Access SQL from any IP adress?

Is this possible?
I am working from different PCs with different routers/firewalls and sometimes even using a shared Internet connection from a mobile... No IP is static and it is a hazzle to update the list of allowed IP-adresses over and over again...

you can open the entire range of ip if you want (e.g., 0.0.0.0 - 255.255.255.255) or you can dynamically add each client using PowerShell. using the former is not advisable as you're effectively disabling a layer of extra security for your databases....

They are the most expensive purchase from iTunes and just as valuable and important to be able to access anywhere from any device?  I find it so frustrating that first I had to purchase iWorks for my Mac, then I had to purchase it all over again for my IOS device so I could use iCloud, then I purchase thousands of dollars of movies and am not able to store them in the cloud, yet we have only purchased the rights to the songs no differently than we have the movies.  Why would they exclude movies from icloud?

They are not part of icloud in all countries, becuase the movie industry in those copuntries does not allow Apple to offer this.

  • I cannot access itunes from any of my apple product, imac, iphone, mac book, ipad, or apple TV

I cannot access iTunes from any device. It's telling me that itunes is temporally unavailable. It's not my connection, app, software, or device. I'm prett savvy with IT and it has to be on the other end. All of my devices didn't bite the dust at the same time. If they did S%&T!!

You are right- they got to let us know that status or something. Here I am already to sit down and relax with a nice episode of Dexter and cannot access anything. it was fine this morning and now its annoying.

  • How to move all my data to a server and wirelessly access it from any Mac

Hi. I have a PB, an MBP, a Mac Mini and a new iMac, which all serve different purposes. I have got to the point at home where I want to have one private account with all my data on a HD and to just log in to it from whichever machine I happen to be using. I currently have an Airport Express as my wireless router and am considering buying and Airport Extreme/Time Capsule. I have about 500GB of data, which is growing pretty quickly since I have use of an HD camcorder, so I will buy one or two large drives in addition to the various external HDs I already (that total about 850GB) have. What is the best way (at relatively low cost) for me to set up my wireless home network in order to achieve the above goal?
    Thanks for your time.
    Matthew Whiting

Don't go there. At least not for all your data.
The relatively low throughput and high latency of the wireless connection (at least compared to direct-attached disks) will make accessing large files cumbersome and frustrating. Since you specifically mention HD video you should be aware that what takes a long time now will take a lot longer if the media is accessed over the wireless network.
So while your goal might be technically feasible, it's unlikely to be workable.
Instead you should consider focussing your centralized data on content that makes sense (e.g. maybe your iTunes library), and store data locally where it's more appropriate (e.g. consider one machine for video editing).
Therefore you need to analyze your data - both in terms of content (what you have) and use (how you access it) to determine what makes sense to store centrally. Once you have that it will be easier to form a plan.

  • How come clients have to return to the original machine to access their photos and files? Why can't they access them from any client?

When students login & upload images onto a client, they have to return to that same client. They cannot see their images if they log into another client the next day.
Currently, I created uses as Local only on a server dns of ---- .server.private. via the "internet" not VPN. (as advised by a Apple Rep phone call).
Do I change it to server HD? When I tried "Users" , they could not log into any client.
Is it a permission issue on the client?
Are they pictures stored on the Client HD or the Server HD under users home folders? When I had Snowleopard, I could create folders outside their homes and see them on the server HD. Now I cannot see any folder created "ouside" the main Doc or Pictures Folder on the SERVER HD. They can, when they log into the same client each day.
    Advice?

From what westhighphoto said "When I had Snowleopard, I could create folders outside their homes and see them on the server HD" it sounds like users have been saving files outside their home directory. In that case it does not matter whether they are using full-blown Network Home Directories or Portable Home Directories (with syncing) the files will not be copied back to the server.
The users should be saving the photos inside the Photos folder inside their home directory. These will then be saved on to the server.
Note: iPhoto if still being used should default to this.

  • Can I create a server with Time Capsule, where it would be possible for me to access files from any computer in my house?

I have a Time Capsule 1T, so not sure what gen that would be. But I am in college and have about 5 apple devices that my family uses in our house and it would be nice if we could share files through a network. Can I even be helped?

DropBox is another possibility for sharing files and it is free for the first 2GB of storage.

  • Restring user accessing 9idb from Toad or anyODBC connection

    Hello,
We would like to restrict user accessing database from any ODBC driver, s/w like Toad or sqlplus. They can only access dataabse through loggin to Application. Is there a way to do it?
I have been looking into VPD but could not find any info there.
    Thanks
    Suhail

You can use a form of transformation of password in the application that it prevents that the password used in the application cannot be used by algun another program or application like sqlplus, toad or another one.
    f(<user password of your application>) = < user password of database>
where < user password of your application > != <user password of database >

  • Newbie.. Accessing iCloud from iPhone5 on iOS7

    Here is my problem.
I can access iCloud from any computer and sign in. I can not however use Safari on the phone to access iCloud. It keeps taking me to set up instruction and no way to get past that.
How do I access iCloud via phone browser?
    I am newbie to iPhones
    Any help would be appreciated.

It was dealing with Find My Phone.
I have the Find My Phone App..on my phone.. I have iCloud on my PC at home and work.
A friend of mine dropped her phone at the park one day. She had it set on vibrate and I know that if you ring the phone from FMP that it bypasses the vibrate and rings the phone.
I was wondring how one would set up so that one could use FMP to connect. But I think I just answered my own question.. as one would not because they would end up with control over that person's phone. Not a good plan there.
Thanks for the help and input.

  • When I load my CD collection on my computer in iTunes, does it count as purchased?  Do I have the ability to choose from the cloud from any device?

I have tons of CD's purchased over the last 20+ years.  I really would like them in my iTunes library so that I can access them from any of my devices at anytime.  Like when you now buy a song or album from iTunes, it is always there in the cloud.  It shows you have purchased it and can quickly download or even stream from the iTunes.  I want to do the same with my already purchased CD's.   HOW?  is it easy?

Thank you... just read up on iTunes Match.   That stinks, paying a yearly thing... but I understand everyone has to make a dollar.  I think I'm better off just picking the best songs out of my collection storing them on my computer or iPhone then selling my CD's to some used CD place.   If I ever really want to hear a song there are multiple options and if I want it... the .99 to 1.29 option is always there.
    Thank you for the information

  • Accessing Sql Server from AS400 Java program

    Hi everybody,
I am trying to access Sql Server from an AS400 Java program. I have tried various Sql Server JDBC drivers including the Microsoft one but no luck yet. When i try to compile my Java program (with driver file in the classpath) it gives some errors on the driver jar file and also it throws out lots of unreadable text characters. This gave me a feeling that probably its a character coding issue with the jar file, so i tried ftp the file in binary mode as well as copying through the Operations Navigator. But still compilation is giving the same kind of errors.
Do I need to have some special JDBC Drivers compiled for AS400 specifically. My understanding was that Java is platform independent so any JDBC Type 4 driver will work.
We are running Java 1.3 on the AS400. Any help on this issue would be great.
    Thanks
    Inder

Thanks for the help. I am writing a Java program after a long time that's why was making that mistake. Now the program gets compiled correctly but on running the program i am getting the following error message:
java 001-0070: Exception JVAB544 not expected
/myjava/test/msbase.jar: 001-0050 Syntax error on Line 1: token ')' not expected
/myjava/test/msutil.jar: 001-0050 Syntax error on Line 1: token ')' not expected
/myjava/test/mssqlserver.jar: 001-0050 Syntax error on Line 1: token ')' not expected
I have no idea what is this error about. Though the same driver files don't give any error when running on a Windows machine.
    Thanks

  • Access SQL-Server Data from Oracle 10gXE

    Hello,
I want to access sql-server data from oracle 10g XE. I need the same functionality provided by Sql-server by Linked Servers, by which we can query on any data source(oracle, Excel, Access).
do, Oracle 10gXE provide us with same functionality ???
    any pointers ???

Yes, it does work with Express Edition.
Here is a thread from the XE forum with examples.

They refer to a MS Access database, but the procedure is the same.

  • To Restrict SQL account from accessing Sql server via SSMS

    Hi All,
We are planning to tighten the security of our SQL Server.
In the initial phase, we want to restrict all the SQL accounts(except sa) from accessing SQL Server via SSMS
Since the SQL passwords are used in the connection strings(plain text) of our .NET Applications, developers are able to see it and they are accessing SQL server through SSMS with the credentials in the connection string.
The requirement is, SQL accounts should only be accessing the databases through .NET applications and not through any other applications like SSMS, SQLCMD...etc
    1) We tried "Logon Trigger", but later we came to know that there is security breach in it.
    2) Application Roles - Password is plain text, again back to square one.
We are looking for an alternate. Please share some ideas.
    Thanks & Regards,
    K.P.Senthil Kumar

The basic presumption here is that there is on way you can tie a connection to an application as such. There is app_name(), but since this is passed from the application, the application can call itself whatever you want.
As long as it is only a matter of keeping business users out, you can solve the issue with some three-tiered solution. Either by having a true middle layer, or just having a web server, or the application running on Terminal Server or Citrix.
But you want to keep the developers out who work with the code. That makes it difficult to lock them out of the middle layer.
Then again, you say "our SQL Server" is that singular? Don't you have more than one SQL Server? One for developement, one for test and one for production? If you only want to keep the devs out from development, you have different usernames
and password for different environments, and they are read from config files. The config files for production should be well-protected.
By the way, only permitting sa from logging in from SSMS is bad idea. Rather, you should disable sa, and everyone should log in with their individual Windows account. And those who should perform system-administration tasks should be member of sysadmin.

When I go to access my albums from any app on my phone or iPad, I cannot access the iCloud albums, only the albums synced with iTunes/iPhoto manually.  This is frustrating because I cannot add to those albums from mobile device, I have to add to them during a Mac sync.  I would like to be able to use my iCloud albums to organize my photos but if I cannot access them from apps it seems pointless.  I will end up having to maintain both an iCloud library and a separate iPhoto library which is more work that seems necessary.  I want everything easy to organize and access.  It seems like in this age where most people are more likely to use their mobile devices than their Macs (and some do not even own Macs) that there should be a mobile solution.  Hopefully I am simply without a clue and you folks can help me out with a fix or a source of info as a solution.  I have not found answers yet.
