Access denied/permissions

Im unable to save/get/put a file in dreamweaver cs6.  I have explicit rights to all the files however unable to save/get/ or put files...I get an access denied error.  What would be causing this?  I have checked all my site settings and they are setup as needed.  NEED HELP...I must be able to use this software to do my job and keep out intranet updated.

Hi.
I have tried a lot of different things.  I can add/change/delete files through windows explorer no problem…through DW I get file access denied when I try to save get or put.
All my permissions have been checked and I have explicit rights as well and I am running DW as an administrator.
Do I need to have file checkin/check out on or off?

  • Regedit Permissions -"Access Denied" or "Error while deleting key" EVEN AS ADMIN!

    Anyone tried deleting a registry key in Windows 7?  Got "access denied" or "Error while deleting key"?
    The usual response is, "You need to run regedit as an administrator".  but I *AM* logged in as Administrator, and running regedit as administrator, trying to assign administrator full permissions on that registry key in order to delete it!!
    Am I mistaken, or isn't Administrator supposed to be able to administer and control all the settings on the computer, in order to set it up for the "Average Joe" user?
    So, under the permissions menu of that key, go to advanced, change the owner from System to Administrator, and try again.  It's no longer saying "access denied", but "Cannot delete xxxxxx. Error while deleting key".
    The scenario: Basically, the wireless has stopped working on a laptop. The device does not show up in Device Manager, but is in the registry, so the normal procedure is to delete the registry entry for the device in HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet (and /ControlSet001) /Enum/PCI    ,then attach the device or restart the computer, it finds the "new" hardware and reinstalls it. Easy!...
    Not with permission restrictions on the administrator account it's not!  So I need to give myself permission, to give myself permission, to do a simple task like delete a single registry key!  Why, Microsoft, why???!!!  Please just make the Administrator account a hidden "God mode" account that can do anything, and make the lives of us techies much easier in the process!
    /RANT
    Now, where did I put that XP disc?!....

    Hi,
    I explain you:
    Administrator does not mean "you get all rights to do anything." Administrator happens to be an account (or in your case, most likely the Local Administrators group) which by default is given some sensitive privileges like SeDebugPrivilege and
    similar. However, as far as the security subsystem is concerned, it is just an account. (Very much unlike root in
    Unix-like operating systems) If you aren't the owner of the key in question, and your account does not have WRITE_DAC access
    to the registry key in question, then you won't be able to change the access control list on the key in question.
    Try taking ownership first. By default, the local administrators group has SeTakeOwnershipPrivilege,
    which allows taking ownership of any object even without the WRITE_OWNER permission
    being granted by the object's discretionary access control list. Once you are the owner, you should be implicitly granted READ_CONTROL (which
    allows you to read the security descriptor on the object in question), and WRITE_DAC (which
    allows you to write to the DACL on the key in question). (Assuming the OWNER_RIGHTS SID
    isn't in use; that's extremely unlikely)

    Can anyone suggest what could be the problem?

    Hi Shankar,
    The error "New-MsolUser : Access Denied. You do not have permissions to call this cmdlet" when trying to use the cmdlet indicates you might have to check if you have the appropriate admin role.

  • Clients can't save to the server, access denied no permissions, how to give permission?

    I set up my school lab with an xserv 10.6.8. Everything was fine in terms of the users logging in to their respective groups. However, they weren't able to save anything to the server , they had access denied errors or you don't have permissions, even the keychain app was giving the users an error that said it couldn't save  to reset to default values. Anyhow, I tried using the Server Admin application to propagate permissions, selected the hard drives and propagated permissions by clicking all the selections in the dialog. Now, the server wont start and only shows the grey Apple and the spinning gear, please help, I am so frustrated, I was so close to have this server running. All I want is to be able to have the students in my school log in to the server from the computer lab and save their work on the server. Simple service, I have running AFP, OD, DNS and SMB. I don't knowe if SMB is neccesary either.

    Yes, I created the users using WGM home tab and then clicking on the create home now and then save. No, I didn't use terminal with the command, maybe that's one of the things I needed to do so that the problems with permissions wouldn't show. I used the secondary HD to create the sharepoint folder "Users" and that's the folder I used when creating the home directory for that specific part of the setup. My setup is pretty simple, I just want a Groups folder(sharepoint) where I can store the diffrent grades or classes that come to my lab and I have a "Users" folder(sharepoint) where the kids can use to login and save their work. Later, I may add another folder to place videos so that the folder can mount when they log in and all they have to do is go to the folder and double click on the video. Can you ellaborate more on how to use the command with terminal? Would the "a" be the name of the sharepoint? I created the folders using Server Admin, I believe that clicking on the sharepoint button, there is another button that says "new", would that be the correct way to do it? When I get back to school tomorrw I will post more specifics on the way that I setup the server and maybe it will give you a better picture of how I did it.
    I really appreciate your assistance, I am trying to use the limited knowledge I have to setup this lab which will enable me to do a lot of things with the kids and make their lives easier, so they don't have to bring flash drives to save their work. Thanks again for your time!

  • Create Set with Access Denied with filter permissons correct

    I am standing up a FIM lab and need to create a set. I'm logged in as an administrator and the attribute I want to use in the SET's filter is "HR Effective Status." I give the set a name, create the filter with the HR Effective
    Status attribute and view the members with no problems. However, when I click the submit button, I get an access denied error (see screen shot). Prior to creating the set, I had added this HR Effective Status attribute to both the Filter permission objects
    (Administration-->All Resources-->Filter Permission), but this does not seem to be the problem. Both MPRs that are kicked off seem to be set properly too. Any ideas on what the problem might be?
    Thank you in advance for any help!

    Just checking some things that people sometimes forget:
    since you created your new attribute/binding, have you restarted the FIMService and performed an IISRESET on the FIM web server?
    have you checked the FIM event log (Event Viewer/Applications and Services Logs) for a more detailed error when you get the general "Denied" exception when saving your query-based set?
    if the FIM database has been used for a while, chances are you will need to reindex some things - you may just be getting timeouts.

  • EFS: Access denied even with appropriate certificate and permissions

    I have imported the certificate from the server computer to the workstation computer several days ago. So far, every morning the workstation computer is unable to access the server encrypted file for a period of about 1 hour (saying "Unable to open
    this file. Access denied"). All the folders can be opened, moved and renamed. After persistently attempting to access it and after verifying the thumbprints match between file and certificate it is able to open the file.
    There seems to be a delay between logging in to the workstation computer and the effectiveness of the certificate.
    I am new to EFS and would love any help you can give me.

    Hi,
    Did this issue just occur on these EFS file or all file in the server? What's the result when you attempt to access the other file which is not encrypted.

  • SharePoint 2010 - Claims Based Authentication - Access Denied for AD Group members

    We're in the process of migrating our SharePoint 2003 system to 2010 and have used Metavis to migrate the data. We had to do the data migration in a lab environment and then move/attach the content database to our production server. The database attached successfully
    and I, as a site collection administrator, can see all sites and the data therein. We are using claims-based auth with ADFS 2.0 as the provider.
    My users, however, get access denied trying to go anywhere on the site. I have added the Active Directory groups to the appropriate SharePoint groups and have confirmed the groups are appearing with the c:0-.t|adfs|group_name syntax. If I add them as individual
    users (i:05.t|adfs|[email protected]) they can authenticate fine, but not by AD group membership.
    I enabled ADFS tracing and I see that the claim being provided includes the SIDs for all the groups the user belongs to. Using ULS Viewer I can see that SharePoint sees the correct number of claims (it doesn't show what those claims are, just the number) but
    it doesn't seem to be connecting the SIDs passed to the group name used in the permissions list. I have also updated the portalsuperreader and portalsuperuser accounts after the database was moved, just in case there was something weird there.
    The ADFS and SharePoint servers are all in the same AD domain, so they should be able to resolve SIDs ok. I suspect the issue is somehow related to the migration of the content database from a separate
    environment (different domain), but I can't figure out for the life of me how to get the group authentication to work.
    Thoughts?

    Brilliant idea. Unfortunately that didn't work - I can get to the new site as the site collection owner, but members of groups to which I assigned permissions still get Access Denied. :-(

  • Root cause of error " Access denied. You do not have permission to perform this action or access this resource" - workflow - SharePoint 2013

    Good evening, technet community
    I hope you are doing well.
    When configuring my SharePoint workflow, I encounter the problem below:
    Problem Description:
    Let's say my domain is: test.com, my group user is: test\group , my user is: test\user1
    Except an admin account with full control at both "Web Application" and "Site Collection", all others account all have problem when creating a list item. After creating a list item, the workflow status is "cancelled" immediately
    with the following message:

    - The workflow is still fail even I assign "full control" to my users group "test\group" – at Site Collection level.
    Surprisingly, I have successfully found a solution for this error message. However, I still have some points that I do not clearly understand. Let's start with my solution first.
    Solution:
    *** i. Assign permission policy at Web Application level – Central Admin site ***
    1. Central Administration ==> Application management
    ==> Manage Web application
    2. Go to "permission policy", then create a new permission level. This permission level contains all "edit item" permission.
    3. Select "user policy", then I assign it directly to my user account: test\user1.
    *** ii. Assign "edit item" permission at Site Collection level ***
    1. Site Setting ==> Site permission
    2. Assign "Edit" permission to my test\group.
    (Actually I removed all permissions of my user group at Site Collection level. It seem my group has inherited permission from Web Application level, is that correct? )
    *** iii. Create a new list item and workflow runs ……. ***
    ==> My question is:
    1. Why I cannot assign permission to my users group - "test\group" -
     at "Web Application" level? Instead I have to assign permission policy for each users, one by one?
    2. Could you please let me know how to collect full detail error message of workflow status?
    Thank you very much! Have a nice weekend.

    Thank you for your very detail response.
    Point 1: Yes my 2 service: user profile & profile sync service are running. I performed "full synchronization" as well. Actually i've tried 3 another action plans before coming up with the solution i posted:
    *** Actions completed ***
    1. Activate the feature: workflow can use app permissions.
    Site actions > Site Settings > Site features >activate the feature below:
     Workflows can use app permissions
    2.
    Refresh trusted security token services metadata feed
    Get-SPTimerJob
    "RefreshMetadataFeed"
    | Start-SPTimerJob
    - then restart the machine.
    3. Start full user profile synchronization.
    Point 2:
    - Yes my user had Edit permission at workflow task list + list affected by workflow.
    I have just remove all permissions of my user at "Site Collection" level. However, when i show my user permissions at my workflow task list and my users still have "Edit" Permission ( assigned at Web Application level. These permissions
    still exist even after my workflow task list stop inheriting permission).
    ==> the problems probably belongs to "permission" at "Site Collection level". It seems "permission level at my Site Collection does not work". All users accounts are also suffer from the same issues except farm admin account
    ( which has full control at Web Application level).
    I would appreciate if your guys can guide me how to make "permission" at my "Site Collection level" work again?
    Thank you very much.

  • There was an error opening this document. Access denied.

    Greetings,
    When I did my taxes last year (March 2012), I downloaded some pdf files from the IRS.  Form 1040 was a writable file and I filled it out as needed.  This file was saved on a Vista machine running XP.  A few months ago, I upgraded that pc to be Windows 7 SP1.
    Today I'm getting ready to do my taxes for this year.  When I double click on last year's Form1040.pdf, I get the following error message:
    There was an error opening this document.  Access denied.
    Interestingly, I can open other pdf files, like the Form 1040 Instructions.  I do not think that I password protected my Form1040.pdf.  The reason that I think it isn't password protected is because I'm not being prompted to enter a password.
    I copied the file to an old spare XP machine (XP Home, version 2002, SP3) that I have and it opened fine.  It did not prompt for a password.  I printed copies of last year's forms from that XP machine, so this isn't an emergency for me, but it is mildly annoying that I can't figure out what's wrong.
    I have Adobe Reader XI version 11.0.2 installed on both machines (the Windows 7 machine and the old XP machine).
    To summarize, it was created on Vista, I can't open it with Windows 7, but I can open it with XP.
    Normally I would consider uploading the file in question, but in this case, I hope you'll agree that might be a bad idea!
    Advice on how to get this to work on Windows 7 would be appreciated.

    Pat Willener:  Thanks!  That solved the problem.
    For anyone else having this problem, here's a detailed list of how I used Pat's advice to solve my problem:
    1.  Right click on the problematic file
    2.  Select Properties
    3.  Select the Security tab
    4.  Press continue
    5.  In the "Permissions for MyFile.pdf" dialog, press "Add".
    6.  In the "Select Users or Groups" dialog, press "Advanced".
    7.  The next dialog that pops up is also named "Select Users or Groups".  Press "Find Now".
    8.  Scroll down the list of search results until you find your username.
    9.  Double click on your username.
    10. Press ok in the "Select Users or Groups" dialog.
    11.  Press ok in the "Permissions for MyFile.pdf" dialog
    12. Press ok in the Properties dialog.
    done.

  • Unable to Open Project Site Access Denied Issue (Project Manager)

    Hi
    We got an issue that one project manager is having 12 projects, in that she can able to view 5 projects-- project sites but remaining 7 projects --- she is not able to open the project site (access denied) error is throwing when she try to open.
    She is the project manager of the 12 projects and having project manager permissions on the project sites.
    Please suggest any solution for this.
    Geeth If you feel that the answer which i gave you is Helpful please select it as Answer/helpful.

    I believe I've found the fix for this issue.  After opening a ticket with MS support and not getting anywhere with this issue I decided to do an in-depth review of all the Project and SharePoint 2013 CU's starting with December 2013 to September 2014.
    To my amazement buried inside the July 2014 CU was a hotfix for this issue described almost word for word. (I will list all the relevant KB's at the end)  I contacted my support engineer inquiring about this hotfix and he stated it wasn't relevant because
    the "Synchronize Project Web App permissions to Project Site" was not failing or even generating any warnings in our Prod or Test environments.  I stated that is not always an indicator as ULS doesn't always catch all relevant errors.
    I informed him that I also found a second hotfix pertaining to the same issue released August 2014, apparently the first hotfix in July didn't totally resolve the issue and a second hotfix was released.  He was adamant that this would not resolve
    our issue and he requested or production databases because he was unable to replicate the issue in his test environment.  The reason, you may wonder, is because he was at a higher patch level that our farm.... Obviously!  His farm had the most current
    CU which included the hotfixes from July and August.  Apparently he didn't see the flaw in his logic.
    I decided to install the September CU on our test farm. Low and behold that fixed the problem, even though MS support stated the hotfix was not relevant to our issue.  I learned a long time ago to take MS support comments as suggestions instead
    of gospel truth, this isn't the first time they have confidently given me erroneous information.
    We are currently doing further testing to verify that this CU didn't break something else.  Unfortunately these rollups are not GA and Microsoft is very clear that you should only install them if the hotfixes pertain directly to your issue.
    Finding the hotfixes was a chore as Microsoft loves to create multiple KB's for the same thing and then nest (bury) them so you have to dig through four or five KB's to find the relevant fix.  I'll save you the trouble and list them below.

  • Error 5: Access Denied can not start the DHCP Client service on Local Computer.

    Ran into this error problem with both the DHCP and BFE service. Neither will start and both give me the same error code 5 access denied.
    Found this little nugget below:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dhcp
    Right click and choose Permissions. There should be the following:
    System = Full Control
    Local Service = Read
    Network Service = Read
    Local Admin = Full Control
    Local Users = Read
    Dhcp = Read with special permissions
    No problem adding the missing Local Service and Network Service. How does one add Dhcp? Is there a way to create this because under permissions there is no way to add this or search it up. Is there a NetSH reset command that will add this in for me?
    The Netlogon service was not running and to get the Netlogon service going I ran NetSH int ip reset and it started to work. The other services were not running either and I was hoping they would after resetting IP
    Any ideas on to fix this problem? Also, the user turned off the laptop when it was doing updates. Still I do not think it would have created this headache.

  • ".. access denied: ... jnlp read" error in applet with NO .jnlp file!

    I'm trying to embed a Java program called ImageJA [http://pacific.mpi-cbg.de/wiki/index.php/ImageJA] into a webpage. I'm using ASP.NET with XHTML 1.0. Since I'm embedding it as an object in the html code, it should not cause any issues from that end. Unforunately, when I try I get an error saying "java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.util.PropertyPermission jnlp read)". The weird thing is, there is no jnlp file anywhere (including the .jar and codebase).
    I'm able to run it successfully if I change the permissions in my java.policy file, but that solution only works for my local machine.
    The .jar file (the only one) has been signed (I believe). I followed the steps as suggested [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17476_01/javase/1.4.2/docs/guide/plugin/developer_guide/rsa_signing.html], with the exception of contacting VeriSign/Thawte (I wish to have this be self signed).

  • Access Denied to report file on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise

    Hi,
    I have a deployment problem for which I am out of ideas. I have an ASP.NET web site deployed on a server running Windows Server 2003 R2, sp2.  It makes extensive use of Crystal Reports, including both displaying them and e-mailing them to specified recipients as PDF files. It all works great.
    Now I need to port the web site to a different server, running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise, sp1. The reports display fine as long as I am not trying to convert it to PDF for e-mailng. When it gets to the following line in my code:
    MemoryStream memStream = (MemoryStream)rptDoc.ExportToStream(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat);
    It reports the following error:
    Access denied.Error in File JobDetails {DC64A5D3-9DD7-4E4C-90F5-A08731409B29}.rpt:
    Access to report file denied. Another program may be using it.
    I finally got it to work by granting Modify permission to Everyone for the c:\Windows\Temp folder. Obviously this is not a good practice.  Granting Full Control  to the IUSR_servername account did not solve the problem on Windows Server Enterprise, although it did the trick on R2.
    So the question is, which account needs which permission to the Temp folder to enable the PDF to get written?
    Thanks.
    Dan

    What ever account the app is running under will need read / write permissions on the temp folder. Your working server should be a good place to look to see how the premissions were set there. The same will apply to any other server(?).

    Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain  by mail messaging microsoft

    It is affecting all users.
    I have scoured the net and tried many solutions.  I have disabled both the anti-spam software and Symantec.
    I am at a loss.  I am willing to try a reconfigure that doesn't require an outside relay or try and fix this issue but the system has been down for the organization for too long.

  • Access denied. Error in File C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\

    I have searched on Google and all over this forum and none of the solutions have fixed my problem.
    Crystal Version: Crsytal.Net for Visual Studio.Net 2005
    Server: Windows Server 2003
    Error:
    Access denied. Error in File C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\JuryDutyReport {D6296178-3E72-483E-B876-2DFC03D00841}.rpt: Access to report file denied. Another program may be using it.
    When I run my app locally through the Web Server that comes with ASP.Net, everything is fine, it is only when I deploy the application to the Windows 2003 Server that I get the error.
    I'm using impersonation in my ASP.Net application.  I have given that domain user full access to 'C:\Windows\Temp'', the export folder and even the folder where the Crystal Report resides on the Server.  When I run the application on the Web Server, I actually see the ".rpt" get created in the "C:\Windows\Temp" folder but yet it still says there is a permissions error.
    What is bizarre is that the code below that just sends the file to the printer automatically works:
      private void PrintJuryDutyReport(DataSet ds)
            //create report document
            ReportDocument crDoc = new ReportDocument();
            //load, set datasource and print options
            crDoc.Load(Server.MapPath("~/Reports/JuryDutyReport.rpt"));
            crDoc.SetDataSource(ds); //set datasource
            crDoc.PrintOptions.PrinterName = ddlPrinters.SelectedValue.ToString(); //set printername
            crDoc.PrintOptions.PaperOrientation = PaperOrientation.Portrait; //set paper orientation
            crDoc.SetParameterValue("ParamUsername", User.Identity.Name); //set parameter
            crDoc.PrintToPrinter(1, false, 0, 0); //send to printer
    I have to change the code to export to a PDF and this code doesn't work:
        private void PrintJuryDutyReport(DataSet ds)
            //report document
            ReportDocument crDoc = new ReportDocument();
            string myfile = @"G:\COPFS\COPFSPROD\ReportsTemp\MyPDF.pdf";
            //load, set datasource and print options
            crDoc.Load(Server.MapPath("~/Reports/JuryDutyReport.rpt"));
            crDoc.SetDataSource(ds); //set datasource
            crDoc.SetParameterValue("ParamUsername", User.Identity.Name); //set parameter
            //export through http
            crDoc.ExportToDisk(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat, myfile);
            crDoc.Close();
            crDoc.Dispose();
            Response.ClearContent();
            Response.ClearHeaders();
            Response.ContentType = "Application/pdf";
            Response.AppendHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + myfile);
            Response.WriteFile(myfile);
            Response.Flush();
            Response.Close();
    Any help is greatly appreciated as I have to present this to end users tomorrow.

    Don, thanks for the response.
    As a last ditch effort, I granted "modify" to the Network Service Account on C:\Windows\Temp and that fixed the error.
    There are two things that are troubling about this:
    1) I'm impersonating a domain user in my ASP.Net application and when the PDF is created, the owner is that domain user, so I know impersonation is working.  So I wonder if ASP.Net picks and chooses what account it runs under at different times?
    2) It is a little scary for the Network Service Account to have this access but that people seem to be fine with it.
