Access to owa mail - no pop/imap

I am wondering about accessing owa mail from an exchange server that has pop and imap disabled.
Few hours of googling did not yield much, apart from old, unmaintained python scripts and mrpostman.
Anybody dealing with the same problem who has found a solution?
Thanks.

I use FetchExc to grab mail from my work Exchange server and drop in in a local mailbox using procmail. Works pretty well, though I can't send mail back out as I haven't tried to figure out if there's an accessible SMTP server or not.
The link for FetchExc is: http://www.saunalahti.fi/juhrauti/index.html
It says it works for Exchange 2000/2003, but it might not be limited to just that.
Thank you.
I tried FetchExc and msfetch - both don't work because httpRedirect is disabled on the server.
Yikes.
Any other options?

  • Access Microsoft Outlook WebAccess through Mail (No POP/IMAP addresses)

Hi--I would like to use Mac OS X's Mail to download my mail from a Microsoft Exchange server. I do NOT have any pop/smtp/imap servers...Microsoft's Entourage has a built-in feature to download emails directly from the Internet using the "https://mail.mydomain.com/exchange" URL. I've tested it, and it works with my username and password.
Supposedly there is not a way to do this with Mail since I do not have actual servers, only a webaddress. Can anyone advice me, or point me in the correct direction? Plug-in? Thank you!

Also, by default exchange server 2003 only allows relaying from microsoft products... see this comment froma a Microsoft tech document on enabling IMAP:
By default, Exchange allows relaying only from authenticated clients. It is recommended that you keep this default. Clients such as Microsoft Outlook Express 6.0 and Microsoft® Office Outlook® 2003, and previous versions of Outlook Express and Outlook support SMTP authentication in addition to Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption."

  • Mac Mail setup pop, imap....etc Server Settings

Is there a list or spreadsheet showing all the mail service providers server settings?? I can setup .Mac, AOL. but in the case of Yahoo,, Earthlink, Gmail, Verizon etc. I can never get them to work. I've been through the setup assistant and doesn't help. I really dig the Mail app. but I have other email accounts that I'd like to bring em' to Mail app.
I work in legit theater and we're 95% mac and less then half use the mail app. for this problem.
I can never find server settings on their sites. If there was a list somewhere it would be helpful. Its easy enough to setup mail manually.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

For Gmail, you first need to enable POP access on the Gmail server.
    For Earthlink, follow these instructions.
The server settings are usually on the ISP's site, if you search their support for "POP", "SERVER", "EMAIL" etc, you should be able to find it. There are a lot of servers, especially with the major ISPs that may run a different server for every geographic region they serve.- As an example, those Earthlink instructions are dependent on your email address.
If you still have trouble finding the server settings for a particular ISP, give them a call or send someone at their support an email.

  • Mail, Gmail, POP/Imap

Am on leopard, with leopard mail. When I set up an account, it doesnt have the old option of POP or IMAP, it assumes. With GMAIL setup, it assumes POP, yet Gmail also supports Imap now.
With POP it works fine, I tried to manually change the config to imap and get error on new imap port 993.
So, basic question is how do I set up gmail to work properly with imap on leopard mail client? Either with direct imap setup or via manual to make it work.
    Thx,

After setting up IMAP email following Google's instructions, continue with these extra tweaks: http://5thirtyone.com/archives/862
This will properly set up your Drafts, Deleted Items, and Sent mail.
I was getting items in my Inbox just fine. I believe you have to set Root Folder Path to \[Gmail\] with the brackets around it. This option is available by right-clicking your account and select Properties. Scroll to the IMAP tab to find Root Folder Path.

  • Mail configurations pop/imap

The cox mail arrives nicely in my apple mail, configured port 25.
The aol mail does not work, how do I configure it? Port 25 does not work on aol mail, it suggest port 587, but this one will not work on the cox mail.
Cox mail is configured as "pop", aol mail as "imap" in the prefs.
Is it possible to receive both cox and aol in apple mail, and if so, how?
    Thanks, Hiltraut

  • Installation of Client Access role fails on Windows Server 2008 R2 (Execution of: "$error.Clear(); Install-ExchangeCertificate -services "IIS, POP, IMAP")

    Hello
I am trying to install Exchange Server 2010 beta 1 onto a Windows Server 2008 R2 (build 7000) machine which has also been set up as a domain controller.
However when attempting to install the Client Access role, setup fails with the error below.
Does anyone know of a way to get around this please?
I have already searched for this error and not found any similar threads.
Also every time I press the code button on this forum it crashes the browser and I keep losing the message! (IE8 from within Server R2). Also the message box is very small, will not expand and keeps jumping to the top.
    Thanks

    Hello
    Thanks for all the replies.
I have since wiped the system and installed everything again and it all worked this time so not sure what was wrong last time. I did try to uninstall all Exchange components and then uninstall IIS and Application server, reboot and re-install but I received the same error still when it came to installing the client access role.
Walter: I just attempted the standard installation which should have used the default self-signed certificate. Everything was a fresh install done at the same time on a freshly formatted PC.
For info last time when it failed to work:
    - Installed Windows Server 2008 R2
    - Installed Domain Controller role using dcpromo. I set the forest and domain as Windows Server 2008 R2
    - Added a forest trust between main domain and test Exchange domain (set up as ex2010.local)
    - Installed IIS and Application Server role
    - Installed Hyper-v role
    - Installed Desktop Experience feature
    - Installed Exchange and recieved the error
When it worked I set up the forest and domain in Windows Server 2008 mode (i.e. not R2), installed Exchange first and then set up the forest trust and then Hyper-v. It did say it failed to configure dns which was probably because it started trying to do automatic updates half way through the dcpromo! DNS seems to work ok though.
I did notice this time that Hyper-v gave a warning about the virtual network adapter not being set up correctly and the local network did not work correctly although I could access the internet. Not sure if this could have been related to the cause of the problem previously. For now I have disabled the virtual network until I get time to try and get it working and so the mail will work in the meantime.
I also noticed that Hyper-v added an extra 443 ssl binding to the default website so as it had 2 bindings on port 443 it refused to start. After deleting one it worked.
I decided to install Exchange onto a domain controller as it is only a test and I wouldn't do it in a live environment. I am also short of test machines! It didn't give me any warnings about this actually, I think previous versions warn you that it is not recommended.
Andreas and Chinthaka: I did not know about the requirement to run the domain at 2003 mode. The main domain is running in 2008 mode with Exchange 2007 so I assume this is just a temporary beta related requirement. It does seem to be working (second attempt) so far in a 2008 mode domain although I haven't had a chance to fully test it yet.
    Thanks
    Robin
P.S. Sorry it's taken me a while to reply!

  • Mail crashes w/IMAP account access; EXC_BAD_ACCESS; KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE

My Mail app crashes with error (see below) when trying to access an IMAP account. I installed Adobe Creative Suite 2, that caused Mail and Safari to both fail. I uninstalled CS2 but that didn't help.
I tried a different user account, and both Safari and Mail worked fine.
    I deleted com.apple.mail.plist and com.apple.Safari.plist but that didn't help.
I re-started Mail with no accounts, successfully added the .Mac account and a POP account. Then as soon as I added an IMAP account it started failing the same way: it opens okay then fails as soon as the IMAP account checks mail. Using Mail when logged in under a different user id doesn't have this problem, so it doesn't appear to be a bad email message.
I've searched through this forum (thanks!) and believe I've collected the right data, but am unsure what to do next ... i.e. exactly where is the problem!
    thanks for any help,
    Chris

    Hi, BDAqua,
No, no 3rd party or Internet Helpers, BUT I did load Adobe Creative Suite 2 (Photoshop, Illustrator, and other apps to make me smarter, faster, and more handsome. It had some automatic updater functions, and given that Mail and Safari suffered catastrophic failures I believe they put some hooks in there).
I've since unloaded the Suite -- I should know better than to load an entire suite. Also, I now have 23GB of space on my harddrive, and wonder if I ran out of room during the install. There was no error, but CS2 comes on 4 DVDs so I wonder ...
    Hi, Mulder,
I deleted the cache files - lots of stuff. I deleted two of the other files (didn't have downloads.plist).
Unfortunately, Mail still dies when it checks for mail in the IMAP account.

  • Converting my Mail from POP to IMAP

I am considering converting my ISP email account in Apple Mail from POP to IMAP. I had never given this much (any) thought until I recently got an iPhone and noticed that the email account that it setup for my ISP email (Charter) was an IMAP one. This has created a little bit of a conflict and has sometimes resulted in my inbox or get mail on my desktop Apple Mail being "locked up" for a while when I have just previously read the mail on my iPhone. (I get the message on my iMac that my ISP email is currently in use by another mail client). I had never run into this problem before and I've read that it does happen and happens more often when you have both POP and IMAP clients trying to access the same mail server.
One question is do I just go into the accounts settings on Mail on my iMac and change the incoming and outgoing servers to the appropriated IMAP ones? Or should I create a whole new account in Mail and use the IMAP settings from the start? What will happen to the folders and subfolders I already have in my Mail program? Going forward with IMAP, will I be able to download the emails from the server like I have always done and categorize them into folders using Mail?
This is all kind of confusing right now. Thanks.
    Steve M.

    You're welcome.
Is there any harm in leaving my desktop Mail as is (POP account) and just realizing that I may experience an occasional "lock out"?
There is no harm with doing so, but I'm not sure why you would want to.
How do I release the email account from my iPhone?
There is no option for this.
I already have my data settings on the iPhone to "fetch" every hour--not to push. But does this apply to the IMAP account on the iPhone?
Push access for received messages applies to an email account that supports Push access. The following email accounts support Push access for received messages:
    MobileMe
    Exchange
A Yahoo account created with the Yahoo account preset.
"If" I decided to convert my desktop Mail account to IMAP, could I not just "add" the new account? Would I necessarily have to delete the POP account?
You don't have to delete the POP account, but you would want to make it inactive or disable the account with the Mail app - Mail > Settings > Accounts > Select the Account > Under the Advanced tab for the account settings deselect Enable this account.
If you want access to the locally stored messages in the POP account's Inbox and Sent mailbox with the iPhone's Mail app, you want want to copy the messages to a server stored mailbox or mailboxes after creating the account as an IMAP account.
Can I setup the account as POP on my iPhone and just keep it all POP? Or is this dependent on Charter's policies?
This depends on Charter, but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to access the account as a POP account with the iPhone's Mail app as well, but this will not get rid of the "locked out" problem on occasion.
A POP account is from the early dark ages of email account access with an email client on a computer when the overwhelming majority at the time had access to a single computer only - before there were laptops and laptops became mainstream, and before there were handheld cell phones much less cell phones in the smart phone category. Until the iPhone, phones in the smart phone category were primarily targeted and sold to the business/enterprise market, not to the consumer market. The iPhone changed all that - just look at all the copies and different phones in the smart phone category that surfaced after the original
Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only and includes a number of limitations that are not a problem with an IMAP account, which is specifically designed to be accessed with more than one email client.
There is no "locked out" problem with an IMAP account. You can store the account's Drafts, Sent, Trash, and Junk mailboxes on the server with the Mail app on your Mac, and the account's Drafts, Sent, and Trash mailboxes on the server with the iPhone's Mail app. The account's Junk mailbox stored on the server with the Mail app on your Mac will be available automatically when accessing the account with the iPhone's Mail app along with all other server stored mailboxes created for the account with the Mail app on your Mac or via webmail access for the account using a browser. You can transfer received and sent messages to additional server stored mailboxes by category with the Mail app on your Mac and with the iPhone's Mail app which will be reflected automatically with each email client. All server stored mailboxes are kept synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account. Sent a message with the iPhone's Mail app and the message will be available in the account's Sent mailbox with the Mail app on your Mac automatically and vice-versa. Read a new message with the Mail app on your Mac and the message will be marked as read automatically when accessing the account's Inbox mailbox with the Mail app on your Mac and vice-versa. Transfer a received message to a user created server stored mailbox with iPhone's Mail app and the message will be available in that server stored mailbox automatically when accessing the server stored mailbox with the Mail app on your Mac and vice-versa.
I keep the Mail app on my Mac launched and running 24/7 checking my IMAP account for new messages. I have the account's Junk mailbox stored on the server with the Mail app on my Mac, which is available automatically when accessing the account with the iPhone's Mail app and the same with my iPad 2. Any received message that is marked as junk and moved to the account's Junk mailbox stored on the server with the Mail app on my Mac is reflected automatically with the account's Inbox mailbox and Junk mailbox with the iPhone's Mail app and with the iPad's Mail app. The junk mail filter with the Mail app on my Mac is serving as the junk mail filter for the account with my iPhone and iPad as well - remotely since all server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account are kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account.
NONE of this is available with a POP account.
If you have the option to access your email account as an IMAP account and you access the account with an email client on more than one computer or device, to me it is a no-brainer which way to go - IMAP, which is specially designed for this.

  • Using POP/IMAP Mail inside company firewall

The IT at my work place blocks all ports except 80 and 443.
Can I use POP/IMAP accounts over HTTP or HTTPS?

I take it that you want to get personal email while at work which may or may not be okay with your company policy - but that's for you to decide.
    A way around it.
I use Oceanic Time Warner RoadRunner as an ISP and it has an option that allows me to access and send email when I am on the road called Web Mail that is accessed from my browser home page (RoadRunner). Mail won't allow you to access your normal mail except for viewing not sending messages when you're not in your local area, so Web Mail takes the place of using Mail. I access it through http.
Your email provider should have something similar with a web address as long as you can access it through your computer at work.

    Hi StuNYC,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're seeing an alert message when opening Mail on your iOS devices. Do you have multiple email accounts setup on the devices? Take a look at the article below, it provides suggestions that will resolve most issues that  cause an alert like that to appear in when starting the Mail app.

    I hope this helps.

  • Mail server stops IMAP and POP services, SMTP won't work

    Hello fellow Lion Server users,
I am trying hard to get my mail server productive. I want to fetch mails from my ISP's IMAP mail server and distribute it to all my devices via my own mail server. Also the mails shall be sent via ISPs SMTP.
After managing it being able to send and receive email in the way I want I realized that web server was down. Because I want to use the integrated web mail and Wiki server I had to fix that. After restoring to default values in httpd.conf and others I got that problem solved just to realize that I am not able any more to send and receive email. I would be grateful if you could help me out.
The current status is that Server admin app claims the mail server still running, but POP, IMAP stopped whilst SMTP is running. In my mail.app I can send Emails successfully but they never reach the addressee. Receiving is just not possible at all. The connection doctor in integrated in Mail.app won't find a problem. It claims SMTP and IMAP connections I used before are working.
I use a dyndns forwarding to my server at home. Lion server is up to date. Port forwarding in the router is enabled (for each port Apple suggests).
Even in local network (with this very machine) it is not possible to successfully send or receive emails using localhost. My guess is that something went wrong in the configuration files but I don't know where I have to look and for what exactly.
I also tried a program called MailServe after running into the first problems with the mail server which did so far a good job in configuring of Postfix, Dovecot and Fetchmail but now I am stuck.
Do you have any hints for me, your help would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

I think I may have just figured out a part of this puzzle. I have more than just my att account set up in Mail. Even though all of my accounts are setup to use the ATT SMTP server only (with the appropriate ATT login info) I am getting the same rejection notices as everyone else.
I noticed that in the rejection notice though, that it was saying I was sending mail from my other main account, not my sbcglobal (ATT) account. I thought that was strange since I set up all my accounts to use the SBC (ATT) login info for ATT's SMTP Server. So obviously it is a problem in Mail. Mail is somehow confused and sending some wrong piece of info to the SMTP server. When I changed the sender from my other account to my SBCGLOBAL account, the mail went right out with no other problems.
So this isn't a solution for those of you who are struggling with only an ATT account, but I think it points to a possible problem within Mail. The answer might be to delete the accounts in Mail and set them back up again. It's looking like Apple might need to make a tweak to Mail to fix this if indeed this is the correct cause. Hope this helps someone.

  • Mail yahoo pop access not working.

This has been going on for 2 days now. Re set up my account in mail but nothing just the ! next to the mailbox. Anyone else having problems?

Sending an email is something totally different again - you can send yourself or anyone else an email to any email address.
You can also send or forward any email while on your Yahoo account to yourself or anyone else.
Setting up Yahoo to automatically forward emails to your home email address is something else. Here is an excerpt from Yahoo Help:
+The ability to access Yahoo! Mail using an email reader program such as Outlook, Eudora, or Thunderbird is only available to customers of our premium Yahoo! Mail Plus service. To determine whether you have purchased this service, please visit the My Services page.+
Although this does not mention Apple Mail, it functions exactly like Outlook, etc. so it will not work. Here is the link to the entire help page:
    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/mailplus/pop/pop-35.html;_ylt=An EHIP08O6GRC7cEYzjbTbe7myN4
I have no idea why it might have worked for you previously, but according to Yahoo, it cannot be done unless you pay for the service.
So, unless I've totally misunderstood what you are trying to say, I do not have a different answer and it does not have anything to do with your Mac or OS.

  • TS3899 How do you change ios 8 mail default from imap to pop?

I scan e-mails on the road with my iPhone but only respond to emergent ones.  I work all non-emergent e-mail at home on my PC.   With iOS 8 software, my iPhone e-mail defaults to IMAP, which causes any e-mails read/opened on my phone to be automatically deleted from my PC's incoming mail.  That may be fine for some, but not for me... and I'm guessing a lot of other folks who have the same parallel mail arrangement.
My work-around is to archive all e-mails read, which I want to keep, and then resend them to myself when I get home.  What a bother.  With a pop account, all devices receive, send, and delete independently of each other.  That allows me to scan and delete unnecessary e-mails on the iPhone and work those I want to keep when I return home.  Yes, I have to delete unwanted e-mails again, but that is not a big deal.
The iOS software update needs to allow a pop, pop3, or IMAP incoming server option.  If it does, I'm unable to figure it out.

The response that suggests putting in a dummy e-mail works perfectly with the new iOS 8 software.  Thanks for the help.  I now have my phone configured back to a pop vice IMAP.
Incidentally, this all started when I noticed that a lot of my iPhone memory was being used to store some 500+ phantom e-mails that had already been deleted.  An iPhone forum string indicated that I needed to delete my email account and then reinstall it.  I did so and the phantom emails disappeared... but then my account locked into the IMAP format.
Thank you again for the help.

Reset your password. Be sure your new one meets the requirements for length (8) and characters (at least one upper case and one number).
