Access connections doesn't recognize NIC as WPA/WPA2 capable

In WZC my Cisco 802.11b NIC is recognized as connecting to my home WPA/WPA2 network but AC does not show the options at all in the wireless configuaration options.  I have AC 5.02 installed.  The only available wireless security options in the config screen are:
 Use Static WEP keys
 Use 802.1x EAP Cisco (LEAP)
 Use 802.1x EAP Cisco (EAP-FAST)
Use Windows to Configure Wireless Network
I know AC 5.02 is capable of listing WPA options if a WPA card is recognized but in my case to the only recognition comes via WZC. I have the latest Cisco wireless driver v3.8.26.01 installed and working fine with WZC Any thoughts?

You'd need to remove a few things before swapping the card, it's under the touchpad (UltraNav).
Instructions on how to go about it, as well as the list of compatible cards (just stay away from the ones that are "b" only) are available in the HMM:

  • ITunes Connect doesn't recognize iBooks update

    Hi,
I'm trying to update an eBook (created with iBooks Author, .iba format) to the 1.2 version.
I follow all the steps correctly with iTunes Producer, it finished uploading and I hear the signal and see the window saying that everything went good.
But after that, nothing happens, iTunes Connect doesn't recognize any update so it turns out I have a book out of control.
It's very strange, as 3 weeks ago I updated another different book and I didn't have any problem.
Is there is something wrong with Apple Servers? Am I doing anything wrong?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
I've contacted Apple by phone yesterday and they told me ther was a problem when creating the EIN.
In fact, we gave them the name of our company with spaces while they wrote them without spaces.
So Apple didn't understand why it wasn't the same.
They told me it surely be good in a few days.
Just have a look at it first.
    Thanks

Imac will not connect to Airport Extreme when configured WPA/WPA2
    Posted: Jul 5, 2007 8:22 PM Reply
I just got my Imac to connect to the internet using my Airport Extreme but only by using WEP. I had my Windows XP SP2 machines connecting using WPA/WPA2 with no problem. The Imac will not connect using anything other than WEP, and 1 of the XP machines will not connect using WEP.(I have not tried the other XP machines) I had to set the Airport Extreme for an open network in order to let both computers access the shared hard drive and access the internet.
I don't know what the problem might be and would appreciate any suggestions.
MacBookPro, Imac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   Fujitsu tablet PC, 2 XP desktops

hehe...on the visuals. I figured it out already, and I have the old airport card. However, I did a chat with Apple support and while we were chatting I found a USB adapter with MAC drivers which will work. It is:
Hawking Technology HWUG1A Wireless-G USB Adapter with Removable Antenna for Macintosh
    Manufacturer Part# HWUG1A
That is the only adapter that actually does WPA/WPA2 that I can find that is for a Mac and not just an older USB that only does WEP. It surprises me that Apple does not have a USB product like this. Anyway, for $56 including shipping, I will have it by Monday or Tuesday. Pretty cool.
Thank you so much for your assistance. It is appreciated.

  • Access Connections - Use Windows Logon grayed out

I have seen multiple posts on this, but no solution. I am trying to configure acconn for PEAP, but in the user credential section, the Use Windows Logon is grayed out. I have tried reinstalling and checking off the box on the install, still no luck. Lenovo had me reload the laptop to factory, but that didnt help either.
    Suggestions?
    Ron

Ok, are you logged on the system as having Admin privileged?  If not, then you can't change the Global Settings.
I strongly suggest not deleting registry entries.  mgtitchenell mostly had it right, but instead do this:
Go into Global Options in Access Connection, uncheck it, click OK and restart, then go back in and check it, click OK and restart.
After this - the option should no longer be grayed out.
If that doesn't work, then the problem mostly likely comes from some other GINA installed on the system that Access Connections doesn't recognize.   Look back at the registry entry (HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon) and look for an entry that either has the word GINA mixed up in it, or that points to some file that end in .dll
Disk encryption software and some VPN programs put in their own DLL (or things like Novell Netware client)

  • Lenovo Access Connections Program Dead

Hi, and thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I'm running Vista Business on a T500.  I've always used the Lenovo Access Connections program to switch wifi locations.  Access Connections now doesn't appear to work.  The program opens normally but there is now (hadn't noticed it before) a location profile named "Windows Wireless Service," and when I click the "Find" button Access Connections doesn't find anything the list and graphic screen show no networks even if there are a dozen WiFi routers.
When I FnF5 the Wireless Radio window opens indicating that my Bluetooth is "on" and the 802.11 is "off."  If I click the "Power On" button nothing happens.
But my internet works normally and it's even switching WiFi locations automatically!  Somehow the machine has switched to using the Windows WiFi manager - the only thing I can think of that could have precipitated this is that I plugged into my work ethernet.  First time in about a year that I've done this and these problems with Access Connection seemed to start shortly after that (no indication at the time - Access Connections seemed to work).
If I go Control Panel > Network & Sharing > Connect to a Network I see a "find" window similar to the Access Connections list, but on this Windows program the routers are all "found."  I see in a few places that two network connection managers can't be running at the same time.  I tried turning off the service "WLAN AutoConfig" but that did not allow Access Connections to run.  Maybe I didn't shut off the right thing or maybe I didn't turn it off correctly.  Since Access Connections doesn't work I turned WLAN AutoConfig back on, but it would be nice to have Access Connections functioning.  I've looked everywhere and can't find an answer.  Any suggestions appreciated!
                                                                                  Ben

I have Access Connections working in Windows 7 and had it working in Vista before that. I use it to change between wireless connections as well.
If you want it working, try the following:
    1. Document your profiles (SSID, WEP or WPA, security key) in a small Notepad file.
    2. Download the latest copy (5.85 if I remember correctly).
    3. Uninstall Access Connections. When it asks, delete the profiles as part of the uninstall.
    4. Go to Windows Wireless Manager. Delete any left over profiles in it.
    5. Restart.
    6. Install Access Connections (use a wired connection first if you can).
    7. Now install the first wireless connection and ensure that it works.
    8. Assuming so, install the remaining wireless profiles.
    Good luck.

  • Access Connections / WLAN / Win7 x64 / 5300 AGN / connection loss

    Hi there,
I'm experiencing some Problems with Access Connections. Most of the time I'm using my T500 with a dockin station and a wired network. No problems so far. But when i undock it and start using WLAN its only a matter of time until it looses Connection. Something about 5mins. Access Connections states its connected and the signal strength is perfect, but the small Network manager Icon from Windows says its not. And in fact, i can't ping the access point or my gateway. ipconfig shows the correct ip configuration, but there is no connection any more (access connection still claims to have a perfect connection).
When I disconnect via Access Connections and try to reconnect it fails. Not completely but obtaining a new IP from the DHCP-Server fails. So my Nic is configureg with 169.x..x.x (aka crap)
Restarting AcPrfMgrSvc and AcSvc did the trick for about 5min, then I had the same problem again.
Looks like Access Connections and Windows aren't "best friends".
The 5min problem seems to be caused  by some power saving function, but I don't want to disable them.
Win7 x64 is a fresh installation ( btw. to get all the needed drivers is a nightmare!)
Anybody knows this problem? Any fix from lenovo?
    Would be nice!
    Kind regards

Yes basically you have to disallow Windows to turn off the device automatically.
Because Access Connection doesn't replace Network and sharing center but works in addition with it, there is some settings have to be modified in windows.
If not allowing windows to turn off the device is not enough to solve your problem, you can gon in access connections>tools>global settings and untick allow the wireless LAN radio to be turned off when inactive.
With your comparision with an hybrid car, if your not allowed to switch to save fuel and you can't fix it you have to choices don't use it or use fuel.

  • T42 Showing Incorrect Adapter Name in Access Connections

I am working on a T42 laptop and installed Access Connections 5.12.  I have gone through and did all the prerequisites prior to installation of Access Connections (wireless driver update, UltraNav Driver upgrade, Video Upgrade, BIOS upgrade, LAN driver update, etc).  I have created a profile for a wireless network that is in range and operational.  My problem is the adapter is showing incorrectly within Access Connections.  This wireless adapter is identified correctly in device manager as "11b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter".  But in Access Connections, it is showing as "Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN".  I am needing this to identify the correct adapter to get Access Connections to work.  Any ideas?

    Hi jeremieolson,
Unless you need to use Access Connections to switch among multiple *wired* networks, I'd suggest simply un-installing Access Connections and using the built-in Windows tools for establishing your wireless connection. Windows will let you establish wireless profiles just like Access Connections does. AFAIK Access Connections doesn't add anything to the built-in Windows wireless networking, and in your case it's misbehaving, so...

  • X201 Access Connections doesn't recognize WiFi card

    Hi
A week or so ago I ran Lenovo System Update, which prompted me to update the drivers for my WiFi card (Intel 6200-AGN). After the update Access Connections can no longer recognize the card. Windows still connects automatically to wireless networks through the built-in software, but Access Connections not working is really bothering me.
I've tried rolling back the wireless drivers (my current version is now 14.3.0.6, dated 10/27 2011), but with no luck. As far as I can see, there have been no updates to Access Connections for quite a while (it's hard to tell due to system update itself recently being updated), but is it worth a try uninstalling it and reinstalling an older version? My current version is 5.97, oddly the version listed on the support page for the x201-3626 is 5.62, but all my Lenovo software comes from Lenovo System Update.
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

  • Access Connections fails to recognize DNS server for wired Ethernet connections

I'm running Windows 7 on a Thinkpad T410i.  I ran the Lenovo update yesterday which updated Access Connections from 6.01 to 6.21.  I then could not make any network connections to the Internet.  I used Windows System Restore to back out the changes made by the Lenovo updater.
Since then, I am able to connect to the Internet using the wireless adapter, but the wired LAN connection fails to connect to the Internet because it doesn't recognize the DNS servers  The wired LAN adapter is the Intel 82577LM Gigabit Network Connection.  The IP v4 configuration settings haven't changed (use DHCP, obtain IP and DNS addresses automatically), but it can't seem to connect to the DNS servers.
The message from Windows Network Diagnostics is:
Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding.
The symptoms appear the same as in this problem in the Lenovo support library, but that was occuring with Access Connections 2.60, a much earlier version of the software:
Network connection is not working if Access Connection is used to set DNS information - ThinkPad General
    Symptom
When a wired (Ethernet or Token Ring), network profile is created with Access Connections v2.60, the user may be unable to connect to a LAN or the Internet.
    Affected configurations
Any model ThinkPad system using Access Connections v2.60
Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks!

    HELP HELP

To confirm, your existing mail client isn't communicating with your existing and remote mail services at Dreamhost? Which mail client are you using (Apple mail?), and how is mail on the client set up?
It would initially seem that your client is still referencing the server, either for its inbound or outbound mail. (And I'm not sure how unplugging the server helps here, unless there's some sort of a configuration issue, or a duplicate network address or such.) This would usually be something within the configuration of the mail client.
The Mac OS X Server is significantly easier than the many other servers and server operating systems I've dealt with over the years, but it requires reading the manuals and/or some knowledge of networking and of server environments.
Small shops and home folks without the time or inclination to "spin up" on these server areas can be well-served with some help initially configuring the server. Servers are different from clients. Stuff that you're implicitly used to using when you're running a client -- the DHCP server, for instance -- are what the servers provide you with.
As for Mac OS X Server and particularly if you head outside of the default settings and sequences and off into the customizations, which is what has happened here, you might want to engage some assistance. Not just for the direct and obvious initial set-up sequence, but also for getting you set-up and started with backups and other such tasks. Before you get too deep in here and get too much underway and too much saved on your disks, do seriously consider getting somebody in to help set this box up for you.
Mac OS X Server is not "no IT", but it is rather closer to "less IT" than most. Particularly once you get it configured and running.

  • I have a Mac Mini, and it won't accept connecting my Sony video camera.  So I got a SD mem card reader to unload my movies from.  It worked the first time I used it a few months ago.  This time it says it doesn't recognize the format I am trying to use?

I have all thenecessary updates.  I have switched over from a PC to Mac back in April and have nad nothing but problems adapting.  I don't know why this worked the first time, and put my videos inti imovie, and now it doesn't recognize it at all.  And the Mem card reader does work, because I just put the SD card from my regular camera into it and it downloaded those fine, it just won't take my movies!

Which sony camera? I have a Sony HDR-CX550 right now and have been able to use the SD card as well as connect the camera directly. I also had CX110 that work too. You may want to try to copy the complete top level folder from the SD card to the Hard drive, then try to "import from Camera archive" and select that folder.

  • I can't connect my camera to my Mac tower - final cut doesn't recognize the connection.

I have a Canon AH X1 video camera which uses the older 6 pin firewire - I have a 6 pin to 9 pin adapter, but when I connect the camera and go to Capture and Log, it doesn't recognize the camera is connected.  Even when I click NOW, it does nothing.  My camera output settings have been set by the manual for this type of connection, HD and downgrade OFF, or something like that (don't have the camera in front of me this moment).  Any ideas?
    Thank you!

    Thanks for the quick response!  I have a smokin' Mac Tower - 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core, 10GB RAM, Mac OS 10.6.7.
I am running 6 pin firewire using a 9 pin adapter.  I have one internal hard drive - 999GB, formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) - 914G are free.
Camera Settings - Playback STD - Comp out 1080i/480i
    HD Down Conversion - OFF
When I start up Final Cut Pro, it says
External A/V Unable to locate the following external devices:
    Apple FireWire NTSC (720 x 480)
Your system configuration may have changed, or your deck/camera may be disconnected or turned off.
Please check your connections and click "Check Again" , or click "Continue" to set external device detection to None.
Then, when I go to Log and Capture, I get:
Unable to initialize video deck.  You may still log offline clips or use Capture Now.
Beneath that, "Initializing Device Control..." stays up and frozen.
THEN, if I click OK and Capture NOW, I get a quick flash of a screen that disappears, and nothing happens.
    Thanks in advance...
