  • User unable to connect to new access point AIR-CAP3502P-S-K9

    Hi Guys,
In my branch there are 8 access points[ AIR-CAP3502I-S-K9 ] connected to Wireless controller which is been working fine since the beginning.. I had to add two more access points to this branch and after the failure, i realised this Access point [ AIR-CAP3502P-S-K9 ] is latest and it needs the minimum image 7.3.101.. So i did a upgrade on WLC 5508 and all 10 access points have joined successfully...
Issue am facing is when NEW users come under AP 9 and AP 10 get associated successfully, but the old users(Projetc Manager) who been in the branch for very long and able to get associated with other AP's [1 to 8] gets associated successfully with all old AP's but not with the new AP's..
Could please some one advise, why this strange behaviour... I googled for answer but am not getting any right solution...

Do you have AP Groups configured?
The old wireless clients, are their drivers up to date?

  • QoS for voice over access point AIR-AP1242AG-A-K9

Gracias.

    Julio,
Yes, you can do QoS on an IOS AP.  The below link describes how you configure it.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/wireless/access_point/12.4_21a_JA1/configuration/guide/scg12421aJA1-chap15-qos.html
Keep in mind, that with a softphone, or even dual-band cell phones, the applicaiton has to be able to mark it's traffic appropriatly, for the QoS to work as it should.

  • Access Point [AIR-AP35xE2R] Antenna Extension

We are looking at the possibility of using a single Access Point 350 Series to support two different rooms. (One antenna in each room)
How far can the antennas be extended from the access point on the AIR-AP35xE2R product?
Is there a specific cable required to do this extension?
    Thanks.

Blue.Modal is correct. Do NOT use an antenna in each room connected to each connector. Diversity does not work that way.
If the run is short, consider using LMR-400 cable. Cable loss in the RG-58 or LMR-200 will start to affect you. You loose half of your power (3dB loss) in 20 feet with LMR-200.
My actual preference is to use LMR-600, since it does not cost that much more. LMR-400 looses half your power in 50 ft and LMR-600 looses half in about 75 feet.
Remember that there will be loss in each connector and a pigtail must be built/purchased to go from the RTNC connector on the AP to an 'N' type connector (typically) on the LMR-400/600. Also use an omni ceiling mount (or panel wall mount if appropriate) antenna with some gain.

  • Access Point - AIR-AP1231G-A-K9 - PCs can connect but Apple Macs Cannot ...

    Hello,
This is a sort of follow up to a post I made a few days ago. I made changes to my access points and on Windows computers everything works but on Apple products (Macs, iPads, iPhones) the strangest things happen.
(1). About 90% of the time nothing works in that we get NO connection to the Access Point. In the client association logs we see the Mac Address show up but there is a 0.0.0 address where it seems like the device is trying to get an DHCP lease. After a while, the device gets the IPPA address of 169.X.X.X.
    (2) After a extended period of time (an hour or more) the Apple device eventually gets an IP address from the network and then is able to successfully connect to the network. However, the connection is short lived and drops after about 30 minutes to an hour.
Is there a problem with the way Apple products encapsulates their network traffic versus Windows or other products?
Again, this not affect any Windows or Andriod based devices (laptops, phones, etc.) They can connect right away and never drop out.
Below is the configuration file for the AP in question, although this is affecting all of our APs:

For initial configuration you can access AP from the Console port.
Following are the guides you need to look at for configuring you 1600 AP :
Cisco Aironet 1600/2600/3600 Series Access Point Deployment Guide
Getting Started Guide: Cisco Aironet 1600 Series Access Points
Moreover you can check the configuration guide from cisco.com/google, based on the Actual software image your AP is running. Some of the newer IOS for AP you can check here.

  • 1242AG Wireless Access Point - Cannot Get DHCP IP for BVI1 interface - Multiple SSIDs...

    Hello,
I am attempting to set up three Cisco 1242AG Wireless Access Points with multiple SSID's. I used the web interface and directions online to set up the two networks I want and at least one of the networks work wirelessly.
    However, I have two problems:
The first, which is the most important, is that the "management" interface, BVI1, doesn't get an ip address from our DHCP server. I set the VLAN 60 (which you'll see in the documenation below) to be the native VLAN on the device as well as on the switch that the device is connected to as well as other settings in the configeration file below. Because of this, I can only manage the device via the console port which would be a huge pain once all of the devices are mounted.
The second problem is that I am not sure how to get both wireless networks broadcasting their SSID's. I have to manually type in the SSID for the second wireless network I have which I would prefer I don't have to. Anyway I can enable broadcasting on all of the SSID's?
    Thank you for your time.

    Christopher Koeber

I am using a third party DHCP server which is our Windows Domain Controller. I have the ip helper-address set for the native vlan of the Access Point through a layer 3 distribution switch (a Catalyst 4506) that the current switch connects to.
I didn't see any event on the logs for the AP.
Let me know if I need to do something else.
    Thanks.

  • E3000 as an access point with an E3200 as the primary router not showing all connected devices

I recently rewired my home with cat 6. All network and telephone comes in to the basement. While most devices in the home were converted to LAN connections a few remain WiFi connected.  The connections are as follows:
    Cable modem -> E3200 ->High Speed Switch <--> E3000.
I purchased the E3200 to be the primary router. I'm using both 5.0 and 2.4 ghz connections. I set up my (existing) E3000 as an access point (AP) according to these instructions. I used the LAN-LAN setup so that all devices would be on the same network. Both E3200 and E3000 are at the latest firmware level. Both use the  same SSIDs, one each for 5ghz connection and a second for 2.4 ghz connection. Almost everything is working but there are a few nagging issues.
    1) A smart  phone connected wirelessly to the AP shows as a LAN connection when viewing the E3200 DHCP client list
    2) I set up a DHCP reservation for my network attached printer on the E3200.  When it connects via the AP it is not assigned the predefined IP address
    3) I can see the network attached printer on the E3000 MAC filter list but I can't see it when viewing DHCP clients or MAC wireless clients from the E3200 even though the printer is attached and working correctly.
I can understand the reasons for issue 1 but it seems that a client attached to a wireless AP should also show as wireless to the main router.

Well, let me know what IP addressess you have assigned to the network devices? Second if you remove the switch from the network (between E3200 and E3000) does the issue still persist... Once powercycle the whole network and then check whether it happens or not.

  • Cisco Access Point Air-Lap1242: It wont save config

    Hi
I have 2 Air-Lap1242 that wont save their config after reboot.
They are managed by a WLC (4404) and it all seems pretty fine and dandy, but when i reboot them, they dont want to save anything.
I am setting them up as bridges (mesh), and it works until i reboot them, then I have to do it all over again.
Using CLI to type in "write mem" or "copy running-config startup-config" only results in:
    "Building configuration... [OK] ->
    NVRAM Verification Failed "
Anyone who has any sort of solutions to this? Ive tried to google hard on the subject, but didnt get any wiser.

When the AP joins the controller, I set up the settings for its intended use, in this example a bridge. (one ap as root, one as mesh).
After everything is filled out, i reload the ap's and all is good. Then i fill in the "mesh"-folder that appears after reload and reload the Ap and once again all is saved on the Ap. If I disconnect the power to them, both Ap's return to factory default.

  • Cisco AIR-AP521 Access Point Disconnects Frequently

    Dear All,
I have a problem in my environment. My Cisco Access Point AIR-AP521 disconnets every few days and I have to restart the access point to make it work. The System Software Version is 12.4(21a)JA1 and it is acting as a access point. The lastest event logs does not show any critical logs. I am sure that there is no electricity or switch related problem.
Please help me in fixing our this problem.
    Tks,
    Usman

Upgrade the software to 12.4(21a)JY and see if the issue reoccurs!!

  • How to configure the Access point 1602 that I just purchased

    Hi Everyone,
Hope you can help. I just purchased a AIR-SAP1602I-A-K9 from one internet vendor. Along with it I also purchased an power injector. I tried to use it as a standalone AP. It does not come with any instruction and I am not good at Wifi config. Hope you can help... My setting requirement is very simple:
    - Create and broadcast SSID called MYCSL
    -  Does not need any authentication or encrytion... (is this open authentication?...so that people just connect to the SSID that the user can start to cruise internet without putting in any keys.)
    - The access point does not need any static ip assigned, instead, it gets an ip from one of my dhcp server in the network.
    - How do I connect my laptop to configure it via web http?
May you tell me what need to be configured? Although this is a new product from a legitimate retailer... Cisco said they could not support it without any Starnet contract... as a consumer...they should give kind of grace period to support the new products...ANyway, hope you can help me here :)
Thank you very much for your help in advance.

    Hi Takamai,
Thanks for marking the answer are correct.
Sorry to say I didn't understand your question. But reading through line I assume your trying to broadcast the SSID..If that is the case you could use "guest-mode" command under the SSID but if you have multiple SSID to be broadcasted then you will have to use "mbssid guest-mode"
    Hope that helps

  • How can i change regulatory domain C to A of access point

Recently my office got an access point - (AIR-CAP2602E-C-K9)  which is not synchronizing with controller (AIR-CT2504-5-K9 )as it is in domain A , all other AP also in domain A. Now can i change the domain of access point or what is the possible solution to add new AP with controller ? is it possible to run both domain (A, C)  at the same time with one controller ?

Migrating Access Points from the -J Regulatory Domain to the -U Regulatory Domain
The Japanese government has changed its 5-GHz radio spectrum regulations. These regulations allow a field upgrade of 802.11a 5-GHz radios. Japan allows three frequency sets:
    •J52 = 34 (5170 MHz), 38 (5190 MHz), 42 (5210 MHz), 46 (5230 MHz)
    •W52 = 36 (5180 MHz), 40 (5200 MHz), 44 (5220 MHz), 48 (5240 MHz)
    •W53 = 52 (5260 MHz), 56 (5280 MHz), 60 (5300 MHz), 64 (5320 MHz)
Cisco has organized these frequency sets into the following regulatory domains:
    •-J regulatory domain = J52
    •-P regulatory domain = W52 + W53
    •-U regulatory domain = W52
Regulatory domains are used by Cisco to organize the legal frequencies of the world into logical groups. For example, most of the European countries are included in the -E regulatory domain. Cisco access points are configured for a specific regulatory domain at the factory and, with the exception of this migration process, never change. The regulatory domain is assigned per radio, so an access point's 802.11a and 802.11b/g radios may be assigned to different domains.

  • 11b client and 11g Access Point

Can 11g Access Point support 11b client ?
    i have a Access Point AIR-AP1231G-E-K9.
Users with a 11g client adaptor is able to login successfully, but users with 11b client adaptor is not able to login.
How should i configure that AP so that 11b client can login as well ?
Should i downgrade my access point back to pure 11b ?

    Hi
11b users should be able to log in, as this AP supports both 11b and 11g at the same time.
    Please try this:
    Under interface dot11Radio0, configure:
    speed default.
This should set data rates to factory default settings allowing both 802.11b and 802.11g client devices to associate to the access point’s 802.11g radio.

  • Cisco Access Point 1131AG

Is the access point AIR-AP1131AG-E-K9 SNMP based supporting remote configuration via telnet or web interface?

  • Lightweight access-point joined the wireless controller but no radio channels

a customer  wireless controller 2106  he use  access-point AIR-LAP1252G-E-K9  the access point the leds indicate
etherner and radio is blinking green and status is green.
please help i am in the customer company now

The AP1252 has higher power requirements than some of the Cisco PoE switches provide.  Depending on the switch you are plugging them into you will get enough power to power up the device and connect to a controller but not enough to power up the antennas.  Options that can work include:
    1) Removing one of the antennas if you are not gonig to use it (or as a temporary workaround to get some wireless)
    2) Using an external power supply
    3) Using an external inline power appliance system that supplies enough power (http://www.microsemi.com/powerdsine/ is one example).
    4) Depending on the type of switch you are connecting to you may be able to upgrade code to provide a higher amount of power to the port.  For instance, a Catalyst 6500 by default supplies 15.8 watts of power to a port.  But if you upgrade the code to 12.2(33)SXH2? I believe you can get 16.8 watts of power and this is enough to bring up both antennas on the AP.  But even then you don't have enuf power to run the upper N speeds - I think anything above 72 Mbps is unattainable.
Other AP models such as the 1140 have lower power requirements and may work better for you.

  • WCS displays Access Point as disassociated but WLC shows as associated

    Hi all,
I have a WCS ver 7.0.172, a 5508 WLAN Controller with ver 7.0.116.0. At this WLC 21 Access Points (AIR-LAP1131AG-E-K9 ) were associated. As well I have one CleanAir Access Point (AIR-CAP3502E-E-K9) is associated.
    And now ... my problem:
every time the WCS got a critical error and reports that the AP is disassociated from Controller. But if I take a look to the WLC the AP is associated and works at local mode and have two clients associated.
I cleared the alarm - a few minutes later the alarm will be reported again. Same result if I delete the alarm.
Could anybody give support for that issue.
    Thanks and regards
    Holger

    Hi Holgerseiler,
Have you got any information/solution on this issue?
I also have same kind of issue. I have a WCS with version 7.0.172.0, and around 25 WLCs (version7.0.116.0, in which i checked) and totally around 1000 APs are assiociated in wireless network.
Some error messages are coming on my WCS device like
    "AP disassociated from Controller [ip]"
Here AP name and WLC ip address will change randomly, but there is no impact on my network.
    Thanks in advance
    Sangeeth BS
