reasonable answer to this.  Not like when I dealt with Mods in the past and they would only answer one part of the problem.
     Thanks in advance.

The bit loading is not great on that liine ....
And it's little to do with the metallic path specification you referred to in another post.
One thing is certain, Openreach operate to strict codes of practice, and don't just install any old wire ....
The noise margin is not bad, target is 6db ... but the problem there is that you have a high forward error count
which demonstrates a profound level of interleave, which does cause some latency.
It's the bitloading that's causing the high error count.
Sometimes a RF3 filter, fitted by Openreach can cure some of this ... sometimes not.
But the CRC, cyclic redundancy checks, are re-transmitted packets, and therefore do absorb bandwidth.
Also the errored second count is high, these are seconds which have seen bad error rates.
I don't think you'd benefit by going into the test socket either, as most errors are downstream and margin is
fair, the CRC up errors are false, a result of poor scripting in the hub firmware.
You could try buying quality line filters, or using a v1 splitter socket face, but to be honest, your line is your line,
and that's why the broadband is line adaptive ... to cater for all quality levels of lines.
Yours is not the best I've seen.
You could try a reset at midday, often gaining a higher sync rate, as much as 400-500kbps.
No more than 3 resets in 24 hours, DLM will downgrade the IP.
Glad to have helped you ... perhaps not what you wanted to hear though.

  • Range of acceptable temperatures for MBP in Fº or Cº

    Hello everyone,
I swear that my MBP fans don't turn on soon enough (as do a lot of other people, I've read). Is there a documented range of acceptable temperatures available on apple.com or any other trustworthy source? I've read what people 'think' is okay and what they 'assume' is normal operating temperature but I'm looking for something a little more finite.
I could just be crazy. Maybe I should just relax? Mostly, I like numbers and would feel much better if I could look at 160ºF and know that everything is going to be okay.
    Eric

from what ive seen in my MBP looking at istat pro with the main temp i see and remember being the CPU A (top temp listing and normally thats the hottest one) will range from about 118-166 * F. when it gets around 160 normally i am running a lot of processes or ones that hog the processors. also when i get the occasional runaway process it will jump up that high.
i use one of the air boards/cooling stands (the "Notepal" by Cooler Master) that has fans in it and that seems to keep it lower
personally when it starts to get really hot i try to let it sit and slow down a little, if im not running much and i see it get up that high i start to try and see if i have any runaway processes
ive never seen a real range for it but those are the ranges my machine hits, as long as its not staying that hot i wouldnt be worried. i hope this helps you some what
ugadawg94 for that fan control plug in, what did you set your controls to?

  • Route statements in ASA

If your inside interface has an IP address of  x.110.215.17 and you have the following route statement.
    route inside x.110.208.0 255.255.255.0 x.110.215.17
    route inside x.110.209.0 255.255.255.0 x.110.215.17
    route inside x.110.210.0 255.255.255.0 x.110.215.17
I'm assuming this means that anything coming into the ASA for the networks listed, will be routed to the
    inside interface via x.110.215.17?
Note that the inside interface and the next hop on the route statements are the same.

I should have been more technically correct in my last update.  The ARP request has nothing to do with the 10.10.10.0/24 IP range but rather, the layer 2 VLAN associated with the inside interface behind the device.  By adding the route statement pointing to the inside interface, the ASA will broadcast an ARP request to all the hosts within the VLAN.
    So,
    Ethernet0/1              inside                 10.10.10.1      255.255.255.0   manual
    route inside 10.10.20.0 255.255.255.0 10.10.10.1
-A request is made for 10.10.20.20, the ASA will generate something similar to the following:
arp-req: generating request for 10.10.20.20 at interface inside
    arp-send: arp request built from 10.10.10.1 0015.46e7.8d55 for 10.10.20.20 at 53392994170

  • Recent bRAS Profile Change - Router Stats

    Hai!
Recently, my IP profile has been dropping consistently. I was on 3000 bRAS profile not too long ago (I think I had 5000+ sync in the test socket once).
Since this Edinburgh outage, my profile has been dropping every few days with no disconnections. I decided to put the hub in my test socket last night and let the hub settle overnight before I posted the results here. My sync has gone up, but I don't understand the noise margin etc... Can any techie types give me any clues as to what may be wrong with my connection? Are these current stats OK in the test socket, which would point towards my internal wiring being at fault? Are these current stats showing a problem with my connection in the test socket, which would point towards an external fault?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Thank goodness for your reply.
The main reason for the post was to put a little point across.
Questions can be asked, other members whom give their time for free can reply, ratings can be awarded for that reply if it is useful or more to the point answers the question the original poster can say thanks!
Now if I'd have posted that Q in December of last year then yes I wouldn't of had a clue. It's only through ye olde BT Beta Forums that my knowledge on certain subjects has grown to the level it is today. I've also learnt a stack of stuff from these 'thriving' forums (mainly unsolicited attempts!!!!!) and I've done my best to award a rating and to thank the poster for the reply. (If I've not then soz!).
    Now to answer your Q:
I, by no means call myself an [Aspiring] Expert, many other members know a lot more than me. Some have made the odd post and IMHO deserve to be moved up the rankings and others have made many (they too deserve recognition). I'd sooner those with greater knowledge try and resolve other members issues. Finally Roger did get me thinking if I'd missed something and I thank him for replying. As the BTHH is pretty well locked down I replied referring to BT as that's all that one could do if all checks are carried out in the home by the user. The bit about me being confused with another customer is true (BT staff believe it or believe it not, are like us - only human and mistakes do happen) and it was in the hope that BT would double check that my hub is set back to auto. Many gamers ask for fast. I don't use my 360 online so I'm not overly fussed (yet).
Expertise wise: I've been known to open the odd hub or 2 and report on my findings (old forum - now history). Internal images are available on request. Wireless via the HH - I've learnt a lot from General Disquiet and again while I'm at it I'll thank him too. Privacy and tracking - thanks Dorset Vinney where ever you are now. Info on the BTHH's and interference on the phone - thanks Jarviser. You might see a pattern here with user ID's.
I'd also like to thank everyone else (too many to name) for helping me out along the way. You know who you are.
I'm yet to tinker with the Vbox but looking on the WWW it looks like it probably isn't worth the hassle.
    Hope this answers your question

    Try this:
Reboot ipad by pressing and holding both the home and sleep/wake buttons at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go. Then try to connect to network.
Go to settings, Toggle airplane mode on/off. Make sure bluetooth is off. Turn on wif (airplane mode off). Try to connect.
    Reset Network Settings
Go to settings/general/reset/reset network settings. Then try to connect to network.
If its your home router, then reboot router by unplugging for 5-10min. (do this while you're resetting network settings).
If problem persists, then check for firmware updates on your router.(you check router manufacturer support website for downloads and instructions).

  • Same Number Range for OTHR and DLFC

    Hi All,
I want to know whether we can mantain different number range for OTHR and DLFC transaction Type for same Series Group.
i.e for Returns Vendor Delivery Excise Invoice(MM side-OTHR) and Outgoing Excise Invoice(Sales Side-DLFC).
    Pls guide me..
    With Regards
    Azeez.Mohd

even when you sell SFG / Trading goods -( HAWA / HALB) , then also you have to update RG1, though they are not FG materials.
Material type in terms of excise, but not in terms of SAP.
    eg:
When customer returns the goods, you can process it in 2 ways-
either by creatign Excise JV - J1IH
or by following MM route, nothing but by creating Incoming excise Invoice wrt:inbound delivery-LR in Tcode:J1IEX-
where in excise tab, material type will be defaulted as "F-RG1", but it has to be changed to "Raw Material".
similarly, Vendor returns also treat as the same,
for your info, adjustment of excise duty for vendor returns will be routed through excise JV in J1IS & mov type:122 -ret to vendor is activated for RG1.

  • Request for Routing

What is Request for Routing used for in SAP? How do you use this transaction?

    Hi John,
    Welcome to the forum.
Your service provider (i.e. whoever you pay your line rental to) can move the master socket within your house but won't be able to move the cable that comes into the house.
To do that, you need to contact Openreach directly via this web form (just say that you want to relocate the external wire from the underground duct coming into your house) and they'll be able to discuss any costs directly with them.
After that's done, you can then contact your service provider to get the socket moved to the cellar. At the moment, if you're with BT the cost of moving a socket is £130.00.
    Thanks,
    Stephanie

In setDomainEnv.sh set debugFlag=false or you can just remove it.
NodeManager is a charm after that. it can take any number of ports.
    Cheers !!

  • How  to add ranges for field BUKRS in Tcode GP52  is single value fied

    Hi Experts,
In Tcode GP52 we can only give single value for company code in source data .. but i want to make it to accept ranges..
i have checked it but it is not a report program it is a module pool object..
i tried by creating a z program with selection screen and thaought of alling that program  using my selection parameters but i failed ....can anyone help me in this
    Thanks,
    Vamsee

instead of enhansing the screen i have created BDC.
    clossing this

  • Block Customer for Account Statement : Urgent pls

Can anyone suggest if there is any option to block a customer from being sent Account Statement.
We currently have a Z program, where we give a range of customers in the selection screen and it will print statements for all the customer.
But if we dont want to send statement to a particular customer, how can we do that..
Is there any similar option like Dunning block, to block a customer from being sent a statement.
    Please let me know

In the customer master data, company code tab. In the Account statement field you can select the Indicator for periodic account statements 1 or 2. You can also add one for no statement. When you run F.27 it will process statements based on the Indicator for periodic account statements.
pls assign points to say thanks.

  • Runtime error for SELECT statement

    Hi All,
I have written a SELECT statement as follows in my code.
select budat pernr aufnr vornr from AFRU
into corresponding fields of table it_vornr
    for all entries in it_cats_tmp
    where budat = it_cats_tmp-workdate
    and pernr = it_cats_tmp-pernr
    and aufnr = it_cats_tmp-rnplnr.
The table IT-CATS_TMP is having around 3000+ lines.
When control moves to this statement, the system is throwing Runtime error or its taking around 30 minutes time to execute.
If i query the same table (AFRU) in SE11 for the same set of conditions, the table displays relevent data immediately.
What might be the reason for this delay/Runtime Error?
Shall i need to change the syntax for better performance?
    Your guidelines are highly appreciated......
    Regards
    Pavan

    Hi
    1. Try to put WHERE conditions for KEY FIELDS.
Solution: Create a RANGE for the key fields & put that in SELECT Query.
DATA: gr_rueck TYPE RANGES OF afru-rueck.
SELECT .. WHERE rueck IN gr_rueck.
    2. Avoid using CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE in SELECT.
Solution: Change internal table fields ORDER.
    TYPES:
    BEGIN OF TY_VORNR,
      budat TYPE ..
      pernr TYPE ..
      aufnr TYPE ..
      vornr TYPE ..
      ... " Other fields
    END OF TY_VORNR.
    SELECT .. INTO TABLE IT_VORNR ...

  • Finding duplicate ranges for rows in a table

    Data in the table
    ROW NUM ID A_FROM A_TO B_FROM B_TO
    1 1 1 10 1 10
    2 1 1 20 2 20
    3 1 3 30 2 20
    4 2 10 20 10 20
    5 2 10 30 20 30
    6 3 10 20 10 20
I want to identify rows based on "ID" columns which has overlaping range of data for column A and column B.
    example
In above data based on ID 1 the row # 2 should be flagged due to the fact that col A_FROM and A_TO in row1 overlaps with row #1.
Also, row #3 should be flagged due to the fact that col B_FROM and B_TO in row2 overlapps with row #2.
    Any help is appreciated.

    TABLE - "rate_table"
    ID     A_FROM     A_TO     B_FROM     B_TO     RATE
    1     10     20     100     200     0.5
    1     10     30     201     300     0.25
    1     31     40     200     300     0.25
    2     10     20     1000     2000     0.275
    2     21     30     1000     2000     0.385
    3     10     20     1000     2000     0.658
    3     10     30     2000     5000     0.541
    3     31     40     1000     2000     0.695
Above table is being used to update another table based on ID column
    Update Statement
    Update table1 t
    set t.rate = (select r.rate from rate_table r
    where t.id = r.id and
    (t.col_a between r.a_from and r.a_to) and
    (t.col_b between r.b_from and r.b_to) )
    where exists
    (select 0 from rate_table r
    where t.id = r.id and
    (t.col_a between r.a_from and r.a_to) and
    (t.col_b between r.b_from and r.b_to) )
    This update would return error
"ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one row"
This is due to the fact that while matching records against table TABLE1 to RATE_TABLE, the range for specific ID are overlapping.
    My question.
How can I identity or avoid ORA-01427 error on the update statement? or how do i identity overlapping range records in RATE_TABLE?
