Access point for Radio on Nokia E51

I tried to update the station directory using wifi but the access points that I can are just gprs or 3g or mms access point...Weird...It does not make sense for a phone that has wifi...Any ideas?

The reason you see conflicting conclusions is because we have to speculate about a lot of the details since Apple has not yet posted detailed specs, a user manual, or application tips.
Most of us are assuming the the wireless networking features of the Time Capsule will be similar if not identical to the existing Airport Extreme N base station. If that assumption is correct, your questions would be answered as follows:
1. yes, the TC could be used as an access point. It would have to be configured as a remote base station in a wireless distribution system (WDS).
2. and 3. yes, other clients on the network would be able to access the TC hard drive and printer
4. you could set things up the other way around - TC as the base station, and the older Airport Extreme as the remote base station.
5. for 802.11g connections, the older base station and its external antenna should give the older base station better range than the TC since power output for both models at the 802.11g standard should be similar.

  • Can I use this as a wireless access point for my network

can I use this as a wireless access point for my network

    umm... use what?
A Time Capsule? Sure. It's just like many other wireless base stations. It can run in either bridge or route mode - in bridge mode it's just like an access point linking the wired and wireless networks together.

  • Can I use the Ethernet Port for a computer when it is also used as a wireless network with an Airport Extreme as the access point for the wireless network

Can I use the Ethernet Port  of the A1264 Airport Express to connect to the Ethernet port of a computer that does not have wireless capability when the Airport Express is also used on a wireless network with an Airport Extreme 5th generation as the access point for the network?
    I have AE 5th gen
looking to buy (from ebay) the AEX A1264
Various computers, printers and hubs for the network
    Is this possible to do?

Bob, Thanks for the info. I have read different articles that said yes, but I wanted to make sure before I commit to buy. I have an older A1084 which I could not use the Ethernet port. I know at one point I was able to when I was on 10.4. Now that I am on an Intel processor and 10.8 I am going to have to upgrade some of my Apple wireless hardware.
    Thanks Again.

  • Using Mac mini as an access point for home network

    Hi
I'm looking for some help on using my mac mini as an access point on my home network.
I have a G5 tower which is wired in to my router and acts as a home server. It has all my itunes library, films, etc
I stream these to various machines in the house, one of which is a mac mini in our living room.
The mini is connected to the network via powerline adapters meaning the airport is left free.
So i set up internet sharing on the mini via airport so I can use the machine as an access point for the living room.
If I connect another machine to the mini via airport, Internet is working fine but for some reason I can't see the any other machines on the network.
All I see in the sidebar is the mini, not the server.
I've tried it on both mine and my friends macbook but had no luck.
Am I doing this the wrong way?
How would you go about doing this?
    Cheers

Internet Sharing may not be providing an address via DHCP, It also may not be providing a subnet Mask that can get you to communicate with the other computers on your local Network.
Take a look at what IP addresses are being used by the various computers on the network. I would expect you have a Router that may be using 192.168.0.1 as its base "private" address, and issuing DHCP Addresses in that range and higher with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, meaning anything with the same three high octets can communicate freely without Router intervention.
But what addresses are bing used for the Wireless Shared computer(s)? and what subnet mask?

  • Feature request for radio on Nokia 5800

I sent some suggestions regarding Radio directly to Nokia but I'd like to post this request there as well so I can see what users think about this.
Also I'd like to know how many radio stations are available in your city. I have access to 27 stations but Nokia 5800 can store only 20 stations.
The original feature request is posted below. I made 2 mistakes but developers should be able to understand anyway.
    1. The station list shouldn't display empty slots: there is no point in having gaps in the list and it makes the list longer even if some slots aren't used. The last slot should be displayed and named as "Add station"/"Empty" so user could add a new station at the end of list.
    2. Add some basic functionality for organizing stations: "Sort by name", "Sort by frequency", "Move up", "Move down". The last two should be buttons rather then menu items so it would be easier to move station around.
    3. Phone supports up to 20 stations and I have 27 stations in my city. It should be hard [note: I meant "should not be hard"] to increase this limit to 4294967296(2^32-1)[note: actually 4294967295]. It's not like we have to reserve space for these stations in advance and the list won't be filled with unused slots.
    4. It would be nice to see RDS on Home Screen.
    5. I have updated to V40.0.005 and RDS doesn't work anymore. Also Radio occasionally becomes frozen.
    See /t5/Software-Updates/Nokia-5800-updated-to-V40-0-005-Radio-RDS/m-p/607102

This is a user to user forum so it is unlikely that anyone from Apple will see your post.
Try using "Provide iTunes feedback" on the iTunes help menu.
You can drag radio stations into a regular playlist if you want to keep ones you like together.

  • Problem with creating an Infrastructure Network (via Access Point) for WLS 9163.

    Hi,
I am trying to connect the WLS 9163 to an Infrastructure Network (via an Access Point). I have connected it via an Ethernet cable and am using MAX to configure it.
    The setting are as below:
    Obtain IP Address through: DHCP
    Country: US
    Radio On: Yes
SSID: wireless (selected from drop down implying the wireless network is detected)
    Wireless Mode: Infrastructure
    Authentication: Open
After doing these settings, I click on Save Settings. The device reboots itself and takes the IP address, Subnet mask and default Gateway automatically. The WLS link LED on the device is also turned on. The System State is 'Connected' and both the Wired and Wireless Connection Status is shown as 'UP'.
    So far so good.
Now if I remove the wired connection and refresh the device, it does not get connected via wireless (which I believe it ideally should). The System State is shown as Disconnected.
I am using a Phoenix Contact WAP and have set the authentication as Open.
    Please suggest some solution.

I had this exact same problem and it took me a while to figure out. As strange as this sounds, I figured out that for some reason if I had the WLS-9163 too close to the router and I pulled the wired connection, the wireless connection could drop. I read on a post in a different forum about someone removing their antenna and it working just fine so I tried that and it worked off and on but mostly off. So I figured out that the further distance away I was the better the connection stability was and I got far enough away from the router to where it was a steady solid wireless connection. This sounds really backwards from what it should be and was really bizarre but I tried different routers, used all different types of settings, had the latest firmware and had all of the equipment sitting on my desk and could not get it working once I removed the wired connection. This may not solve your problem but this worked for me so I thought I'd share that info. I was just so shocked to figure out being too close to the router seemed to be screwing my stuff up.

  • How can I turn mac mini into wifi access point for iPhone?

    Hi,
I do not have a wifi router.
I want my iPhone to be able to use my broadband internet instead of the slow EDGE internet.
The simple solution would be to buy a wifi router whih would enable my iPhone to access the wifi home network.
*What if I could turn the mac mini into a wifi access point?* That would save me from the hassle of buying a wifi router.
Any idea how to do this??
    Message was edited by: d00by666

    I did this.
I think I am doing something wrong. I am doing something wrong in this setting *from ethernet to airport*.
    see attached screenshot.
To start Internet sharing on a computer using Mac OS X:
    1. Open System Preferences, click Sharing, and then click Internet.
    2. Select how you would like to share your Internet connection, and then click Start. You
can choose to share your Internet connection with AirPort-enabled computers,
computers with built-in Ethernet, or both.
    Note:
If your Internet connection and your local network use the same port (built-in
Ethernet, for example), contact your ISP before you turn on Internet sharing. In some
cases (if you use a cable modem, for example) you might unintentionally affect the
network settings of other ISP customers, and your ISP might terminate your service to
prevent you from disrupting its network.
    3. If you want to share your Internet connection with computers using AirPort, click
AirPort Options to give your network a name and password.

  • Supported access points for the rv220w

I need to extend my wireless coverage to another building.  What access points, in repeater mode, will the rv220w support?  I need an AP with detachable antennas.  I have an external mounted antenna on the metal building that I need to hook the AP to.  Thanks!

Hi R. B, thank you for using our forum, my name is Luis I am part of the Small business Support community. As far I know the RV120W and the RV220W uses the same chipsets, so they could be used for WDS bridge setup.
For your second point the RV120W has antennas and you could remove them. Bellow you will see the review of the RV120W.

  • Will older Airport Express Base Station A-1084 work with new AirPort Extreme? I want to use it as an access point for my ps3 for watching movies and just connectin to Internet.

I am lookin to plug in an older model a-1084 next to my playstation for a dedicated access point to avoid dropping so many connections since I am at the furthest point of my wifi coverage. Will it work or not? It would be connecting through a AirPort Extreme bought in 2011 -2012.

This will work if you plan to connect the AirPort Express using a wired Ethernet connection back to the AirPort Extreme.
But, it won't work if you plan to connect the Express using wireless only. That's because your older version of the Expess does not have a setting to "extend a wireless network", so it's not possible to "extend" the wireless signal using wireless only.
If you added a "new" AirPort Express, that version does have the capability to "extend a wireless network" from the AirPort Extreme using wireless only.
Keep in mind that to "extend" using wireless, the Express will need to be located where it can receive a strong signal from the AirPort Extreme, since the Express can only "extend" the quality of signal that it receives. In other words, the Express can make the signal go further, but it cannot make the signal go faster.

  • How can I see "access point" for "connection method" to use Bluetooth tethering?

I have been using WiFi tethering.  However, as everybody knows, the battery of my Nexus 5 goes down so fast.  Now I wish to use Bluetooth tethering.  I updated my Nexus 5 to Android 5.0.  I have a desktop PC, notebook PC and new Surface
Pro 3 all with Windows 8.1 Update.  Up to pairing everything goes OK but when I click the "Nexus 5" graphic on the control panel, I could see only "direct connection" (no "access point").  Some website indicates "KB290440"
but it is not found in the history of update.   I would therefore appreciate if somebody would kindly help me to use Bluetooth tethering.
By the way, the Windows system I am using is Japanese.
    Thank you in advance.

Some website indicates "KB290440" but it is not found in the history of update.
That's the latest "servicing stack".  I think it is optional.  More significant I think would be whether you have the latest rollup, which is also optional, so far.  E.g. at the top of View your update history see what you have for

  • How to enable wireless access point for WRT300N

From product data, "First, there’s the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires."
I already have a WRT54GX-V2 setup to modem.
My intention for this WRT300N is to extend the network connectivity without any lan cable running along my house for those devices which only support LAN wire.
Try to search/google around, there is no hint/help to configure AP in WRT300N.
May I know how should I configure WRT300N so that i will be as an access point to WRT45GX-V2 without any wired connection between these 2 router.
    Thanks.

Is that mean I can do that with WAP4400N only if we want to sustain wireless-N mode?
Yes. With standard firmware, yes. (If there is a N WET wireless bridge, that would do it, too, of course)
Is there any way to configure WRT300N to connect to WRT54GX by wireless?
It may be possible if you can flash third party firmware like dd-wrt on the router (either one). I would suggest to check the dd-wrt wiki for notes on which routers are supported and which not. However, a bad flash may brick your router and it is probably not covered by warranty then...
If use wired connection, do I need to change any configuration vs. default factory setup?
If you can run a wire I would suggest this setup.
EDIT: as Ricewind correctly noted, the Linksys WETs are the wireless bridges. The WRE is a repeater.

  • Bypass an access point for packet sniffing

    Hello,
I have recently set up a WiFi network with WPA/PSK connection and a tablet PC with Windows 7 with "connectify" to act as a repeater/access point. But I would like to use the client running Arch connected to the repeater to log the traffic after the access point/repeater/gateway with, how do I do that?
Main Access point/gateway connected to the internet has an IP address of 192.168.10.254
    Software repeater (connectify) has 192.168.2.1
    Client has 192.168.2.102
So far I can only "see" the traffic between the client and the repeater.

I'm not entirely sure I understand this, but as far as I can tell you have a setup as follows:
    Gateway--Windows 7 Tablet--Arch Client
I'm unsure what exactly you're trying to do with the Arch client. What exactly do you plan to log? How are the devices connected together and how many interfaces does each device have?
I *think* I have a vague idea of what you're trying to do, but I can't help until I know what you're working with in more detail.
