Accepting comments

Hi, all. I've been using iWeb since right after it came out. I'd like to add a weekly blog, but doing so without the ability to accept comments is a drag. Does anyone know how to include a comments section either through iWeb directly or by pasting in third party HTML?

You will see little blue marks under a member’s name. Those marks denote how experienced someone is on the group. People like myself may be knowledgeable, but are just starting out on the forum. Others have been here quite a while and are generally more experienced in troubleshooting problems. Awarding points are a way of stating that you are grateful and help identify individuals who provide generally helpful tips. It is in part an incentive to come back and help again. Gratitude goes a long way. It is a way of nurturing good feelings within the group.
Here is what the Apple discussion team has to say about it:

When you return to view the answers, please mark responses appropriately. Simply login and select the value you desire for applicable responses. As the author of the original question, you may assign a helpfulness value to responses. Please use the following when rating a response:
None: The response was simply a point of clarification to my original question or didn't really help.
Helpful: This response helped with a portion of my question, but I still need some additional help.
Solved: This response has solved my problem completely.
WHY SHOULD I DO THIS?
In short, here are 3 reasons why it's worth a few moments of your time:
1) Other members have taken time out of their day to assist you, so please take a moment to give them credit for the assistance they have provided.
2) Your rating not only helps your peers earn points toward their status in Discussions, but validates the quality of the solution you've received.
3) Other readers will be able determine which response(s) helped solve the original question, which will greatly enhance the knowledge and experience for all community members and visitors.

In short it is nice, helps point others to a real solution and identifies people who can be relied on for advice.
Hope that clears things up. Take care.

  • How do I accept comments in Adobe Acrobat X Pro?

I have a document with comments and would like to know how to accept the comments and remove the proofread symbols in the text.

You read wrong. Acrobat can only export geo markup to an FDF data packet (for re-import into another PDF).

  • IWeb/MobileMe not accepting comments

Over the past week or so, I have had two people tell me that they can not leave comments on my blog. I have tried myself (from MacBook Pro, iPhone 4 and Dell/Windows) and can not get a comment to post. I get the pop-up comment window, enter my comment, enter my name and then enter the security "phrase" that is provided. Then, when I hit "Add Comment" it just sits there. It does not reqister at all. And this is all on a very simple MobileMe hosted site. No outside domain. No outside tools. Just iWeb and MobileMe.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone know if MobileMe is experiencing issues that are causing this? It sounds like I am not the only one.

I manage my wife's site which includes blogs on mobileme with comments. Readers leave comments, but other readers (or the same readers at other times) report they, too, cannot leave comments. My wife often cannot post a comment (the misdisplayed comment screen hangs just as you described). I had the same experience on my computer today. In my wife's case, using Firefox instead of Safari allowed her to comment. In my case, restarting my computer cleared up the problem. But the inability to enter comments happens to too many would-be commenters on different computer using different browsers at different times to ignore. I promised my wife I would investigate. I echo your question: Does anyone know a solution or have a handle on why users have this problem?

  • Attempting to automate shared review with XI - deleted comments won't delete

We've been using the old/depricated browser based reviews for years.  We've integrated that process with several of our line of business apps.  The shared review process in XI is cumbersome to start for large groups of people from within acrobat, but we need the be able to use the shared review process in our workflows. (Looking at livecycle, but the pricing is jaw dropping.)
So we're attempting to inject the needed javascript into our pdfs to start the review process (using Delphi, with some Debenu components) .  We can do this successfully, but have noticed that deleting comments from the review are not actually deleting.
For example, using the following document level javascript in our test document:
    com.adobe.acrobat.SharedReview.Register
    (function () {if (app.viewerVersion >= 8 && (!app.viewerType.match(/Reader/) || requestPermission(permission.annot, permission.create) == permission.granted))
    {var msg = {doc: this, initiator: (new String("[email protected]")),
    id: (new String("7b68a5719741a54b9437a53f848e6588")),
    source: (new String("smb://loki/deptshare/information%20systems/temp/SR/brokefax0020-0020Copy_review.p df__7b68a5719741a54b9437a53f848e6588/")),
    driver: (new String("urn://ns.adobe.com/Collaboration/SharedReview/SMB")),
    invitees: (new String("[email protected]")),
    sentDate: (new Date(1373303925999)),
    deadDate: (new Date(1374476400963)),
    requireSave: (new Boolean(true)),
    cc: (new String("")),
    distributionMethod: (new String("UPLOAD")),
    versionInfo: (new Number(11.003)),
    accessLevel: (new Number(0))};
    Collab.registerReview(msg);}})()
will trigger the review, and accept comments from users, but if we attempt to delete any comments, and then publish those changes, the comments are coming back.
The comment XML file is indeed reflecting that the comment is deleted, but reopening the PDF shows the comments.
The comments are not being embedded into the pdf, as I've locked it with security to disallow editing the pdf.
I have noticed reading and writing to a file during the commenting process:
    C:\Users\kjohnson\AppData\LocalLow\Adobe\Acrobat\11.0\Synchronizer\resources
This is using Acrobat Pro 11.004 on Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 SP1. (both x86)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you are going down a rabbit hole of sorrow and tears.  A couple of things about what you are attempting to do.
The JavaScript API that starts a Shared Review is undocumented.  It's not in the Acrobat SDK and if you run into problems you are pretty much on your own.  LiveCylce unfortunately is not a solution in this case either.  It has no Shared Review capability in it like it used to have for the old and deprecated Browser Based Review.

  • Update iWeb Blog page from iPhone

I'm brand new to the whole blog thing so please be patient here. I put a test blog page on my iWeb site and was wondering if there is a way to add to that blog on the go from my iPhone? I'd like to take pics of the days events and upload them to the blog along with some text. Is this possible?

The iPhone can't make new blog posts on iWeb-generated blogs, because it doesn't run iWeb. However, if you set the blog to accept comments, you can post a comment from your on blog from your phone; that's how I do updates when I'm in the field.
iWeb has an option where you can allow attachments to be included in comments. I never tried this with my iPhone, so I don't know if that would work or not (I'm not sure how you would locate the attachment on the phone). Of course, if you select this option, ANYONE can post attachments to your blog comments, which isn't necessarily a good thing unless your site is password-protected.
Of course, this only applied before Apple screwed everything up with the MobileMe transition; currently, no blog comments are working at all, and Apple has given no estimate of when it will be fixed.

  • JVM_recv in socket input stream error

I've opened a socket and I'm able to access the OutputStream. However, when I try to wrap a ObjectInputStream around the socket's InputStream, I get this error:

  • Mountain Lion change color profile when use discrete video card

MacBookPro mid 2010. Update Samsung SSD 830.

Sorry, but slightly altering after losing three hours in forums where no one ever answered ...
    Thanks.
    Stefano.

    Let's see...
Sounds like you're running into an expected issue if you make an alias to removeable media.  The same thing would happen if you made the alias to a folder on a DVD-R disc or CD-R.  If you eject the original, you disable the alias.
If you copy the entire SD card volume to your drive, the PRIVATE package should copy across.  Then, as a folder on your hard drive rather than a volume on removeable media, you could make an alias to the STREAM package for quicker access later.
I'm pretty sure that Handbrake, like Prmeiere Pro, can see the MTS files directly.  That is, it's not dependant on the other folders in the PRIVATE directory sturcture.  As such, you could copy the contents of the STREAM package to another folder on your drive.  Just be mindful of the default MTS file names if you're using more than one SD card (you don't want to accidentally copy 00001.MTS from one card over 00001.MTS from another card).
As long as Handbrake sees MTS directly, you could even rename the MTS files after you've copied them.
On a side note, I almost always archive my SD cards with the data structure intact.  More often than not, that file structure is important to corretly access the video stored within that structure.  If something unexpected happens while working with the MTS files, it is good to have the original file structure to go back to.  Although, SD cards are getting to be so low cost that sometimes I just label the SD card and store it for archiving.

  • Accepting Text Edits from Comment review Ver 7

I have successfully sent a pdf document out for review by email and comments and edit markups have been inserted. How can I accept/reject these edits with out retyping into either the PDF or the original Indesign file that the PDF was created from. I want to be able to send the PDF's for editing and review and simply accept the reviewers edits. I can't see how this is done. Can anyone help or point me to a good video podcast which can demonstrate how to do this?

You're expecting that that comment and review works the way comments work in Word. That's because in Word the reviewer is working in the same application as the creator.
There is no such connection between the comments in the PDF and the source InDesign document. You'll have to manually make the corrections marked in the PDF in InDesign.
Some of us have been asking for that feature in InDesign but to no avail so far.

  • ICal - Accept/Reject with comments

Hi - Does iCal support the accepting or rejecting of meeting invites with comments?

    Hi Lorenzo,
If workflow creates new instance, you can not pass workflow container to new workflow instance.
If comments are stored in application table, you can retrieve it from application table. It is a job for workflow template side.
    Your situation:
App comment -> Workfloe Container -> rejected and workflow instance is completed.
New event -> New workflow started -> New container does not have comments.
    Solution:
App comment -> Workfloe Container -> workflow step saves comment in app table.
New event -> New workflow started ->workflow step reads data from app table -> pass to workflow container.
    or
You can edit the workflow template for loop until approved. So new workflow instance won't be created and workflow container is available in the loop.
