Preview isn't worth much after Lion & Cannot access network Server
I updated to Lion and found two very annoying issues:
I can not access my network server
Preview have now lost all its previous capabilities, because now you can not:
Delete pages in a multiple pdf document.
It crashes when trying to print.
You now struggle to combine pdf documents into one.
Menu changed and is now very confusing as to save a version, duplicate or export!
Since the days of my first mac, a 512K with dual floppies, this is the first time that I am really dissappointed with an upgrade!
F LorenzoHere it is!

How to access application server path in sap
Hi All,
Could you please help me how we can navigate application serverpath; for example in my job the file is placing at this directory /usr/sap/interfaces/WAP/100/MM/OUT/SOFTCONQAG/ARCHIVE in application server, How can I go to that path to check weather file is avilable or not.
Regards,
Muralikrishna.Hi,
U can access through AL11 transaction. But please note that not all will be having the access to perform this.
Thanks & regards,

I'm trying to set up new 3TB Time Capsule as a wireless network server (with remote access) and for backups for use in a small office (of two Macs). We have a late 2011 Intel MBP and a brand new MBA both running 10.8.3. We have two external 1TB hard drives that until now have been attached the MBP for storage and backing up that computer, which up until now was the only machine in use. The MBA is for a new employee and we need to share and work on the same files, both here in the office and ideally remotely too via Back to my Mac. The MBP needs constant access. The MBA only occasional. The TC has 7.6.3 firmware and we've set it up using AirPort Utility 6.2. It is currently attached to the MBP via ethernet and it has internet access via a Sagemcom router attached to TC's WAN port.
We've managed to set up a wireless network and both have wireless internet access through the TC
But there are so many issues I don't know where to begin - so I'll start with a description of what we're trying to achieve:
I planned to use the TC as the main server drive and place all the key folders and files there so that both of us can access them wirelessly and remotely. The MBP would back up to the TC and to one or two of the external hard drives - one being attached to the Mac via USB and the other being attached to the TC's USB port. We would back up the important data on the TC using SuperDuper and copy it to both external USB drives.
So , first of all, is that a sensible configuration? Should the 'server' be the one of the external hard drives attached to the TC USB port, backed up regularly to the TC using SuperDuper?But when you say 'So using USB drive does make sense if you want to use it as a file store', do you mean a USB drive plugged into the TC? I hope that I can attach an external drive to the TC so we can all access and read/write the content wirelessly via the TC network or remotely.
Yes, USB.. as it prevents the sparsebundle mixing with data files. I guess it does depend on how much data you are talking about.. you can use the TC internal disk if you are careful and setup the sparsebundle with fixed sizes once you create them..
And to be clear, I wasn't planning on backing up remotely via BTMM - only to access the shared folders on the TC data drive or USB external drive attached to it. I'm assuming that's ok?
Yes, that is fine. Sorry I got the impression you were going to do backup over internet.
What is the alternative? Having a Mac Mini that's always on? Do I need OS X Server etc.?
A mini would be great.. you don't need server edition.. but I would see how the TC goes.. since you have it and it is much lower power consumption device. It is just that its design is not really for file storage.
One big problem I have is to do with the sharing permissions. For everything on the TC or attached external drive attached to it, it says I have only custom access and every time I try to change permissions it says I don't have the permission to do that. And if I try to change the owner it says my user name is not valid.
How is the security setup on the TC?
The security is a bit tricky.. I must admit since I run windows computer in the network, that I simply turn on the guest account to read and write access. For a business setup that might not be adequate but it allows me full access to all the files.
If you setup the TC with user accounts then you are in trouble. That makes it very difficult to access, especially if one person already has the file open you may find a second user cannot login. I am not sure as I have avoided the security. IMHO it is meaningless.. since anyone with physical access to the TC can press the reset for one second and has full access.. and can add or change passwords. -
Accessing the server on my own machine when off the network
I want to access the server on my own computer from my own computer, but I can't seem to do this unless I'm connected to a network. In order to access localhost, I have to contact my own computer through my router, which seems unnecessary (especially since I am frequently away from a router). Is there any way for me to access my server and still run my PHP code without having to go through a network?
Port 25 is blocked by a lot of ISPs and a lot of local network admins even on corporate networks in order to curb SPAM infected systems from causing Blacklisting issues with the main public IP gateway address used on these networks.
You had indicated in the OP that you were using an SSL port (i.e. 465) to send out, so the question never came up as to what if you were using port 25 for some reason. We all thought you had already covered that, which apparently you didn't. 995 is the SSL port for POP (receving end) and 465 is the SSL port for SMTP (the sending end). You need to make it a habit to use these ports anyway if supported by your email host as it'll keep these issues from happening and it'll also secure that email connection as well.
In terms of why it wasn't erroring out on you with port 25 quickly enough, when ports are blocked, the traffic just gets dumped, so perhaps your email client was looking for a port closed response from the email server in question... something that won't happen when the traffic is simply being blocked/dropped at the network level.
Anyway, you solved your issue via what we all thought you had in place anyway based on your OP info. -
Dear all,
If my server is enabled for the remote desktop connection, then the users on the local network can access my server IIS services by entering the IP address of my server in the IE (http/https) on the local network only.
I went to control panel>>system>>Allow Remote desktop Connection>>with network level authentication.
Now If my team wants to access this server not by opening the Remote Desktop Connection, rather by entering the IP address of my server on the IE and access the resources offered.
Is it possible by this way,
Or is there any other method to do so.
Regards,
Ahmed3. My web Developer is installing an application on the server for our department team. To test this application running, he wants to access this application through the local machine from browser (rather than logging in through the remote desktop connection).
4. He wants this application to run on the local network only.
5. He wants me to do some setup, that he must be able to enter the IP address of the server in the browsers address bar on his local machine and test the functionality of his application on the local network.
If this is the requirements of the developer, I guess he wants you to configure IIS.
You can do a test, whether IIS is working properly.
Log on to server, enter https://localhost or http://IP_address_of_the_server don't know whether some ports are configured in order for your IIS to work.

IT Stuff Quick Bytes -
HI,
I want to get data on SQL Server from SAP.
What is the procedure to do the above.
Thanks.hi
in the SAP HELP Content,followthe instructions for Tutorial 2: Accessing SQL Server
<u><i><b>also take alook at this presentation</b></i></u>
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/2e81685c-0701-0010-0eb3-918c6d56783a
Below: is the Tutorial 2 instructions.
In this tutorial you will create a portal component that retrieves and displays information from an MS SQL Server database. Your portal component will display information from the Northwind Categories table in a SAP NetWeaver .NET Table control. You will create a dataset to fill with the data and bind the Table control to this dataset to display data.
Note: using a dataset is one of the data access options, which is not always recommended. You will use a dataset in this tutorial for the simplicity.
To complete this tutorial, you need:
Access to a MS SQL Server with valid permissions for the Northwind sample database
Access to a running portal
A portal user account with administrator's permissions
The tutorial is split into a number of smaller pieces:
Section 1. Creating the SAP Portal Application project
Section 2. Creating and configuring the dataset
Section 3. Adding the SAP NetWeaver Table control and binding it to the data
Section 4. Adding code to fill the dataset and display the data
Section 5. Viewing the component in the portal
Section 1.
=========================================================
Creating the SAP Portal Application Project
On the File menu, point to New, and then click Project.
1. In the New Project dialog box, do the following:
(a)In the Project Types pane, choose Visual C# Projects or Visual Basic Projects.
(b)In the Templates pane, choose SAP Portal Application.
(c)Specify a different name and location, or accept defaults.
(d)Click OK.
A new SAP Portal Application project is created at the specified location. A new portal component named PortalComponent1.ascx is added to your project automatically.
Section 2.
=========================================================
Creating and Configuring the Dataset
Prior to creating a dataset, you need to create and configure the data connection and data adapter.
To create the data connection and data adapter
1. From the Data tab of the Toolbox, drag an SqlDataAdapter object onto your portal component form. Data Adapter Configuration Wizard will help you create both the connection and the adapter.
2. In the wizard, do the following:
2(a)In the Choose Your Data Connection pane, create or select an existing connection to the SQL Server Northwind database.
Important: when you configure the database connection, select the option Use a specific user name and password for server logon information. If your password is not blank, select the Allow to save password checkbox, and then select to Include the password in the connection string, when prompted. Although this is not a recommended practice, we use it in this tutorial for simplicity.
2(b) In the Choose a Query Type pane, select the Use SQL statements option.
2(c) In the Generate the SQL Statements pane, create the following SQL statement:
SELECT CategoryID, CategoryName, Description FROM Categories
If you need to build a different SQL statement, click Query Builder to open the Query Builder dialog box.
2(d) Click Finish.
The wizard adds two objects to your portal component: the SqlConnection1 object containing the database connection information and the SqlDataAdapter1 object containing the data definition.
To generate the dataset
1. From the Data menu, choose Generate DataSet. The Generate Dataset dialog box opens.
Tip: If you do not see the Data menu, click the form; the form must have focus for the menu to appear.
2. Select the New option and name the dataset dsCategories.
3. Select the Categories table in the Choose which table(s) to add to the dataset listbox.
4. Select the Add this dataset to the designer checkbox and click OK.
Visual Studio generates the new dsCategories dataset class and the dsCategories.xsd schema that is added to Solution Explorer. An instance of the new dataset class (dsCategories1) is then added to the form.
Section 3.
=========================================================
Adding the SAP NetWeaver .NET Table and Binding It to The Data
1. From the SAP NetWeaver tab of the Toolbox, drag a Table control onto the portal component.
2. Right-click it to open the Properties box.
3. Set the DataSource property to dsCategories1.
4. Set the DataMember property to Categories.
Section 4.
=========================================================
Adding Code to Fill the Dataset and Display the Data
Although the table is bound to the dataset, the data is not displayed automatically. You must explicitly fill the dataset and bind the table to its data source.
To fill the dataset and display data in the Table control
1. Double-click the form to switch to Code Editor.
2. In the Page_Load event handler, call the data adapter's Fill method, passing it the dataset you want to fill:
[C#]
sqlDataAdapter1.Fill(dsCategories1);
[Visual Basic]
sqlDataAdapter1.Fill(dsCategories1)
3. Call the DataBind method of the Table control to bind it to the dataset:
[C#]
Table1.DataBind();
[Visual Basic]
Table1.DataBind()
4. Save your project.
Section 5.
=========================================================
Viewing the Component in the Portal
Deploy the PAR to the current portal.
In Solution Explorer, right-click the portal component and choose View in Portal.
The table with the list of categories is displayed in the browser.

Hi ,
I have installed Oracle Virtual box on windows server 2008 r2 hosted on 1und1.de.
Till installtion and setting up untun on virtualbox it was fine, but once i changed the adapater to bridged mode. I immediatly lost connectivity with my server and now cant access.
It is now 2 days i cant access my server and neither ping it, also the website hosted on it is also down.
The 1und1 has following 2 options
1) using putty i can connect to server command prompt using administrator but cant run any gui application
2) Server Rescue mode: where i get special environment to start, stop services, access registry and command prompt.

How can i restore my connection.
ThanksHi,
According to the result of "ipconfig /all", the physical adapter dosen't appear.
Please check if the physical network adapter works properly. We can verify this in Device Manager.
To open Device Manager by using the Windows interface
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Click Hardware and Sound.
Click Device Manager.
If the network adapter is working properly, please make sure that the Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) has been checked in the properties of the physical network adapter.
If issue persists, please try to uninstall the Oracle Virtual box.
Best Regards.

please provide me procedure step by step.
Thanks & regards
jagdish kumarHi,
do following,
download sapsprint.exe from service .sap.com (Note 927074 - Patches for SAPSprint)
install it on your network server where network printer is attached.
now in sap follow the steps,
tcode -> spad -> configuration -> output devices -> change (F8) -> create
output device -> give name of printer i.e HP_printer
short name -> HPP
device type -> select your printer driver i.e HPLJ1100
device class -> standard printer
select tab access method
Host Spool Access Method -> S
Host printer : __DEFAULT
Destination host: ip address of host where sapsprint is installed
now in su01 for every user assign this printer ( use SU10 for mass change)

Window 8.1 system unable to access network shares via VPN connection
Is there something inherent to Windows 8.1 that prevents it from accessing shares on a domain?
I know that it cannot join a domain, but does that also mean that it cannot access shares which are on a domain?
My problem is that I have several user that are running windows 8.1 that are connecting to our network via a VPN.
The users have domain accounts but their computers as windows 8.1 cannot joined to the domain.
So to access network shares they have to use their domain credentials to create a VPN connection.
Once connected the user can RDP to systems on the domain using their domain accounts, so I know that their user names/passwords and permissions are correct. They can access these systems using the computer name, so I don't feel that I have a DNS issue.
They can see the shares on our file server, but when they try to access their departments shared file, they receive an access denied message. There are a few shares that are completely wide open, shared to all users and all departments but they cannot access
those shares either.
You can ping the file server, from the the client when they are connected to the VPN but you just cannot access any of the shares.
So...
I am thinking that it has something to do with windows 8.1 and not being able to join a domain, but I cannot find anything to explicitly support this thought.
Other users running a variety different OS (windows 7, OSX, Linux) can all access the shares without any problems via the VPN, so I am a little stumped.I have done some more testing and oddly enough I can map a drive if I use the IPaddress, but not the computer name, when checking the check box "connect using different credentials"and providing they users domain credentials.
This seems to point to a DNS issue, one would think, but I can hit the file share server by name \\fileserver.dev.lan
I can see all the shares, so dns seems to be fine right?
So I don't understand why I can map a drive using do the IPaddress and not the machine name, but yet I can see and ping the server by name?
When I try to create a mapped drive by machine name I receive the following message:
Windows cannot access \\fileserver.dev.lan\all
You do not have permissions to access \\fileserver.dev.lan. contact your network administrator to request access.
But if I use the \\x.x.x.x\all using the very same user and password I get connected with no problem.
This only seems to happen on windows 8.1, which leads me to think that has something to do with OS.
I am thinking about upgrading to windows 8.1 pro, but I don't want to go though the hassle and expanse is the OS is not the problem. -
Unable to Access SQL Server 2005 Remotedly
Not sure if this is the right forum to post this...
After going through lot of old posts in various forums and changing lot of settings, i'm still not able to access my Server remotely.
This is Windows 2003 Server machine with Sonicwall Firewall, i have allowed Port 1433 in both Firewall and ISA and call is getting through but i'm getting following error msg :-
{"An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)"}
This machine is also having Sql Server 2000, and the SQL Server 2005 is installed with named instance.
My connection string is :-
"Data Source=192.168.0.1\MYSERVER;Initial Catalog=MyDatabase;Integrated Security=True"
In example above, i'm showing dummy values but actual string is having the actual live IP address and correct named instance and database.
If i use a local address like 192.168.0.1 then i'm able to connect.
My TCP/IP Address in Sql configuration is having my Live IP Address and the port 1433.
Any help will be highly appreciable..i'm still checking on this. i have changed the port now to 1434 and changed in all places.
my connection string is also changed now, so now i'm using :- MYIP\MYSERVER,1434
now i'm getting a different error msg
{"An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.)"}
this can also be due to firewall or something else is blocking it, i will rechk n post back final answer. -
Suddenly cannot connect to server "you do not have permission to access the server"
I am one of only two Macs in our office.
Up until now I have been able to connect to our shared folders/server just fine. Occasionally and randomly I would seem to get booted off, but would just log back in.
Now suddenly I get "Connection Failed You do not have permission to access this server".
I seem to get it whether its cifs, afp or smb.
After it denies the connection it also boots me from email. As soon as I cancel the attempt to connect the email recognizes my password again.
I have tried rebooting, repairing permissions and having our network admin change my password and nothing seems to work.
If I enter an incorrect pw it recognizes it as such. I only get the above message when I use the correct username and PW.
Additionally if I go to the other mac in our office I am able to connect using the same credentials without any problem.
This is via ethernet.i also got the same problem on my ipad i have tried every thing i dont knw hw to fix this problme any solution. ???????????????????????????????????????????????????

How can i access dmz server via public ip from inside?
hi all !
As shown in Figure,how can i access the server in dmz zone via public?
i can access it via private ip 192.168.1.1 now,but i can't access it via 101.100.1.2.
who can help me ?
thank you !Hi,
You would have to configure Static NAT from DMZ to INSIDE for the server in the same way you have done for DMZ to OUTSIDE.
Basically in the following way for example
object network DMZ-WEB
host 192.168.1.1
nat (dmz,inside) static 101.100.1.2
This would enable your users on the "inside" to access the "dmz" server with the public IP address. And naturally only with the public IP address after this NAT.
Hope this helps

Can no longer connect to network server after upgrading dsl modem
While I was working on a file that resides on a network server, the router was powered down so on reboot it would communicate with a dsl modem . After the router was power up I could not reconnect to the server.
I have internet access
The mini can see the server in the finder and the server sees the mini
This is not a wireing issue.
When I try to connect I get this message:
"The file server uses an incompatible version of the AFP Protocol. You cannot connect"
The server is an old mac running os 9.1. I've read that 9.1 is not compatible with 10.4.8. But it worked just fine this morning.
There are other macs (cubes) running 9.2 I can connect to them.
I've tried restarting and logging on as a differernt user. no changeThanks for your help
I made no changes to the mini or the server.
The router was shut down then on restart the new (replaced modem) was configured by using another mac on the network (not the file server)
Once the router and modem were online again, other macs running 9.2 were accessing the file server as usual. The mini was not.
I had been working on a file that resides on the server. I was not warned that the router was going to be shut down. When I saved the file I got the beach ball then error message.
It'll be next week before I'm in the office agin. I'll report back then. Thanks -
I have SLS 10.6 running on my local network with DNS configured.
I can access the server from a client on the lan using server.local or server.domain where domain name is my publically registered domain,
From the internet I can access my server using the registered domain name i.e. www.domain.com.
Is it possible to set my server up so that www.domain.com also reaches the server when used by a client locally? At present I get a page not found error.The configuration you're aiming for is called split-horizon or split-brain DNS, and it's quite possible. It can get slightly hairy when you have different stuff using the same host name for different purposes, for instance, and you'll need to track all external DNS entries in your internal DNS server when you're running "split".
Here is how to set up DNS services. Split-horizon is one of the options listed there.
My preference is to use a different domain or subdomain within the network, and to avoid using split-horizon where I can reasonably manage it. One domain name is configured for and reachable outside and is effectively public, and the other domain (or a subdomain) is inside and private and only reachable directly or via VPN, for instance.
