  • Creating alias for Web access to SQL Server Reporting Services

    Hello colleagues.
I have MS SQL Server 2012 with SQL Server Reporting Services in domain "domain.local". In the local network at the entrance via Web browser to "mdr.domain.local/Reports" get into Reports of SQL Server Reporting Services and it's work fine.
Necessary that the SQL Server Reporting Services could include via Web browser from alias "reports2.domain.local/Reports". To do this:
    1) I created a new A record "reports2" in the DNS leading to IP mdr.domain.local
    2) in Reporting Services Configuration Manager on a tab "Web Service URL" in "Report Server Web Service URLs" I add new record "http://reports2:80/ReportServer" (host Header Name: reports2)
BUT "reports2.domain.local/Reports" is not work. When entering to "reports2.domain.local/Reports" I see page "An error in the security certificate for this Web Site..." and when I click "Continue to ...", then "Unable
    to find a web page."
What and where I must add/change for work of alias "reports2.domain.local/Reports" by analogy with "mdr.domain.local/Reports"?
    I hope for your help.
    Thanks.

    WooW it's work!!! Thank you
    JJordheim  you are the best!
With my PKI I create new certificate for "reports2.domain.local" and Import it to MDR server (in Personal). I create new network adapter and configure Reporting Services Configuration on "Report manager URL" tab (for SSL):
    mdr.domain.local - certificate "mdr.domain.local" - network adapter №1
    reports2.domain.local - certificate "reports2.sygroup.local" - network adapter №2
    And all work fine.
If I configure all to 1 network adapter it's doesn't work.
    Thanks for help!

  • Problem accessing VIP via HTTP from service servers

I thought I had a pretty simple config on my CSS11501- but have run into an issue I'm having trouble resolving.
I have two unix webservers (IPs are .99 and .100) on ports e1 and e2, and my uplink for the CSS is on port e8.
The CSS has a VIP address (.105) that load balances HTTP requests to .99 and .100.
From .99 and .100 I can ping the VIP address - and from outside the CSS - almost everything works great for the site I'm hosting on .105.
I do have two web pages however that attempt to make calls directly to the VIP address - I noticed I can't load those pages.
Nor can I just browse the website on the VIP address from either of the servers. The webservers can browse their own pages via IP, and each other's pages via IP.
Just not pages on the VIP.
I think it may be a case of the servers thinking that IP spoofing is occurring - or maybe I missed something simple in the config.
Here's what I see in a 'show flows' when I try and browse the VIp address (.105) from the .100 server.
Src Address SPort Dst Address DPort NAT Dst Address Prt InPort OutPort
    65.207.212.100 53758 65.207.212.105 80 65.207.212.100 TCP e2 e2
    65.207.212.100 80 65.207.212.100 53758 65.207.212.100 TCP e2 e2
Since it appears that the CSS NATs the request to the same IP the server is using, will the reply from the server ever make it back to the CSS?
Or does it think that it shouldn't need to reply - becauuse it is that IP?
Should I be able to browse the VIP site from the webservers.
Below is the full CSS config if someone can help me figure this out.
Thanks in advnace for any and all help.

    Paul,
simple config and well-know basic mistake :-)
If a server tries to access the vip, the css will forward the request to the same server or the other one.
Both ways, the response from the server will go directly to the client-server, bypassing the CSS.
For this to work, you need to do client nat so the server making the HTTP connection appears to be coming from the CSS.
    Create a group like this
    group servernat
    vip addr 65.207.212.105
    active
and add the following to your acl
clause 5 permit any 65.207.212.99 destination content www/rule1 sourcegroup servernet
Do a similar clause for the 2nd server.
    re-apply the acl.
    Everything should work now.
    Gilles.

  • Accessing ESSO Reporting Services Console

    Hi to everyone,
I have just deployed the Oracle ESSO Reporting Services (version 11.1.1.5.0) with MS SQL Server 2008 R2 database to collect events about ESSO-LM. Both the Reporting Console and database are on the same server with Windows Server 2008 R2.
Events from one, test, client (there are no others at the moment) are being written to the database well, but I can not access the Reporting Console via web browser. As soon as I fill the user credentials, the login process starts but fails with the following errors (depending on the Silverlight):

I have also tried to install different version of Silverlight on the client site but that did not change the behaviour a bit.
The browser I use is default installation of Internet Explorer 8, which is the company standard, but the error occured also on Firefox 3.5.18. The error shows both when connecting to the Reporting Console via network from PC station as well as when launching the console localy on the server.
I have tried to rebuild the environment with no success.
What perplexes me is the fact, that I have been able to successfully implement the ESSO Reporting Services in our lab enviroment where I have not experienced this.
I have found a thread here dealing with this problem dating a few years back but with no solution. Have any of you happened to see this? If so, were you able to solve it? Could you please give me any hint which direction to go to solve this?
    Thank you in advance,
    Ondrej

The problem disappeared on its own over the weekend.

  • Reporting Services 2008 - Anonymous Access

    Hello,
In SSRS 2005 I was able to grant anonymous access to my reports by changing the authentication mode for the Reporting Services virtual directory in IIS to Anonymous and then adding the 'account used for anonymous access' to the permissions on the appropriate Reporting Services directories (in report manager).
Now with SSRS 2008 there are no virtual directories in IIS.
I tried to follow the instructions given:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281310.aspx (Authentication Types in Reporting Services)
Which instructed me to use the custom AuthenticationType, and following the instructions here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281383.aspx (How to: Configure Custom or Forms Authentication in Reporting Services)
which just got me an error:
The Authentication Extension threw an unexpected exception or returned a value that is not valid: . (rsAuthenticationExtensionError) Get Online Help
For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
Any ideas on how to set up anonymous access to SSRS2008?
Thanks for any time and help!

    JC,
I check the solution on net and get following:
First create a class called ReportServerCredentials that implements the IReportServerCredentials interface.  You will need to import System.Net and Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms to this class.  Overload the New and GetFormsCredentials methods and the NetworkCredentials and ImpersonationUser properties.  Here's a class that I use:
    Imports Microsoft.VisualBasic
    Imports Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms
    Imports System.Net
    Public Class ReportServerCredentials
        Implements IReportServerCredentials
        Private _userName As String
        Private _password As String
        Private _domain As String
Public Sub New(ByVal userName As String, ByVal password As String, ByVal domain As String)
            _userName = userName
            _password = password
            _domain = domain
        End Sub
Public ReadOnly Property ImpersonationUser() As System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity Implements Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.IReportServerCredentials.ImpersonationUser
            Get
                Return Nothing
            End Get
        End Property
Public ReadOnly Property NetworkCredentials() As ICredentials Implements Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.IReportServerCredentials.NetworkCredentials
            Get
                Return New NetworkCredential(_userName, _password, _domain)
            End Get
        End Property
Public Function GetFormsCredentials(ByRef authCookie As System.Net.Cookie, ByRef userName As String, ByRef password As String, ByRef authority As String) As Boolean Implements Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.IReportServerCredentials.GetFormsCredentials
            userName = _userName
            password = _password
            authority = _domain
            Return Nothing
        End Function
    End Class
Next, in the OnLoad of your page with the ReportViewer control, create a new instance of your ReportServerCredentials (I use values stored in AppSettings).  Then assign your object to the ReportViewer control's ServerReport.ReportServerCredentials property.
    Dim cred As New ReportServerCredentials(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings("MyStoredUser"),_
        ConfigurationManager.AppSettings("MyStoredPassword"), _
        ConfigurationManager.AppSettings("MyStoredDomain"))
        MyReportViewerControl.ServerReport.ReportServerCredentials = cred
I try it but get following error
Compiler Error Message: BC30002: Type 'IReportServerCredentials' is not defined.
Do you think it is a possible way for Reporting Service 2008? if yes, what lead to the error? thanks in advance.

  • Reporting Services Registry access error

We have an existing setup of SQL 2014 & SP 2013 Foundation server which works fine without any issues. Then, we have been installed the following components into SQL Server
    Reporting Services – SharePoint
    Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint
Then, I provisioned a new SQL Reporting Services Service Application in SharePoint. When attempting to
Manage the Service Application and click on ‘System Settings’ in Central admin of SharePoint and getting below error.
The report server cannot decrypt the symmetric key that is used to access sensitive or encrypted data in a report server database. You must either restore a backup key or delete all encrypted content. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.ReportServerDisabledException.

I understand from my investigation, an above said error should thrown only if I'm changing the user of reporting services. But in my case, I Just installed Reporting services and trying to do the configuration. Not sure why I'm getting such registry access
    error.

    Hi orionkings,
According to your description, when you click the “System Settings” in Central admin of SharePoint, the error is thrown out.
In your scenario, the error “Requested registry access is not allowed” could cause by SharePoint web service account can't access some registry keys. To fix the issue, you can use Process Monitor to monitor the registry, and grant Read permission for the
    corresponding key.

  • Reporting Services 2005; No Administator Access

    Hello forum
I have recently started working for another company and I am in the middle of performing Audits (first time ever for this company).  I have come across a SQL Server RS 2005 installation that does have some Reports but it does not appear to have any
Administrators; the BUILTIN\Administrators group is present when I look at the Users Table; however we have tried three separate accounts that should have Administrator rights and none of these do not have admin rights within Reporting Services.
Does anyone have a script to hand which will identify individuals who are set up as Administrators?
Is there a way to either add myself as an Administrator; without using the intranet interface; or is there a way to reset the permissions of BUILTIN|Administrators to make this group an Administrator within Reporting Services?
    Many thanks
Please click "Mark As Answer" if my post helped. Tony C.

    Hi Tony,
Per my understanding that you some permission issue in the report manager, the users in the default "BUILTIN|Administrators" group don't have the related admin rights, right?
By default, Reporting Services has assigned both System Administrator roles (System-level) and the Content Manager role (Item-level) to the BUILTIN\Administrators group and the users that are in the local administrators group is in this group.
Please check beloe details information to make sure you have done the proper setting of the user permission:
Check the local Users and Groups to see if the user is in the Administrators group, the user should in this group:(If you want to add new user as the content manager you can add this user to the Administrator group)
Click the connect under the "Object Explorer" (Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio) and select to connect "Report services", expand the role folder under the  Security
folder and click the properties of "Content Manager" to make it have the permission as below:
Details information about the role assignments for your reference:
Grant User Access to a Report Server (Report Manager)
If your problem still exists, please try to provide more details information about the permission the user currently have.

  • Cannot delegate Reporting Services Web access to domain user / group, User does not have required permissions

    Hi
    I have an SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 installation on a Server 2008 R2 + SQL 2008 R2.
I'm having trouble delegating Reporting Services Web Access to a standard domain user.
I have followed the instructions from these blogs:
    http://blog.coretech.dk/kea/creating-the-reporting-user-role-in-configmgr-2012/
    http://www.wolffhaven45.com/blog/sccm/assigning-users-to-configmgr-reportusers-group-in-sccm-2012/
No matter how I try, I cannot get the reports to show for a standard domain user. In the console no reports are showing and in the web access I get
"User domain\user does not have required permissions........"
The only thing that is consistenly working when I test is to put the AD Group on the Security Role "Full Administrator".
    Then everything will show up.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?

Thanks everyone for helping me with tips. I have now solved the problem. It was the permissions from SCCM that did not replicate to the Reporting Server.
In srsrp.log I got these error messages:
Could not retrieve the reporting service name for instance 'MSSQLSERVER'
    Invalid class
Could not stop the reporting serviceAfter googling a litte I found these 2 sites with similiar problems:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/d4a7f93a-506f-4e3f-b5fc-bd2b087277da/ssrs-permissions-do-not-add?forum=configmanagergeneral
    http://www.microtom.net/microsoft-system-center/software-distribution/sccm-2012-reporting-services-do-not-install
    So I ran the command for SQL 2008 R2: mofcomp.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof
and BAAM, everything started to work =)

  • Changing Reporting Services Account via SMO

I am in the process of changing our Service Accounts to use virtual accounts in place of using local accounts.  I am using SMO to change the SQL Server, SQL Server Agent and Analysis Services accounts to the virtual account and works great.  Question
I have, can the Reporting Services account be changed via SMO without disrupting Reporting Services?  In the past, an DBA change the reporting services account password without going through Reporting Services Configuration manager, and we lost all of
the data sources for the reports.  I was wondering whether or not using SMO will result in the same thing happening or not.
    Thanks.
    DJ

I've not tried this on SSRS but the below link talks about your problem. I would recommend you to have rollback plan in case of any issues. Try this on less critical servers.

  • Can't access Reporting Services Manager through web browser.

    Hello,
I want to start using SQL Server Reporting Services. I'm trying to get access to Report Manager through Internet Explorer so I can set up System-level permissions. I'm running SQL Server 2008 R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
I didn't set up this instance of SQL Server so I don't know a lot about it's configuration. I browsed the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.<SQL Instance>\Reporting Services" folder and found the following items:
LogFiles folder, ReportManager folder, ReportServer folder, RSTempFiles folder, sql_rs_keyfile.dll.
Given the ReportManager folder I found inside the Reporting Services directory, I assumed the url for Report Manager would be http://<server name>/ReportManager but I get a 404 error when I try that. Then, I found on some MSDN article that the default
URL for Report Manager is http://<server name>/Reports. When I tried that I got an error that said:
"The underlying connection was closed: Could not established trust relationship for the SSL\TLS secure channel".
I should mention I'm not very knowledgeable with SQL Server so I may be approaching this in the wrong way.
I appreciate any help that you can provide. Thanks!

    Hello,
Based on your description, you configure Report Manager access through an SSL-encrypted channel by binding a certificate.

  • Sql server 2005 reporting service access in java

    Hello Friends,
I want to access Sql Server Reporting service in Java.If anybody knows than please help.
    Thanking You

    Hi
1.if you use web templates you can post the URL in share

Here are a few way's to extract data from SAP:
