Access to particular member combination in Hyperion Planning

Hi All,
Hyperion Planning cube has costcenter dimension and Entity(Location) dimension. We have an issue where a user requires access in Hyperion planning
User wants access to
·         Entity A to a particular costcenter CC1 and
·         Entity B to all costcenters
If all costcenters are provided access, User will be able to view all costcenters for Entity A also.
Kindly let me know if any one of you have faced this kind of requirement and have any solution.
Thank you!

Hi Sowjanya,
Access can restricted at Cost Center level basically access is maintained on four dimensions SAVE-Scenario,Account,Version and Entity But in your scenario it can be acheived by doing something like in the form have a additional row/column for custom dimension and input some random numbers which will be something like
Entity A -> Cost Center A1= 12
Entity A -> Cost Center A2=13
Entity A -> Cost Center A3=14
Entity B -> Cost Center A1= 12
Entity B -> Cost Center A2= 13
Entity B -> Cost Center A3= 14
Which ever the combination you wanted to hide make it as #missing and try to supress rows having #missing , its just a rough logic i can give as i had this idea coming to my mind but didnt implement.
This is incase if there is a single for for submission and review etc and if it needs to be acheived  through adhoc analysis as well , not sure of the implementation . Happy to see different approaches.
Thanks
Amith

    Hello!
    How can I get the name of the member prior or next to current or even mdshifted?

  • Data Integration from E-Biz Suite to Hyperion Planning

    Hi Experts,
    I am using EPM 11.1.1.1.0.
    I have a requirement of integrating data from Oracle Gl to Hyperion.
    I am going to use ODI for achieving the same but i observed a fact in GL around which i need some help.
    Oracle GL maintains a relation between the entities and acconuts, (e.g a particular entity budgets against some specific accounts) ,however i do not see how in Hyperion I can replicate the same between the Entity and Accounts dimensions.
    Can somebody please put some light on this...?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards.

    Alicia,
    It sounds like you're talking about cross-validation rules. There are two issues this lack of functionality presents in Hyperion Planning:
    1) You want forms to be dynamic so that users only see the Entity/Account combinations that are relevant.
    2) You want security to prevent users from sending data to invalid Entity/Account combinations.
    Hyperion Planning doesn't support this requirement well, although there are some workarounds to "simulate" cross-dimensional security.
    This post may help explain:
    How to enforce valid member combinations in Planning?
    Hope this helps,

  • Data not exist for member combination in web analysis report

    When I run the report in web analysis studio iam able to find the data for a particular member combination.When I try to run the same report in workspace iam not finding any data for same member combination.Can U please help me to resolve this issue

    Hi Swetha,
    You must've realized that- Even if you select only the desired members, you end up being able to drill-down unwanted members. Correct ? :)
    The only way, I believe, is- To create a users' group at your Data source side, perhaps, Essbase & provision this new group with a Metaread filter which prevents him/her from Drilling down to the leaf node.
    PS: Giving Read access might also let the user not see the data for children. But, if you want to hide the members also, Metaread+ is the way to go.

  • Remove access for each member of a particular dimension from Hyperion Planning Applciation

    We are trying to remove access for groups for each member of a particular dimension( which has more than 1000 members) of a Hyperion Planning application. We are going through Administration->Manage DImensions -> member , Under security click view and select the group and then remove access But the problem is there are more than 1000 members under this dimension , so it will be time consuming to go to each member and then remove access for the group. Is there any other way we can do this?
    Also is there a way to bulk delete native directory groups from Hyperion Shared services, instead of deleting each native group manually one by one?

    The reaso we want to go for Relational tables is that when we did Exportsecurity utility for that planning application  and imported back the SecFile.txt without doing any changes ,still it errored out giving errors like :
    "The following access not imported:-"PLN-ORG-0278-999 Bureau Strtgc & Oprtnl ""PLNning",0278-999,READWRITE,MEMBER due toInvalid user name found in the file."
    It is erroing out even if we did not do any modifications to the secfile.txt.
    Moreover there are more than 1000 members for which we have to remove access permissions manually one by one. It is a tedious process.
    So we are looking at other options like , which relational tables have got Native directory groups information, and the sql queires we can execute to remove the unwanted Native directory groups from Shared Services?

  • How to enforce valid member combinations in Planning?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to enforce which combinations of members are valid in a Planning application? In Planning, each data cell represents the intersection of a member from each dimension. However, it is likely that not every combination of members is valid. For example, perhaps the combination of an Entity dimension member (like North Region) and an Account dimension member (like Salaries) should never exist because the North Region shoud not have data for Salaries. Is there a way to prevent data entry into the intersection of the North Region entity and Salaries account? Is there a way to define cross-dimension combination rules to prevent entry into cells that are defined to be invalid?
    I currently have a Planning application that takes Actual data from another system, and the data coming from this system has defined member combinations that are allowed and not allowed. Is there a way I can define these same validation rules in the Planning application to maintain integrity and make sure that "impossible" combinations of data are not input into Planning? Thank you.

    I am sorry to say that there is no way through Planning security to enforce combinations of members.
    It's the nature of the OLAP beast below Planning's cover -- Essbase.
    You can use security to restrict access to individual members, but cannot state "This Entity by these three Accounts only". What you can do is try to set up your forms so that this sort of metadata relationship shows up on the form -- attribute dimensions are often used to try to do this. It is an imperfect solution.

  • How can I delete only shared instance of a member from Hyperion Planning

    Hello,
    Can anyone tell me how I can instruct the Hyperion Planning IKM to delete a only specific instance of a shared member from Hyperion Planning? I've tried specifying the shared member, the parent of the shared instance, 'Shared' as the data storage type, and 'Delete level 0' as the operation. Instead of deleting just the shared instance under the specified parent, however, the IKM deleted the base member, which in turn deleted all shared instances of the member and all the data for the member (lucky thing I'm working in a development environment!). At one point I thought I had things working as I wanted, but now I think I must have mistaken.
    Does anyone know definitively whether only a specific instance of a shared member can be deleted from Planning and, if so, exactly how to do it?
    Thanks very much.

    Well, with a careful review of my ODI interfaces and some additional testing I found my problem. My interface for one dimension was defined exactly as it should be and it worked as expected, whereas I found I had failed to activate the mapping for the data storage property in my interface for another dimension (DOH!). Naturally, the latter interface deleted the base member because the default data storage property value is 'Store'.
    Thanks for testing and confirming that deleting only a specific shared instance of a member from Hyperion Planning does work, John.
    (P.S. to John: I can't see how to change my "Helpful" tag on your first reply to "Correct", so if you want to post another reply, I'll mark it "Correct" (for more points!). Or, if you can tell me how to modify the "Helpful" tag to "Correct" I'll do that instead.)

  • How to find out total of number of users accessing Hyperion Planning applications ?

    Hi All,
    Could someone help me with the details of how to find out total number of users who are accessing Hyperion Planning application in Env.?
    This is with regard to licenses so wanted accurate and unique information,
    Thanks
    Amith

    Hello Amith,
    I think you should have a look at the blog of Cameron Lackpour http://camerons-blog-for-essbase-hackers.blogspot.be/
    In the "Shared Services Stupid Trick" blogs, he shows how to find the real access to an application. The side benefit is that it is amusing to read.
    In how far this is OK for the licenses is written on another page. You likely need to use the same method as Oracle does. Ask the Salesperson how to do this. (I am curious what his/her reply is).

  • How to migrate dimension member text files from ODI to Hyperion Planning

    Hi
    We are having an issue with ODI that it was not connecting to planning.
    Later with some instructions from oracle, we have tried to set some RMI path in websphere and we tested the RMI connectivity test.
    It was successfully connecting to planning.
    Then we want to test that ODI is connecting to planning or not.
    For this I think if anyone can send the doc relating to dimension member upload thru ODI to hyperion planning using text files, it will be helpful.
    Appreciate if anyone can help us on this.
    Please communicate to [email protected] for doc sending.
    Thanks
    Rajesh Reddy

    Go through His(John's) earlier blogs which very clearly explains how to get connected & keep the ball rolling.
    If you're so scared to use the existing connections, you may want to-
    i) Set up new Master & work repository;
    ii) Do few quick configurations from Topology Manager;
    iii) Create your project, models, Interface;
    Let us know if something isn't still clear.

  • Hyperion Planning Smart View issue with Member Names & Aliases

    Hi,
    Im using Smart View "Essbase" Connection to a Hyperion Planning Application, ver 11.1.1.3, however with the essbase connection i am not able to select at the smart view options to see aliases, members or both. I change the setting ( Duplicate member names allowed =true) directly at the properties of the outline in EAS, and now i am able to see the aliases, however if time I refresh using web planning/workspace this setting is undone. Furthermore i dont thing i should use it with planning. Any comments?
    Kind Regards

    First of all I hope you have not changed the properties of the outline in EAS for a planning application.
    For more information on using aliases in smartview have a read of :- Smartview --- Display options --- to display alias names
    Also you will only be able to view member name or aliases not both at the same time.
    Cheers

  • How to delete Hyperion Planning member using ODI

    Hi All,
    Anyone know how to delete Hyperion Planning member using ODI? And how to update account type on Hyperion Planning Using ODI?
    e.g.:

    Hi,
    To delete a member you use the Operation column, the following values can be used.
    Update – This is the default and is used if not populated, it Add, updates, moves the member being loaded.
    Delete Level 0 - Deletes the member being loaded if it has no children
    Delete Idescendants –Deletes the member being loaded and all of its descendants.
    Delete Descendants –Deletes the descendants of the member being loaded, but does not delete the member itself.
    Does the member you trying to change to Revenue have a variance reporting set to "Expense" as it will need to be set to "Non Expense"
    Also in your interface you can add logging options in the IKM, this maybe will give a clearer indication where your problem lies.

  • How to pull particular member in Planning Forms.

    Hi All,
    Just have a query how can we pull particular members in Planning Data form formula row. Need to apply some formula based on particular member caluculation.
    It can be done by row reference but wanna make it dynamic in nature as row might change later on.
    Thanks In Advance.
    Regards,
    Pradeep

    You may need to update the member twice, once to remove the UDA and then to insert the new UDA
    To remove the UDA use <NONE> in the UDA column.

  • Accessing new application using direct Hyperion Planning web client URL

    I added new Hyperion Planning application. From standard workspace URL [http://demodrive:19000/workspace/index.jsp], I can now access new application.
    However, when I use the direct Hyperion Planning web client URL [http://demodrive:8300/HyperionPlanning/LogOn.jsp], new application is not included as one of available applications to select. What am I missing?

    Hi,
    I find it a little strange that you can see the planning application through workspace but not directly, I would usually expect problems the other way round.
    One thing to check for if that you don't have multiple planning instances, check in the configuration utility, you could have an instance pointing to one set of apps and another instance pointing to a different set of apps.
    Though saying this I would expect workspace to show the same apps as going directly.
    Cheers

  • Copying user access in Hyperion Planning

    Hi All,
    I am supposed to copy the one user access to another user...I know we can copy user access to a newuser or existing user in Essbase....Is this possible in Hyperion planning 4.0..??Please let me know..

    If you dont have access setup by groups, there is no easy way. Well.. what i am suggesting is relatively easy but you need planning server access for this.
    1. Export all security using exportsecurity.cmd, you can set parameters to make sure you are exporting exactly what you need.
    2. find the user whose access you want to copy.
    3. replicate these rows for new user.
    4. then run importsecurity.cmd to import access for new user.Where these Exportsecurity.cmd,Importsecurity.cmd statements available ? and How to use those in Planning web ?

  • Planning member combination for Webform

    Hi
    we have an On save BR (having complex calculations) which runs for more than 1 Hour. I have tried running the BR from EAS console for a single combination (Row and Column dimension members from webform) of data inputted via webform, BR runs for less than 10 minutes.
    Is there any way we can identify the member combination for which the data is inputted in webform and pass the members as runtime prompts to the BR?
    Thanks
    Sethu

    There isn't a feature which does what you want. I would assume that the BR is running on the whole dimension hierarchies (all Product for example).
    However you could use adjust the form layout to use Global Variables which act as Run Time Prompts, which can be hidden on the form - although this would only work if there was one member from that dimension, for example this wouldn't work on the products member if you had a list of products in the row, however if you had products dimension in the page drop down this would work.
    Check out the Understanding Runtime Prompts section in the Planning Admin guide:
