Access Port configuration

We have Cisco TelePresence SX10 installed but i am experiencing issues with it...Switchport on switch is configured with main VLAN 40 and Aux VLAN 24..Now when I assign VC unit IP on VLAN 40 static it does not ping at all on the other hand when it is left on DHCP it picks an IP on AUX VLAN 24 and works fine.To further fix the issue I configured port on switch as single access VLAN 40 and it works fine:
Scenario1 :
Switchport on main VLAN 40 and AUX VLAN 24: VC with IP from VLAN 40 static---Result: ping fails.
Scenario2:
Switchport on main VLAN 40 and AUX VLAN 24: VC on DHCP picks IP from VLAN 24 since VLAN 40 has no DHCP scope defined--Result: ping works
Scenario3:
Switchport on main VLAN 40 and no AUX VLAN 24: VC with IP from VLAN 40 static---Result: ping works.
Any ideas as to what is wrong in Scenario 1
Thanks
Karan

The Cisco SX10 has a Value for Voice VLAN mode if it is set to auto and cdp(Cisco Discovery protocol) is present in the network the SX10 will use the vlan value provided by CDP to overwrite any manual vlan.

  • What is the recommenden access port QoS configuration for 8900/9900 video enabled phones

    Hi all,
    we are currently starting to roll out some video enabled 9900 and 8900 phones in our network. In the past we did not use video and configured the access ports on our Catalyst 2960 switches with "auto qos voip ciscp-phone". This however creates a policy which does not include a class-map to correctly handle the AF41 video traffic coming from those phones. I have thougth about extending the autoqos policy with a AF41 class-map but am not sure if this is the right way to do it.
    That's what I have in mind:
    class-map match-all AUTOQOS_VIDEO_DATA_CLASS
      match ip dscp af41
    class-map match-all AUTOQOS_VOIP_DATA_CLASS
      match ip dscp ef
    class-map match-all AUTOQOS_DEFAULT_CLASS
      match access-group name AUTOQOS-ACL-DEFAULT
    class-map match-all AUTOQOS_VOIP_SIGNAL_CLASS
      match ip dscp cs3
    policy-map AUTOQOS-SRND4-CISCOPHONE-POLICY
     class AUTOQOS_VOIP_DATA_CLASS
       set dscp ef
      police 128000 8000 exceed-action policed-dscp-transmit
     class AUTOQOS_VIDEO_DATA_CLASS
       set dscp af41
      police 1500000 8000 exceed-action policed-dscp-transmit
     class AUTOQOS_VOIP_SIGNAL_CLASS
       set dscp cs3
      police 32000 8000 exceed-action policed-dscp-transmit
     class AUTOQOS_DEFAULT_CLASS
       set dscp default

    How do you guys do it ? Is there some documentation for this ?
    Thank you for your kind help

    Hi
    You have to keep this table on your mind. Your configuration is fine if your configuration for SD video , but if for HD video , it is not ok you have to change video bandwidth at least 5M.
    Traffic Type
    Layer 2 CoS
    Layer 3 IP Precedence
    Layer 3 DSCP
    Voice RTP1
    5
    5
    EF
    Voice control
    3
    3
    AF31
    Video conference
    4
    4
    AF41
    Streaming video (IP/TV)
    1
    1
    AF13
    Data
    0-2
    0-2
    0-AF23
    *Interactive Video "AF41"- Sensitive but can tolerate packet loss of about 1% and latency almost same as voice.
    *Streaming Video "AF13" - Less sensitive - can tolerate about 4-5% packet loss and latency of about 4-5 seconds.
    *HD video conference will require between 5M to 16M , but SD video conference will use 384K to 1 M
    Note:-Video QOS , if you will assume that your video conference will use around 384K , you have to add 20% because video conference include voice so the total bandwidth 460K.

  • ASA 5505 switch from Mode: access Port to Trunk on the fly via CSM ?

                       Hi
    Can I configure the Port at the ASA 5050 from Mode: access Port to trunk during the FW is running in a production area without console access ?
    As I know at the 5505 ist should work
    sincerley
    Alfred

    Are you using the same access port to access the ASA via CSM? If you are, then i would strongly recommend console access.
    If you are using a different port to make the changes, then yes you can configure it. However, I would still recommend configuring it during non production hour, just in case there is an issue.

  • Can't disable my FTP Access ports!

    Hi. I'm running MacOS X 10.3.9 on a Mac Powerbook with all of Apple's latest Security Updates installed. I did a virgin installation and no other software programs has been installed yet, and I need to find out if my current indicated FTP settings in the built-in Firewall panel is normal or whether maybe my system has been somehow hacked or attacked by an unknown virus.
    In my computer's System Preferences/Sharing/Services panel, all options are currently off, and none of the items are checked. In the System Preferences/Sharing/Firewall panel, all options are also unchecked. But even though I've unchecked all items and they're supposed to be off, my FTP Access port is still showing the description "FTP Access (20-21, 1024-65535 from 20-21). First question - this lengthy description about my ports seem strange. Does everyone else show this same description in Panther, or is it just me?
    But even more strange and bizarre is when I hover my mouse over the same FTP Access description, a balloon notation will pop up with the following information . . .
    . . . "Ports 20 and 21 on your computer are open for FTP. If others connect to your computer from ports 20 and 21, then ports 1024 through 65535 are open. When you turn on FTP Access in the Services pane, you also allow the service access through the firewall on the indicated ports. To stop access through the firewall you must turn off this service using the Services pane." . . .
    Personally, I don't want any ports open on my computer. Therefore this notation seems strange to me, especially considering that all my ports are supposed to be "off", therefore why is this notation still indicating that ports 20 and 21 are open. Even more strange is no matter what I do and no matter what settings I change, I can't alter the configuration of ports 20 and 21 and make them show as closed. I've tried everything, but ports 20 and 21 still remain open no matter what I do, at least according to this message. Question - Is what I'm seeing normal for everyone or are other users showing something different?
    Below is an image of what I'm talking about :

    Thanks in advance. Any help regarding this would be appreciated.

    If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application unistaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • How to create a Access Port in ASR901

    Hi
    I was tried to configured an ASR901 access port for my customer POC in ASR 901 but fail.
    It does not support for switchport access VLAN commad .
    I have suscessful setup a port-channel in ASR901 to the Alcatel switch and the LACP is up and in bundded state.
    The question is how can I configure a access port mode (VLAN 100) in ASR901? The PC will need to
    perform a PC Ping test from the ASR901 access port to the ALU Access port via the port-channel that I have configured.
    I try to plug in my PC to the port Gi0/4 then run the Ping test from my PC to another PC that connected to Alcatel switch but fail as well.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you got error when communicating to the server.
    This happens when crawler is not able to connect to the server. Make sure server name is correct. Couple of steps to troubleshoot it
    You should be able to ping the server from the server having crawl component. Make sure there is an entry for the server in the host file under c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc folder.
              Ping <servername>
          2.  You should be able to connect to the server using telnet command
    Telnet< servername> <port number>
    More information:
    Troubleshooting of FAST Search Configuration
    If the issue still exists, you can delete the old search application and recreate from the beginning.

  • Can't run form from Form Builder 10g - Port configuration problem?

    Hi,
    I have installed the Database (10.2.0.1.0) and the Developer Suite (10.1.2.0.2) on two Linux machines (Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 4 Basic).
    If I enter the frmservlet-URL manually everything seems to be fine.
    In one case I enter http://127.0.0.1:8890/forms/frmservlet, in the other http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet; in BOTH cases I get eventually a dark square and the status bar says "Applet oracle.forms.engine.Main started".
    HOWEVER, if I create a simple form with Form Builder and click on the Button with the green traffic light ("Run Form"), the form runs only on the machine where frmservlet listens on port 8890.
    On the other machine (frmservlet configured to listen on port 8889) Firefox pops up, the URL "http://127.0.0.1:32979/6dOrpwghCqnp8PhMT7KVT533m3IaArqFbPqPBOztZXWYSsNy" gets called, and nothing else happens. The screen displays the string "ORACLE FORMS." and the status bar says "Waiting for 127.0.0.1...", and it stays like this forever.
    I assume this is a port configuration problem, but I don't have a clue where to start.
    Any suggestions how I should proceed are greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much in advance!

    Hi Frank,
    Thank you for your reply.
    I doublechecked my configuration.
    In the dialog Edit --> Preferences --> Runtime the Application Server URL is set to "127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet".
    However, when I attempt to run the form, the URL "http://127.0.0.1:33140/W2dwbV9eXS2fPkuKlxNhCxFWdEihwDviat2uV7ycrSotqwDN" gets called.
    The screen displays the string "ORACLE FORMS." and the status bar says "Waiting for 127.0.0.1...", and that's it.
    I wonder how the port number 33140 got selected. Interestingly, this time it is a different number; last time it was port 32979. In fact, the port number seems to change each time; I tried again and now it is 33189.
    I will now try to set the port number for the frmservlet to 8890.
    I choose Edit --> Preferences --> Runtime and set the application server URL to "127.0.0.1:8890/forms/frmservlet".
    I stop the container, open /home/oracle/OraHome_1/j2ee/DevSuite/config/default-web-site.xml and change the port number to 8890:
    <?xml version="1.0" standalone='yes'?>
    <!DOCTYPE web-site PUBLIC "Oracle Application Server 10g XML Web-site" "http://xmlns.oracle.com/ias/dtds/web-site.dtd">
    <!-- change the host name below to your own host name. Localhost will -->
    <!-- not work with clustering -->
    <!-- also add cluster-island attribute as below
    <web-site host="localhost" port="0" protocol="ajp13"
    display-name="Default Oracle Application Server 10g Java WebSite" cluster-island="1" >
    -->
    <web-site port="8890" protocol="http"
    display-name="Oracle Developer Suite 10g instance of Oracle Containers for J2EE Web Site">
    <!-- Uncomment the following line when using clustering -->
         <!-- <frontend host="your_host_name" port="80" /> -->
         <!-- The default web-app for this site, bound to the root -->
         <default-web-app application="default" name="defaultWebApp" root="/j2ee" />
    <!-- Do not delete this line. -->
    <web-app application="forms" name="formsweb" root="/forms" />
    <!-- -->
    <!-- <web-app application="forms" name="formsweb" root="/forms" /> -->
    <web-app application ="reports" name="web" root="/reports" />
    <web-app application = "reports" name="demo" root="/repdemo" />
         <!-- Access Log, where requests are logged to -->
         <access-log path="../log/default-web-access.log" />
    </web-site>
    I restart the container, start Form Builder, connect to the database, and open my test form.
    When attempting to run the form, the URL "http://127.0.0.1:33437/Pl0n3ky9vmU5z37A7ScBnQhsGwq3jwuzJpgTAKWPMOYIzT8K" gets called (again a new port number, apparently picked radomly within a certain range) and nothing happens: "Waiting for 127.0.0.1...".
    However, when I enter the URL http://127.0.0.1:8890/forms/frmservlet I do (eventually, after confirming that I trust the certificate etc.) get a darc rectangle and the status message "Applet oracle.forms.engine.Main started", which tells me that my setup can't be that far off target.
    Here is the output of netstat:

  • Changing port configuration with Event Manager

    Hello,
    I'm trying to change the configuration of a port when the port goes down with EEM.
    So when an flex connect access-point is disconnected the port becomes an access-port.
    I don't want to use the MAC address.
    Does anyone has experience with this.
    Below is the applet I'm using.
    Thanks in advanced,
    Michel
    event manager applet CONFIG-ACCESS-PORT
     event neighbor-discovery interface regexp "(FastEthernet[0-9]\/[0-9]+)" cdp delete
     action 100 regexp "(AIR-LAP)" "$_nd_cdp_platform" value

     action 210 cli command "config t"
     action 220 cli command "interface $_nd_local_intf_name"
     action 240 cli command "switchport mode access"

    Hi Evan,
    For sure! There is a really good example on the configuration guide, and assciated caveats.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/7.4/configuration/guides/consolidated/b_cg74_CONSOLIDATED_chapter_0100011.html
    Benefits for using LAG is increased bandwidth, and redundancy - especially if you have the two (or more in the case of a 5508 WLC) ports connected to different physical switches, eg a 3750 stack.
    Best,
    Evan

  • Disable snmp trap link-status only on access ports?

    Hello,
    I am searching for a way to disable the snmp trap link-status only on access ports.
    The problem is that we have a lot of new devices which have no port scheme, so I can't say that everytime the router uplink on a switch is on port X or Y.
    So I have to figure out where my uplinks to routers, accesspoints or other switches are and set all other ports to
    no snmp trap link-status
    no logging event link-status
    spanning-tree portfast
    Campus Manager knows the uplinks between the devices, but there is no way to perform such a change, right?
    The next problem is, that there is nothing configured on the ports, so I can't search for a string by using compliance check in RME.
    Is there any posibility to get the topology informations from CM together with the configuration feature from RME?
    Thanks a lot!
    Sven

    Hello,
    thanks for your reply.
    I thought of something like you wrote...
    There is a best practice report for disabling cdp on access ports.
    Creating this report for a switch and click on "fix" the CM will configure the command "no cdp enable" on every access port.
    So I will have a difference between uplinks and access ports.
    The problem with that solution is, that I can't fix all my switches with one job.
    And with >1000 switches it is not really possible to click every device.
    Any further advice?
    Thanks!
    Sven

  • How to monitor access ports to server on LMS 4.0

    Hi everybody!
    I would like to monitor access ports to servers in cases:
    - When port to server down, alert appears in Fault Monitor panel
    - Monitor when bandwidth utilization of access ports exceeds 60%.
    I configured Fault Threshold on DFM>System Defined Groups>Access port Settings and Poller settings on the same group but it did not work when I shut a port to server.
    Please help me!
    Thanks and Best Regards

    By default Fault monitor manages Trunk Ports. You can check if the interface you worked on is managed :
    Monitor > Fault Settings: Setup > Fault Device Details
    You can check if the port/interface shows true as managed, which you tested.

  • GE1/1/1 and GE1/1/2 ports on 3750 can be used as access port instead of trunk

    Customer wants to plug in Server to spare GE1/1/1 and GE1/1/2 port on 3750 switch.
    I was under impression those ports are designed for trunk only
     is Cisco recommend to use GE1/1/1 and GE1/1/2 as access port instead of trunk ?
    If we configure those ports as access ports, is there going to be any impact ?

    Logically, those ports can be configured like any other.
    Physically, of course, they are SFP and also physically they may have additional physical RAM buffer space to share between them.  (The latter is often useful for very busy ports, such as when used as uplinks/downlinks.)

  • 7304 nse100 FE Management Port configuration question

    How can the F0/0 FE Management Port be used? Since the 7304 has a redundant NSE100 prossesor card I would like to use this port two ways as a remote router access port for management and as a standard FastEthernet interface. Is configuration and advertising of the interface IP address the same as standard FastEthernet interfaces?

    The FastEthernet port on the Cisco 7304 is for management purposes only. Any other use of the FastEthernet port is not supported. This statement is according to the configuration notes of 7304.So, it cannot be used as a standard GE port.

  • Trunk port vs Access port speed

    I am setting up a 4900M for a temporary training class, for 1Gb connected client PCs.  I used a 10Gb interface with an X2-10G-SR which will connect via 62.5 micron fiber, to a 4948 10Gb interface with an SFP-10Gb-SR.  As for the config, I have the 4900M te1/1 setup as an access port to the 4948.  The connectivity is fine, as is the routing.  But when we use the client PCs disk connectivity (connecting to 10Gb storage) we get great read speeds but when it tries writing it slows down and eventually errors out.
    Question 1:  Would it make a difference if the 4900M was connected via a trunk port to the 4948?
    I believe the issue is the length of the 62.5 fiber, and the maximum transmit\receive length of the transceivers, but I want to rule out the switchport configuration.

    Thanks.  You were correct, as changing the port configuration from access to trunk produced the same R/W speeds.  The issue was with the fiber run being too long for the SR trancievers.

  • Access Point configuration for flat network

    We have recently aquired a remote location which has a pre-existing flat network (172.16.X.X/16). Before we are able to convert them over to our new IP scheme, they have a need to have wireless connectivity on site. We have 4 1142's which I need to configure for them. I have experience configuring WLC's and autonomous AP's for networks with multiple vlans but have never configured AP's for a flat, single subnet network. I need to configure them for either guest access (internet only) or corporate access to network resources with radius authentication. Do I configure a native vlan as I would for a typical multi vlan network? Do I configure the switch port as an access port as opposed to a trunk beacause of the lack of layer 3? I basically need a sample configuration for this situation.

    since you are on flat network, you just need to configure the SSID, no need for subinterfaces.  With the AP only servicing the one VLAN you can leave the port as an access port as well.
    as they are on the only subnet, I wouldn't do a 'guest' SSID.  I would go with just the corporate SSID with WPA2/AES/802.1x.  So the config is exactly the same for the RADIUS server and the SSID, but greatly simplified since you don't have to sub-interface anything.

  • Wap200 wireless access point configuration

    hi guys
    I have a wap200 wireless access point configured and connected to the switch 2690 switch on vlan1, when I connect the wireless access points to the switch the port become disabled, is there a way to overcme this problem.
    thank you

    Hi Senzo.
    Do you know the reason for the port becoming disabled? Can you run a "show int status err" on the switch and see if it give a reason for the port shutting down?
