Access Privileges iPhoto synch

"The iPod cannot be updated. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
Once I disabled the iPhoto synch, no problem.
(+Enable disk use +all contacts +all calendars +all Podcasts +all Videos)
I keep iPhoto on the same disk as my iTunes, but neither are in my HOME...district?
I do share my iPhoto library, and there is more than one person who imports pictures. But I have complete control within iPhoto of all albums, etc.

Got a fix that worked for me. I downloaded the iPod software updater from 10-12-2005 from here: http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
I restored the Apple and when I synced it, it worked!
Good Luck!

  • Can't set up an iPhoto library on external hard drive: access privileges

    Hi all
I am trying to set up an extra iPhoto library on an external hard-drive to store some of my photos.
I get the following message: 'iPhoto cannot create a new library in this location because you do not have enough access privileges.'
The external hard drive is Formatted: Mac OS Extended (Journaled), is 500g capacity and is empty. Also 'Ignore ownership on this volume' is ticked.
I am the administrator of this computer (imac) which is running Yosemite 10.10.1
Any clues as to what I need to do to make this happen? I'm not much of a techie!
    Cheers
    Finella

Once you've confirmed that the EHD is formatted correctly and all is well (run Disk Utility and repair the disk) try the following to create an almost "duplicate"  library on the EHD:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.>Click on the Add Library button,
2 -  select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
3 - make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox  "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked.
4 - now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
5 - in the next  window name the new library and select the EHD as the location where you want it to be placed. Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2:  Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

  • IPhoto Access Privileges

    Hi
I hope there is a simple answer to this one for a Pages newbie.
I have been following a tutorial in MacUser to make a photo cube in Pages. When trying to import some images using the media browser I get the message 'The image file IMG_XXXX.JPG can't be used because you don't have access privileges, or because it has no content or it is corrupted'. This is happening on the majority (but not all) of the pictures I am trying to import.
I have repaired permissions, checked out the ownership (I am the only user of the machine) and had a quick look around the discussion boards to no avail.
I can drag the photos from Aperture without a problem so I am guessing it may be an iPhoto problem - will duplicate this post on that forum.
Does anyone have a fix please? Any and all help appreciated.
    Thanks for looking

    Hi Brie
Thanks for the response. Yes - I should have said, all pictures are in iPhoto and in the same user account .
I think I have solved it...well sort of.
I dragged the iPhoto library to the desktop and then relaunched iPhoto. It gave a message something like 'no libraries found' so I clicked to create a new library and dragged the folder into iPhoto.
Whilst I lost all my albums it should be fairly easy to recreate them.
    Thanks

  • Ipad cannot synch -- not enough access privileges?

Help!  I have not been able to synch my ipad for awhile now because I get a message that it cannot be synched because I do not have enough access privileges for this operation.  It used to work until my hard drive crashed and was replaced.  Help!

Figured this one out with some help.  Awhile ago  I had to replace my hard drive and had iTunes stored on my back up drive.  When I reinstalled the back up drive, it did not put it back in the same place.  So the iPad was looking for the old directory and could not find the new one.  Luckily everything is matched in the Cloud so it may be easier to just redownload it from there?

  • Nano iPhoto Access Privileges?

    Hi,
Trying to sync ipod nano to an iPhoto album, and getting a box with error "The iPod "[name]" cannot be updated. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation"
It's my iPod, logged in to my itunes 6. I'm the administrator of the mac. The iPhoto is also "my" library. I have the options turned on to share my photos.
If I try to sync the "pictures" folder, it starts converting the 8,000+ photos, but I just want one or two albums, not the whole library.
Seems like some problem with iTunes talking to iPhoto, but I'm not sure.
    Appreciate any help,
    Thanks,
    Dave
      Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Hi David,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
    Couple of things to try:
    1. With the nano connected to your mac and iTunes open click on the iPod icon bottom right. Select the Photos tab and then the 'Copy selected albums only'. Choose the albums you want on the nano.
    2. If that doesn't fix the access privileges then Disk Utility, Repair Disk Permission is another thing to try.

  • TS3697 The iPhone cannot be synched..You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.

While trying to sync photos between my iTunes on windows with a new iPhone I get this err message: The iPhone "Your iPhone" cannot be synced. You do not enough access privileges for this operation. How can I correct this?

Try creating a folder in a different location (outside of the Pictures library such as on your desktop), copying the pictures you want to sync to this folder, then syncing this folder to your phone by selecting to do so on the Photos tab of your iTune sync settings.  If you still get this error try disabling your anti-virus software and syncing. If still having problems try deleting the iPod Photo Cache folder, usually located in your Pictures library.

  • HT201413 This error message will pop up "You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" when I'm trying to download updates.

I have had itunes on my computer for a while now and was working beautifully. I had a new printer installed by a tech guy with had to do something to windows 7 to get it to print correctly. Now itunes is acting up. When I try to download updates or sync with my iPad I get an error message saying "You do not have enough access privileges for this operation". Can anyone help?

I'm assuming you are synching to a Mac via iTunes? If so, you need to fix and reset your disk permissions using the Disk Utility app on the Mac.

  • I have installed ACDSee Pro3 and have problem to transfer photofiles from device: I got the message; The item could not be edited because you do not have sufficent access privileges or destination volume is no longer available." What can I do?

I have installed ACDSee Pro3 and have problem to transfer photofiles from device: I got the message; The item could not be edited because you do not have sufficent access privileges or destination volume is no longer available." What can I do?

Ask the ACDSee Pro support personnel.
With iPhoto that message means the library is a referenced library (photo not copied when imported into iPhoto's structure) and the source file is not where it was when first added to the library.  I don't know how ACDSee works. Does it have a referenced mode as opposed to copying photos into its structure?

  • Error message: "The media can't be used because you don't have access privileges, or because it has no content or is corrupt."

I get the error message "The media can’t be used because you don’t have access privileges, or because it has no content or is corrupt." when I drag photos (or copy and paste photos) from iPhoto to Pages/Word.
It never used to do this and is really quite annoying, as I now have to find the file through finder to drag from there.
I had to rebuild the iPhoto library a few days ago, is it something to do with this?
    Thanks in advance.

Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Error Message iPhone cannot be synced, not enough access privileges

I have a dual boot WinXP Pro & Vista Ultimate laptop (ThinkPad X60) on separate HDDs. Have loaded iTunes 8.02 on both drives in both OS's. No problem synching my iPhone in iTunes in WinXP. However, in Vista, I can back up, but cannot synch, the iPhone (which is a 3G, acquired in August 2008, and it has Software 2.2). This message repeatedly appears: "The iPhone "[name of phone]" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation." Have used Windows Explorer, gone to the iTunes folder in \Users, and taken ownership of it and installed "full control," but that hasn't helped. Have reinstalled iTunes. That hasn't helped. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

  • How do I restore "staff" access privileges?

Safari, mail, software update and backing up my ipad are not behaving properly. I think that's because I screwed up access privileges on some files, trying to allow access to two user logins. I'm trying to restore them, by copying the privileges I see on my Macbook, but I don't see how to include the system-provide "staff" group.
    Help would be appreciated.

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
This is not necessarily a permissions issue, but could also be a corrupt library.
To repair permissions in the iPhoto Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. You'll see the option to check and repair Library permissions.
If that doesn't help, what version of iphoto do you have? Assuming 09 or later...
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • HELP! trying to transfer purchases from my iPad but keep getting: "you do not have enough access privileges for this operation" message

I recently had a hard drive crash and lost almost everything except for what I managed to save on Carbonite. When I got the new hard drive, I updated to Lion and began the laborious process of restoring my files. I think it is up to 40% done.
Anyway, I went to try to transfer my purchases from my iPad2 (4.3.3) and received the message:  "You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" followed by: "Attempting to copy to Hard drive failed. You do not have enough access priviledges for this operation."
So, I did a search on the problem and have found similar complaints and some reasonable suggestions, which I attempted without success. So far I have:
    1) Rebooted
    2) Changed all the Permissions on the iPhoto Library and iTunes folders to Read & Write.
    3) Used Disk Utility to Verify & Repair permissions.
    Nothing is working.
    HELP!

Had the same thing happen to me a few weeks back when I switched computers and migrated.  Here's what worked on my iMac, so maybe it'll work on your iPad, too.  Go to User(your home folder)/Music.  Select/highlight your "Music" folder.  Then do Command-I ("Get Info" from the File menu), click on the padlock icon in the lower right of the new window.  Enter your user password.  Click on your username just above the now-open padlock.  Select "Read & Write" if it's on "Read Only," "Write Only," or "No Access."  Now having your user account with "Read & Write" privileges (it may have been this way already; still do this next step), click on the gear on the bottom-center of that window.  Click on "Apply to all enclosed items."  When the pop-up says "Are you sure?" (or the equivalent), say "yes."  This will grant access privileges to your user account for all the music files inside your music folder--all your iTunes stuff included).  Then you should be good to go.

  • Media can't be used because you don't have access privileges

Why is it that I cannot drag across an image from iphotos which I have previously photo streamed across from my iphone 5?  I keep getting the following message "The media can't be used because you don't have access privileges, or because it has no content or is corrupt"

What version of iPhoto? How are you moving photos? Have you read this user tip on accessing your photos?

  • I am receiving the message Media can't be used because you don't have access privileges or because it has no content or is corrupt.

I am receiving the message "Media can't be used because you don't have access privileges or because it has no content or is corrupt."  In the recent past, I have been able to drag photos from iPhoto into Pages or Text Edit.  I can drag photos from some photo events, but not from the photos I have recently used in a DVD project.  I did drag photos from Pintrest into my iPhoto to use in the DVD project, but didn't see copyright info attached to any of those.  Could this be the problem?

As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?
If it doesn't then you need to repair your original library by applying the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.

  • Restore from back-up now "The media can't be used because you don't have access privileges...."

My wife bought a new MBA and restored from back-up. Now when she tries to drag a photo from iPhoto into a Pages document, she get's the error "The media can't be used because you don't have access privileges, or because it has no content or is corrupt". Interestingly, there is no problem dragging the photo into the finder.

What versoin of iPhoto and system are you running - 9.4.3 and 10.8 4?  How did you restore from the backup? Are you able to view the photos when you double click on them in iPhoto?  If not what do you see?
If I've guessed the versions correctly Apply the following fix to your library:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Options #1 to repair permissions and #4 to rebuild the database.
