Access rights - heavy issue

I have managed to somehow partly corrupt the access rights on my iMac/SnowLeo system.
Getting a lot of failure messages at the start up and some applications are just not working properly anymore.
iTunes for instance does not longer recognize my iPhone - just doesn't - and again I get some strange messages.
Tried to repair access rights be starting OS x from DVD and used hard disk tools (not sure whether it is called exactly this in English - have a German system installed) and used "repair access rights" on the OS volume - seemed to work because a lot has been repaired but after starting iMAC again - same problem.
Now - what can I do to get this fixed on the access rights? Re-install Mac OS x- what would happen with all applications, e-mails etc?
Any idea - help - would be very much appreciated
Robert

Thanks - tried it (and seemed to make a lot of sense) but didn't help at the end :-(
Still same issues
Am not a Mac OS X specialist or UNIX or whatever - actually I am not very familiar with the details of the OS and all its settings etc etc.
However, following some messages, Internet, other sources ---- here's what I have managed to find out:
1) Mac OS starts up - all fine
2) after the desktop / dock is visible I get some similar but in general the following message (trying to translate since they are in German on my installation)
"insecure start objects disabled" - ../Library/StartUpItems/Executor" has not be started since the object does not have the correct security settings
.. I usually get about 10 of them with different "names"(objects) - e.g. "/Executor","/EyeConnect" etc etc.
Now - this all happens on my iMac; I also have a similar configured MacBook and just checked the security setting for exactly these objects on it - the difference is in "share and access rights" on the MacBook has "System" read and write and all others only read - funnily enough - I can not find "System" within "Share and Access rights" on the iMac!!!!
So - next idea: let's add "System" as a user to these folders/shares with "Share and Access rights" - can find a user named "System".
Uh - it seems I have managed to "kill" something on my iMac ..... just don't know how (but that's not so important) and just don't know how to repair - re-installation of Mac OS X on iMac didn't make a lot of changes.
Help appreciated!!!

  • "msvcr100.dll is missing" + "vc++2010 already installed" = "file access right issue" ?

    Hello,
I just have a problem when starting a program in Win8, "msvcr100.dll is missing". This is not a fresh issue so I tried to download and install "VC++ 2010 redistributable package" to solve it. But when I execute the installer,
it told me that I've already installed this (well actually yes, I've installed .NET framework4.5, Visual Studio2010 for C++...).
So I suspect it's a problem of access right in Win8. I've just upgraded from win7 to win8 and I've experienced enough problem about "access right"...
So can anyone tell me what to do? Thanks a lot!
    Léo

    Hi
Firstly, please access to the path to check whether msvcr100.dll is there:C:\Windows\System32
If not, please click the link below to download VC++ 2010:

  • Access rights issue on windows formatted HDD

i have a windows formatted HDD connectd via USB, and there seems to be an access privelidges problem. i can't create folders on it, and can't move/delete "some" files.
is there any way (without connecting it back to a windows PC) to reset the access rights on the drive/folders/files? there is too much data on it for me to re-format it just now (don't have the space to move all the stuff off it).

    Hi Chenks,
this isn't most likely a 'rights' or 'permission' problem rather than that the external HD uses the NTFS file system, which OSX can only read but not write.
Do a right-click on the drive - choose 'Information' to verify if that is the point.
Without a reformatting to a file system that OSX can rad and write, either HFS+ (when using exclusively with Mac) or FAT32 (when using it with Mac and PC), your only choice is to use MacFuse http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/

  • OAM- "You do not have sufficient access rights" message with Master Admin

Customer has configured the OAM system to have both the primary and the secondary side for failover purposes. The back end directory server on both systems are in sync. The primary side of the systems works well as far as this issue is concerned.
On the secondary side, if you login with the MASTER administrator of the system and click 'Identity System Console' or click any of the configurations under the Configurations in the User Manager, you get the error message saying "You do not have sufficient access rights". However, if they navigate to the Access system on the same browser and access the "Access System Console", and then navigate back to the Identity system, the Master Administrative rights are granted and now have a full access to the system.
We tried following things to resolve the issue, but could not resolve it:
    1) Tried deleting 'cookieencryptionkey' which is found under "obcontainerid=encryptionkey,o=oblix" and restarted both the Identity Servers.
    2) Confirmed that the OAM administrator is present in cn=Web Masters,o=Oblix,<> and cn=Directory Administrators,o=Oblix,<> from the LDAP.
    3) Under the apps=PSC node, checked the Advance Properties for the 'obuniquememberStr' attribute:
    - Master Web Resource Admins (cn=master web resource admins, obapp=PSC, o=oblix, ...)
Made sure that the values for the 'obuniquememberStr' attribute has the correct value there.
    4) Reconfigured the Secondary Identity Server.
None of the above really helped to resolve the issue.
Could anybody please help here to get rid of this issue.
    -Amol

    Hi Vinod,
Here is the customer's response to your above 2 questions:
    1. We have 4 Directory server profiles for Identity servers; one for user data and one for configuration data for each server.
I have at least reduced them to two and used only the ones initially used by the primary identity server as our user and configuration data do not reside together. User data is consumed via OVD.
However, this does not seem to have any effect on the current behavior.
    2. All components except for the access server are on 10.1.4.2 and the access server is on 10.1.4.1

I checked the OVD logs but did not find any error in it. Customer also tried to unprotect the /identity and /access URLs but the issue persist.
Also I do not feel this as a bug, because this environment was working quite for few months without any such issues, also there were no changes made on the OVD/AD configurations. However, the server that hosts the OVD/AD was shut down and when it was restarted, we started experiencing this issue.

  • Using PowerShell to set Custom Access Rights on a Calendar Does not set Free/Busy Permissions

We recently discovered an issue where, if you use Exchange Management Shell to configure custom access rights, the Free/Busy permissions do not get set at all (they remain as "None"):
    $temp = [Microsoft.Exchange.Management.StoreTasks.MailboxFolderAccessRight[]]("ReadItems","EditOwnedItems","DeleteOwnedItems","EditAllItems","DeleteAllItems","FolderVisible")
Add-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity "conf-company-test:\calendar" -User "Company Calendar Management" -AccessRights $temp
Add-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity "conf-company-test:\calendar" -User "mpinkston" -AccessRights Editor
If you use a pre-defined "role" such as Editor given to mpinkston6 in the above example it sets the Free/Busy permission to Full Details. It would appear that using Add-MailboxFolderPermission or Set-MailboxFolderPermission is generic for folder
objects, and doesn't explicitly set the Free/Busy permissions. In the case of the pre-defined roles either the command is doing something special/different, or the permission checks later accept pre-defined roles for determining Free/Busy permissions. No idea
which is going on. If Free/Busy permissions can be fixed through PowerShell by some other mechanism/command, that would be great. If not, how do we go about requesting a fix/feature change in Exchange?
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd298062%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx
(Please expand Parameters and read AccessRights to get a better understanding for what I'm describing.)

Did you try adding AvailabilityOnly or LimitedDetails in your $temp variable for Calendar folder? These would set it to "Free/Busy time, subject, location" or "Free/Busy time" respectively....
    Add-MailboxFolderPermission - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd298062(v=exchg.150).aspx
The following roles apply specifically to calendar folders:
    AvailabilityOnly   View only availability data
LimitedDetails   View availability data with subject and location

  • Problems Managing User Access Rights for Web Gallery

Has anyone else had issues changing the user access rights for a web gallery? It seems like the access is everyone or no one. Are the user rights handled per event in the gallery? I had issues adding events to the user's view/download rights in the publish settings.
Also, can these settings only be set when an event is first published? Attempting to change the user access rights after the event is published seems to require a re-upload of the images.
    Any thoughts?

  • Overruling inherited access rights does not work properly

    Hello everybody,
I have encountered an issue when I tried to overrule "Home" level access rights on SSRS (Verion 2009.0100.1600.01).
The situation is as that there is a third party company which has to setup and edit reports. I created a folder for them and edited security settings there. I confirmed to have different security settings than on parent "Home" level as the third
party should not have access to the other reports.
I added the user and assigned "Content Manager" role.
After that he was able to access the folder, upload reports and data sources.
BUT: He is not able to edit reports or sources. He always gets the message:
The permissions granted to user 'XY' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied) Get Online Help
I assigned all roles but this did not help.
Test showed that if the user has the rights inherited from "Home" (added there with Content Manager role) he can edit the reports he uploaded. But in this case he has also access to all other folders (as the inherit also security settings from
    "Home").
Is it not possible with SSRS to set it up the way I planned? Thanks in advance for any help!
    Br,
    Karsten

    Hi Karsten,
In Reporting Services, the Content Manager role is a predefined role who has full permission to manage report server content, including the ability to grant permissions to other users, and to define the folder structure for storing reports and other items.
It contains Manage data sources and Manage reports tasks.
Besides, if the user has the rights inherited from "Home”, he will have all permissions inherited from “Home” permissions. If we click the “Edit Item Security” button, then we can assign some particular permissions for the user.
In your scenario, it seems that someone had modify tasks for this predefined role in SQL Server Management Studio. Please change it back. In order to allow the user can only access to the folder, we should create a role with Manage reports task
in the SSMS, then assign the user with the role in the parent folders. For more details about how to Create, Delete, or Modify a Role in SQL Server Management Studio, please see:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-IN/library/ms156293.aspx
If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Insufficient Access Rights when trying to modify send as permissions on a public folder

Where I work, we have 2 mailbox database servers and 2 cas servers on Exchange 2010, upgraded from Exchange 2003. We are finding that when trying to grant a user send as rights to a publlic folder we are getting an Insufficient Access Rights error. The
bizzare thing is for one particluar folder we can amend the send as rights with no issue on one of the cas servers but not the other cas or either db servers.
You would have thought if it was a user permissions issue i.e the adminsitrator not having sufficent rights it would fail on every server and likewise if it was a problem with the folder itself, why is it working on one of the cas servers? Also on
the one server this particluar folder does allow us to amend the rights, when we try to amend others we get the same error
If anyone has come accross this before and knows a fix please share it.
    Thanks

  • FR Read Access to User Issue

    Hi All,
I have an issue with FR Report Viewer access.
Provided Viewer role and All access rights to all entities of the HFM application. But User can select the POV but unable to view the report, it displays blank screen.
Is I am missing any role to allocate to User. if so can any one please help me how it can be done???
Please let me know what would be the possible solution. I am using 11.1.1.3 version on Windows 2003.
    Thanks,,
Edited by: Surya Prakash on Jun 3, 2010 8:43 AM

Even after giving the roles of Viewer and Explorer to the user still unable to view/read the report. When user runs a report, user see an empty white page.
The report doesn't display. No error message displays.
This issue is documented in unpublished Bug 8991596. So I gave content manager role to the User ID’s to run and view the report.
    Cause:
Logged into Financial Reporting Studio before logging into Workspace.
The code does not correctly handle setting access to the required UserPOV folder when logged into Studio first.
This issue is documented in unpublished Bug 8991596.
    Solution:
Upgrade to the product version containing the fix for the issue.
Log into Workspace before you log into Studio.
Provision all users who run Financial Reporting reports with the role of Content Manager or above.
