Accesing a web service hosted in Plumtree Portal

I have created a process and I need to access it's PAPI web service. I
found this easy during development, I would use the Designer's WorkSpace
and access the service at
http://MYSERVER:PORTNUMBER/MYPROCESS/webservices/ProcessService?WSDL.
But, now I have deployed it in the plumtree portal this same URL format
(obviously on a different server and port) doesn't seem to work and just
gives me a "HTTP 400 - Page cannot be found" error. Is the URL format
different once it is deployed through Plumtree Portal?
Thanks,
Martyn

Got this working, was using the wrong domain...doh!

Hi,
I have now hit another issue, another one I didn't envision while
testing in the designer.
Our portal uses Active Directory to log our users in. I'm trying to use
the process web service to start instances without the users having to
go into the Process Portal UI. The issue is when I need to call
createSession it asks for a Username and Password but I can only know
the Username at this point due to using AD. Is there a way to set the
authentication type that createSession uses?
I'm guessing it might be something you change in the document.properties
file, I've tried creating a preset and using skip-auth but I'm not sure
is this is applicable or if I'm using it correctly.
I have added "directory.default.preset.test.skip-auth=true" to the
document.properties and restarted the Plumtree portal Identity Service.
I try and call service.createSessionWithPreset(USERNAME, "", False,
"test") but this still gets the error "Cannot authenticate participant".
Thanks in advance,

Yes, the URL will be a little different. It's really /APPNAME/webservices/ProcessService?WSDL. In ProcessDesigner/ALBPMStudio, the APPNAME defaults to the project name. But on ALIP/ALBPM Enterprise APPNAME is the context that the workspace was deployed as. Which is, by default, portal.
So try http://myserver/portal/webservices/ProcessService?WSDL .

My web service is using soap binding. I have tested it with eclipse and other tools also. It is working well and good. But when I tried to call a web service which is created and hosted on WebLogic server(running on port : 7001), I got the correct output.
Can anyone help me out in calling a web service hosted on different server from WebLogic server.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi
    1. The way you are invoking the WebService deployed on Tomcat server is looks suspicious. It may be valid by adding extra ?wsdl etc into the url, but still I have not seen this way to invoke the webservice.
    2. So you used Weblogic ant task to generate client JARs by giving this WSDL. So looks like it generated the 4 classes (.java) and in addition any other classes for Request/Response xml objects.
    3. Look at the source code of EchoService.java. It should have one default empty constructor. Internally it uses the default wsdl defined in this class. You will see another constructor that takes WSDL URL as one of the parameters (QName) etc. Echo.java is the class corresponding to the Port. In the same EchoService you should see an instance method like getEcho() something like that. This Echo.java class will have methods for all the Operations defined on this Port. So the standard code snippet we use most of the times will be like this:
EchoService myEchoService = new EchoService(); // Default it uses WSDL deployed on Tomcat at localhost:8080
Echo myEchoPort = myEchoService.getEchoPort(); // Something along these lines.
myEchoPort.xxxYYY(); // NOW this is the operation name that takes the input parameters and returns outputs defined as per the WSDL defintions. If the Input and Outputs are complex xml types, it will have corresponing .JAVA files with setters and getters.
Now if this WebService is deployed on same Tomcat but on different machine or different port, you just give the full WSDL URL with that host and port in the constructor for new EchoService(...). You may need to instantiate QName object. But look at the methods generated in EchoService.java class.
The way you are using with Impl and Stubs class may also work. I am not much famiiar with this APIs apporach. Still look at the methods generated in these classes.
Also if you latest Sun JDK 1.6, it also has one command like wsimport. Infact if you install WLS 10.3 with Sun JDK, it should have C:\beawlp103\jdk160_05\bin\wsimport command. This will also generate client jar given a WSDL URL.
    Thanks

  • Is it possible to invoke external REST web service hosted in WebLogic web application from an Adobe LiveCycle Process (ES-4)

Is it possible to invoke an external REST web-service hosted in WebLogic web application from an Adobe LiveCycle Process (ES-4) with parameters as input and manipulating the response depending on the type of parameters it gets back. Then invoking an Adobe Form and prepopulating the Form based on the response parameters? Do you have sample projects that do this invocation. The part highlighted in red is what I need examples.

You can simply use "Execute Script" operation in Workbench and make use of java.net.URL. Below links should help :

  • Integrating Web Services Manager with Oracle Portal and SSO

    Hi,
I wanted to throw this out there and make sure I was on the right track and also if somebody can point me to some resources online that might help. Basically, we have OWSM acting as a Gateway securing some web services. Oracle Portal is integrated w/ Oracle SSO (as well as using OID). What is the best way to pass the credentials to the OWSM from the Portal for authentication purposes? I believe using SAML voucher token is the way to go, but I'm not positive. Has anybody done this before and if so, what methodology did you use? I'm assuming since using SSO, we don't necessary want to also pass in the password.
    Thanks,
    Nathan

I have noticed that nobody has same kind of situation and this is not intresting question. Still we have same problem and I have heard many oracle employee saing that this behaviour is wanted situation. In our kind of virtual host enviroment it would be nice to choose behaviour of Single-sign-on server and I request oracle support to find out ways to enable this option... I would be pleased if some oracle development would say opinion about this mater. Waiting for ideas.

  • Get client ip address from Web Service hosted on OAS 10.1.2

    Hi,
Can anyone advice how to get the client IP from a web service (java) hosted on Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.
The below code works if the web service is hosted on Tomcat.
    MessageContext msgCtxt = MessageContext.getCurrentMessageContext();
    String IP = (String)msgCtxt.getProperty("REMOTE_ADDR");
This code is causes built errors on the OAS 10.1.2 since it needs Axis and many other Jars. I tried to insert the jars needed but unfortunately when i was able to compile it returned a java.lang.NullPointerException.
Is there a way to get the IP address of the client that calls this web service ?
Or is there a way to read the SOAP request maybe i can retrieve the client IP from it.
    Thanks for your support,

I think ronyjoy may fixed this exception...
    the solution is :
Web Service Client incompatibility between classes from JDK 6 (rt.jar) and from saaj-impl.jar, which is part of JAX-RPC distribution, causes the exception java.lang.ClassCastException: com.sun.xml.internal.messaging.saaj.soap.ver1_1.Message1_1Impl cannot be cast to com.sun.xml.messaging.saaj.soap.MessageImpl
To fix this issue, please update your saaj jars from the Snapshots download at https://saaj.dev.java.net/.

  • Web Service Host is wrong

    Hello everybody,
at the Web Service Navigator of the NWDS, the Web Services point to the wrong host. They do point to http://erp04:50000/ but should point to http://erp04.xxx.de:50000 where the J2EE Engine is installed. Thus i cant use the NWDS to test the WS. I also cant publish them to the UDDI, as there it does point to the wrong host as well.
So my question is, where is the host of the Web Services configured?
    regards,
    Markus

    Thank you for the reply,
but why does the SLD has a wrong URL for the WAS Java at all? All i have done was to trigger the SLD Supplier at the Visual Admin tool in order to get the J2EE Engine listed at the SLD. Somehow somewhere there is a wrong entry, or where does it get the url from?
    regards,
    Markus

  • Calling a web service from a portal application / SOAP Action

    Hallo,
    Daniel Dehnhard

    Hi,
I am accessing a web service from a Portal Component through a Portal Web Service. First i created a web service, then a portal web service which is made to access the wsdl file of the web service. Now i access the Portal Web Service from a Portal Component. Now i am getting an error as,
Exceptionjava.lang.IllegalArgumentException: The SOAP Action "" include in the soap request not corresponding to the Portal service method.
The code which i wrote in component is below
    String text = "word";
    FuncHelloResponse res=new FuncHelloResponse();
    FuncHello fn= new FuncHello() ;
    fn.setName(text);
    res= (  (INewPortal) PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources().getService(INewPortal.KEY)).FuncHello(fn);
    response.write(res.getResponse());
Can any one solve this problem?

  • Blank SOAP Action in Soap Request- Portal Service calling Web Service

    Hi
I'm trying to access an Web Service through a client portal service which was generated by NWDS. I called this service from a basic component and tried to execute the WS function after populating all the needed fields. When I started the component I encountered the following error.
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: The SOAP Action "" include in the soap request not corresponding to the Portal service method..
I initially thought it was because I was downloading the WSDL to my local and using that in the portal service generation. Maybe not all the information about the web service was being obtained. I tried it again after generating the portal service from the WSDL online but still obtained the same error.
Any insight on what's causing the error would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Portal Authentication from web service

I would like to run a web service on a remote machine that checks if the user of the web service exists as a portal user.
My initial thought was to just log the user in whenever they attempt to use the web service and then log them out at the end. I have researched the AuthContext class and attempted a test implementation however it errors looking for certain AM Property files.
Perhaps I should just access the directory server directly? Basically, I just want to restrict usage of the web service to the existing portal users.
If anyone could offer any suggestions it would be appreciated. (Code examples or snippets would be appreciated)
    Thanks in advance...
    Jason

    Hi,
    1) If your webservice is on the same network:
    - Just bind to LDAP (this is the fastes way)
    2) OR You can also use identity SDK to connect
to your instance and receive AMUser object.
    3) If you are not on the same network( SRAP access):
You can create a "stand alone" jsp or servlet which
doing (1) or (2) and your webservice talks over https to this servlet.
    4) Logging user to portal is too much overhead and
at the end you don't know if user is a portal user or
just has login privilege to identityserver...
    Cheers,
    Alex :-)

  • Hosting web service on one Xserve and Profile Manager on another?

    Hello.
I'm trying to get Profile Manager running on a second Xserve in our studio but I'm having an issue making connections to it from the WAN because I already have HTTP and HTTPS running on a different Xserve.
The set up is something like this:
    Xserve001 (xs1.mydomain.com)
    - DNS
    - Web service hosting a secure site (via SSL) on port 443
    - Web service hosting a non-secure site on port 80
    Xserve002 (xs2.mydomain.com)
    - Open Directory Master
    - Profile Manager on ports 80, 443, 1640
Since the router/firewall (between the WAN and be two Xserves on the LAN) handles port forwarding, right now, http and https connections (i.e., ports 80 & 443) are forwarded to Xserve001 for the web hosting.
I would like to enable Profile Manager on Xserve002, but connections won't work from the WAN (via xs2.mydomain.com) because ports 80 & 443 are forwarding to Xserve001 (from within the LAN we're fine because DNS handles everything without going through the router).
So, what would I need to do to get this to work when attempting connections from the WAN?
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

This is tricky to do, especially since you have multiple SSL certificates involved.
Ordinarily I'd say the easist option is to have xs1 proxy the connection to xs2 - that way all requests come into xs1 which then determines specific requests are for the profile manager and sends them across the local network.
This will work well enough for port 80 requests, but the SSL requests will fail unless you either have a wildcard SSL certificate (e.g. for *.mydomain.com) or you have a certificate that includes both hostnames.
Without one of these options on your server you're doomed to failure because clients will warn of a hostname mismatch in the SSL certificate (you asked for xs2.mydomain.com but I got a certificate from xs1.mydomain.com) and I don't think iOS or Mac OS X will allow you to connect in this manner.
The other solution hinges around your internet connection, and whether you only have a single IP address or multiple. If you have multiple then you can setup a different public IP address to map to xs2. This is probably the all-round easiest solution, especially when dealing with NAT networks.

  • How to allow access to web service running under ApplicationPoolIdentity

    Hi All,
I have a WCF web service hosted in IIS 7 (or maybe 7.5, whichever comes with Windows server 2008 R2) using DefaultAppPool running under ApplicationPoolIdentity per Microsoft's recommendation. The web service needs to call a stored procedure to insert data
to a db. The web server is on a different VM than the database server. The db server is running SQL 2008 R2. Both VMs run Windows server 2008 R2.
When the web service tries to connect to db, it encounters this exception:
Exception in InsertToDb()System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.
       at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection)
Here's the connection string in web.config:
    Application Name=somewebservice;Server=somewebserver;Integrated Security=SSPI;Database=somedatabase;Connection Timeout=60"
How should I configure SQL security to make this work?
    Thanks in advanced.

Thanks for the link Dan. Maybe I'm the one who cause the confusion :)
If I understand you(and Erland) correctly, you suggest using a custom, domain account for application pool identity. However, if we do that, our IT will need to maintain those accounts, and they don't  want that. So I'm choosing a built-in account called
ApplicationPoolIdentity as the application pool identity, but it's not working. Network Service, on the other hand, works, but my boss wants us to follow MS's best practice.
What's puzzling is that according to this: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/624/application-pool-identities/, both Network Service and ApplicationPoolIdentity uses machine account to access network resource (like db in this case), but in my case, Network Service
    works, but not ApplicationPoolIdentity.
    Hallo Stephen,
with respect - it seems to me that only idiots are working at your IT ;)... It is absolutely useful to work with "service accounts" created within the domain. That's the only way to manage and control accounts!
If you want to "pass through" the identity of the web user (SSO) you have to check whether the app pool is set to "allow impersonate". As far as I understand the ApplicationPoolIdentity-function the app pool will create a unique user named as the service.
I assume that will not work with the connection to the sql server because this user is unknown.
Local Service will not work because it's restriction is located to the local machine.
Network Service will work because access to network resources will be available.
So my recommendation is to use a dedicated service account or impersonation:
