Access to Business Rules in AAS

We have System 9.2.0.1 and when my user logs into AAS, they cannot view the Business Rules section. what is the proper access to grant in Shared Services for them to see the Business Rules?
Thanks

Ok I did not realize that there is an extra step to allow the user to see the Business rules once you provision them. I needed to log into AAS as an Admin, go to Business Rules Section, go to Administration Folder and right click and pick Refresh Users List. This apparently refreshes the list of users able to access Business Rules in AAS after they have been provisioned. Another solution is of course to stop and start the AAS service which is not practical to do during a workday.

  • Unable to access to Business rules from planning

    HI all,
We are using Hyperion Planning 9.3.1, Essbase 9.3.1 and AAS 9.3.1.
Unfortunately, we are not able to access to business rules from planning.
All rights are set properly, the business rules are visible through AAS 9.3.1 and are accessible from all locations.
When we go to tools/business rules and select the database, we are not able to see any business rules.
If someone has any idea, it will help us a lot,
Thanks for reading this post, guys.

    Thanks for your help John,
Unfortunately, we do not have the directory \HyperionPlanning\webapps\HyperionPlanning\WEB-INF\classes\.
We tried to put the file in the directory \HyperionPlanning\deployment\tomcat\HyperionPlanning\webapps\HyperionPlanning\web-inf\classes\
    But it still doesn't work.
For your information, we are currently using TOMCAT as web server.

  • Error opening business rule from AAS

    Hi,
I'm unable to open business rules from AAS console associated with one of the Planning/ Essbase application. This particular planning application is also not showing up when I try to "select outline" for the business rule. The business rules for this particular application are running fine from Planning web application.
Error retrieving Planning application app_name on server server_name.
Detail:Exception occurred. Please check your log file for details.
hbrserver.log randomly shows one of the two errors given below:
    2010-06-15 16:02:56,469 WARN [ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '1' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)' com.hyperion.hbr.plugin.planning.PlanningMetadata - Error retrieving Planning application app_name on server server_name.
    or

There is no issue with other business rules which are associated with other applications.
I have tried restarting EAS service but that didn't fix the issue. Also, i reckon this problem came up after I manually deployed 64 bit weblogic for EAS. On other environments where tomcat is being used there are no issues at all.
    Thanks in advance.

I take it you have tried the standard process of :-
    Stop Planning,EAS, RMI services.
    Start RMI,EAS,Planning
Log into the planning application through the web.
Log into EAS, open your rule.
Also can you create a new rule for the planning application after following the above process?
    Cheers

  • How to access HBM Business rules

    Hello:
I was a HFM user and just being granted "developer access". I wonder where I can see the VB script code of the consolidation business rules. From the HFM workspace, I did Start ==> Administrator ==> Calculation Manager, can not see anything. Wonder if I have enough access. Also, wonder if the business rules are residing in EPMA?
    Thanks in advance.

There are two places where Calc Manager shows you the vbscript it generates. First, select a given rule, choose the circle icon that begins the rule, and then at the bottom of the screen you will see a "script" tab. Click on that and you can see it generate script for the one rule. Another place to view script is in the rule set view. There is a similar script option which will show the script for the entire rule set. You can do this without extracting anything.

  • How to add access to business rule in calculation manager?

    Hi all,
I would like to add access to each business rule in calculation manager. Is it the same method used like in 9.3.1? I can't find any document talking about that.
    Thanks
    Gary

    Hi,
I thought it goes on the rule security, so say you had two rules in a ruleset, if you give access to both the rules to a user then the user will also see the ruleset.
If you gave access to one of the rules then the user would not see the ruleset.
    Ok?
    Cheers

  • Updating Business Rule access and security

    Hi All,
We have recently load balanced the planning servers, as a part of this currently we have to update "Location" and "Acces Privileges" tabs to reflect "All Locations".
There are hundreds of business rules for us across all servers. I was hoping if there is an automated or maxl way of updating access for business rules rather than manually pulling all the groups in each business rule.
    any thoughts on this.
    Thank you
    Arun

    Hi john,

    I m logging in as User1(Planner).
do I need to add security for calculation script?
I didn't get any option to add security to calculation scripts in eas?

  • Business Rules not visible in Hyperion Planning

I created a group in Shared Services and added 6 (native) accounts.
After that, I assigned Access Privileges to Business Rules in AAS for this group.
When I open Planning Web and go to Tools - Business Rules, 5 of the 6 users can see the Business Rules,
but one users only sees the CalcScripts.
I think I tried everything; removed/added the account from the group, refreshing security, refresh in Planning-Desktop
    I'm using version 9.2.03
Anyone knows whats going on here?

Thats the strange thing; We use (native) groups to provision. This works fine for the other 5 users.
But even if I provision this one user for the Business Rules, they remain invisible to this user. (in Planning)
I discovered this morning that this user can create a new BR, but when I try to open it in AAS console I get an error
"Exception occured, Please check your log file for details."
Unfortunately, the log doesn't provide any more details. (even if I set the level to Debug)

Our dba recently upgraded the SQL server to a new machine and thought everything was ok. I just noticed in Shared Services that it still shows the old SQL server name in there. So how do we point it to the new SQL server?

  • Business Rules not available in Planning

I logged into EAS console and created a business rule against my planning outline. It validated properly and even runs properly from the EAS console (changes data as expected).
But when I log into Planning to assign this rule to a form the business rule is not listed either under the TOOLS > Business rules menu option or under the Business Rules Tab in Form editor.
What do I need to do to get this business rule into Planning?

    I am on 9.3.1.
I have 2 servers, the essbase (hy01) and the planning (hy06). When logging into EAS I usually select the essbase server to log into (hy01). I created 1 business rule while logged into hy01 and it appeared when I logged into planning through workspace. I associated that BR with the outline hy06/AppName/DBname and used that as the location as well.
After that business rule was a grand success if I log into hy01 when logging onto EAS and then try to expand the BR node I get a "Error logging in to Business Rules. The repository has not been configured or you are not authorized to use Business Rules."
But I can log into EAS using hy06 and access the business rules just fine (including the original one). But every business rule I have created since then does not show up into planning.
So, in retrospect, I guess my question might be why can't I use Business Rules when logging into EAS through the Essbase server (hy01) but have full functionality when logging in through planning server (hy06) except for being able to then see the business rules I create in Planning through Workspace?
I am logged in as admin and no permissions have changed.

  • Business Rules Do Not Execute When Saving a Form

When saving a form the attached business rules are not executing. Sometimes we are unable to validate business rules via AAS. When this happens we do a security refresh from Planning to Essbase and Essbase to Shared Services. At other times, we bounce planning and even Essbase and this seems to fix the problem. Today we have tried every combination (bounce planning, Essbase, AAS) and we are able to at least validate biz rules in AAS but we (i.e., users) are uanble to execute the biz rule when they save via the planning form. There are no issues running the biz rules when saving the form using an administration account. Can someone explain what's going on or provide direction as to why this problem happens and how to fix this issue?

    Hi,
Well is your version 9.3.0.1? If yes then you have my sympathies :). We too have this version and face similar problems with Business Rules. Usually things come back to normal after following the steps mentioned above. However what I would want to know is the following:
    1) From where are you running the Business rules? I am asking this because if you are trying to run from Smartview then I would suggest you look at the time it takes for the Business Rules to execute. If it excedes the timeout settings then it will exit out. However the BR might still be running in the back ground. This you can confirm by looking at the data.
    2) Have you checked if you have installed all the patches?
    Hope it helps.
    Regards,
    Amol

  • Can't launch Business rules from Smartview

    Hi,
I am trying to lauch a business rules from smartview, but the "calculation option"/ "business rules" menu is unavailable in Excel.
This business rules is available in the Web HBR launcher.
How could I get access to business rules in Excel please ?
    Regards

In Excel, you can't launch a Business rule in a free form, you have to use a form from Hyperion Planning for example.
It would have been nice to be able to launch a BR in Smartview, as in the web launcher.

  • Business Rules Performance

    Hi all,
We have problem in giving access to the business rules. This is the scenario, once you open the business rule navigate to access privileges tab and then once you hit 'ADD' its taking about 2-3 minutes to open the user list window. Is that something expected behavior with 9.3.1.0 or its bug.
Is there any fix available for this or there any performance settings needs to changed
    thanks

    Hi,
This is where it can get a little confusing, as you have installed EAS 9.3.1.3 then it should be patched on the business rules side to 9.3.1.1.9, so in theory should include the fix
7002317 – Performance must improve for accessing a business rule in Essbase Administration Services console and working with access privileges.
as this is on the EAS/business rules side and was addressed in 9.3.1.1.7
Planning is now at patch 9.3.1.1.11 so it may be worth applying the patch as it addesses all the issues from 9.3.1 base to 9.3.1.1.11
If problems still exist then it may be worth looking at the patches for shared services.
    Cheers
    John

  • Query in Essbase/EAS Business rule

How can I assign an Account member which is of type Text in BRs?
Ex: If I have account member 'TrueorFalse' with SmartList 'TrueorFalseList' associated to it.
SmartList has entries (True, 1) and (False, 2) besides the default entries.
    In business rule
TrueorFalse = 1 is working but TrueorFalse = "True" or TrueorFalse = @member("True") is not working.
    Can anybody help?

    Hi
I think that there are separate security roles that determine access to Business Rules, it shouldn't just be because you have given them administrator access to the Planning app.
Take a look at the Shared Services User and Role Security Guide (link to v11.1.2 doc attached)
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/hss_admin.pdf
There is further security possible in Business Rules via EAS so if you assign the user a role less than administrator you should be able to restrict there access to specific rules.
    Hope this helps

  • Associate Business Rules with Workflow

    Hi All,
We have a planning application, and forms are having some business rules.
Now our requirement is, when a user promote his cost center to another user, he should not have the access the Business Rules for that cost center.
so, is there any way that we can associate business rules with workflow?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Edited by: user12865804 on Oct 4, 2010 2:26 AM

Ya that will be a tricky one.
The only general comment is to build this into your process.
So you will give everyone a window to add To Be Hires during 1 or 2 week period. Then you block everyone and remove the ability to launch the script. Then managers review. So this becomes disconnected from "workflow" the tool inside of Planning.
You could build something but this would be way outside the out of the box process and I wouldn't want to go there personally. You would move the calc into a maxl script and build in code to validate against the workflow tables to see if the calc will work or not. This would require all sort of validate scripting and error handling and would require bring in some experts probably. The only other scenario is to troll the forums and maybe find someone how built something like this and get them to share their code.
In principal what you want sounds obvious and make sense to be in the tool.
