Access movieclip from class

Hi,
I would like to tell a movieclip on the stage to be visible from a class.  Is that possible?

if that class has a reference to a displayobject, yes.

    Hi All,
    I have one .dbf file which is not attached to any database. I have installed and created an Oracle 10g database. How can i attach that .dbf file to a fresh database or can i retrieve data from .dbf file and import into new database?Just one datafile? Well, you can't attach the datafile to a database just like that and start reading it. Oracle is not, as Billy has told you already, is not Access or Excel that you can just start reading its contents. Even if you attach it to some other tablespace, without ensuring that the datafile is self-contained , I doubt it would be much of any use.
    This is just my thought :- can i use HSODBC (I know this is for non-oracle database) in order to retrieve data ... Just askingNo.

  • Access arrayobject from class method

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me how to access the variables in an object array from a static method of the same class?
    In another class i create a object array
    MyClass[][] myObjectArray = new MyClass[3][3]
    In MyClass there is a declaration:
    public int myInt = 1
    and a class method:
    public static myMethod(){
    int intVar = "this is where i would like to read the value of myInt for each object, something like myObjectArray[0][0].myInt + myObjectArray[1][2].myInt, but it does not work"
    I guess something with "this" or "super", but dont know how.
    Thanks,
    /Thomas

    It should obviously be impossible to access any Instance
    in a class-method.
    You could pass it as an parameter though:
    public static void myMethod(MyClass[][] myCl)

  • Why eclipse gives me warning if I access in inner class a parent  field ?

    I have a class
    class A{
    private Map fValues;
    A(){
    fValues= new HashMap();
    prrotected class B {
    B(){
    fValues.get("String");
    Above class is only for an example to expalin my problem.
    Inner class B wants to access fValues from class A .
    The eclipse gives me a warning
    Access to enclosing method fValues from the type A is emulated by a synthetic accessor method. Increasing its visibility will improve your performance
         I order to get rid of this warning I must make fValues public is this the only solution ?

  • Target movieclip from an AS3 class file - remove/add Child

    Halo.
    I have a very simple question  (for those who use external class files).
    Assuming that I have a MovieClip manually added to Stage and I want to access it from inside my class definiton.
    So the code would be:
    MovieClip(root).MyMovieClip
    But I can't figure out how to use remove/add Child in that kind of situation.
    I will appreciate any advice.
    Thanks

    if you can reference using that, you can remove using:
    MovieClip(root).MyMovieClip.parent.removeChild(MovieClip(root).MyMovieClip);
    and you can add to any displayobjectcontainer.

  • Accessing variable from another class

    Say I want to access String ABC from class XYZ from my main class. I have already created the object for the class I just don't know the syntax for accessing the variable.
    This is just an example. I figured this is just a problem of finding the right syntax so I didn't bother creating a compiling code.
    public class test{
    public static void main(String[]args){
         XYZ xyz = new XYZ ();
         String a = abc.XYZ(); // this is where i want to directly access the variable abc. i know this isn't correct and it's what im trying to find out how to do.
    public class XYZ{
         String abc = "hi";
    }Edited by: aznprdgy on Nov 3, 2009 2:13 PM

    No, that isn't possible.
    abc is said to be a local variable. And it's only useable within method().
    It's part of the job of the class Xyz to control the access to its state. As an example:
    public class Test {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            Xyz xyz = new Xyz()
            String a = xyz.getSpecialValue();
    public class Xyz {
        private String a;
        public String getSpecialValue() {
            return a;
        public void method() {
            a = "hi";
    }Note that a won't be reference to the string "hi" until after method() has been called.

  • Few basic doubts about accessing AM from backing bean class

    Hi ADF experts,
    I have just started working in ADF Faces.I made a sample search page.My page is attached to a managed backing bean. I have attached command button on my page to a custom method in backing bean class.
    So on, click of button this method is called in backing bean.Now, i have few doubts:
    1)How to get values of various UI beans in this event code?
    2)I am accesing AM , in my method with this code:
    FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ExternalContext extContext = facesContext.getExternalContext();
    Application app = facesContext.getApplication();
    DCBindingContainer binding = (DCBindingContainer)app.getVariableResolver().resolveVariable(facesContext, "bindings");
    //Accessing AM
    ApplicationModule am = binding.getDataControl().getApplicationModule();
    iS this correct ?
    3) After getting handle of am how to call my custom method in AM Class?there was "invokeMethod" API in application module class in OAF, is there any such method here?
    Please help me.

    Thanks for ur response Frank, actually I am from OA Framework back ground.It would be great if help us a little with ur valuble thoughts.
    OA Framework also uses bc4j in model layer of framework. We have a requirement where our existing developers from OA Framework have to move to ADF to make a new application where time lines are quite strict.If this would not be possible we will switch to plain jsp and jdbc,but our tech experts say ADF Faces is the best tech.
    In OA Framework, Application Module is key class for all busiess logic and Controller is used for page navigation. So, I m just trying to find the same similarity , where we write we add all event codes in custom action methods in the backing bean class of page, which we consider equivalent to process form request method in Controller class of OAF.
    But there are two things, I still want to know:
    1)While page render, how to call specific AM methods(like setting where clause of certain VOs)
    2)In action methods, the way i described(I found that in one thread only)to access AM, what is wrong in that?Also, I went through
    http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2004/09/23/notYetDocumentedAdfSampleApplications.html
    where coule of examples use similar approach to access AM from backing bean class and call custom methods of AM(Doing various, deletes etc from VOs).
    3)In these methods can we set any property of beans on the page, I am asking because in OAF, generally we use PPR for js alternatives.But all properties of beans cannot be set in post event.
    Thanks and Regards

  • How to access a Java class from view controller?

    Hi All,
    I have created a Test.java class file from Navigator view under
    Src --> Packages --> com.sap.MyProject.
    When I try to access the Test class from view controller,
    I getting this error "Test cannot be resolved or is not a type".
    How do I fix this?
    Thanks
    Sundar

    Hi,
    I have created a Test.java class file from Navigator view under
    Src --> Packages --> com.sap.MyProject.
    After this you can goto the context of your View and define the VA goto the type of VA and click on the right side button and go to java native type and type your java file name click you name .
    that means the jave file s assigned to VA.
    U can utilize thrut that VA.
    Thanks,
    Lohi.

  • Accessing view object class (impl) method from bean (or vice versa)

    Halo everyone, I am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.1.0
    I have a UsersViewImpl class with a method which refresh the user table like below.
    public void resetEmployeeSearch() {
    removeApplyViewCriteriaName("viewCriteria");
    executeQuery();
    and I have a UserBean class with a method which reset the search fields values like below.
    public void resetInput(ActionEvent actionEvent) {
    ........RichInputText = input ...
    input.setValue("");
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(searchForm);
    I would like to implement it in such a way that, once I press a button, both methods will be called.
    I have tried to call from bean method using UsersViewImpl vs = new UsersViewImpl ..... which is wrong and wont work.
    I have read about doing something like ViewObject vo = am.findViewObject("DeptView1") but I duno how to use it because I cant have a proper example.
    Any suggestion on accessing view object class (impl) method from bean (or vice versa)?
    Or is there any way to combine both method in the same class ?
    Thank you :(

    User, if you get class not found exceptions you need to tell us which classes you can't find. The JSFUtils and ADFUtils classes needing some other libraries which should already be part of your Fusion Web Application template (which your adf application should be based on). If you did not use this application template, you may have to add some libraries yourself.
    What is the diff of using the ADFUtils and OperationBinding way?
    The ADFUtils can get you access to the application module which you then use to call exposed methods on. The disadvantage of doing this is that you have to implement your own exception framework which then handles exceptions thrown by the application module. An other thing is that if you e.g. alter a VO which you use on the page this changes are not seen on the page until you refresh the page. The binding layer does not know about these changes so the iterators (which are used on the page to show the data) are not refreshed and so you don't see the changes.
    In general you should avoid using the application modul in a managed bean method and always use the binding layer (OperationBinding) to call methods. This ensures that exceptions are all handled the same way and that changes to the data model are reflected in the GUI.

  • Accessing a dll from classes in different packages

    Hello java community,
    I am new to Java and especially the jni so your help is greatly appreciated.
    I am having trouble accessing a Windows native dll from classes in different packages. I placed the .dll in my ClassPath. I am able to loadLibrary successfully from class X in my 'common' package. However, when I try to access the same .dll from another class Y in package 'notsocommon'. I get an unsatisfied link error. I changed the X.h file to include common in the function definition (eg. Java_common_X_functionName) and I did the same to the Y.h file (Java_notsocommon_Y_functionName). I am able to work with the dll from the X class but not the Y class. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I am very new to Java, so any help is appreciated.
    Thank you.

    I apologize to everyone for posting this. I figured out my mistake, it was in the dll and not in the java. Also using
    javah -jni notsocommon.Y
    creates the correct header file.

  • Accessing tables from java

    I am creating an inventory system. I have used Java for front-end where i have created forms which display the vendor table, customer table, item table, order table, invoice tbl etc.
    I have created class files for each form that im displaying. i have also made connection to the oracle dbs succesfully. i can access data from the dbs.
    but my problem is,
    1)
    for instance i have created a vendor_master table in oracle with certain constraints like vendor_number can contain only 5 varchar2 characters ,
    eg.
    create table vendor_master
    (v_no varchar2(5) constraint v_no_pk primary key,
    v_name varchar2(25),
    v_add varchar2(15),
    city varchar2(15),
    st varchar2(15),
    zip number(10),
    tel number(11),
    fax number(11));
    now when i want 2 insert any row in the table i should be able 2 insert only "certain" characters of "certain" length depending on the constraints i have set. how do i do tht? coz java does not allow me 2 set the max chars like VB in the properties column

  • Accessing objects from an existing JVM on Windows

    I have a Java class that is running in an existing JVM which is running on local windows workstation. Is there a way I can access any methods or objects from the running Java class and other objects running inside the JVM from C or C++ code using Invocation API?. I know there is a way for us to ATTACH to a JVM that was created from C/C++ but I am looking for a way to access objects from a JVM that was started either as a service or started by other means.

    How did you start the C++ code?
    It is possible to load the c++ dll within your Java code then you may access the c++ code by using native methods out of Java. By calling the c++ method you have the pointer to your Java object and my use it (=> don't forget to use global references).
    If you have started both seperatly C++ in an extra process and Java in an extra process then it can be complicated. Guess that there aren't any easy solution.
    This mean: either you have your Java code loading a dll or you have C++ creating a JVM...
