Access Connections Admin Enabler

Hi,
A couple questions about Admin Enabler.  Is there a way to create a distribution package to delete existing profiles?  I have a profile on a bunch of systems I want to replace.  I have tried creating a distribution package which includes a profile with the exact same name.  The result is that the existing profile is just renamed ProfileName(1)  and the new profile is created in addition.
Alternatively, is there a way to create a distribution package that can simply modify an existing profile?  Specifically, we need to remove the "override proxy configuration" check box in all of our profiles as it removes the proxy settings we push out with group policy.
It would be nice in future versions if  "override proxy configuration" wasn't checked by default when creating a profile.  We spent days trying to figure out why group policy wasn't applying our proxy settings on certain computers, only to find that Group Policy in fact was applying the proxy settings, and Access Connections was removing them as its default setting is to override the Proxy Settings....just my 2 cents.
Thanks
Solved!

Hi,
unfortunately there is no option to create a distribution package, that will delete a network profile.
You can do it using the command line option, or if you delete it manually from the registry.
I assume, as you are using multiple systems, you will go with the command line option, which I of course preffer when I have to perform such task on multiple machines. This is easy to do, as you just created a simple script/batch file which will execute this command.
In case you want to change only this one setting, then you can do it also form the registry:
- go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\Access Connections\Locations\Alcatel\AdptList\Adpt00
- delete the following key: m_bSetBrowserPxySettings
After you delete this key, the "Override proxy configuration" check box will be unchecked/deactivated.
In fact, there is an option, on how to prohibit this option while a new AC profile gets created.
For this purpose you need to apply the ADM file for Access connection, which can be downloaded here:
XP:
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/acplgin45.exe
Vista and Win7:
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/acplgin50.exe
- once you apply this ADM file, you can configure this on following place in the GPO:
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Lenovo ThinkVantage Components\Access Connections
- in this "folder" you will see the option "Override proxy configuration during new profile cration" and once you set it to "Disable", then this option will be always dissabled, when a user will create a new AC profile.
In case you are not really ok with the ADM file option, then (as I assume you already know) you can import this key into every client system, which will kind of simulate the same, as you performed using GPO:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Lenovo\AccessConnection]
"DefaultOverrideProxyConfig"=dword:00000000
I hope, this should help you out.
In case you have any additional questions, then please let me know. I'll try to help also with other questions.
Otherwise, please feel free to mark this thread as fixed.
Cheers

Which version of the Lenovo drivers are you using for your laptop?
I have a sneaky feeling that SP3 installed a "newer version" wifi driver and didn't quite tell you. In fact, during one of my updates at MS (for XP-SP2) the Atheros wifi drivers got on a list of "drivers to be updated". I unchecked the selection before the MS update "installed a newer version of the driver". This could potentially be the issue that's preventing the wifi card from communicating with a wifi manager properly. If that's the case, the best bet would be to try "disabling" the Wireless LAN in Device Manager completely, uninstall all wifi-related drivers and reboot.
Let's troubleshoot a bit further.  I would suggest this - it's a bit of a procedure, but you'll find out what's going on...
There are two other possibilities for you to try:
    1) Use Atheros Client Utility - keep Lenovo wifi drivers (this is less intrusive):
    - Forget about AC or Zero Wireless, and install the Atheros Wifi Manager instead - it's called "Atheros Client Utility".  Often the case can be resolved by using a "native" wifi manager for a "native" card (Atheros - Atheros).  Access Connections is a great tool, but if you do make full use of all the features, then it's a bit of an overkill for the regular user.
    - uninstall AC, disable Zero Wireless.
    - Install Atheros Client Utility
    - you can get the Atheros Client Utility from here or here (don't install the drivers when prompted, just the Client Utility)
    - see if that works.
    2) Use stock Atheros drivers with the MS Zero Wireless instead of Lenovo wifi drivers
    - only issue here is that the Fn-F5 feature will not enable/disable your wifi card. (Lenovo drivers are tweaked for precisely this purpose). Point is, however, that you want to troubleshoot where the problem lies, so this may be worthwhile.
    - Uninstall the Lenovo Wifi drivers as well as the AC program (you can retain your profiles as an option during uninstall process of AC),
    - then install a stock Atheros-based wifi driver (if you need a link I'll post it here), then try to see if Windows wifi manager (Zero wireless) will "see" any AP's.  If it does, then it means something's up with either AC or Lenovo wifi drivers, or both. If it still doesn't see it, then something inclued in SP3 could be to blame and more thorough (re)search would be required.
Otherwise, you may also want to take a peek at MSDN forums to see if others are experiencing Wifi issues due to SP3.

  • Enable auto connection with Access Connections?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to make my T61 connect to my mobile broadband internet connection automatically when coming out of sleep and/or hibernate? Can it be done through Access Connections? I'm running the latest AC on Vista 64.

You can set Access Connections to connect to your WAN if none of the other wireless profiles are available.
Open Access Connections and in the upper right, switch from Basic to Advanced.
Go to the Tools tab and click on  Location Switching.
The bottom check box can be set "When no other connections are available, connect through WAN or WiMax"
    Set that and click Ok.

  • Access control not enabled

    Hi,
I have a problem in create user in TimesTen.
    When I write command:
    create user testuser identified by 'test';
command line give me an error:
    15007: Access control not enabled
    The command failed.
    My ttVersion is:
    TimesTen Release 7.0.3.0.0 (32 bit NT) (tt70_32:17000) 2007-09-19T16:04:16Z

    Daemon home directory: C:\TimesTen\tt70_32\srv\info
    My OS is Windwos 2000.
I found advice on this forum but it doesn't work. I tell about doing this command:
    ttDaemonAdmin -stop
    ttuser -init c:\TimesTen\tt70_32\srv\info\ttpasswd -admin dominik
    ttDaemonAdmin -start
Can anyone have idea how to make access control enable??
    Dominik

First of all, I want to thank you Chris for so many suggestions :)
So I answer to your sentences:
You need to uninstall and re-install TimesTen in order to enable the access control facility.I think that this solution won't help.. I really remember that I check Access Control during the instalation, because I install TimesTen first time and I use viewlet from oracle site for help!!
Do you have a supported version of the Oracle client installed? Yes I'm sure that both of the system have supported Oracle version (Oracle 10g)
Is the environment setup properly for the Oracle client? Did the user you were logged in as when you installed TimesTen have a valid Oracle client environment. In 99.99% of cases, this issue is because the Oracle client is not installed or the TimesTen service does not have a valid Oracle client environment. As I said, I install TimesTen with viewlet, so I think that properly setup environment
Actually, you van enable access control without uninstalling and re-installing. You need to run the command: ttmodinstall -enableaccesscontolI try this command on Windows and that is the result:
Would you like to enable access control for this instance? [ no ] yes
NOTE: The daemon must be stopped before enabling access control.
Would you like to stop the daemon? [ yes ]
    Retrying ...
    Retrying ...
    Retrying ... <- and process doesn't retry :/
Even if I start this process on Administration Panel -> Services and write command ttVersion in command line, still Access Control is not shown :/
I try this command on Linux too..
    And this is the result:
Would you like to enable access control for this instance? [ no ] yes
NOTE: The daemon must be stopped before enabling access control.
Would you like to stop the daemon? [ yes ]
    Enabling access control ...
    Patching successful ...
    Restarting the daemon ...
Warning: library libclntsh.so does not exist at /oracle/10g/lib or /oracle/10g/lib32. Check ORACLE_HOME for proper operation of Cache Connect.
    TimesTen Daemon startup OK.
Access control is now enabled for this TimesTen instance.
It look nice, but when I try co connect:
    connect "dsn=ttdemo;oraclepwd=myuser";
    It not work :/
Can anyone help me now?? Chris??

  • Can't connect in WEP/ Lenovo Access connections/ befw11s4 router

I am using a BEFW1154 router with Comcast Cable on a Windows XP platform with Lenovo Access connections to manage my wireless, and I can't get my router to work in the WEP encrypted mode. The router works perfectly well when it's not encrypted, and it also works when connected by Ethernet. I have updated the firmware (although I know this is an old router). On the router end, I have tried generating both a 64 and 128-bit key. My settings are all default otherwise, except for authentication in the "Wireless" tab, which I have changed to Shared. (It didn't work in Open or Both). In Access Connections, I have chosen "Static Wep" for Wireless security type, "Shared" for authentication method, and then entered either the 10 Hex for 64-bit encryption or 26 Hex for 128-bit encryption. Neither works! I've also tried pretending it's WPA-TSK, WPA2-TSK, WPA-AES and WPA2-AES also, for good measure, just in case. It says the authentication does not work, whatever I do. I've also tried just using plain old Windows to manage the connection, but that's not working either. This Thinkpad T42 and Access Connections connects successfully to networks all over the place, so it's definitely something I'm doing. I had to clone my MAC address in the router's interface to get it to work wirelessly initially, FYI. Don't know if this is related. I'm worried I'm doing something very simple wrong, like entering the WEP key incorrectly or not using 13 alphanumeric instead. Anyone with any insight here?
(Edited subject to keep threads from stretching. Thanks!)

Well try upgrading the firmware of the router & keep on holding tightly the reset button in such a way that power light is blinking on the router & then do a complete network power cycle i.e., unplug the power cables from the modem & from the router & then plug in the power cable to the modem first once all the lights are solid green you could plug in the power cable to the router & configure the router & check out it will definately work!!
    To do the wireless settings:-
Please access the setup page of the router by launching an Internet
Explorer and type on the address bar, 192.168.2.1 and press enter. When
it prompts for the username and password, leave the username field
empty and provide password as “admin "" all in lower cases and then
    click on ok.
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here Wireless Network mode should be mixed
    - Provide any name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box, all in
lower cases without any spaces in between.
    - Set wireless channel to 11
    - And wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on save
    settings.
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the
    Network Identifier.
    For Wireless Security : -
Now Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security.
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP
    Encryption should be 64 bits.
Leave the Pass phrase blank, don't type in anything.
And under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please.
    Click on save settings.
Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the
    Wireless Network.

  • Access Connections 5.3 doesn't see wireless

Suddenly Access Connections can no longer see any wireless networks -- even though the Windows wireless manager connects fine.  There are other similar recent posts but without a solution that works.
    T41 Type 2373
    WinXP SP3
    Access Connections 5.3
Atheros a/b/g wireless lan mini PCI, with driver v4.1.2.156
    Hotkey features 1.31.0610
    Solutions I've tried already:
Ran sys update to get latest versions
    turned off firewall
removed Access Connections including all profiles
    removed wireless adapter driver
    removed hotkey features
    rebooted
reinstalled Hotkey, Wireless driver, and Access Connections
    rebooted
turned off firewall again during connection attempt
Access Connections fails to connect wirelessly (but connects OK hardwired)
The Connections Status window shows wireless radio not turned on Error Code 16  (even though the radio is on).  When I run repair, the error changes to code 9 - no wireless networks in range (even though more than one is in range).  I can connect via WinXP wireless mgr with no problem.
    Thanks for any help!

well i don't have xp on my machine and it is a t61 so what i can assist with is limited. (vista business access connections 5.31) i've reviewd you troubleshooting steps but first i do have to ask since it was a sudden change do you recall installing updates or changeing any settings? if you have it set for automatic backups check to be sure everything is ok there. i wouldn't normaly suggest system restore since it messes with the registry and I'VE seen it do some damage but enymachine and user is different so you can give that a try if you can't at all recall what may have happened.  you can find by going to start-->all programs-->accessories-->system tools
but just thinking off the top of my head in the advanced menu under details you change you global settings so that it wont power off the radio in any instance (but probably wont change since you can connect using the windows config) and be sure it is powered on by press fn+f5 along with checking for the wirless switch at the front of your computer, the t41 is a lil oder than mine so it may not have. and along with those drivers that you updated try updating (not uninstalling and reinstalling) the power managment driver. i know when i install my own os it runs a lot better to install you chipset and powermanagement drivers first. (that i i sugges to update and not uninstall) and since its giving an error that  it can't power on thats what i can suggest.
p.s. under tools there should be diagnostics to where you can check to see if you enabled the error logging, if yo uhave that might provide further assistance.
p.p.s. i've looked up on a few other topics and it prob makes a difference with xp instead of vista because when selecting which tool to configure your wirless connection can cause an issue. but i mainly see this with older versions of access connecctions. so i guess i good question is if you were able to use windows to view and connect while you were using access connections?

  • Painfully slow access to admin console (how can I fix it?)

    Hi,
I'm using using Sun Java System Web Server Version 7.0U4 B12/02/2008 02:17 running on CentOS (Redhat EL) release 4.4.
The problem is that using the Admin Console (on port 8989) is painfully slow. It takes minutes for each page to load, but they do usually load.
Any ideas on how to fix that?
There are some other things going on that might be related and helpful to know:
I get certificate errors when I access the Admin Console (e..g, IE complains about a mismatched address). I've tried following the directions to install the certificate in IE7 and FF3, but neither has stopped bothering me about the certificate error.
I have the server behind a firewall which allows all outgoing traffic and select incoming ports to the server. The firewall also maps a public IP address to the server's local IP address (e..g, 10.10.10.8).
If I access the Admin Console locally via the LAN address (https://10.10.10.8:8989) it is no longer slow, but I get booted back to the login screen very frequently (e.g, every minute or two of casual browsing through the console), and I still get the certificate error
We haven't given the server a name, but access it by IP address, and the virtual server configuration in the Admin Console is name "localhost.localdomain"
Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! I've tried searching for solutions several times, but haven't succeeded.
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Thanks for the thoughts

sounds more like some network issues. are you running your browser on your centos 4.4 as well ? also, did you try to connect using your IP - some thing like https://<ip>:8989 ?
No, we're not running the browser on centos 4.4. We're runing browsers on laptops, connecting both offsite via public IP address and in the office via both the public IP address and the LAN ip address.
Yes, we're using the ip address as you demonstrated. This machine does not have a domain name attached, so we only connect via ip addresses (mapped public or LAN)

I've tried following the directions to install the certificate in IE7 and FF3, but neither has stopped bothering me about the certificate error.it is not a certificate error. web server 7 admin server uses a self signed certificate . this is necessary step. however, IE reports a warning when it sees a self signed certificate. it wants you to know that it does not understand who sent this certificate. you need to create an exception - saying that you know what you are doing then there won't be any certificate error ..Okay, I'll look for how to do that, but so far I've only found instructions for how to install the certificate in the browsers, and unfortunately, that hasn't made a difference.

sounds like some network misconfiguration - outside the scope of this forum.I cannot rule that out, but other servers/websites seem to work fine with this same setup. Although, only this server is using https

if you want to increase this time out, you could do so by manually editing <install-root>/lib/webapps/admingui/WEB-INF/web.xml and change the value for session-timeout to say 600 (for 10 minutes).. . pl . note that this is not a supported way and you could potentially leave others to use your session if you are careless. but, if you know what you are doing .Thanks I did that. It surprises me that the default timeout appears to be 1 minute.

I have a T41, running XP with 3 different profiles set-up (1 admin and 2 users).  Two days ago, Access Connections will no longer auto launch and connect to our wireless network when signing in with one of the non admin profiles.  Alternatively, if I sign in as the admin, Access Connections starts, connects to the wireless and when I switch to one of the other 2 profiles.......they are connected to our wireless network!

  • Problems in accessing an SSL enabled site through Weblogic 6.1

    Hi,
We want to connect to an SSL enabled site (https://test.SalesForce.com) through Weblogic 6.1. We are using JDK1.3.1_08 and Apache axis.
We have followed the appropriate steps explained in the URL -
    http://www.pankaj-k.net/WSOverSSL/WSOverSSL-HOWTO.html
As mentioned in the above link, we made the configurations in JDK 1.3.1_08 to put the jsse.jar and other important JARs in jre\lib\ext folder and also updated the java security file to add the proper "Provider".
After that we tried to execute the test application to connect to an SSL site specified in it. It is a stand alone Java application and connects to the site and reads the bytes of the home page and displays them on the console.
When we tried to connect the SalesForce test site, we figured out that we were able to connect to the site and were able to read entire stream of bytes.
Then we copied the same code in a sample JSP, set the JDK1.3.1_06 as the JAVA_HOME for Weblogic6.1 and tried to connect to our test site through that JSP.
We observed that it is connecting to the site but reading just a few initial bytes and not the entire stream.
When we tried the same steps with Weblogic8.1 and JDK1.4.2_X, it works fine and reads the entire page with Weblogic8.1 as client.
So, we observed that the standalone application works fine with JDK1.3.1_08, it also works fine on the the Weblogic 8.1 and JDK1.4.2_x combination, but when we use Weblogic6.1 and JDK1.3.1_08, it does not work properly.
Is there any setup issue in Weblogic 6.1 regarding connecting to a SSL enabled site?
Our actual problem scenario is a bit different than this, but we are sure that it is related to this situation and a solution to this problem can resolve the actual problem.
Another question we have is do we need to configure SSL in Weblogic 6.1 and also care for installing certificates evenif Weblogic 6.1 in this case is a mere client?
We have tried to connect to the same site using Weblogic 8.1 and JDK1.4.2_X. We did not require any kind of certicates in that case. Hence I want to clear my doubt.
    Please help.

    Hello,
Just wondering if you ever found a solution to this problem. We are suffering just about the exact same issue, where our environment with WebLogic 6.1 SP4 cannot access an SSL enabled site, but our WebLogic 8.1 SP2 upgrade environment can. The only difference we've been able to pinpoint is that our 6.1 server connects via TLS1.0 (SSL3.1) and our 8.1 server connects via SSLv3 (SSL3.0). Does anyone know how to control which version of SSL WebLogic 6.1 uses?

  • T60p & Windows 7 Pro and Bluethoot problem with Access Connections.

    Hi,
I reinstalled Windows 7 Pro (64bit) at my T60p laptop.
I use Access Connections (v. 5.97) manage my wi-fi, lan connections.
(installed with all features lan, wi-fi, modem etc.)
    So here is problem.
When I start Access Connection. Bluethoot goes ON ...
Trying disable Bluetooth via Access connectios (Power Off), but it's still going "ON" and stays "ON"...
Any good solution to keep bluethoot off without disable it at bios?
Earlier version of Access Connections keeps bluetooth OFF...
    /P

If you are not using the Bluetooth and you want to disable it, the easiest way is to disable the device in the Device Manager.
Go into the Device Manager by searching for Device Manager in the start menu, Open the Device Manager and select hardware, choose the Bluetooth device, right click, and finally choose 'disable'. If you want to use the Bluetooth device in the future you will have to return to the Device manager, right click and 'enable' the device.
I hope this information has been helpful, please let me know if you have any further questions.
Thank you for being a part of the Lenovo Family,
