  • I have and Access is denied. You do not have sufficient privileges in CS4 error message when trying to change a directory name in CS4

Hi I keep getting this message in CS4 (access is denied. You do not have sufficient privileges)
Can anyone help to gain privileges?
    Daryl

Same problem here...nothing in my settings have changed since the upgrade and I've checked my cookie settings and they allow 3rd party cookies. What's up Mozilla? I've been faithful to you for years and you let me down now?

  • "you do not have appropriate access privileges" - WHAT??

I did something to corrupt the operating system on my MAC G5. I had some things I really didn't want to loose on the main hard drive specifically - my iCAL, my iWeb, and my email. I had some other things on the desktop also.
A friend helped me to recover the system. Their suggestion was to copy all my main USER files onto an external drive, reformat the MAC Hard drive and then copy the USER file over to the machine again using the same short name I did before and setting that account to be an Admin.
I did that and now when I try to write to the internal hard drives I get the message "you do not have appropriate access privileges" or file error access denied. But I can write to any of the external hard drives.
I cannot figure out how to fix this. I deleted the USER/USER NAME (my old one)/Library/Keychain/login/login key and that didn't solve the problem.
Could it be that I need to reseat the internal hard drive??? or do I need to do something under keychain for the main computer and not the two user files I have in there now??
I was trying to do something really simple like copy a jpg file someone sent me to the internal HD and it wouldn't let me.
I appreciate your help. Every time I have posted a question, someone has helped and I really appreciate it. I searched the database for a similar problem but couldn't find it.

If you still have the User folder you copied to the external, instead of dragging it back which I think is causing problems with permissions, how about reinstall your OS using the Install disks on the internal, and then from their respective applications import just those particulars you wanted to keep.
For example if you dragged back the file com.apple.Mail.plist back to its home location in ~/Library/Preferences your Mail should connect as before. Then, in Mail you can then import your externally copied Mailboxes.
That's how I would have gone about it if it was a case of scavenging what I could of a corrupted boot drive. Maybe you can still do it this way.
Dragging a (User) folder onto an OS won't satisfy the OS that this is a valid user, rather just a confusing thing to deal with. I know it seems a simple thing to do but the OS just doesn't get it. It prefers having the User account set up in itself, and then it knows about it.

  • SSL VPN message "This (client) machine does not have the web access privilege."

    Hello!
I am trying to configure the SSL VPN (WebVPN) and I am almost done but when clicking on the URL's I configured in the bookmarks, I get the message "This (client) machine does not have the web access privilege. Please contact your SSLVPN provider for assistance." I looked through the many tutorials and guides in existence and none talks about such error and the fix for it. In fact, if I search the net for this error message I get only one match, in the Cisco website, where is say that "The client computer does not meet the security criteria of having web access functionality through the SSL VPN gateway." and as fix it gave this tip "Check the URL to the gateway or contact the administrator if it persists." So, nothing on the website about what this issue is and how to fix it. I will provide my IOS configuration and hopefully someone will spot the issue. Here it goes:

  • Error Code: -2147024891 (Access is denied)

    Hi
I've just installed a new SCOM 2007 R2 server and I added some servers to it, but only in all the Windows 2008 servers that have Exchange 2007 SP3 I can not install the SCOM agent, even if I try to manually install the agent, raise this error and
the installation rolls back, this is the screen:
I tried to follow this link to solve the problem:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/44192faa-12cc-4bd7-9605-0d9ae1444f37/scom-2007-r2-error-25211-failed-to-install-performance-counters-error-code-2147024891-access?forum=operationsmanagergeneral
But when I try to rebuild the counters with lodctr /r, but I have the response "Error: Unable to rebuild performance counter setting from system backup store, error code is 5", the most rare is that
I used the domain admin user and the local admin user, so I don't know what permission it's necessary to install or rebuild the counters.
No one process is using the counters, so may be the problem could be permissions, but this is not sense to me cause I'm using the highest privileges account in the domain...

    Hi Alexis
Thanks for the tip, but did not work, the run as administrator was done before, and the error 5 still is raising...  :(
When I ran lodctr /r (with "Run As Administrator") in the application Event Viewer raise this about LoadPerf:
3001: The performance counter name string value in the registry is not formatted correctly. The malformed string is 2182. The first DWORD in the Data section contains the index value

Attempting to rename, for example, Image-57E66CC6A02011D9.jpg at the root of my home folder produces the error message "You do not have sufficient access privileges".
I tried repairing permissions with Disk Utility -- it completed successfully, but the problem remains.
I tried restarting with the Leopard Install DVD and doing the Reset Password > reset ACLs thing for all user accounts on the computer but the problem remains.
    When I execute
sudo chmod -R +a "everyone deny delete" ~/
chmod responds with "Operation not permitted" on hundreds of files. For example:
chmod: Failed to set ACL on file 'Application Data': Operation not permitted
    When I next execute
sudo chmod -R -a "everyone deny delete" ~/
    chmod responds with
    chmod: No ACL present
    When I execute
    sudo chown -R `id -u`:`id -g` /Users/`id -un`
chown responds with "Operation not permitted" on hundreds of files. For example:
    chown: /Users/myusername/Music/b/Beck/1993 Loser (CD Single)/05 - Fume - Beck - 1993 Loser (CD Single).mp3: Operation not permitted
iMac is new in December 2007 and I used Migration Assistant to migrate files from a Mac Mini running 10.4. The iMac with the permissions problem also received files from an NTFS filesystem (Windows XP SP2).
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Thanks, Scott. I executed
    sudo chflags -R nouchg ~/
    and
    sudo chown -R myusername:staff ~/
(replacing myusername with my user name)
and in each case there was a delay of a number of seconds and then the command prompt returned -- no errors. However, my renaming problem still exists.
    Just fyi, I got
    sudo chown -R `id -u`:`id -g` /Users/`id -un`

The list of commands in petrock's post of Feb 1, 2008 12:11 AM ("Re: if you have problems with ACL") did not work for me. I think they made things worse because now I'm being prompted to enter my password when doing simple things like deleting files when before it hadn't. I think this is because the list of commands did not all complete successfully -- it's not clear what to do if you encounter "operation not permitted" or "no ACL present".
And, I don't know if this is relevant, but before this I resolved some permissions problems in this thread:

  • Dynamic Send Port : The FILE send adapter cannot open file C:\Temp for writing. Details: Access is denied.

    Hi All,
We have requirement of using ESB toolkit and transforming incoming xml file to edi format. So, we are using ItinerarySelectReceiveXML pipeline for receiving the input from the input location and "EDISend" pipeline for transforming it into EDI and
    send it to destination.
Now, the receive pipeline is picking up the file, but it is not processed and sent to destination.
And, we are getting an Access Denied error from Dynamic send port.
    Error Description :
The FILE send adapter cannot open file C:\Users\Public\Temp for writing.
     Details: Access is denied.
    Any Immediate solutions/suggestions are appreciated...Thanks.
    Anand

The difference between dynamic and static port would be send handler. For dynamic port, default send handler will be used and for static port the one configured on the port will be used, could you validate this configuration.
Also sometimes, administrative privileges are not "real" administrative privileges and company admins will have limited permissions on C Drive folders. Try writing to some other folder to isolate the issue.

  • Sufficient access privileges?

OK, this is driving me nuts. I upgraded to Leopard a month ago and all of a sudden I have lost privileges.
I had moved the local files from all of my web sites to the "Sites" folder under my user account. Yesterday, I was going to make a copy of one of the folder for one of the sites so I could do a redesign.
I copied the folder to my desktop and tried to rename it, but I go the following error message: "You do not have sufficient access privileges to rename the item 'Jan's Web Site.'"
Now, I am the administrator and this is MY account. I have walked my way up the directory up to "Users" folder, changing the file permissions to "Read & Write" for everyone and nothing changes. I still cannot change the name of that file.
Can someone help me regain control of my Mac?
    Thanks in advance,
    - Paul

The problem should be relatively easy to fix, though some use of the command line is required. For a given "standard" folder and its contents, the steps consist of removing all ACLs, optionally adjusting permissions, then restoring the original ACE just to the top level folder.
You don't want to remove all ACLs from your home directory, that will screw up the permissions (for example) on your Drop Box which has a special ACL on it to setup the owner of the drop box to have Read&Write privs on any file/folder copied into it.
There are two ways to solve this. One is via Terminal and one is via the Reset Password utility on the Leopard Install DVD. For those who aren't very skilled with Terminal, I would recommend the Reset Password utility.
    1) boot from your Leopard install CD.
    2) Choose your language.
    3) When the menubar appears, select Utilities->Reset Password.
    4) In the window that appears, select your boot volume from the list at the top.
    5) In the popup button below the volume list, select your user from the list.
    6) Click the "Reset" button at the bottom of the window. This will reset the privs back to their default settings.
    7) Repeat Steps 5 & 6 for every user on your machine who has this problem (except root).
    That should clean things up.
Here is how you would do it in Terminal, which (unlike the Reset Password Utility) won't effect any specific changes you may have made to your permissions (like adding another user or giving some other user different privs then the default Read-Only).
*sudo chmod -R +a "everyone deny delete" ~/* +Note: 'sudo' will cause it to ask for your admin password, but when you type it will not show the text. This is normal. Just make sure you type your password correctly. This command will add the 'every deny delete' ACL to everything inside your home directory. This is done so that the next command will succeed. If the next command encounters a file/folder that doesn't have this ACL on it, it will fail and bail out, ultimately leaving your home directory half fixed.+
*sudo chmod -R -a "everyone deny delete" ~/* +Note: This will remove the 'everyone deny delete' ACL from all files and folders in your home directory, the next command will add it back to where it needs to be+
*sudo chmod +a "everyone deny delete" ~/ ~/Desktop ~/Documents ~/Downloads ~/Library ~/Movies ~/Music ~/Pictures ~/Public ~/Sites* +Note: This only applies the 'everyone deny delete' ACE to the folders listed, not their contents. These folders are required by the system, this ACE prevents you (or anyone else) from renaming, moving or deleting them (because they are required by the OS).+
Just copy/paste the bold text, one at a time, into a Terminal window and press return. That should do it. Good luck...

  • STSADM Restore error : Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

    3. I'm part of the local admin group on the server running CA and DB.
I know I may have given too much privilege - but I'm sick of seeing this access denied error. As far as I'm concerned permission-wise nothing has been changed from my last successful restore except the fact that I'm overwriting the site collection this time.
I also tried with a fresh DAT file to restore with no luck.
If someone can give me some other thoughts I would very much appreciate that.
    Many thanks in advance -

    Hi,
From your description, it should be the permission issue.
Make sure you logon with an account that have administrator privilege to start the service.
And then open the command prompt with administrator, run this command:

  • When I login to my bank, I get the message: 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied. Have new MacBook Air with Yosemite. How to solve this problem?

When I try to login to the website of my bank, I get the following error message:
403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.
I have a new MacBook Air with OS Yosemite installed.
What is the problem and how can I solve it?

Some websites require a special client certficate for access. If you don't have that certficate, you'll have to contact the site operator to find out how to get one.
Sometimes the problem is caused by a web server that is configured to request an optional client certificate. Safari treats the request as mandatory. In that case, other browsers such as Firefox and Chrome may be able to connect to the site, because they ignore the request.
The first time you were prompted for a certificate, you may have clicked through a dialog that requested access to the Apple certificate in your keychain that is used to secure the iMessage service. In that case, you may be able to regain access to the site in Safari by doing as follows.
    Back up all data.
Double-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    com.apple.idms.appleid.prd
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Paste into the search field in the Keychain Access window by clicking in it and pressing the key combination command-V. An item may appear in the list of keychain items. The Name will begin with string you searched for, and the Kind will be "certificate."
Delete the item by selecting it and pressing the delete key. It will be recreated automatically the next time you launch the Messages or FaceTime application.
The next time you visit a site that prompts for an optional client certificate, cancel out of the prompt. You may have to do this several times before the server stops asking.

Also, not that you shouldn't get to the bottom of this, but you should be aware that any of your development or mapping changes are likely still being saved to the respository.
In other words, you could continue working and just ignore these errors. We ran into this situation (it was indeed simply file permissions on the owb directories), but we noticed right away that at least our actual OWB work was in fact still being committed to the respository every time.

    "You can't fix stupid!"

I'm having the exact same issue.  I'm using AutoIT for my script to move the computer account.  I've tried using ADO, LDAP, and LDAP/ADSystemInfo object.  They all fail with access denied.  In fact the ADO version of my script fails just
trying to create the "ADODB.Connection" object which I know for a fact doesn't require elevation or administrator access.  However, all three versions of the script work correctly when run manually outside the TS.  They also work correctly on XP
machines during OSD.  Only when deploying a Win7 machine do they fail during the TS.  I've tried adding the runas user to the local administrators group beforehand but no dice.  Did you have to restart the computer after doing the net localgroup
change?  There has to be some other security config in Win7 that is set somewhere doing this.  I just can't figure out what.  I've even started looking at DCOM/COM permissions to see if something isn't right there.
I don't see why but maybe the script needs to be run locally?  Any other ideas?
