Access to user's outlook calendar without their knowledge/permission?

No problem.  Sorry to seem shady.  Ive been a spiceworks lurker for a while, and also, I also felt this was a little odd for a request, but the company handbook does state that any emails/information etc are property of the company, and all of that jazz.
I think i figured it out anyhow.
Thanks for the help, and your honesty.  I hope i dont get blackballed from here for asking this :|

So, I got a weird request from a manager of a department recently.  She wants to be able to view one of her reports calendars (We use outlook 2013 attached to office 365) without their knowledge/permission.
Ethical objections aside, is this even possible?  Nothing I have found supports this, and I am perfectly fine telling her that it is not possible.  Aside from logging in as the user, and sharing the calendar (which they would be able to see it is shared, anyhow), is this possible?

Call it phishing or not, any website designed to emulate another with the primary goal of obtaining one's personal information through deception is easily accomplished. You called it a façade, which is as good an description as any. It can be performed with most an hour of work, and uploaded to any server willing to host it. They have been known to be attached to legitimate websites, often educational institutions for which security is lax, and in which many people with too much time on their hands have sufficient privileges to modify the site at will.
Constructing a more elaborate website that faithfully reproduces a secure webmail page populated with functional links would simply take more effort with probably more individuals working on it, but it is by no means beyond the realm of possibility.
Perhaps the Apple Genius was describing something different, or not, but the point is that it is certainly possible for someone to screen or otherwise view your email messages. It's simple, given just a couple of pieces of your account information. The most common means of obtaining that information is through deception, a low-tech social exploit that has been with us for thousands of years.

  • Allow Army military soldiers to access and sync Enterprise Outlook content with their iOS device

There's millions of soldiers that's unable to check their enterprise email because it requires us to insert a CAC (Common Access Card) card reader. A CAC card is pretty much our military ID with a chip with all our information and access certificates.

When is Apple going to let soldiers finallybe able to access their outlook email without the use of a CAC card reader. There's many issues in the military about soldiers not being able to get the appropriate information because they cannot access their email at a moments notice. I provided a link above that may be related to iOS being approved by the Department of Defence for enterprise access. Please let us soldiers be able to do this.

  • How Can Logged-In User Go To Calendar Without Another Log-In?

I am developing two community websites with some "password-protected" pages for access by residents only.  I am using Dreamweaver CS5, with HTML, CSS, and PHP/MySQL server-side programming.  I want to add (1) a Calendar of Events, (2) a Photo Gallery, and (3) a Discussion Forum --- all of which will be for residents only, who have previously logged in. My web host provides some free applications (e.g. "phpBB"), but they require "User Registration" and "User Login", both separate from and independent from my website.
    MY QUESTIONS:
How can I avoid a second "User Login" for the residents (who have previously logged in to my website) for applications such as, "phpBB", "WebCalendar", etc., and also keep unauthorized people out?
Would use of Dreamweaver "extensions" and/or purchased applications avoid a second "User Login" for the residents who have previously logged in to my website?
Would you please recommend which applications I could consider for these "non-profit" websites (i.e. not too expensive = under $100.)?

    1.  phpBB has many mods and extensions.  Have you checked out their website?  I am certain that their community will be able to recommend a good gallery and calendar mod/extension.  This is unless you need access level restrictions on pages in which case you may need a CMS (eg: Wordpress, Drupal, CMSMadeSimple, etc) installed on top of phpBB (again same rules apply you can go to them or phpBB for calendar and gallery).
    2.  Don't think so.  You are talking about building around specific scripts therefore you should work with their product as a base and not another.
    3.  Also when working with non-profits talk to some companies who sell commercial products.  Many offer non-profit discounts.

  • What is the default user in outlook calendar permissions?

Hi all, what is "default" in the terms of permissions in outlook - please see the screen shot below
I need to give everyone access to my calendar but i do not understand the outlook permissions feature
Any suggestions would be much appreciated
    thanks

By giving "Default" permissions in your calendar, you're giving them to everyone on the Exchange server.
For example, if you want everyone to be able to view the details of your appointments, you can give Default access to read "Full Details".
If you also want them to be able to create appointments in your calendar, tick the appropriate check boxes under Write.

    No.
Apple values the privacy and security of their customers, even if you don't.

  • HP Utillity installed without my knowledge/permission?

So, I looked in my launchpad and saw that HP Utillity was there, I did not know nor authorize such an installation. It installed today or something because it wasnt there yesterday. So maybe my printer did it, but how come it diddent do it sooner? I used the printer many times before without it. I think it is a legit app, since it was connected to the printer but, how come I did not authorize this?

The Utility is in hard drive level Library/Printers/HP/Utilities. It was installed when you installed the driver for the printer. Why it suddenly showed up in Launchpad, I can't explain.

  • Blocking users from syncing calendars and contacts from itunes

Is there a way to block users from syncing the corporate GAL and their Outlook calendars from their company computer?

Thanks for the answer Simon. That seems simple enough but there are some things which aren't clear.
If I create accounts on the server for the users independently (ie not ownership of the home folder) they're going to have different UID's. Surely this means that even with the same account name and password, they're going to be treated as unique users. Does that not affect who has write access? I don't know how the Calendar and Contact servers work so this may be irrelevant.
How do you "have the server host their calendar and contact details"? Copying the files for the existing local users to the new users on the server will leave them with invalid permissions.
I have read that using the Calendar and Contact components of Server.app is not a supported way of syncing across machines and that they're intended to be used for shared information rather than syncing. But maybe there is no way to avoid an "unsupported method" without moving the home folder. Is this a method you're using?
I'll do a bit of testing with this but would also be grateful for any additional hints.

  • Change default Outlook Calendar GPO?

Not sure if this is is the right thread, however is there a GPO to keep the users outlook calendar as their default?
On our virtual desktops (non persistent), if a user has access to a shared calendar, then when they open outlook it defaults to that calendar
This has only starting happening since we have started using Outlook 2013 with Exchange 2013 (PC is WIndows 8.1).
Anyone know of a way to prevent this, ideally GPO due to the desktops being non persistent.
On stand alone machines it works fine.
    Thanks

  • Missing Outlook calendar items

    Hi,
Just got the new BB Curve for my birthday and am still getting used to it (I was an old Palm Treo 650 user).  Yesterday, everything synced fine on my BB and Outlook, however today all my Outlook calendar items are missing.  They are on my BB, but not my work Outlook.
How can I get them back to my Outlook calendar without re-keying?  Thanks in advance for any help.
    Taitia

    Hi Brian,
We use MS Outlook Exchange and I was told by a coworker to do the following.  Look at the meeting requests with attachments by size of the file.  Remove any attachments from the meeting requests that caused the file size to be greater than 1MB and save them offline.  This is even for meetings that are in the past.  Once they are all less than 1MB, power your iPhone or iPad down completely.  Turn it back on an viola they should be all back.  It worked for me.
    Good Luck

  • How to stop icloud from removing outlook calendar? very frustrated!

Two problems happen when icloud runs in win7 and outlook 2010:
    (1) icloud remove all outlook calendar without syncronizing.
    (2) icloud does not sent out new invitation events.
I am very frustrated because icloud is supposed to syncronize without changing anything in my outlook. I should say I really hated it because of frustration, and more importantly hours spent on trying to fix it without success.

  • How to subcribe to a published Outlook calendar in iCal

I use MS Outlook for work and iCal for my personal calendar.... I use my iPhone for business and personal use. I can't use MS Exchange on my iPhone to sync my Outlook calendar without it overwriting my iCal appointments.
I have published my MS Outlook calendar [privately] and want to subscribe to it in my iCal, but have been unsuccessful.
Do I need to work-around it somehow by subscribing to it from Entourage, Google, Yahoo! etc first then subscribe to that calendar? I'm game with any work-around; whatever will work, I have tons of appointments I need to track that are business and personal. Using MS Outlook directly for any personal use is out of the question.
Bottom line - I want my MS Outlook calendar (work calendar) merged with my iCal (personal calendar) so I can have both on my iPhone.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Have you ever gotten an answer to this question? I'm researching new phones. I'm trying to merge and globalize the whole shabang. And I'm like you -- Outlook at work, iCal at home.

  • How do I fix meeting requests/invitations default to ms outlook calendar and do not show up on iCloud calendar?

This is frustrating and seems to be a known issue. Regular calendar items work fine but any meeting invitations sent to and accepted on PC running Outlook 2010 with iCloud add in only show up on default (local) calendar. Must add them manually. Also meeting requests sent from same PC configuration are being hijacked by iCal/iCloud feature and prompt the receiver to accept through iCloud interface rather than a regular Outlook email invite, though those meeting do show up on end user's Outlook calendar. And meeting requests sent to a group gives an STMP error. Is there an update or newer version that fixes any of these issues?  I turned off MobileMe add in but doesn't help. We use iCloud and like it because we need the calendar and contact features to sync between the PC and iPhone and iPad, which works fine.

Outlook will not allow a subscribed calendar to be the default, unless it is an Exchange calendar. You can't change this behaviour unfortunately.

  • BES Sync - duplicate Outlook calendar entries

I have an 8703 that I recently synced with our BES. For some reason, the user's Outlook calendar is showing duplicate appointments/meetings etc. Is there a setting on the BB that can be changed to remedy this?

This happens because you are synchronizing two times (wireless and manually)
You need to delete one of the entries and sync again.
Plug your device into the USB
    Open desktop manager.
    Open Backup.
    Open Advanced.
Once the device is scanned it will show up on the right side the list .
Highlight the calendar and use the Clear button near the bottom.
If I help you with any inquire, thank you for click kudos in my post.
If your issue has been solved, please mark the post was solved.

  • How can I view someone's specific work schedule within outlook 2010 if their calendar is shared?

I would like to be able to do the following
    1) access different user's calendars
    2) see their specific work schedule
    3) possibly add appointments
    4) Also some users have different schedules on different days. How can this be entered?
    Thank you.
    Aline Vida

You need the appropriate permissions, but assuming you do have permission, go to Calendar module. Right click on Other Calendars group name (or any group name) and choose Add Calendar, find the person's name and open their calendar. This will open it in
your outlook and add it to your calendar navigation bar.
