Access to internet in Test Environment

Hi All,
I would like to know how can we grant the internet access to all my DC which has been configured in VMware Platform in my test environment.
Also would like to know prerequisite to configured it.
Scenario: I have one Domain and 3 DC with all (Windows Server 2008 r2) and they all are connected with static IP Address, now i need to provide a internet connection to my domain and through domain it can be shared to other dc , so that
i can able to access internet in all my servers.
Also, i don't have router so is it possible to achieve this scenario.
I will be glad if anyone can help me with the requirements and tools which are needed to accomplish above scenario.
Please let me know if anything else required.
Thanks
Atul srivastava

As you do not have a router, you can use RRAS to achieve that. The first thing is to make the traffic routed to internet.
Ping and Tracert can be helpful.
The second part would be the DNS resolution. You can configure your internal DNS servers to have your ISP DNS servers as forwarders and make your domain-joined servers / computers point only to your internal DNS servers as primary and secondary DNS servers.

  • Exchange Server 2010 SP3 test environment - email flow to/from internet

Today I set up test environment for Exchange Server 2010 SP3 - domain controller running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Exchange Server 2010 SP3 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and client computer running Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 with Outlook Pro 2010 x64. These
machines are VMs on vSphere 5.0 cluster made of 4 esxi 5.0 hosts.
I have three years of experience in working with Exchange Server 2010 in my production environment but until recently I have not had enough resources to build a test environment. Does "testing" Exchange Server 2010 infrastructure have
a real life purpose considering the fact that only internal email flow is possible since authoritative SMTP accepted domain is not hosted anywhere thus not visible to outside world. This limited email flow combined with absence of possibility to test
ActiveSync, Outlook Anywhere, OWA from WAN, . . . really hurt and make Exchange Server rare technology that can not be tested completely before introducing something new into the production. Services that are not possible to test from the outside world are
useless and whole point of Exchange-like technologies is availability from anywhere and from whatever device.

I set up Internet Send Connector (by default this type of send connector uses DNS MX records to route email automatically). Having sent an email to my gmail account I did not receive it and in transport logs I saw that mx record was found successfully
but there is the following line:
2014-08-05T20:39:51.942Z,Internet Connector,08D17F000FE36010,1,,2a00:1450:4013:c01::1b:25,*,,"Failed to connect. Error Code: 10051, Error Message: A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable network 2a00:1450:4013:c01::1b:25"
I tried also to send an email to my production email address (we have Symantec Messaging Gateway which is used as a smart host (antispam, antimalware, content filter appliance)) but then error is:
2014-08-05T20:50:08.395Z,Internet Connector,08D17F000FE36019,1,,91.238.7.10:25,*,,"Failed to connect. Error Code: 10061, Error Message: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 91.238.7.10:25"
Telnet from test exchange to 91.238.7.10 on port 25 also is not working.

On the internet everybody tells that the best thing to do is to extend the StuckThreadMaxTime. But we are executing only one single process on our own, on a test environment. So this can't be because WL is overloaded. When checking memory it is quite low (regarding its usual load), and there is a lot of available CPU.
The strangest thing is that this error occurs as follow:
An EJB is created correctly (we don't see issues in the logs), but this error occurs when we try to access it for the first time. I guess the SASConnectorService_37hpy3_EOImpl_922_WLStub class is our client proxy, that needs to call our real EJB on another instance of Weblogic. But we see no trace of that EJB on our distant server. It is fully reproducible, since everytime we launch it, we get that error.
If anybody has a lead, or at least a clue, I take it.

    My guess -
    1) Networking issue
    2) A long transaction(could be global or your EJB transaction) that you do really need more than 10 mins to finish it.
I would check netstat output for 1) and time the EJB transaction.
If your server is not hang and still accepting request, you can actually ignore it. Or you can tune stuck thread max time higher(longer time allow for stuck warning) so this message will stop bugging.

  • Server 2008 R2 KMS Server - Creating in a test environment

    Hi
I am looking to create a test environment that is a cut-down replica of the production environment so that upgrades and migrations can be trialled before being implemented into production.  The test environment will be isolated from the production network
but will have internet access available.
One of the things we will need is a KMS server - to activate test machines in the test environment, and to trial a production KMS server upgrade.
Can we just clone the existing production KMS Server over into the test environment?  Will there be problems because it has the same identity as the production server?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Since each KMS key can be installed on up to six KMS hosts. You can configure another KMS host in you test environment.
Not quite sure about the KMS host upgrade you referred. If you don’t want to update the OS, some patches will be required.

  • Cant access to internet

Hi ,I am from Azerbaijan ,asking question about internet problem in Server 2008 ,actually there are same problems mentioned before ,but none of them is same as mine.I have testserver HP proliant,I want to test and practise all Exchange ,TMG and etc in
this server ,I am trying to create my own small network ,I installed Vware 10 in Server (OS is Win 7) ,then in  Vware  I installed Win 7 and Server 2008 R2,server has 2 NICs.I plugged the cable one of them ,now in the server there is internet
,but my target is accessing internet from inside ,from  Vware (server 2008 and it's clients ).I installed AD ,DHCP (172.20.1.2-172.20.1.40)and DNS server ,when deploying AD it asked me assign one IP adress,I manually configured 172.20.1.5 ,and gave
8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 DNS adress ,and I disabled other NIC .I tried all versions but couldnt access to internet .I tried mainly about NAT ,also in  windows 7 client when I choose Network adapter VMnet2(NAT) it access to internet ,but I think my adress differs
from mine, It is long story ,I will appreciate it ) thank you very much :)

    Hi,
Actually, it’ a VMware issue. You can post here:
    http://www.vmware.com/support.html
Please Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. This contact information may change
without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this third-party contact information.
    And some tips for you:
Since you want to configure windows server as a DC, you should never give it two NIC. A multi-homed DC is really problematic.
And the DC should has its own DNS, if you assign an open DNS, the internal domain name will not be resolved. For external name resolution you can specify a forwarder.

  • Just set up our Apple TV and it works fine for NetFlix.  However want to stream photos and I Tune library from home computer but this computer accesses the internet thru a VPR at my wife's place of enployment. Other than a 2nd computer any suggestions?R

Just set up Apple TV on home network. Works fine for NetFlix but we can't stream I Tune libruary or digital photos thru it to our home TV as because of my wife's work we bypass COX and access the internet thru a VPN offered by her employer.  Was told we either have to buy a second computer (two expensive for just these two functions) or keep turning on and off the VPN(not practical). Any other ideas? Thanks

Does she need to access the internet through her employer, or is she just trying to access her internal network at work?
If it's the latter, split-stream VPN clients (like Cisco AnyConnect) will split traffic so that only that directed at a particlar domain gets tunneled.
I have an AnyConnect client at home, but I normally only activate it when I'm using it, so I've never tested it with HomeSharing.  I'm currently traveling, but when I get home tomorrow, I'll try it out and let you know if it works.  If it does, your wife can check with her employer to see if she can configure AnyConnect to work with them.

  • MacBook Pro will no longer access the internet

We have two macs:  A MacBook Pro (2.53 GHz Intel Core Due) and a MacBook (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo).  Both are running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
Problem:  the MacBook Pro will no longer connect to the internet.  Network Diagnostics thinks that it is connected.  I can use Network Utilitities to ping a site.  But Apple Mail, iCal, Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Skype, Software Update, etc., cannot access the internet.
The MacBook Pro is set up with a single user account.
Our internet is provided through a mobile phone provider.  If I set up our smart phone to serve as a wireless hotspot, the MacBook, iPod Touch, iPad will all connect.  The MacBook Pro will not.  If I put the SIM card in a USB modem and connect the modem to the MacBook Pro, the modem software will connect to the internet.  If I turn on Internet Sharing on the MacBook Pro, the MacBook, etc., will connect through the MacBook Pro, but the MacBook Pro itself will not.
So to sum up:  the modem software connects to the internet, Internet Sharing works as it should, Network Diagnostics and Network Utilities can't see a problem, and yet none of the apps that NEED to access the internet are able to.
This is the error message that Safari gives:
Safari can't open the page "...".  The error is "The

(NSPOSIXErrorDomain:1) Please choose Safari > report Bugs to Apple, note the

This is the error message that Chrome gives:
         Error 10 (net::ERR_ACCESS_DENIED): Unknown Error
I have tried going to System Preferences / Network and deleting Airport and then adding it back.  I've tried disabling the Firewall.  And the same with reboots after each.
We're from the States but currently our work has us in Africa.  To keep from inadvertantly passing on windows viruses to others (viruses are rampant in Africa), I'm running the Intego anti-virus software on both machines (VirusBarrier X6).  I mention this because the problem started after rebooting after an update for that software.  (The MacBook Pro has had the update, the MacBook has not.)  But I also used Time Machine in an attempt to roll back VirusBarrier X6 to its pre-update status.  That didn't solve the problem either, which makes be think that the Intego problem didn't cause the problem.  But I mention it to be thorough.
There is an Apple-certified service centre in country, but it's a long drive away that I'd rather not have to make.  As it would for any of you in this day and age, this is really hampering my work.  Any and all help is much appreciated.

    THE FIX
After hours (days actually) troubleshoorting, involving 4 people and Apple Support folks, I'll  save you time. If you have VirusBarrier-follow the Manual to uninstall. use Intego's uninstall and deauthorize Virusbarrier before you trash it. If you have Net Nanny, trash it.
None of the above-it is Foxcomm's Airport/Bluetooth (661-5867) card. Faulty, non existent, blown a transistor, are all comments from Techn Support reps (the Genuis blue shirt reps)
Take it into an Apple Store, have them check the Airport card  (and only the airport card) using " a different operating system". Sorry that is a black hole, as the machine disappeared to the back of the store for"testing. Don't re-install the OS, delete plist files or applications, reconf and spend hours wasting your time.
Virusbarrier, net nanny or a faulty Airport card. In warranty it is covered; out of warranty:70.55 plus $39 to have Apple officially loosen the screws.I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro, can't speak for older models.
    Hope this helps the community.

  • Networks will "connect" over Wifi, but DNS resolution is impossible and I can't access the internet.

My OSX 10.7.5 iMac (late 2011) will connect to my university's wireless network and thinks it's connected to the internet, but cannot resolve any DNS - and cannot actually access the internet on any browser or internet-utilising app. My university has 2 networks, a regular wifi one and an eduroam one. I have the same problem on both networks. My MacBook, running Snow Leopard, and my iPad (latest software) both connect to both networks just fine.
Because it's my university's network, i can't reset my router or anything like that. I'm in halls. I don't think it's a network issue, because all my other devices are fine.
I've searched high and low on these forums but haven't found anyone having exactly the same problem as me - I've heard of odd few minutes of people losing their connections in this manner, but my computer's been down now for hours and nothing. I've restarted it many times, even once in "Recovery Mode" and I'm getting nothing. I've followed instructions to flush my DNS cache, renew DHCP leases, I've tried manually inputting various DNSes I've found (eg the 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 google ones), none of which have worked.
Using terminal, I can't ping either an http:// domain, or an IP address. Both get "timed out" as a response. I can't access the internet on any browser (chrome, safari, firefox), my google mail notifier, Skype, or my twitter app. Or anything else.
I'm relatively computer literate, but I'm not particularly code-savvy, so I'd really appreciate it if I could get some step-by step help on here, bearing in mind what I've already tried. I'm really worried, because it all seems to have happened completely out of the blue. Last time I updated was some time a couple weeks ago; I update whenever my software update beeps at me.
    Thanks.

Go step by step and test.
    1.Power Cycle
Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly.
       It will take a while.
      Restart the computer.
      Start up in Safe Mode.
       http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11212?viewlocale=en_US
    2.  Turn off Extensions, if any.
         Safari > Preferences > Extensions
    3. Turn off proxies, if selected.
System Preference > Network > Advanced  > Proxies Tab
Under "Select Protocol", uncheck any box if selected.
         Click "OK" then  "Apply"
    4. Uninstall anti-virus software, if any.

  • Cannot Access the internet on my Mac

I have a MacPro, running 10.5.1 (although when this problem began it was probably a newer version the OS if there was one). I moved offices about 2 months ago-- same facility, same network. After one day in the new digs, my internet and network access (wired) stopped working. That has lead down a long path including hours on the phone with Applecare, one visit from a certified mac repairman, several archive and installs, hundreds of dollars of tech time by the company network engineers, and a month and a half of lost productivity.
    *Internet Access:*
A wireless router has been installed, and my airport connection is set to the 192. schema. The Airport status window shows that I'm connected to the right network and full strength, however I still can't access the internet when I'm booted Mac OS. I've tried both Safari and Firefox. I can access the internet only when booted in Windows XP.
    *Office Network Access:*
At this point, via manual configuration in Network Preferences, I have sketchy access to the office shares in both Operating Systems through a wired connection. When I'm in Leopard though, I have no access to the internet and no access to the printers on the network. In Windows XP, I have access to everything, even though XP is using the same hardware to do it. There seems to be something in my Mac OS blocking IPs. This conclusion was reached due to the fact that the office share I can access are recognized by name, but internet and printers are recognized by IP, hence, I can't use them.
Network Diagnostics says my "internet connection appears to be working correctly" with all green lights on the left side, but whenever I try to browse the internet, it says the same thing but the "ISP," "Internet," and "Server" items under Network Status all say Failed with the red lights.
The Office Network Engineer, anyone I talk to at Applecare, and I are all baffled. I'm the only Mac in the company, and I'm a luxury as a designer here. No one else is having these problems, and I'm now a month and a half behind. Things aren't looking good.
Can anyone out there help me...please?
    *Other important details:*
-Office Server is Windows Server 2003 R2
-Every test that the Network Engineer has run on the server (Windows Server) has come up clean.
-I can't ping any IP's from my Mac Pro
-Traceroute yeilded the same results as everything above
-I can only access shares by the names assigned to them
-The network DNS could not Ping my Mac

"I have an ethernet cable in port 1 on my computer. That is configured manually to access ther office network."
Do you have a "real" IP address or a private (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, 172.x.x.x) IP address?
"The wireless router was connected to the company server only for the purpose of getting me online through Airport because I couldn't access it using an ethernet connection"
Could not access it because their network security blocked you by intent, or had some unknown technical difficulty?
Unless you are blocked by intent or ommission (if they have to explicitly allow your machine) I can think of no technical reason why your wired connection should not both get you on their network and on the internet in general. You should not need to be dual homed (though dual homing should work as well).
Please answer the questions above when you can - I think solving the wired LAN issue will be easier if you are not being intentionally blocked.

  • Accessing OID in a Linux Environment

Our admin username "portal" password expired, and we need to change the expiration date in our Oracle Directory Manager/Oracle Internet Directory (OID). We are familiar with accessing OID in a Windows environment, but not sure how to do so in a Linux environment.
Is OID accessible using a IE browser (i.e., is there a special port) or is it somehow accessed in the back end?
We are using Oracle-Application-Server-10g/10.1.2.0.2 on Linux. Let us know if you have any ideas.

    1. Make sure you have a local X-server (e.g. cygwin or reflexion-X)
    2. login to your linux server with x-forwarding
    3. export your display to your local x-server.
    4. start $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oidadmin
oidadmin is exactly the same as on windows.
An other option is just using your windows oidadmin tool and having it look at your linux server (in stead of you windows server)
Last option is pointing your brower to http://linuxserver/oiddas (assuming your webserver is running on port 80 and you just have to do some small maintenaince on a user)

  • No external images in Outlook 2013 & no internet access in Internet Explorer 11

I use a an automatic configuration script http://XXXXukproxy.internal.XXXXXXXX.com/proxy.pac
I also use a combination of 2 VPNs through Avaya VPN Client or Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.
When I'm connected to the VPN with the Avaya VPN Client I can't get ANY internet pages to load in Internet Explorer and I can't get ANY external images to load in Outlook 2013
I can use the exact same proxy settings in Chrome and Firefox with no problems what so ever.
If I remove the automatic configuration script I still get no internet access in Internet Explorer.
When I'm connected to the VPN with the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client it's fine. It's also fie when I'm not using any of the VPN's
Anyone got any ideas? Can't be the proxy or the VPN as it's perfectly ok in Chrome and Firefox.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
First please run Outlook in Safe Mode:
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
We may also try to change the Location of Temporary InternetExplorer Files in Internet Explorer to test the result (the steps below are for IE 10):
Internet Explorer -> Internet options -> General
tab -> Under Browsing history, click on Settings
button -> Temporary Internet Files tab -> Under Current location, click on
Move folder button -> Choose the new location, click
    OK.

  • Concurrent Users for BODS designer in TEST environment

    All,
May I know the best practices for BODS testing ? Would you please share any weblinks for BODS/ETL testing related information ?
We wanted to access the designer/master/local repository by multi testers in TEST environment. What is typical practice ?
Does the tester need access to deisgner ? if so, what are main points to be checked/tested in a job design/execution in DS designer?
    Thanks & Regards.

    Hello
I don't think your testers should have access to the Designer in the test environment.  Why?  Because when you execute jobs in production it won't be via the Designer, so if you execute tests that way it's not a true test.  The execution mechanism (typically the built in scheduler) should be used in the test environments.
Multiple testers might require a separate local reposity and data areas, however the job server can be shared for functional testing, but not for performance testing.
Basic good practice for an organisation -
    Project manager scopes a release.
Developers code in the development enviornment.
A lead developer packages code (ATL, DDL, etc.) for release candidates.
Release team (or repsonsible lead developer) promotes code to QA
    Tests performed in QA
Release team promotes code to production.
    Notes -
Developers should only have access to the development environment (maybe readonly in QA to aid debugging)
Testers should only have access to QA
Operations should only have access to production.
It takes a bit of work to get your organisation working in this way, but its worth it.

  • Table Maintenance : display only in testing environment

    Hi All,
I have a Z table , for which I have created a maintenenace dialog screen and finally assigned this to a transaction code.
The transaction code calls the maintenenace screen in a proper manner.  My requirement is that in testing environment, the transaction code should only display the records. It should not allow to change or add new entries.
How can I achieve this ?
    Thanks-

You can change the table maintenance attributes to be 'Standard Recording Routine' this will ask the user for a transport if the client is open for modifications, if the client is closed then it will allow display access only.
    Or
You could control this via authorisations.  Allocate your table an authorisation group and then only give users display access only to this authorisation group.
    Object: S_TABU_DIS
    Activity: 03 (display)
    Hope this helps.

Need to know  how can i troubleshoot this further?
    Regards
    Mahesh

I would do the troubleshooting in  following sequence.
    1. Put a wired PC on to the vlan allocated for WLAN1
    2. Check whether wired PC gets an IP & can browse internet
    3. If that works, then we know no issue of DHCP & not issue with L3/NAT routing to access internet
    4. If step2, does not work then your issue is not within wireless, you have to change the focus of your troubleshoot.
    5. If step2 works, then test a wireless client with OPEN Authentication (No ACS involvment). If this does not work, then it means wireless client does not get proper IP connectivity. Check dynamic interface configuration for this WLAN & make sure gateway addresses correctly configured. Also VLANs are trunk across to WLC from switch.
    6. If step5 works, then try your client with ACS & see the client get successfully authenticated. If not it may be WLC to ACS issue. Troubleshoot that in that case.
Do some troubleshooting like this & let us know the outcome. I am sure you will abe to find out the issue easily in this way.
