Accesing music store crashes i-tunes
whenever I try to access music store it begins to connect but i-tunes closes before it reaches store. I upgraded to 6.0 today and it worked with previous version.

The "missing file" error happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
If another application like Windows Media Player has moved/renamed the files then the chances are that subtle differences in naming strategies will make it hard to restore the media to the precise path that iTunes is expecting. In such cases, as long as the missing files can be found somewhere, you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works.

ITunes Music Store Crashes - Doesn't finish loading - Help?
Hi all,
For some reason my iTunes Music Store hasn't been able to load up on my Mac Mini with Leopard. It's been months since I tried to access it because I moved (I got a new ISP), and I am just getting this computer working after months of being down. I just re[placed the PRAM battery in ordewr to get the CD Drive working. After crashing a few times and checking the boards, I have tried a few things. I upgraded iTunes & all my Apple Apps with Software Update. No Joy. I downloaded Safari and reinstalled. No luck. I downloaded iTunes and reinstalled. I ran Disk Utility to repair permissions. No luck. The Store gets about 60% of the way and then quits with the message: iTunes has unexpectedly quit.

I tried a few things suggested here, but they didn't solve the crashing issue, so I gave up and upgraded to Snow Leopard.

ITunes 6 -- Music Store Crashes It Every Time
Just installed iTunes 6.0 and it crashes every time I try to access the music store.
Anyone else having this problem? Any fix?Interesting, I have a problem with accessing my shopping cart in the itms. However everything else works. I can even buy Music using one click shopping, but ever since iTunes 6 I wasn't able to access the shopping cart.
And I like the cart buying experience, I really don't go for one click buy. -

now I'm not taking credit for this but thought other frustrated users needed to know!
I use a Linsys wireless router and connect to AOL broadband. I was having problems with V5 for weeks, upgraded to v6 and still couldn't access music store. Changed all my NIS setting etc but to no avail. Anyway I tried this and hey presto its worked I've got music back!!! Oh sweet sounds.....
In your router settings change the WAN tab to manual and set it to 1400.

By changing it, you are lowering the the size of data packets handled by the router. It sounds reasonable to me that this could work, particularly if the server is very busy, or traffic in your neighborhood is high.

ITunes 5.01 crashing w/ no error when I access music store
I've had trouble finding my particular iTUnes 5 problem on the discussion boards.
iTunes 5 installed fully on my computer. I initially upgraded thru iTunes and it was working until I attempted to access the music store, when it just closed down. No error messages. Now when I try to launch iTunes it opens for a moment, but then closes because it automatically attempts to connect to the Music store uponlaunch for my podcasts.
I've tried some of the other fixes (shutting down firewall and antivirus during installation, installing stand alone QT for which I did get an error, installing Bonjour stand alone) to no avail. Perhaps my problem is more simple.
Any Help?

if it's a 7.0.2a<something> build, i.e. a Quicktime Public Preview, iTunes will crash in a couple odd places -- going to the store (which iTunes is set up to go to on first launch)
one of my personal mysteries from the early days of 5.0.0.35 is now cleared up ... i was seeing the Music Store crashes, but couldn't work out why a clean uninstall/reinstall of QT (of all things) would often fix the problem ...

Changing User Accounts in XP. New account wont access Music Store
We have been ituning in Windows XP Pro happily. Our laptop has 2 XP user accounts you see at log in. The Itunes is set up under "Dad" (who is an administrator). We want to set up Itunes under "Son". So we installed Itunes (from scratch off the internet) into Son's User Account.
So far, so good.
"Son"'s Itunes works fine WITH ONE EXCEPTION...we can't access the Music Store to buy tunes, look at the shopping cart, etc.
The error message is approximately "Itunes can't access Music Store server...."
HOWEVER, when we log back on as Dad's XP account, it works just fine. Go back to Son's XP account, no good.
I tried logging off in the Dad account. Didn't help.
Any ideas? We are getting full internet access on the Son's User account. If we can only get one User Account to work with the Music Store. That's fine. We want to switch it to my son's XP Usre account.

I can nolonge download music from I tunes, because the music store page fades in and out and will not remain permanent to allow me to download music with a pre-paid I tunes card.
Also, why is it you can only download music to an I-pod from one primary computer. Itunes crash when browsing Music Store
I wonder if anybody can help me. iTunes tends to crash when I'm browsing the music store. It very happens often. I tried trashing the preferences and doing the disk utility according to the guys from the genius bar, but it still persist. I appreciate any help on this. Thanks.
Me too, but I'm afraid that I don't have anything worthwhile to add to the discussion. It's been going on for months and no one seems to want to acknowledge the problem. iTunes works fine as long as I don't try to send Apple any money, so I guess it's their loss except that it means I have to travel to a physical store to buy CDs on plastic optical media.

TimThis is just to confirm that I too am seeing the same problem following application of the 10.5.3 update. However, in difference to some of the other responders, podcasts continue to update without issue for me. The Console reports the following in system.log when the crash occurs:
com.apple.launchd[144] ([0x0-0x77077].com.apple.iTunes[899]): Exited abnormally: Bus error
Running a Repair Permissions job on the disk did not resolve the problem. Trashing preference files for iTunes has no effect. It's possible that iTunes is objecting to the proxy server that I connect through to the Internet at work via Ethernet so I'll try to connect at home and see if that makes any difference. -
ITunes Crashed when attempting to access Music Store
hello. I am using iTunes 6.0.5.20 as of today, and continue to have a problem carried over from the previous version...
when I attempt to access the iTunes music store in the regular manner the program closes without any error messages, the icon remaining in the system tray until i scroll my mouse over it upon which it disappears - the program crashes outright -
i have e-mailed apple support and attempted to use all of their automatically generated solutions in solving this problem including -
upgrading (was never the issue i stay up-to-date generally)
checking my network and program access settings including firewalls etc.
run the repair process
run the un-install re-install process of both itunes and quicktime
i've also tried re-calibrating the itunes library by deleting the appropriate files and having itunes re-determine the included files... nonetheless the problem remains
this is becoming immensely frustrating and to be frank, i work in the recording industry and for all the talk about apple support - i have been immensely frustrated by the lack of personal support whatsoever - i have received only automated responses regarding online documentation... as if i didn't spend horus trying to solve the problem before sending an e-mail at all.
please if anybody has any ideas i'm desperate to solve this.

eliasYour problem is the same one affecting countless iTunes users, including myself. There seems to be a common factor in that most if not all are using Windows XP Pro and I've noticed that the computer make, when listed, is a Dell. I have been through all the same Apple fixes, waited on hold for support for 1 1/2 hours just to be hung up on. I've had this issue for over a month and it has transcended both iTunes ver 6.0.4 and 6.0.5. Interesting thing, sometimes I get an error message telling me iTunes has to shut down and most of the time, the application closes unexpectantly and I have the same icon in the system tray till I hover my mouse over it. Frustration has turned to anger and a desire to find another product to get music into my and my 2 kids Ipods. I'll keep an eye on your post and let you know if I uncover anything as well.

I previously purchased some music in the I Tunes Music Store. Then i had to removed I Tunes from my computer. All my music was still in my Ipod. When I installed the software again and plugged in my ipod again and try to play the purchased music i can't. even though i write my I Tunes password and it log me correctly i still cant play that music . A window appear in the screen telling me that i tunes cant play this music because of a error.

Music Store causes iTunes to randomly crash...
Ever since upgrading to a video ipod my itunes has been playing up with the music store.
I can open iTunes fine, I can access all my files and playlists from both the PC and ipod, however when I click on Music Store, it starts loading then iTunes just disappears. There's no error message, it just crashes to desktop.
I can sometimes access the music store by going to a certain song in my library and clicking on the link next to the artist or album, but this only works sometimes.
I've tried disconnecting my ipod, closing all other applications, just about every combination, but nothing helps!
I've tried contacting apple support, but they just asked what error message I encountered, even though I already explained I was getting no error message.
Can someone help?I'm having the same problem. The only change I've made recently is installing IE8. I've tried reinstalling iTunes and Quicktime, reset IE8 settings, disabled firewall and antivirus (ESET), and even did a system restore to a date when iTunes store was working. Any other suggestions?

ITunes 9.0.2 Crashes Trying to Access iTunes Music Store on Startup
HI, everyone,
I installed iTunes 9.0.2 today in preparation for an iPhone software upgrade, but iTunes freezes 100% of the time just after it starts up and tries to access the iTunes Music Store. There's a bit of activity in the progress bar when iTunes first starts, and then the progress bar for accessing the store shows half way finished and the program crashes (every time).
I've reinstalled, rebooted, removed and replaced the preference files and my library, all to no avail.
I'm running WinXP Pro SP 3, patches all up to date, but now I can't access my library on my computer nor can I upgrade my iPhone.
Others of you have had similar problems; one of you reported a "parental control" issue with CA security suite. I have Trend Micro and can't find any parental controls to deal with.
I have IE 8 installed but use Firefox 3.0.15.
This has been a horrible day. I have many papers to grade for my college classes and expected the installation to go smoothly (as the ones in the past have; iTunes 8 worked great).

I'm working from home using the laptop the school supplied me. It's a domain machine, and Trend Micro's OfficeScan is installed but it's offline (though it seems to be working). The Windows firewall is disabled, probably because of the school's antivirus installation, so there doesn't seem to be a setting I can access.
I'd guess something on my machine is forcing iTunes to free as it starts to access the Music Store. My heart just sinks every time I start iTunes (dozens of times today), only to see it freeze solid every single time I open it.

Mac mini iTunes crashes when music store accessess anything but music
My Mac Mini crashes whenever I try to access anything but music from the iMusic store. I can play song previews fine. However, once I try to access video or podcasts, iMusic will crash. iMusic then continues to crash as soon as the music store is connected. If I remove my iTunes Library and iTunes Music Library.xml files it reverts to the original symptoms.

ITunes Crashing When Trying to Access Music Store
Just updated to iTunes 5.0 under Win XP and now whenever I click on the "Music Store" on the left bar the program crashes. I've restarted and tried reinstalling itunes with no positive result. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how was it solved? Thanks.

itunes 5 crashes when I click the podcast directory link and if I try to open the itunes store.
just the standard error, "windows has found a problem with itunes.exe and needs to close........"
after a few uninstalls, reinstalls and reboots I decided to just say screw it and revert back to itunes 4.9
now itunes wont open at all, I get the error "the file "iTunes library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes." Im soo screwed.... please help !!
