Access a repository in Data Services 4.0 Designer

Hi all
I installed the Data Services 4.0. and created DS Central repository "DS_repo".
This repository is visible in the CMC Data service but having the Connection status- not active
and when we try to login the DS Designer by administrator it show a message
No Repository are associated with this user
try another user or system
Can any one tell me how to use the repository in my Data Servicies designer

Hi Bapin,
I had the same problem - the solution was the creatiion of an additional local repository.
You also need to make sure to add the users as principals for the local repository.

I am new to Business Objects Data Services, currently i am working on Data Services, can any one please solve my problem. I am trying to create a Repository in Data Services Management Console of database type MySQL. The details what i provided, is given below:
Repository name:Repository_ONE
Database type:MySQL
Machine name: the system name on which MySQL is installed is provided
Database port: port on which MySQL database installed is provided ie., 3306(default)
Database Name:BOE120 (Here i provided the database name which was installed while BO Edge series is installed)
Finally username and password are maintained. When i click on Test i am getting an error message "Table 'boe120.al_version' doesn't exist", here i am not understanding why this error message is getting. So can anyone please through some ideas to resolve this issue.

you can use the same database, but did you create the DS repository during DS Installation ? while installation it will ask you if you want to configure the repository or skip configuration ? if select yes to configure the repo, it will ask you to enter the database login details, you should use the same login details in management console. did you create the repo during installation ?
or From the Data Services program menu, select Repository Manager
Enter the login details, and click on get version, does this returns a version or same error ? if you get the same error then click on create button to create the repo once that completes, you can register the repo in management console

Error while registering a new repository on Data Services 4.0

Hi all,
I've a BO Enterprise Platform 4.0 + Data Services 4.0 installation, and I'm trying to register a new local repository in addition to the installation default one. I followed these steps:
1) Create a new database schema for the repository
2) Created the local repository with repository manager
3) Created a new job server associated with the new repository through the server manager
4) Tried to register the new repository in the CMC
I wasn't able to complete the step 4 since i got the following error "unable to connect to profile server".
Any clue?

what is the complete version of DS 4.0 ? also check the REPO_TYPE in AL_VERSION table, for local repo this will be NULL

Data Services 4.0 Designer. Job Execution but empty log file no matter what

Hi all,
am running DS 4.0. When i execute my batch_job via designer, log window pops up but is blank. i.e. cannot see any trace messages.
doesn't matter if i select "Print all trace messages" in execution properties.
Jobserver is running on a seperate server. The only thing i have locally is just my designer.
if i log into the Data Services management console and select the job server, i can see trace and error logs from the job. So i guess what i need is for this stuff to show up in my designer?
Did i miss a step somewhere?
can't find anything in docs about this.

MS Access 2003 and Data Services 3.0

I want to access MS Access 2003 from Aqualogic Data Services 3.0. The documentation tells me that Aqualogic Data Services 3.0 supports MS Access 2003
I read the "Extending Database Support" from the Administration Guide to deploy the xml file ... I did it successful!
But I can't configure the data source in the console to point to Access2003. How can I do it?

The aqualogic Data Services release 3 support MS Access 2003, as you can verify in "Relational Providers Included With ALDSP" in this manual:

In the http://localhost:7001/console, when I go to the "Create a New JDBC Data Source", only those DB appears in the Database Type: "adabas for z/OS, CICS/TS for z/OS, Cache, Cloudscape, DB2, DB2 for z/OS, Derby, Enterprise DB, FirstSQL, IMS/DB for z/OS, IMS/TM for z/OS, Informix, Ingres, MS SQL Server, MaxDB, MySQL, Oracle, PointBase, PostgreSQL, Progress, Sybase, VSAM for z/OS , Other".
But the "MS Access 2003" didn't appears in this menu. The MS-Access.jar file was copied into ALDSP\provider path, and another items was created succesfully as shown in the "Deploying the rational provider" in http://edocs.bea.com/aldsp/docs30/admin/aldsp-wrapper-ext.html#wp1136406
I wants to create the datasource for MSAccess 2003. How can I do it?

Creating Repositories using MS SQL Server DataBase in Data Service Reposito

I installed BODS and I am trying to create repository using Data Service Repository Manager but I am getting the following error message :
Cannot open connection to the repository. The error message from the underlying DBMS is <ODBC call <SQLDriverConnect> for data source <localhost> failed: <[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.>. Notify Customer Support.>. (BODI-20006)
An error occurred during creation of the local repository. (BODI-300054)
While installing BODS i used the option to create DB .... Before that even I had Microsoft SQL server installed for MDM which was working fine (Able to Log on and so on)...
Do I need to install Oracle in order to create repositories? How to proceed further please suggest.

Hi!
What version of SQL Server are you using for the repositories? Maybe the error is because DS can not create repositories in SQL Server 2008. You can read and write data with SQL2008, but you need to create the repositories in SQL2005 or another RDBMS. I'm not sure when DS is going to be able to create them in SQL2008.

When running a data services job, from within Data Services Designer, when trying to re-run the same job, I get the following error messages:

When I go and look into the Data Services repository AL_BW_REQUEST table, the first time the job is run, all five fields in this table populate with data successfully. When re-running the job, on 3 out of the five fields within this table are populated but the VALUE and DF_NAME field are not populated, hence causing the primary key violation.
Here is the data below from the AL_BW_REQUEST table:

If I truncate this table and re-run the DS job, it will not populate the VALUE and DF_NAME fields.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? The target source is BW.

Data Services 12.2.2.0 cannot open connection to the repository NEW Install

I can connect to the repository DB using Toad and SQL Management Studio, but I cannot connect with DS. I've tried 12.2.0.0 and most recently 12.2.2.0 - nothing is working, any helpful advice is appreciated.

Master data services - EDIT access only

Hi Gurus,
I am wondering if there is an option in Master data services where I can restrict the users to only edit the records and in this case they cannot delete the records. I see that, the update option allows both edit and delete access.
Also, in the security privileges table, what does the execute and control privilege exactly mean.

In the SQL2012 or SQL2014 release, there are 3 permissions, Deny, Update, ReadOnly.
Update means user can Create, Delete, Update.
In the SQL vnext, we are considering has granular permission as CRUD.
For now, as a workaround, I think you can give user ReadOnly permission on the entity or membertype (leaf) level, and give update permission on each attribute. So they can edit the attribute, but cannot create/delete the member.
Execute and control privilege are deprecated level from SQL 2008R2. They have no effect and are completely removed in the next release in the UI.

SAP BO Data Services Repository Login error

Hi All,
I am a new SAP data services 4.0 user. I am getting following error while connecting to the repository while starting the designer.
ERROR: ODBC call <SQLDriverConnect> for data source <SERVERNAME> failed. <[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB] SSL security error>. Notify customer support. (BODI - 1112172)
However, it worked just fine initially and suddenly started throwing the above error.

ODSI can be accessed as a webservice, as a jdbc connection using the provided jdbc driver or using the java client. Check the PL/SQL documentation to see what is possible.

Missing Data Cleanse package option in Data services Repository Manager

Hello, I am trying to create a repository for data cleansing package repository in database using Repository Manager, but the drop down list box is not giving an option "Data Cleansing" to create repository. Only three values are available (Local,CEntral, and Profile).
Using Data Services 3.0 Version. Any help or any workarounds creating a repository with our Repository Manager.

We searched log files and found no errors.
We then decided to attempt re-creating the local repository. We checked the Show Details box.
The local repository was reported has having been successfully created. This was the result we had before.
We then checked for canned functions and the list matched to those of our Oracle and SQL Server local repositories.
So, best guess is that something went wrong on the initial local repository creation that was either not reported or reported, but we missed.

Data Services Designer - how to access from pc?

Hello experts,
We have just installed a Data Services instance for the client's projet.
Everything seems to be ok on the server side.
I was just wondering what the functionnal consulting needs from its side to access the DS interface on the server?
Do we have to deploy the Designer on each consulting pc? (media SBOP_DS_DESIGNER_40_WIN64 ?)
Do you know which port must be open to allow access from pc to server?

Hi,
usually the Designer gets deployed on eacht development PC. On the other hand you could also install it in a Terminal Environment such as Citrix.
From the Host(s) where the Designer is installed to the Host where the DS Server part is installed you need to open the ports for the Services such as JobServer, Access Server, Profiler Server etc.
You defined these ports during the installation of the Server.

Using PHP Data Services to create an object and accessing that objects data in an unbound way in AS

Hello,
I've been able to use the php data services and bind the results of a function to a component. However I am having a hard time figuring out the syntax to use the data services to create an object out of the results, and then use that object as an array of filenames to provide the current index of the filename to a new sound object.
My problem is obviously in not being able to figure out the specific syntax, I have declared the service and and object of the services returned type and in the creationComplete() function I have assigned object.token = service.getData();
I've tried various ways of then pulling that data out of the object, with no success.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
This code probably looks horrible because it doesn't work yet.

In retrieving your data - what is your php returning to FB, an object, object array, an array? Either way, I have a brief example below that an object(s) is being returned. Pull the data from the lastResult in a ResultEvent. The object instantiated in the resultEvent will contain your data and you can do what you want from there.
Also, I always use Network Monitor to see what data (if any) is being returned from the server, you can also see how it is being sent back.
