Access to basic tutorials

Where can basic Apple iTunes store tutorials be found or accessed? Tutorials for how to buy and down load an album to your device. Tutorials that are not just a description of the new iTunes or iTunes store ads?

There are some 'help' pages available from here : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/getstarted/ - there are different categories on the left-hand side of that page which you can click on to get related links on the right-hand side.
e.g. iTunes 11 frequently used features : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5649
To buy an item from the store, you can enable the left-hand sidebar on iTunes 11 via control-S on a PC. Then select the Store on that left-hand sidebar and the store should then show on the right-hand side of the screen. At the top of that should be a list of the types of content that you can buy in your country which you can click on e.g.
At the top right of iTunes there should also be a search box - when you are browsing the store it searches the store, when you are browsing your library it will search that :
To buy an item you click on its price (or 'free' if its a free download).
To then sync your music to your iPod, connect it to your computer via the USB cable and it should then show on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes as a 'device' - if you select it on that sidebar you can then use the right-hand side of the screen to select what you want to have on your iPod.

  • Getting the classic "Macintosh Basics" tutorials to run in OSX (and Linux?)

    Good afternoon folks,
    I remember WAY back in the early days that there were really good basic tutorial programs that game with your new macintosh to teach you the basics. If my memory is correct, I THINK my favourite was the earliest one, "Mouse Basics". All I remember is that, as a kid, the first tutorial I had on a Mac was this silly little fun game to teach how to use a mouse, how to click, how to drag, etc. I vaguely remember a fishbowl was involved somehow, and there was another part where you dragged a piece of paper from a desk into a garbage can.
    Heck, I think there may have been one for the pre-Mac Apples that was also really good.
    Today, I have two uses for these programs, and I want to figure out how to get them to work on modern hardware.
    1) My dad, believing the hype about OSX being the "easiest computer in the world to use" went and bought himself a really expensive iMac, thinking it would do EVERYTHING for him. Remember the scene from Star Trek IV where Scotty sits in front of the Mac Plus and says, "computer," into the mouse. That's pretty much the mindspace where my dad's coming from. Plus, my mom's even worse, and is having a really hard time grasping the concept of using a mouse. They want me get Skype working on their computer, but when I tried to help them out I discovered just how much they need to learn before they get CLOSE to the point where they can use Skype comfortably.
    But, because all this stuff is so automatic for me, because I've been using computers since around 1986 when I got my first C=64, I cannot figure out how to verbalize these concepts into words in a way they can understand. Trying to explain to them the concept of the "desktop" as a metaphor is really hard. To them, a computer is a machine that does something FOR you, like a toaster. To me a computer is a virtual "space" that I "enter" in order to do things for myself.
    For example, they might ask something like, "how do I get the computer to do x?" And I would answer, "this is how YOU do x." Or, to put it another way, they might unconsciously think to themselves, "I want the computer to give me the information I ask for," while I would unconsciously think ,"I want to go into the file system and find the information that's stored there." That's why it's called the "Finder" after all, right? It's a philosophical paradigm shift they just can't seem to make. So, they don't want me to teach them how to use Skype. They want me to teach Skype how to work for them! Somehow I cannot explain to them that an iMac is not a HAL 9000...
    So, I want to use these very old basic tutorial programs on OSX as a way to get my parents some practice on the very very very basic skills needed to use a computer. How to click. How to drag. The concept of the "desktop". Etc.
    Anybody have any simple tricks I can try? I suppose I could download QEMU for OSX and then install System 7 on their iMac, but it seems to me that there MUST be a simpler solution.
    2) I'm trying to develop a remastered **** Small Linux livecd for my very young nieces and nephews to help introduce them to computers. The idea is to prevent my silly siblings from wasting their money on those stupid pink plastic "laptops" you can buy at Toys R Us. Instead, they'd simply take their old laptop that they don't use anymore and just boot it up with the DSL livecd. On the cd will be all sorts of age-appropriate games, educational software, and a kid-oriented internet browser (I'm trying to get zacbrowser to run under WINE, so far without any luck.)
    There would be two users built-in to the livecd. If you boot it without using a password you get "kid mode" with a really friendly desktop with large cartoony icons with all the programs for the kid. If you boot it with the preconfigured password you'd get "parent mode" allowing access to preferences, utilities, and the myDSL package installation system.
    Along with giving new life to my brother-in-laws' old laptops, they could also take the livecd with them when they're visiting other folk. Instead of dumping the kids in front of the tv, they can just pop the livecd in the family's computer and the kids can plug away without the ability to touch anything stored on the harddrive.
    Think of it as SugarOS for really old hardware.
    As you've probably guessed by now, I want to include these old Mac tutorials with the CD, and again I'm trying to figure out the best way to get them to run under Linux. Again, I could try running System 7 under QEMU, but I'd really like to find a better way. Is there such a thing as "WINE for classic macs"?
    In the unlikely event that anybody has a way to modify these old programs to run natively under OSX (or Linux), that would be AWESOME!!!
    Or if anybody knows of any modern substitutes to the classic Mac Basics tutorials, that would also be cool (but not nearly as cool as a way to run the original programs. I really really liked the way those suckers did the job.)
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi, and a warm welcome to the forums!
    Couple of thoughts...
    You could get/use SheepShaver to actually run Classic Apps on Intel Macs.
    For "Kid Mode" you could put other's Home folders on USB Sticks big enough.

  • Access Manager Basic install (Weblogic Suite)

    Greetings.
    We want to install Access Manager but our customer has Oracle WebLogic Suite license, I understand that there is a restriction in that license and only Access Manager Basic is supported.
    I don't know how to install Oracle Access Manager 11g only, because oracle oam 11g is bundled with Oracle Identity and Access Manager 11g. I don't want to install Oracle Identity Manager because there isn't included in the WebLogic Suite license.
    Could anybody tell me how to install OAM 11g to comply with the OAM basic restrictions included in Oracle Weblogic suite.
    Thanks
    Ramiro Ortíz.

    While installing Oracle fusion middleware suite, you'll get list of product to be installed, you can select only 'Oracle Access Manager' there to install only OAM.

  • Add Video to Site. Looking for basic tutorials

    Thanks to a lot of help from this forum I have cobbled together a reasonable web site. Now I am adding some video and am confused as to some best practices.
    I have had some reels of 8mm film converted to digital and are now individual *.mov files. Using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 I have edited and posted some clips but the more I read the more I wonder if I am doing it right... or best.
    FPS.. my *.mov files are at 15 FPS. Premier Pro does not have a 15 fps setting that I can find. Some place I was advised that for displaying on the web 15 fps is more than adequate, more is overkill and makes for a much larger file.
    Premiere Pro will do the job.. but some books say Adobe Flash can be used as well.
    Exporting.. SWF; FLV; F4V; Quicktime; AVI..........
    So.. Can anyone advise on some tutorials that deal with the basics and best practice of adding video to a web site.
    Thank you for your time

  • SO 8 database access using BASIC

    I created a database using StarOffice 8 and I want access it through BASIC. Unfortunately I keep getting the following error:
    Table not found in statement [SELECT ItemDescription FROM Inventory].
    This should work because my SQL query uses the same syntax and it works.
    Here is the code (copied nearly verbatim from the StarOffice BASIC manual):
    Dim DatabaseContext As Object
    Dim DataSource As Object
    Dim Connection As Object
    Dim InteractionHandler as Object
    Dim Statement As Object
    Dim ResultSet As Object
    DatabaseContext=createUnoService("com.sun.star.sdb.DatabaseContext")
    DataSource=DatabaseContext.getByName("TestDatabase")
    If Not DataSource.IsPasswordRequired Then
      Connection=DataSource.GetConnection("","")
    Else
      InteractionHandler=createUnoService("com.sun.star.sdb.InteractionHandler")
      Connection=DataSource.ConnectWithCompletion(InteractionHandler)
    EndIf
    Statement=Connection.createStatement()
    ResultSet=Statement.executeQuery("SELECT ItemDescription FROM Inventory")
    If Not IsNull(ResultSet) Then
      While ResultSet.next
        MsgBoxResultSet.getString(1)
      Wend
    EndIf

    This can be achieved by means of an enterprise user.

  • Access Management Basic Questions

    Hello, I have several basic questions regarding the access manager. Short answers are OK for me.
    1) Is there a build in self registration process for end users
    2) Where Access Manager store it's users data (AD, Ldap, Identity Server ? )
    3) Does Access Manager come standalone or it rely in SUN IdM
    4) Does Acess Manager has it's own workflow engine or can rely on IdM
    5) What is the programming language XPRESS or any other.
    Thank You !!!!

    Hi Shivaram, thank you for reply.
    Regarding the 4. What if I want to create the workflow for End User self registration, For example user must be approved by manager. Is this should be done by IDM? Does that mean that all self registration process will be moved to IDM?
    Regarding the 5 ,I meant is there a possibility to write my own code which will expand the Access Manager capabilities .Like make some changes in AM user creation or deletion process? Sending notifications to end users etc. Is there any API or programming language for this?
    Thank You!!!
    Alex.

  • How can I access the programs, tutorials?

    I have been a member of the service(creative cloud)for awhile, but I have never used it. How do I get started using the programs and tutorials?

    Probably best to ask in the forum that is specific to the program(s) you want to use
    If you start at the Forums Index http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa
    You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
    Click the "down arrow" symbol on the right (where it says ALL FORUMS) to open the drop down list and scroll

  • Basic tutorials

    I am a new user of director 11. I never had an experience in
    any multimedia tools. My company requires me to use director
    instead of flash - actionscript. Now, I am not certain about using
    director cause I really dont know the UPs and DOWN of it. I want to
    ask some advice about security issues. In flash, .SWF can be
    decoded. And that's what we are trying to avoid. Is director safe
    from this issue? Please give me some advices on this.
    Another thing is, what will be the best site I can go that is
    best suited for beginners like to learn...
    Thanks a lot for your expert advices....

    Hi dhells,
    Director source DIRs files can be made into DXR or DCRs. DXRs
    are used for offline
    applications. DCRs are Shockwave files for the web (although
    can be used offline
    too). DXRs and DCRs are protected files. It is possible to
    extract media content
    from the files but it is impossible to extract any code
    inside the file. So,
    Director is safer than Flash on this front.
    Next, where to learn Director. Well, I have tutorials at:
    http://www.deansdirectortutorials.com/
    and they are designed for beginners. I also have a resouces
    page with links to all
    the best Director help and resources sites on the web.

  • Basic tutorials-- nonexistent ? :

    Hi there,
    I'm right up-to-date w/ QT Pro 7.1.6, yet while I progress happily thru other apps, I have yet to really use QT beyond what it already knows to do.
    just don't find it intuitive or even very clear where controls are !
    I wanted to take a 6 GB downloaded .dv & extract 1 minute , freeing me to regain the "bulk of the bites".
    Well, I know iMovie won't help in such regaining, and creating a short .dv of the intended scene gave me a 5 GB 'offspring'
    Can i even DO this, & is there anywhere that serves as tutorials or manuals ??
    --=TIA=-
    ~~~=Dave
    let's try this. open the file in QuickTime. set your In and Out markers around the part of the part you want to have remaining. now go "Edit > Trim to Selection".
    close the video and save the changes. does that do the trick?
    (i don't use Pro much myself ... it's just helpful for me to have it around for troubleshooting QuickTime Player launch and installation errors. so if more experienced users wish to step in at this point, please feel free.)
  • Open pdf file using ms access visual basic 2000 (9.0.2720)
    I'm using Acrobat reader to open pdf file using a vb proceedure , how ever I can't get it to open a specific file thats in another file folder.
    The code I'm using looks like the following: This is windows 7, using the (x86) virtual in 32 bit mode.
    Private Sub Form_Click()
    'checks for valid msds document
    Dim fs As FileSearch
    Dim stAppName As String
    Dim i As Integer
    On Error GoTo Err_form_Click
    Set fs = Application.FileSearch
    With fs
                 .NewSearch
                .LookIn = "c:\program files (x86)\cvmm\msds\"
                .FileName = Me![MSDS Index #] & ".pdf"
                .MatchTextExactly = True
    If .Execute() <> 0 Then
                        stAppName = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe c:\program files(x86)\cvmm\msds\" & Me![MSDS Index #] & ".pdf"
                          Call Shell(stAppName, 1)
               End If
                     End With
    exit sub
    Err_form_Click:
        MsgBox Err.Description
             Resume Exit_form_Click
    Exit_form_Click:
            MsgBox " no file found."
    End Sub
    This used to work when I was using acrobat 5.0,
    You should have quotes around a filename that has spaces in it. Older versions were more forgiving for some reason.
    Much better anyway is to use ShellExecute, which means you don't have to know or care what PDF reading software is installed and how to run it.
  • Basic Tutorials on VC++
    Hi guys
       I am in college right now and a decent c++ programmer.  I have gotten a real fire lit under my ass to learn how to use daq boards and want to pretty much know everything about them.  I know this can take a while but i am having trouble finding a tutorial that will explain to me how to use a simple board, write software for it, and design the circuitry that the daq board will monitor.  I know there is no probably one guide that will show all this in one but if you can give me references to good ones that can teach me the individual parts that would be much appreciated.  My school has multisim, measurment studio, and the daq simulation software, just to let you guys know wha ti have to work with.  Hope to hear from you guys and thanks in advance for the help.
    I would recommend several sources of information for working with VC++ and DAQ.
    hello all,
    my company just installed mdm 5 and my task is to build some java applications that use the mdm api.  our first implementation is using the products data model for all of our materials.
    i want to know if there are any basic tutorials or examples of how to get, for example, read all the records in the product table and how to search and get a result set, like on name or id, etc.
    just some basic read and search examples to introduce me and get me started.  if you know of any, it will be much appreciated.
  • Corrupted Lightroom (Can't access Basic controls in Develop module.) Do I need to delete and reinstall and, if so, how to do it without involving Creative Cloud swamp?
    I am running on a McBook Pro, and suddenly cannot see or access the Basic options. Have I pushed the wrong button or has Lightroom gotten corrupted by my visit to Hawaii?
    My thought is that the program has been corrupted; normally I woiuld simply delete it and reinstall, but Adobe seems to want me to jump through the Creative Cloud hoops, which I tried once and quit almost immediately.
    Is there something that I ought to do to regain control ofmy life, or at least Lightroom?
    That's odd - remember it is "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom."
    On a MacBook, show the Launchpad (4-finger pinch on the trackpad) and type "Lightroom" in the search bar to find the app... Pin it to the dock when it's open so you can easily find it in the future (right click the dock icon, Options > Keep in Dock).
