Access denied creating new folders/files as administrator, UAC disabled
I'm having some issues with a 2008 R2 server. It's a standalone server used for file storage only, no domains no AD or policies have been applied to it.
I have recently been getting access denied errors trying to create new files or folders on the data drive. I'm logged in as local administrator and have full access to everything.
I've spent the last 3 days searching for a solution but so far have not found one. Solutions so far have almost always suggested turning off UAC and resetting permissions on the affected files and folders but that has not solved the issue, UAC was already
disabled and I've tried creating a new user group and adding the admin account to it, I've also removed all inherited permissions and manually specified all users and groups and 'everyone' as full access to no avail.
This did happen once before in the past with one network share and I can't remember what I did back then to solve it but somehow I did, but now all files and folders are having the issue on all network shares and drives (the server has 8 hard drives installed).
I can move and rename files and folders fine without problems but I cannot create any new folders or files of any kind without getting access denied, I'm really stumped at this one and hoping someone here will be able to suggest a fix that I haven't already
tried.
I have scoured the event logs but there's no sign of the issue there either.
Any help appreciated.

Did you access the network drive from a workstation? If so, what is the system operation on the workstation? Please give everyone group “full control” share permission to check the results. You could try to create a new shared folder and give local administrator
“full control” ntfs permissions and share permissions to check if the issue still exists.

I'd like to know How to prevent users from creating new folders in share folder directory but still keep their power of creating new folders in their personal 'my folder'?
I tried changing the 'manage privilage ---- create folder' to deny certain user accounts, but by doing so, it also stops the user from creating new folders in their 'my folder', which is not good..
I also tried going into these share folders and tried different access types such as 'change/delete', 'read', 'traverse folder' etc, but none of it work ideally. The 'change/delete' access still allows them to create new folders, 'read' access prevents creating new folders but also take away their power of saving reports..
Any thoughts on how to take away their ability to ONLY create new folders in share folder areas without affecting their other privileges?

Thank youEasy, on the shared folders root folder only give them 'read' or 'traverse folder' but on the the folder inside the shared folders root folder give them 'change/delete'. That means they can change anything inside those folders but not create any folders at the shared folders root level.

When I run my app locally through the Web Server that comes with ASP.Net, everything is fine, it is only when I deploy the application to the Windows 2003 Server that I get the error.
I'm using impersonation in my ASP.Net application. I have given that domain user full access to 'C:\Windows\Temp'', the export folder and even the folder where the Crystal Report resides on the Server. When I run the application on the Web Server, I actually see the ".rpt" get created in the "C:\Windows\Temp" folder but yet it still says there is a permissions error.
What is bizarre is that the code below that just sends the file to the printer automatically works:

As a last ditch effort, I granted "modify" to the Network Service Account on C:\Windows\Temp and that fixed the error.
There are two things that are troubling about this:
1) I'm impersonating a domain user in my ASP.Net application and when the PDF is created, the owner is that domain user, so I know impersonation is working. So I wonder if ASP.Net picks and chooses what account it runs under at different times?
2) It is a little scary for the Network Service Account to have this access but that people seem to be fine with it.

How to create new folders on iCloud Drive from iOS or with document picker?
Recently I wanted to share several files from my iWorks suite with my colleagues. I do not want them to edit these files, instead I made templates in Numbers for easier management of hours worked. Everyone could download their copy and keep a track of their hours themselves. The problem is, not everyone has an Apple product.
Unfortunately, iOS does not support native browsing of iCloud Drive (except the document picker, which, to me, isn't helpful at all), the only way I know of - to create a new folder - is to open iCloud.com in Safari, request the desktop site and make a new folder from there.
Is there another way of creating new folders, preferably an official app from Apple or from within an iWorks app or the document picker that I do not know of? Or is this actually a missing feature?
Also, if Apple could make an app similar to Microsoft OneDrive, that would be great.Yes, there is a way. Here is the workaround. You can add notes folders directly with your iPad or iPhone.

I'm using Windows 7 Home premium on an HP Pavilion laptop. Maybe two weeks ago, I stopped being able to create new folders in the Windows Explorer box; I click the "New Folder" button, and nothing happens: no error message, nothing. Around two weeks ago, I also reinstalled Firefox to get rid of some adware virus (success: the adware is gone!). I do not recall the exact timing on when I did the reinstall and when I stopped being able to create new folders, but I'm wondering if the folder problem could be related to the re-install. And if so, what can I do about it?

One day, just randomly my laptop stopped letting me create new folders. when i right click and go to "new" the option is simply not there, and when i open windows explorer and click new folder, nothing happens. I have to copy a folder, delete its contents, and rename it every time i wish to create a new folder. I have made no major changes to my computer; the only things I have done is download music from itunes, and a few new video games. I cannot find anywhere that it could be.
Also, I might add I use Comodo firewall, wich not only blocks things from acessing the internet, but from files acessing other files, registry, etc. I didn't know if this could be affecting it. When i instal something new I have to allow it anywhere from 3-8 times for each different thing. I've had it for a few weeks now, and noticed no problem with my laptop because of it other than constantly having it allow things when i first open them.
I have tried system recovery and ran a virus scan with avast and registry mechanic, and none of these have fixed it. The only thing i found online was a guy telling me ot download his program and install it to my registry (however, i did not trust this, because i could not find information of the name of the file he told me to install anywhere else, so i figured it would do more harm than good)Satellite A665-S5170
I'll assume you're talking about Windows Explorer. If the problem is elsewhere, it's a different story.
The problem just started today.
With a little luck, a System Restore will fix that registry problem.
What is System Restore?
Otherwise, open the Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and navigate to this key.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\New
In the right pane, look at the data for the value (Default). It should be this.

I'm working a lot with UTF-8 text files and mainly in this format. It's becoming annoying when I have to manually save every text file as UTF-8. After several trial-and-errors, I've made up a procedure that I've put in a blog. I think I could share

TEXT file's default encoding.
Well, of course, if you have access to Notepad source code and you're able to change it and re-compile again, then you could really say you change Notepad's "default encoding", which I suppose would mean "default encoding every time we save".

"Notepad" document? Come on! That's apparently how a newbie think what it is and it's very likely he has not a clue what it is and what he is doing. And what if I don't use Notepad to create such file? If I
use UltraEdit, then mine should be "UltraEdit" document and that should be different from Notepad document, correct? LOL
The fact that you're able to find this video would also mean you're thinking like him in that the file is really called Notepad document LOL
For your information, that's called a text file (or document if you prefer this prettier term). It's also called plain text file.
Now, let's see the content of both links:
First of all, why did they tell people to create a new text file somewhere and then
COPY it to template folder? That's really so dumb
LOL Isn't it more intelligent to create such file directly INSIDE the folder?
Secondly, their procedures are not foolproof. What if the Windows directory is not c:\windows? They should tell people to open %Systemroot%\ShellNew instead. I suppose they don't even know how this folder is called because
nowhere is the term "template folder" ever mentioned.
Thirdly, what if that folder doesn't work for unknown reason (which might happen in XP)? Did they give any hint to a "failover" folder? No, they didn't. But I do in my procedure.
Fourthly, they are saying as if the file name has to be "TXTUTF-8.txt", but actually we can call it whatever we like. But smart people would have figured this out at the end.
5 (I'd stop saying fifthly and so on LOL) I'm not sure it's necessary (or recommended) to change "fSavePageSettings" & "fSaveWindowPositions" DWORD values for Notepad as "advised" in that answer.
As a side-note, I don't know what

Cannot create new folders in Outlook
I just bought a new PC computer. I installed MSFT Office Professional Plus 2010. I opened Outlook and added in (i) the pst folder I had set up from my previous Vista
computer (also with Outlook 2010), (ii) my hotmail account, (iii) my at&t/yahoo account and (iv) my gmail account. I cannot create new folders in any of them.
When I right click anywhere in the navigation pane and select "New Folder..." I get the following error message:
"Outlook cannot read the registry information.
-Close and restart Outlook.
-Reinstall Outlook
-Reinstall Microsoft Exchange or other e-mail system."
I tried all three, including removing and reinstalling Office and removing all of the email accounts/pst files and re-adding and still have the problem.
If I try to right-click properties on any of the accounts, I get the same error message, with the following additional language first:
"Cannot display 'General' page. This page will remain visible, but is not available."
Not sure what is left to try.

Creating new folders/playlists
are you supposed to be able to create new folders to move your music into? if yes, how do i go about it?
Folders are something you can use in iTunes to manage playlists. Folders are not supported on the iPod so any you have in iTunes don't transfer over. You can add a folder by going to File>Add Folder then drag the playlists into it. You don't drag individual tracks to a folder you use playlists for that:

How do I create a new, second, domain file in iWeb?
Is there a way to do it without duplicating an existing domain file?Quit iWeb and drag your domain file(s) into the trash.
Relaunch iWeb and it will be forced to create a new blank domain file.
Create new folders - one for each file, drag your old one out of the trash into one of them.
Open any site by double clicking the appropriate domain file.
Duplicate your blank and put it in another folder so that, in future, you have a "clean" domain file to duplicate and start new sites.
This is the only sensible way to start new sites as the "accepted" method of duplicating an existing one and deleting the pages is probably going to cause you problems with domain file corruption somewhere down the line.

CVS update "Create New Folders" unavailable
Summary:
The Create New Folders checkbox in the Update from CVS options selection window is always inactive. I am using JDeveloper 10g v9.0.5.0.0.1375 Preview with "CVS Client Version: (CVSNT) 2.0.11 (client/server)".
Detail:
After having checked out a module from CVS and working with it for a few hours, I decide that I want to get the latest files and versions from the repository. So I right click on the project, go to Versioning, then click on Update. In order to get the latest directory structure (including any new files contained therein) from CVS I need to check the "Create New Folders" checkbox. Unfortunately this checkbox is perpetually inactive (grayed out). I can't figure out how to activate it.
Any suggestions? Right now, as a work around, I rename the working directory, do another module checkout, then move any of my changes from the previous working directory to the new one. This is obviously very cumbersome so I really need some way to perform a 'cvs update -d' on the working directory.Hi,

Creating new folders on my Nokia Lumia 620
1) On my Windows 7 pc I can easily create new folders at any time and then copy any webpage to any folder (via going into the Favorites tab). How can I do this with my Nokia Lumia 620?
2) If this is not possible, is it not possible to do so on a Windows 8 pc either?

How does one create new folders under the inbox for organizing purposes? I was expecting to be able to create a "new folder" within any other folder, but all I can find is smart folders, and some other strange option which results in this new folder under the heading "On My Mac"...strange...what's this "On My Mac" all about? Why can't I just create a new folder under my inbox, and organize the way I see fit? This is really odd..You can accomplish this by creating a new mailbox ( *plus sign* in the bottom left corner of the main window). I think this should say folder, but I didn't make this choice. It acts like a folder. Just click and drag emails from your inbox to these other mailboxes you created. The "On My Mac" just refers to where the emails get stored (/Users/yourshortname/Library/Mail)

Edit: the funny thing is the icon for the new mailboxes is a folder, go figure.

Hi, I have two XY graphs on the front panel and would like to maintain a common plot legend such that any change in the plot legend affects both graphs. Objective: I would like any value change in plot legend to fire an event. How do I program that?
