You mean besides just exporting and importing the wireless profile that uses that key?!?
You can also create a deployment file that will contain the key.
Just remember that profile exports/deployments are operating system and version dependant. i.e don't try to import a profile in v5.31 for Vista from a v4.42 version for XP.

I have an issue which i really hope someone have a solution for as either googling and searching through 53 pages on this forum has not provided me with an answer. Here goes...
The hospital on which i'm working are about to change their IT-infrastructure and when this migration takes place i will no longer be able to use Access Connections. I have about 30 profiles in AC and all of them with a security key which would be hell to setup again through windows wireless.
Do any of you know of a way to export profiles from AC and then import them to Windows Wireless?

Domain policy wireless profiles are not compatible with Access Connections.
The problem stems that Domain profiles are stored in a different part of the registry than a locally created WZC profile. Since these are part of the domain policy, they cannot be altered locally. Microsoft wouldn't provide Lenovothe encryption used (for obvious security reasons), so the domain policy based profiles can't be manipulated by Access Connections.
But we do provide an ADM template that can be used to do much the same things.

How to turn on and off the Export Import capability in Quality &Production

Can any one tell me how to turn on and turn off the export, import capabilities in the Quality n Production Systems . All I know about this is, it is an SAP XI Basis task, and I am not able to get any documents related to it .

Hi,
Do you mean you want to disable Tools --> Export / Import feature?
Normally if you are using File Transports then lock the OS level access for all user id's and this would make sure that no transport of objects take place.

Access connections not displaying in range wireless networks

A couple of weeks ago I had a problem with my X200 (Win 7 64bit) which hung during bootup and had to be recovered by a hard power down. It restarted OK but ever since then Access connections does not show any wireless connections available. It will actually connect by wireless no problem but I now have no choice on what I can connect to. I tried a system restore to a point before the problem started - still the same. I tried the Lenovo phone helpdesk and they suggested re-installing the Wi-fi driver by downloading and installing the most recent update. The machine is fitted with an Intel Wi-fi Link 5100 and I've installed the latest driver 13.02.0000. The installation instructions also indicted that I needed to update the Thinkpad Power Management driver, Thinkvantage Access Connections and Hotkey Features Integration for compatibility with the latest Wifi driver, which I did in reverse order. After all this, the problem still persists. Any ideas on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

So, I uninstalled Access Connections and reinstalled via Lenovo Update.
It now works, yet i could only innitially connect via "details" and not graphical... after which the graphical interface now reads the network as being there and connected (it took a while for it to show up)
I will update whether or not this "fix" sticks.
For those of you who are like "Why use Access Connections at all?",--I like the customizable profiles (performance vs power savings, proxy etc)

Virtualbox & zpool export / import

Hi guys,
I am trying to use the zfs export / import feature to move a zpool from one virtualbox to another.
Host: windows 7
VB version: 4.2.10
Guests: solaris 10 u10
So, I created a zpool on guest1, exported it using zfs export, stopped guest1, start guest2, added the same disk, and when I issue zpool import nothing gets printed out.
Is there something wrong that I'm doing? Or zpool export / import is simply not supported on VirtualBox?

Access Connections Block 1 Specific SSID

We are rolling out two wireless networks (guest and domain) at our home office and want to block our domain joined laptops from connecting to the guest SSID to avoid confusion and keep people connected correctly. We are planning on using Access Connections to load profiles on the domain joined laptops but would like to block users from manually connecting to the guest SSID but we still need to allow users to make other manually wireless connections when they are not at the home office, travelling, at home, etc. We basically need to block the machine from connecting to one particular SSID. Can Access Connections do this for us? Thanks.

I don't think Access Connections has this feature, and even if it did, it would be possible to use Windows wireless config to connect to the banned SSID (e.g. by not using Access Connections).
So I think you need to do this at a Windows level, not at an Access Connections level.

ThinkVantage Access Connections cannot export .loc profile

Hello,
I've tried to export one of the location profiles in Thinkvantage AC. The function however is disabled in the profile maintenance window/menu. Access connection thus only allows importing, but no exports possible.
I've already tried using the Deployment tool for creating .loa files. But as this is binary gibberish, it's not much more useful to me than a registry export.
So, does anybody alternatively have a *.loc file at hand for public viewing? Couldn't find a single example on the web. (Much less in Lenovos documentation or web site...)

Here's an update to my situation:
ThinkVantage Access Connections Issue
I just gave up on this and uninstalled it so no conflicts on this now. (Not critical to me unless someone more knowledgeable thinks it should be!)
Rescue and Recovery: I tried reinstalling both the Thinkvantage version 4.21 and Rapid Restore 4.0 after disabling all virus protection and uninstalling whichever one was on at that time.
Thinkvantage version 4.21: Gave me tons of errors in the pre windows R&R environment so I gave up after rebooting a couple of times It told me there was a problem with factory.exe and the following files were "corrupt and unreadable":

Rapid Restore 4.0: Reinstalled from c:\ibmtools\apps.
Ran both "Create Rescue Media" and Rapid Restore 4.0. "Create Rescue Media"seemed to work ok and burned a CD for me. Rapid Restore had a problem and closed on it's own, but then proceeded to prompt me through 17 CDs for a backup!?! Can I rely on these? Is there a way to check their integrity? Of course, a fix for the program seeming to end--but not really --would be great. Also, the program to create the factory product recovery disks is no longer in Start-Programs menu. The pre Windows R&R environment seems to load ok--no obvious error messages.
Finally, since I reinstalled the software is the backup to factory info gone from my computer? Is there a way to check? What is the relationship between this and Windows System Restore which is reserving 9Gb on my HD--do I need both?

Can't import profiles in Access Connections 5.02

I exported location profiles in Access Connections 5.02. When I exported, it prompted me for a password, which I entered. However, when I tried to re-import the profiles, it did NOT prompt me for a password and failed with an error saying "Unable to import file. Incorrect passphrase or corrupted file." Well, how can I enter a passphrase when it doesn't prompt me for one on import?!!
This is on a Thinkpad T61p.

BTW: for the above situation, you will be prompted for the passphrase, once you open AC GUI and import this .loc file manually.
BTW2: I would more advice to use the LOA export file, as this is more extended and you can do more, then just import and export AC profies. However, for this second option you need to download the Admin pack for AC.

BUG: cannot import connections exported from SQLDeveloper

clicked on Database Navigator, right clicked on Connections, click on Import Connections ... doesn't do anything
(also setup a connection and tried to EXPORT the connection details .. this did nothing also)

you may want to post this to the SQL Developer forum because this is not an Oracle JDeveloper bug (if at all). Exporting/importing from Oracle JDeveloper to SQL Developer works.
The problem with exporting/importing from SQL Developer might be that SQL Developer is a tool on its own and just uses the JDeveloper core IDE as a shell.
The answer if import/export is a feature supposed to work - in which case it would be a bug - can only be given by the SQL Developer folks

SQL Dev3.0 Prod: Export/Import connection wont accept network path

Update....
SQL Developer 3.0 Production (win xp 32 bit, with JRE download):
Export/Import connection wont accept network path.
but you can map the network path to a drive and use that.
Steps:-
1. setup SQL Developer with at least one oracle database connection.
2. On menu "View > Connections" (if you dont see connection tree window)
3. right click "Connections", do Export to local drive as an *.xml file (eg c:\connections.xml)
4. again right click "Connections"
5. Click Export Connections
6. Click Browse
7. Enter network drive path for the *.xml file
example:- path name as \\MyFriendsPC\path\connections.xml
Result:- SQL Developer wont accept UNC style path
8. On windows folder open C:\
9. Copy c:\connections.xml
10. On windows folder goto \\MyFriendsPC\path\
11. paste connections.xml at \\MyFriendsPC\path\
12. On SQL Developer right click "Connections" on the connection tree box
13. do "Import Connections"
14. Click "Browse"
15. Enter UNC path \\MyFriendsPC\path\connections.xml
Result:- SQL Developer wont accept UNC style path
PS: If you manually enter the UNC path in the box before the "browse" button it works. Or if you mapped to network folder as a drive it works.

So what exacly should I do?What exactly you should not do is mess around with the default cipher suite settings, unless you really know what you're doing, which isn't in evidence.

Problem with Access Connections peer to peer comunity feature

I am working on a project at work and would really like to use the P2P Community feature in Access Connections. In testing, I discovered that when using the P2P Community feature the software configures the wireless adapter to a static IP address and static DNS server. When the laptop disconnects from the P2P community and reconnect to a Wifi network, it can't because the IP/DNS defaults don't revert back to automatic.
I could override the defaults by changing the settings in the location profile. But I work in a compay with 2000 laptops each has multiple connection profiles, not including the staff that have setup their own profiles. It would be unmanageable to update all the profiles.
Is there a solution to this issue?

Do your AC profiles have the Override TCP/IP and DNS Defaults box "ticked" on the Additional Settings tab on the profile?
Also, are your current network settings on "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS sevrer address automatically"?

When I attempt to export/import via FTP for OOTP 11 I get a connectivity error message

I participate in OOTP ver 11 fantasy baseball leagues which uses FTP to export and import league databases. For some reason, I have been unable to import/export using FTP. Each time I attempt to export/import I get a connectivity error message stating "am unable to connect". I have not had this problem with the previous versions of OOTP Fantasy Baseball. Plus, when I first upgraded to OOTP 11, I did not have this problem.

GUI Export/Import Dump feature?

Will SQL Developer ever have a GUI Export/Import wizard. Right now we use the exp/imp DOS commands to acheive this. It would be nice to have a GUI guide you through the process in SQL Developer.

Sorry I could not respond earlier. This week has been absolutely CRAZY 4 me.
What I'd like to see (in addition to what Tony just mentioned above) is a Wizard kind of interface that lets me export/import an entire database/schema/table etc. I should be able to select the from and to character set. I should have all the options available in the current command line exp/imp utility (but in a good GUI interface). I'm just pasting all the command line options currently available with exp/imp below. Some of these options can be permanent settings which can be specified somewhere in the preferences. The things that change with each export or import like userid etc.. can be options on the wizard.
In addition to that if you have sql*loader control file also that would make it a great tool indeed!

Best choice for exporting / importing EUL

Hi all
I have been tasked with migrating an EUL from a R11 to a R12 environment. The Discoverer version on both environments is 10.1.2 and the OS is Solaris on oracle db's.
I am unfortunately not experienced with Discoverer and there seems to be no one available to assist for various reasons. So I have been reading the manual and forum posts and viewing metalink articles.
I tried exporting the entire eul via the wizard and then importing it to the new environment but i was not successfull and experienced the system hanging for many hours with a white screen and the log file just ended.
I assumed this was a memory problem or slow network issues causing this delay. Someone suggested I export import the EUL in pieces and this seemed to be effective but I got missing item warnings when trying to open reports. This piece meal approach also worried me regarding consistency.
So I decided to try do the full import on the server to try negate the first problem I experienced. Due to the clients security policies I am not able to open the source eul and send it to our dev. I was able to get it from their dev 11 system but I dismissed this as the dev reports were not working and the only reliable eul is the Prod one. I managed to get a prod eex file from a client resource but the upload to my server was extremely slow.
I asked the dba to assit with the third option of exporting a db dump of the eul_us and importing this into my r12 dev environment. I managed this but had to export the db file using sys which alleviated a priviledge problem when logging in, I have reports that run and my user can see the reports but there are reports that were not shared to sysadmin in the source enviroment are now prefixed with the version 11 user_id in my desktop and the user cannot see her reports only the sysadmin ones.
I refreshed the BA's using a shell script I made up which uses the java cmd with parameters.
After some re reading I tried selecting all the options in the validate menu and refreshing in the discover admin tool.
If I validate and refresh the BA using the admin tool I get the hanging screen and a lot of warnings that items are missing( so much for my java cmd refresh!) and now the report will not open and I see the substitute missing item dialogue boxes.
My question to the forum is which would be the best approach to migrate the entire eul from a R11 instance to a R12 instance in these circumstances?

Yes the DBA initially did an exp for me using EUL_US as the owner but a strange thing happened with privileges and also, some of the imported tables appeared in the target environment under the apps schema(21 tables) even though the eul_us exp had been 48 tables.
I also had a problem on the db with "eul_us has insufficient privileges on table space discoverer" type errors.
I checked the eul_us db privileges and was unable to resolve this initial privilege error even though the privileges were granted to eul_us.
The dba managed to exp as system and then import it with the full=y flag in the import command which seems to bring in the privileges.
Then I ran the eul5_id.sql and then made up a list of the business areas and made a sh script to refresh the business areas as follows:
java -jar eulbuilder.jar -connect sysadmin/oracle1@dev -apps_user -apps_responsibility "System Administrator" -refresh_business_area "ABM Activities" -log refresh.log
This runs successfully and I can log in select business area and grant access to the users. The reports return data.
Then one of the users said she can't see all her reports. I noticed some if I opened desktop that were sitting there prefixed with a hash and her version 11 user id.
So back to the manuals and in the disco admin help the instructions are to first go to view > validate > select all options then go to the business area and click file refresh. This gives me a lot of warnings about items that are missing. I assume this is because the item identifiers brought across in the db dump are the version 11 ones and thus not found in the new system.
Any suggestions?

After Update via System Update, Thinvantage Access Connection failt to load with reference to a missing call in a DLL (very long string). Deinstalled Access Connections now and will reinstall manually...

ACTray.exe - Unable To Locate Component
This Application has failed to start because ACGUIHlpr.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
