It supports Fat protocols and works in standalone since we do not have the controller, and it is not LWP.
There is no such thing as a "Fat protocol".  It's either autonomous-based IOS or controller-based IOS.
What is the required electrical power and cable length supported in the absence of PoE
15.4w
What is maximum length of uplink cable supported on it
100 metres at 1 Gbps or 150 metres at 10 Mbps.  PoE will only support up to 100 metres.
Number of antennas (4 ??) and the wireless driving distance for the end user reachability.
2602E requires FOUR (4) dual band antennas.  Distance will depend in so many factors.  Since you've got an optional antenna mount, then the factors simply quadruple.
Number of RF channels supported without interfering the existing Motorola Wi-Fi setup
on the sites
Depends on a number of factors.  With little information provided, I can't provide you with any concrete answers.   Because the AP will be autonomous-based, then you don't enjoy CleanAir feature.

  • Access Point Specific Configurations

    Hi All,
just a question of a thumb...
If i had a 2 Controller Scenario with some AP Specific Configurations, for example AP Groups VLAN, and one Controller fails, the APs move to the other Controller. What about the specific config? Assume that the Controller Config (dyn Interfaces lets say) is correct.
    Any Hint Welcome
    BR, Michael

If you keep specific configurations same on both controllers, in this example, if the backup controller has the same AP-Group, SSID configurations and same dynamic interface names with primary controller, when the AP join the backup controller, the AP will be put into the same AP-group and everything stays same for the AP. You don't have to configure APs on difference controllers. You only need to specify primary, backup controller and AP-Group for the AP from WCS.

  • Is there any way I can control which specific access point I connect (and stay connected) to from amongst a set of access points with the same SSID?

I'm working from a boat in a harbor in which the ISP has deployed numerous access points around the periphery.  All the access points share the same SSID and each is configured to use either channel 1, 6 or 11.   From my location, there are over a dozen of these access points "visible" (based on the the output of WiFi Scanner) with a range of RSSI and S/N values that vary over time.
The ISP has told me that the quality of my connection should be "perfectly fine" for any access point with an RSSI value better than -75, but I know from experience that my connection quality is miserable (i.e. < 50Kbps download) for almost all of these, including those with RSSI values better than -75.  There is at least one exception, however, which gives me on the order of 2Mbps download, which is "great" in this context.
I've tried using a more powerful USB antenna plugged into my MacBook Air (mid 2011), but as far as I can tell, it really doesn't make much difference.  Neither does my location within the boat.   The overriding factor seems to be which access point I happen to connect up to.
I should point out that the closest access points are about 75 yards away, with many of them being several hundred yards away or more.  I'm guessing that even though the signal strength of some of the distant access points is causing them to get "chosen" some times, the results are unacceptable due to the distance.
I'm hoping that I can determine, through experimentation, which access point(s) provide(s) acceptable performance and then configure my Mac to limit my connection to those points through whatever mechanism I need to use (e.g. channel, MAC id, etc.).

Establishing a wireless connection with a client computer is left to the access point for various reasons. One reason that your Mac may not connect to the strongest access point is that it may have reached a limit of the number of clients it can serve, leaving it unable to accept a connection with another. The limit may not be very large.
Suppose that happens, and your Mac establishes a connection with a more distant access point having a weaker signal. Then, suppose a client drops off the network. Doesn't this mean your Mac will switch to the stronger access point? Not necessarily. The throughput delivered to and from your Mac would have to drop below a threshold specified in the AP for it to drop the client, leaving your Mac free to connect with another one. The reason for this is to prevent rapid switching from one AP to another in an area in which two signals are of approximately equal quality. If that were to occur the frequent and repetitive handshaking between the two devices would slow throughput to zero.
In an environment in which several access points are broadcasting the same SSID, Apple provides no insight as to how it determines which access point to choose. This is the reason I suspect this "choice" is a function of the router, or access point. The connection originates with it, not the Mac.
Now, what would solve your dilemma would be to determine a way to control the access point with which your Mac connects, by specifying the access point's unique MAC address for example. In this happy circumstance, you could maintain an editable "whitelist" or "blacklist" of the harbor's access points and be able to choose which among them you prefer.
I do not believe OS X maintains such a record of MAC addresses though, only those of the routers it uses. If I am correct about that, such a solution is unlikely to exist. Don't let that discourage you from searching for one though... I would concentrate on something like "selecting access point by specific MAC address".
I did find this patent application though:
Roaming Network Stations Using A Mac Address Identifier To Select New Access Point

  • Specific WiFi access point HTTP proxy always turning off?

    Hello,
My corporate - issued iPhone 4S which is currently sporting 6.1.1 has a weird issue - the corporate WiFi access point HTTP proxy setting always defaults to Off after trying to set it up with a Auto setting and entering a URL to our company's PAC file. My colleagues do not have the same issue - they are able to setup HTTP Proxy to Auto and enter the URL to the PAC file. I tried this with other access points (non-corporate) and it works fine. Is this something specific to the WiFi profile pushed to my device? I've tried contacting our company's IT personnel in charge and they weren't able to give me an answer. Hoping someone here can. Thanks in advance!
    Cheers

To remove access poit, go to settings>connectivity>settings>Destination>Internet>long hold access point and select delete.
For Gmail, don't use it, but if you remove/delete mailbox and then set it up again it should work fine, also heard that during set up if you reject terms and conditions and set up manually it works better ?

  • Best practice for having an access point giving out only a specific range

    Hey All,
I have an access point which is currently set to relay all dhcp request to the server DC-01, However the range that has been setup is becoming low on available IP addresses so I have been asked if it is possible to setup another range for the AP only.
Is there a way to set the DHCP up with a new range and say anything from that access point it will then give out a 192.168.2 subnet address as apposed to the standard 192.168.1 subnet?
Or would it be easier / better to create a superscope? and slowly migrate the users to a new subnet with a larger range?
Any help suggestions would be appreciated
    thanks
    Anthony

    Hi,
Maybe we could configure a DHCP superscope to achieve your target.

  • Limiting access points joining a specific WLC

    Hello Cisco Forum Team!
I am currently installing a new WLC in a VLAN/IP segment that already has WLCs configured and access points registered. I do not want existing ap's on this VLAN to join this new WLC.  Which is the best way to limit ap's joining this new WLC?
I am thinking of some sort of AP authorization list but by IP address instead of MAC address due to the high amount of ap's currently registred on the existing WLCs (approx. 300 ap's).
Thanks in advanced for your support!

AP authorization list would work but you have to use MAC address & cannot use IP address for that. Once you enable AP authorization you can add AP mac to the list like below using CLI.
    (5508-1) >config auth-list add mic <AP1 mac>
    (5508-1) >config auth-list add mic <AP2 mac>
    (5508-1) >config auth-list add mic <APn mac>

  • SSID set on specific access points

    Hi All,
I have an installation of 1 wireless controller at a head office and some access points distributed to two locations. One of these locations has requested a guest wireless access. Please advise if i can setup the guest wireless ssid to only be projected from the aps in one location?
I would not like to have both locations see the SSID.
    Thanks

Yes you can. You just need to use AP Groups which allows you to specify what SSID and interface you want that ap to use. Then if you want to drop off the traffic locally you can setup the APs in FlexConnect mode.

  • Is there an Airport utility to connect to specific wireless access points?

(Trying the server forum... not getting any bites in the Airport or Tiger areas). It appears that the factory airport cards found in iBooks & PowerBooks do not always connect to the strongest wireless signal in a network with a mixture of Airport Extreme, Airport Graphite and Cisco Aironets. Is there a utility for Panther & Tiger that will allow a user to pick the access point he/she wants to use instead of allowing the card to automatically select? Windows XP shows you all the access points and allows you to select the strongest signal. Here's an example of the problem: an employee with a new PowerBook is sitting 10 feet away from a new Cisco Aironet 802.11 b/g access point, but his PowerBook insists upon using the much weaker signal from an Airport Exteme 802.11 b/g access point from the floor below him. This is one wireless network emitting the same SSID and encryption. What gives?
    Thanks in advance!

hmm well i beleaved that a mac wireless card automatically picked the strongest signal,
but can i ask are they both running at G or B all the time, maybe the stronger signal is only available at B so the powerbook picks up the signal from the weeker access point thats available at G.
I thought that the speed, B or G is dependant on what card connects, that if a B card connects to an access point then the whole access point is lower to B speed, maybe this is so, im not sure, so maybe its not only signal strength but speed as well that determines what access point to join.

  • Make airport connect to specific access point?

Hi. I am at a hotel at the moment. The WiFi here is rubbish. When I'm connected it works fine until I disconnect and come back. The problem is when I connect I get a self assigned IP address. I believe it is something to do with the fact that they have 2 access points and one is configured with DHCP wrong. Anyway one is on channel 11 and one is on channel 2 and I was wondering if there was a way to force airport to connect to the one that works.

there's many possibilities, you should provide more detailed information about your environment, for example: AP model/firmware version, laptop model/OS/wirless card driver, parameters configured in the AP and laptop.
    Typically there're some possible reasons:
    1. laptop wirless driver bug or compatibility issue with AP
    2. No matter what reasons, if your laptop had already associated to the outside AP(for example, inside AP powered up later; there's some time, the inside AP lost connection to laptop), if the outside AP's signal had not dropped to a very poor strength level(roaming threshold), your laptop will not roam to a better signal inside AP

  • Setting up a netgear n300 as wireless bridge/access point with airport extremee

I just replaced my netgear wireless router with the airport to allow our many devices on the network without knocking each other off and also increase the speed.  But would like to use the netgear as a wireless bridge or access point so that I can still connect my NTFS formatted hard drive to be shared on the network.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I can not seem to find my netgear router with 192.168.1.1 as that comes up with another device.  I have tried doing this with a windows laptop in another room but can not seem to make it work.  I am now hooked up directly to the airport thinking i need to do it that way and still no luck. Please help.

As long as you intend to do this over ethernet it will work.. you cannot easily wireless repeat or bridge to an apple router.. you would need specific hardware to do it.
What is the exact model of netgear you have?
The setup method depends on the functionality of the router.. but lets assume it does not have a bridge or WAP mode.
    You use WAN bypass.
    1. Setup the Netgear with IP address in the correct IP range for the rest of the network.. it is hard to talk generalities so lets say the apple is main router and your network is now 10.0.1.x .. then set the Netgear to 10.0.1.250 (apple uses IP 2-200 by default) you can use any value you like outside the DHCP range. Up to the limit which is 254 as long as you keep track of all static IP devices. Apply this setting and power cycle the router.. and you might need to power cycle the computer as well to pick up the new IP.
    2. Turn off the DHCP server in the Netgear. You may lose connection to the netgear now.. do not worry about it.. (this can be combined with one.. if you firstly turn off dhcp before you change the IP.. but whatever is possible.. at some point you will need to change around and if you forget what IP .. you will be in a mess.. so write it on a label and stick on the base of the router.. also without dhcp you will either need to reset router to factory using reset button or use static ip on the computer. )
    3. Plug ethernet from LAN of the main router to LAN of the Netgear. Reboot the whole network is often necessary.
    4. In your computer plugged somewhere in the network.. open browser and go to the address you set.. 10.0.1.250 in my example.
    5. You can then setup the Netgear to do whatever you like.. DIsk access is fine.. wireless is fine.. it just cannot be a router.
Many many reboots if you get lost. Hit reset and start over.

  • Is it possible to remove the iphone history of wireless access points to which you've connected?

So.... I work in a place where there is a lot of security and snooping.  There are folks specifically assigned to track down phones in unauthorized places.  Their enthusiasm is sometimes annoying.
I leave my phone in a locker outside of the restricted area.  However, I recently overheard some of the "snoops" discussing a phone that they had found.  They were discussing a specific wireless access point that was in that phone's history, that caused some discussion.  Although the phone was located in the locker area, they had apparently discovered it and examined it.
    It was my phone.
One obvious course of action is to make sure the phone is always turned off (which I will do), but they have now identified my phone by the APs to which I connect, and I'd like to erase that history.
    Is it possible?
    Thank you.

  • AirPort Extreme (5th Gen) WiFi access point disappears but wired ethernet is ok

My AirPort Extreme SSID and access point "disappear" randomly from available WiFi networks. I had a 1st gen AirPort Extreme and never had this problem until earlier this year. I thought it might be a failing radio in the 1st gen unit so I used it as a good excuse to get a 5th gen AirPort extreme about 3 months ago. Same problem has been occuring; unfortunately it is random and I cannot get a handle on what/when/why it is happening.
For example, my iPhone 4S was connected to the network at about 1700 today and when I next checked the phone around 2115, no wifi connection and my network was not listed in the WiFi connections. The base station is away from other wireless devices (mouse, keyboard) and is about 10 feet from the nearest PC and monitor. Both printers are accessed via ethernet, not wifi. The strange and puzzling thing is that the PC, which is connected by ethernet to the AirPort Extreme, is still connected to the internet (I can browse, check email, newsgroups, etc.).
When I run the AirPort Utility, the base station is identified (AirPort Extreme 802.11n 5th Generation), there is an appropriate IP address, Version 7.6 firmware, and MAC address is listed. However, when I attempt to Continue or do a Manual Setup, I'm prompted for the admin password, the progress bar moves during 'reading from the Apple wireless device. Please wait...,' and then the utility reports "An error occured while tryong to access the Apple wireless device. Make sure your network connection is valid and try again. Error -6722.
If I unplug, wait, and reattach the power to the base station, WiFi becomes available again. When the WiFi connection "disappears", the LED light is solid green.
Any insights are appreciated; please let me know other helpful information I can provide.
    Scott

I have the exact same problem and it's driving me nuts.
I bought an airport extreme n last week and plugged it in, hooked it up to my adsl router by Ethernet, configured it to set up a new wifi network and got the green light. I use an iPhone 4, iPad 2, and Windows 7 PC with an N wifi adaptor.
The airport works fine for about 2 hours before the wireless network disappears without a trace. Green light remains on the base station and I can connect fine by Ethernet.
    "it just don't make sense"
    I hope it's not a windows-7-only thing, Apple.
PS. Updated firmware to the newest version, no difference.
Airport is near to a wireless phone so I set a specific wireless channel and frequency to prevent a clash. No change.

    Hi,
I am have been tested  wireless bridging with 2 indoor Cisco 2602 access point by following the attached document and its working fine without any issue.
After then I made one Cisco 1552 EU-M-K9 outdoor access point as RAP, then connect to this RAP with one 2602 mesh access point. But its not working, mesh access point is just start scan the signal to get associate with RAP, but not getting established. Is there any specific configuration required to connect between outdoor and indoor access point. Kindly find the attachment and advise.

  • Problems with classpath and accessing a specific file

I'm currently running an application using NetBeans (I know this is the Sun Forum but maybe someone can help). For those who aren't familiar with this IDE, whenever a project is created, a ProjectName folder is also created. Inside that folder are 5 new folders (*build*, dist, nbproject, src and test) as well as 2 new files (*build.xml*, manifest.mf). The dist folder contains the *.jar* file.
Seeing that this is an audio application, I am constantly working with audio files. In the ProjectName folder, I've created a sixth folder (*audiofiles*) were I load and save such audio files. To access a specific audio file, I do the following:
File audioExample = File("audiofiles" + File.separator + "audio.wav");When I run the project from the IDE there doesn't seem to be a problem. However, when I try to run the project by simply double-clicking the *.jar* file in the dist folder, the audio files can't be accessed. In order to be able to access them, I need to change the path:
File audioExample = File("C:\...\ProjectName\audiofiles\audio.wav");This seems to solve the problem temporarily, but if I decide to change to project folder location, I also need to change the path.
    QUESTION:
What is the best way to access files so that they are not dependent on where the project folder is located? Do I need to modify the classpath or simply write the path in File(...) in a specific way? If I need to modify the classpath, how can I do so in Netbeans?
    Thanks in advance.

    DrClap,
Thanks for the reply. To answer your questions:
Naturally that depends on where you DO want to load from. Are the files in the classpath? Are they in the current working directory?
Some other directory where you can ask the user to point to? On a different computer? The audio files are located in a created folder in the IDE project folder. I know you mentioned that I should stop thinking about this as an IDE project but I don't know any other way to think about it. I'm kinda new to Java, and the only way I've learned how everything is structured is through the IDE project structure. I'm realizing that this is probably not the best way to go about as it doesn't allow me to have a good understanding of the Java file structure. What changes do I need to make in the way I view my IDE project to make it more into a deployed version?
I'm also having a hard time understanding the classpath concept. I've been under the impression that the classpath was simply the location of the packages and classes of a specific application. How could I check if the audio files are in the classpath?
    Thanks in advance.

I probably should have been more specific in my first post.  I have tried various corrective steps including the ones found at this link.  Below is the network event log entry from the failed attempt to connect.  As you can see, the connecting system can see the hotspot but can't get the hotspot to answer roll call.  It thinks it might be a signal strength issue but in fact it has a strong [all 5 bars] signal.
