Hi,
For this kind of case, normally, I anticipate the connection comes from internet cloud which refers to remote access.
Since we have managed firewall services that associated with customer VRF, on windows based client, just configure/enable PPTP/IPSec on client - like most laptop or maybe perhaps pda...
cheers..

  • Cannot surf internet with WRT54G v5 on Windows Vista RTM x64

Hi, I have a Linksys WRT54G v5 router with Firmware Version: v1.01.1, Nov. 10, 2006. On Windows Vista x64 I Network conections says that I have Internet access, as a matter of fact Windows Update works fine and downloads some update without any problem.
I tried on two onboard network cards thai I have on my MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum: Nvidia NForce 3 and Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet NIC. I tried also installing a PCI Realtek network card and no luck at all.
The thing is IE7, MSN, and any application that tries to access Internet cannot connect. IE7 says "address invalid". However on IE7 64 bit surf internet perfectly, everything else fails to surf.
Same router is working fine on Windows XP x64 Edition and 32 bit.
Any ideas would be appreciated.Message Edited by Hernan on 12-23-200610:20 AM

Hi, well check whether after installing the drivers for the Ethernet card whether the pc picks up an IP address. You can check it from start > run > cmd and then ipconfig. If you are unable to pick up an IP address then try to lower the card speed
If still unable to get it working then check with the Microsoft whether the cards do support vista or no.

  • Local area network disable internet connection

    Hello,
    i have a strange problem, i explain
Computer A  win XP   ip 192.168.2.231 with onboard network card
Computer B  win 98   ip 192.168.2.232 with pci network card
Router Linksys WRT54GS, with ip 192.168.2.230, but i use it just like a hub because i don't have here internet connection
both computers connected with cable and all work nice.
Then i added a wireless/USB Planet because i want to connect it to another router in another building to get internet connection, so i connected this Planet wireless/USB to computer A, all work nice, i get signal internet connection and ip 192.168.1.102
but ..... and that is the problem, when i connect computer B win local area it disable my internet connection, i try to ping some domain name from computer A, where Planet adaptor is installed, but it try to find this domain name in local area instead to route in internet connection, if i deactivate local area ..... internet connection work like a charm.
I tried to change several ip groups, all in 192.168.1.x, tried to disable, enable DHCP server in router, tried to change subnet mask, tried to use proxy, to play with router configuration...... nothing it not work.
So i think something about network onboard conflicts, so i installed a new pci card in computer A, ouffff nothing when i active local network i stop to have internet connection, i tried also to install another USB wireless adaptor and connect it via wireless with router, nothing ... when i active local network i stop to get internet connections
So the only way to get internet connection is do disable local network oufffff
    any suggestions about ?

  • Can I share my internet with my Ipad and simultaneously connect to a airport express that I use to remotely connect speakers?

Can I share my internet from my Imac with my Ipad and simultaneously connect to a airport express that I use to remotely to connect speakers?
The big problem that I'm having is that when internet sharing via the airport I can not simultaneously connect with my airport express.  It would be great to be able to share internet from my Imac so I can be using my Ipad and at the sametime have my wife use the airport express to stream music in a different room. It would be awesome to be able to have the ability to do both. Does anybody know how?

Unless your iMac was made before 2006 (this forum is for old iMacs), you might get better assistance by posting in one of the following forum areas:

  • Router To Access Different Wireless Network For Internet

Okay, so I have a Free Community WiFi that I can access from the edges of my house, but not from anywhere inside the house. My personal Internet connection is out due to the fact our bill trippled for some reason we can't figure out 2 months ago without telling us. We've had an auto payment sent every month for just over what it should be. So until I get this sorted out with the ISP I have to use the community WiFi. I would like to be able to use the internet from somewhere other than the wall in my kitchen.
    So, I have a number of Routers, 2 Actiontec Q1000s, but only 1 power suply, a D-Link WBR-2310, D-Link DIR-601 & a few other ods & Ends including a 12DB Amped Wireless & An 8DB Hawking Tech antennas.
What I want to do is to use 1 router to connect to the CommunityShared Network, A wired connection to another router (Preferably the Q1000 as it's already setup for my Home Network) & that router to serve my Home Network, preferably over the WAN port if possible, but I can run VPNs on each device for a week if I have to.
Right now I have one computer setup in the kitchen with a High Gain Antenna conected to a Atheros SUB-362 EXT USB WiFi card, (This computer gets 7Mbps Down & 9Mbps Up) then the built-in WiFi card connected to my Home network with a Static IP, The Q1000 set to use that IP as the Gateway. I can get about 200Kbps max on devices connected to the Home Network. But the biggest problem is that my old Atheros card disconnects randomly when accessed from one of the devices on the home network. I'm fine with a ThirdParty Firmware Update on the D-Links if necessary.
When I look online I only find posts about how to extend a network using a second router or how to use a specific router to repeat or bridge.
Any help would be greatly appriciated

Using a and router as a wireless bridge or even a repeater is not possible unless that router has a firmware that has the capability of such function.

You cannot easily do this. If your app is delivered via a web
domain, then you cannot access both network and local assets.
The only way to do what you ask is to physically install the
    application in a trusted folder.
    See this doc:

and this for details on hot to set it up:

  • Cant access local PC Network shares

On the highly filtered network that I connect to at a University this does not work.
I do the following in the finder.
    1. Go menu
    2. network command
    Nothing shows up.
However last Saturday I was able to browse network shares using this method.
I emailed IT and they do not know whats up. Perhaps they have this service filtered, yet enabled on Windows, as I can use Dave to access network shares. However Dave costs moneya nd why I uninstalled it.
Can anyone tell me whats up and what I should email to IT? I emailed them this morning and sent themn a screenshot and they claim they need more ifnormation. But all I gave them is that I cant access network shares and told them that last saturday I could.

  • My husband just got me an iPad 2 for Mothers day and today when I tried to sign on it is saying I don't have any cellular data left?  I'm at work and we have wi-fi, why can't I access my webmail and the internet with just that?

My husband just got me an iPad2 for Mothers day and today when I tried to sign on to it it said I do not have a cellular data network?  I'm at work where we have Wi-fi.  Can't I just use that to sign onto my webmail and to get onto the internet?

If you are in a wi-fi only area, then you need to join a wi-fi network. Does your office have wi-fi? Has the Admin given you the iformation to join the wi-fi network?
    To join a wi-fi network...
    1. Go to Settings/Wi-Fi
    2. Tap Other...
    3. Enter the name of your wi-fi network
    4 Tap Security
    5. Tap the type of security the network uses and return to Wi-Fi
    6. Enter the password and tap Join

  • I have a Time Capsule as my router.  I can connect wirelessly to the network and internet with my MBPr, but my Mac Mini will only connect to the network wired or wirelessly. Airport on it sees the internet as green, but will not connect.

I have the Time Capsule hooked to a wireless modem.  It uses a static IP, which is put in and running.  The MBPr connects, as well as my iPhone 5, to the internet and network without problem.  I can see the Mac Mini, external drive attached to it, and the Time Capsule.  The Mac Mini connects to the network wired or wirelessly, but not to the internet.  On wireless, using AirPort the Internet shows green, but no connection when I open Safari.  The settings under network settings are identical except for LAN IP between the Mac Mini and the MBPr.  I was hoping someone might have an idea of what was going on.  Before I moved the Time Capsule was on Bridge mode from another router, now it is on DHCP and NAT for the internal network.

No, its is connected direct to the providers fiber box.

  • Can not surf internet with AOL dialup.

I can surf with wireless, but can NOT with AOL dialup. I can surf dialup when I load Safari.com on the AOL.
This problem is intermitent. I can surf with AOL 1 in 10 times.
When surfing with AOL it may crash with the rotating beach ball.
I have removed and installed a new AOL with their telephone support.
Problems began when I installed Quicken 2006, as it now crashes when I try to generate a report.

    Hi HPIC!
I can't help you with the Quicken issue, but I may be able to help you with AOL.
Since you are comfortable with uninstalling and reinstalling AOL, may I suggest that you use the instructions I have composed, found here How To Manually Uninstall/Reinstall AOL.
I think they may be a bit more complete, than what the AOL tech had you do.
    Good Luck!
EDIT: Before you do that though, try this. It may be an easier fix.
Sign Off, but don't quit AOL.
When signed OFF of AOL, but with the Sign-On screen open, click: SET UP > Expert Set UP.
Click : Add TCP Connection to bring up new dialog box.
Pull down the menu in Advanced Options - Connection Scripts:
Change the connection script to TCP (DO NOT use Airport)
Click Okay and close all windows.

  • Create local wifi network on OS X without internet connection

    Hi,
is there anyway to create a local wifi network without internet connection to play multiplayer games like call of duty on macbook pro ?

Is it safe to assume that you are connecting your MBP to a wireless router already?
If you are then all the other LAN machines should also connect to that same router even if internet access is turned off.
LAN parties are fun and they require the computers to have certain port setups for certain games.
It is possible, though I don't play COD (I'm a Battlefield man) and I can't help with the details of COD.
When my son has his friends over we  use a wired hub setup and we  make the laptop guys use the wired connection - it's  more stable. I admit that we always use the internet. The last LAN party we had without the internet was a Battlefield 1942 setup with one computer hosting the local server (and that was years ago.)

  • How to reach a web server with a GPRS connection?

    Hello,
We have developed a cRio Datalogger and we control it by a remote panel with the cRio connected in our LAN.
Now we want to do the same connecting the cRio with a GPRS Modem-Router from Multitech (a Multimodem with DynDns capabilities). The problem is that our provider of GPRS service give a private IP, so we can't access the cRio from internet.
We did a test with an example that comes with Labview, a multiclient TCP connection, we run the client vi in a PC connected to internet with the GPRS Modem and the server in another PC in our LAN. The example runs perfect. In the client vi we added some indicators to show the network address an the remote port, but we can't open a remote panel of the client vi from the PC running the server vi, using the information collected. The network address it isn't a IP number is a name and for our surprise the remote port number is diferent that the port used by the example.
Conclusion, we can do a TCP/IP connection if the communication is started by the Device with the GPRS Modem but we can't do the opposite. The problem is the same to have a web server running in a PC in a LAN and want to reach it from internet without having access to the router configuration.
And because the remote front panel connection is started by the PC who want to open it we can't make it work.
Any idea, is possible what we want to do?
    Using:
    LV 8.5.1
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello,
We solved the problem using a SIM with movil wide band enabled. With that service, the cell phone company give a public IP address (here in Argentine).

Yes, that will be fine providing you don't want to play any protected content.
