Accessibility Features in Dreamweaver

I am currently designing a site and was wondering how you set
the access keys (you press alt and certain number and this takes
you to specific page) like the ones found on the following site:

Any help would be much appreciated. Also any other
accessibility features (apart from Alt tags) would be great!

My feeling on Access keys is DON'T use them ... its more
because the key
combos are already used by screen readers, I work for the
government in the
UK on one of the biggest UK websites and we regularly discuss
accessibility,

Oh and Re: Alt tags - please don't stuff them full, and I
hate "photo of
tree" leave it blank if it has nothing to do with the article

Access levels in dreamweaver cs4

Hi,
I have been playing around with dreamweaver cs4 using the tutorials and videos i have thanks to you guys.
I created a simple login mysql database and used the login features within dreamweaver cs4 which was great and so simple.
I have came across login to a secured site so many times over the past few years pulling down sample asp with access scripts and never getting it right.worked first time no problem.
however what i do also get asked is access level security for a secured area. i noticed in the login objects properties there was an option "secure page and get access level from database table" however what i want to be able to do is have it so an admin would see all contacts in the database but the individual agents only have access to their own assigned contacts.
i would be greatful anyone could point me in right direction from within dreamweaver to do this, also not sure how i would setup the table in mysql to reflect this?
any pointers or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the answer this is very useful however I still find that Dreamwever defaults back to writing in CSS, I have to go to the manel every time and switch from CSS style to Inline style which is very irritating. Is there any way to disable writing in CSS all together like their used to be in CS3..in the preferences.

Depends on your code. If your site uses Server-side Includes, it's quite possible the footers are in a separate file in your site folder such as footer.php or footer.incl, or footer.html.
If that's the case here, you need a local testing server to see them in your parent page.

It is an orphan that will be removed from EMC is a future update. The feature itself has been removed from 2010, you can no longer access SharePoint or file servers through OWA. There is still "direct file" access in OWA, but in the spirit of being able to directly open an attachment without being forced to use the web viewer.Brian Day, Overall Exchange & AD Geek

Accessibility feature not working - using white on black contrasting colors

There is an accessibility feature that allows a pdf file to be viewed in other than the default black on white background. The choices are white or yellow or green text on a black background. This last worked for me with reader v7 ... neither version 8 or the newest version 9.3.0 works correctly ... when white on black is selected the file is still displayed in the default black on white format. Does anyone know if there is an Adobe product manager who would be able to confirm this problem ... or perhaps have a workaround for it?

The replace colors feature in Reader only changes the color of the primary page background, so if the author added a background to the document (even if the added background is white) then this might cause the issue you describe. One thing that may help is if you enable reflow mode, as this forces extra backgrounds to disappear. You can try this by locating the option in the view menu or by hitting Ctrl+4.

IPad zoom accessibility feature doesn't work anymore

For years I have been using the zoom accessibility feature on my 1st generation iPad.
Two days ago, the zoom stopped working, i.e. it doesn't zoom to 200% but only to circa 110%.
I reinstalled the software and even upgraded to iOS 5.1.1. to solve the problem, but had no success.
Any hints much appreciated.

Developed a DBase application for a vertical market using MS Access. Worked on it for over a decade.
Have been in contact with a rather large company and we are talking about licensing my program with them.
BUT; they want it "On the Cloud"
Here is what needs to be accomplished. Ideally a user can log in from anywhere, (similar to on-line banking), enter data and print reports.
Read this a few days ago:
"If I were in your situation and felt that there's a growth market for your offerings, I would personally go with a PHP/MySQL-based model. The printing issue can be readily resolved with PDF-based output.
So the Querys, Forms and VBA Code needs to be brought in from MS Access to Dreamweaver.
Can this be done? Or is there a better way that I haven't learned yet?
Would someone be so kind and point me in the correct direction.

No, not any way that I know of. You would need to completely rewrite this as a web application. Obviously the MS Access tables can be migrated to MySQL and the Access queries converted to views. But the forms and custom code needs to be written from scratch in html and your choice of server side programming language.

Do we have any third party FLEX component libraries to support accessibility feature for all the components(like: ViewStack, ToggleButtonBar, charts and etc..) ?

I am working on FLEX 4.6 SDK it provides 35 components with built in accessibility support. My Application contains some components which have no built in accessibility support but I need to provide accessibility support for those components too. I have gone through the Flex docs to customize the non accessible components to support accessibility feature, But the docs where not clear. To customize a single component I have to overwrite lot of code in SDK level.
and it takes lot of effort.
So, I would like to use FLEX component libraries which provides accessibility support for all the component.
Could you please guide me how can I provide accessibility support for other components with out putting more effort on it.

Mavericks: "System Events" would like to control this computer using accessibility features?

I just installed Mavericks on my MacBook Pro and was in the process of exploring changes when suddently this message popped up:
- "System Events' would like to control this computer using accessibility features. Grant access to this application in Security & Privacy preferences, located in System Preferences.
The two choices offered are "Open System Preferences" and "Deny."
Any idea why this would be triggered? I don't like clicking to grant access without understanding what's going on.

3.1 update indicates home button can be used for accessibility features

The release list says "Option to use Home button to turn on accessibility features on iPhone 3GS" whic i assumed were things like bluetooth and wifi.. when i go to setting to set the home button there does not appear to be such an option. Does anyone know if this is what was meant and how to do it?

Do you recommend upgrading from Acrobat X to XI from an Accessibility feature standpoint?

I believe my workload will start to include me making documents accessible. Is there a significant difference in sophistication of the Accessibility features? I saw that there were 'improvements' from X but could I still do just as well (working efficiently) with X for a while? Thank you in advance.

It has been awhile since I used X. As I recall XI offered enough small improvements all around that it seemed well worthwhile to me to upgrade. But for accessibility features alone - not sure. The accessibility checker in XI seems better than X, but neither is really adequate in my opinion. The free PDF Accessibility Checkers (PAC version 1.3 and 2) from the Swiss foundation Access for All are far more thorough. I would never rely on either Acrobat checker on its own. In short, X worked fine for me for accessibility work, XI is a bit better, both need PAC backup if you are serious about accessibility.

Accessing Help in DreamWeaver

I am a new user for DreamWeaver. The only help that I have
access to is a pdf file. Am I the only one who is unable to use the
F1 key to access help in DreamWeaver?? I have uninstalled and
re-installed but that didn't change anything.
This is the response listed on the help screen:
"This topic is in the Help system of another product. To view

I don't understand this and the technical support in Adobe
didn't help me either.

In addition, please make sure that the port 443 is not blocked by the firewall.
Web Application Proxy requires internal name resolution to resolve the names of backend servers, and AD FS servers. When publishing web applications via Web Application Proxy, every web application you publish requires an external URL. For clients to reach
these web applications, a public DNS server must be able to resolve each external URL that you configure. Note that the external URL must resolve to the same IP address as the Web Application Proxy server, or the external IP address of a firewall or load-balancer
placed in front of the Web Application Proxy server.

Golive GL's UI and features for Dreamweaver

Why is it that Adobe will not adopt the Golive GL's UI and features for Dreamweaver? AS a designer Golive has a much superior design interface then does Dreamweaver. Adobe should take the grid drag and drop features in Golive and incorporate into Dreamweaver.

On the contrary. I come from print and pagelayout with PageMaker/Quark/InDesign. I am not a coder. Nowadays I CAN read code though I never really write it (just as exception). I've used GoLive since version 1. Once upon a time I said I would never have anything to do with code. That was then. Today the situation is different and creating websites need knowledge of both html and css. Or your pages will very soon not work as meant in any modern browsers.
You don't have a choice. There is no such thing nowadays for wellfunctioning websites than learning and using html and css. There is no such thing as a website without having to do some coding.
