Accessibility for web designers
The main problem I have with the new CS4 is Accessibility.
Whilst we have to work for others and make sure everything is fine
for them - what about us??
I have RSI and believed that the new CS4 would help by being
cleverer than any other release, hence fewer mouse clicks etc - how
wrong could I be! It appears that I am now clicking more than three
times the amount I was on DW8.
Anyone else feel the same?
Rob
Can you offer any specific examples of what's changed between
DW8 and CS3
for you?

Hi, I'm thinking of using BC for a new web development business and want to ensure that the support will be in place to help out. Anyone with wny experience with thisi
Hello!
I see that your message ended rather abruptly, but I can still make out some concerns regarding the Business Catalyst platform and its support for Web Designers. I could point you to these blog articles:
http://www.businesscatalyst.com/bc-blog/revamping-the-business-catalyst-partner-program
http://www.businesscatalyst.com/bc-blog/open-platform-a-new-chapter-for-online-business
http://www.businesscatalyst.com/bc-blog/say-hello-to-the-business-catalyst-open-platform
These articles describe the latest major improvements in our platform. The new set of modern, responsive templates and the open platform are the major highlights. We've essentially offered better tools for developers and designers to deliver a better experience to their customers. In terms of customer support, as a partner, you benefit from:
- a solid community on the forums, where experienced BC users have more than often already replied to any questions you may have about the development process
- the live chat channel, where you can get real-time assistance with issues on any areas of the platform, from platform-login to pushing sites live
- ticketing system so any problems that may occur can be escalated all the way to engineering in order to be addressed
- a new documentation ( docs.businesscatalyst.com )
I meant to touch base on general areas of interest here, I assume your full question may have been more specific, so please feel free to reply, I'll be glad to further advise.

IMac 27" for Web Designers/Developers?
Hello,
I am considering making a switch from PC to Apple once again. I would like to see some good feedback from web designers/developers on the new 27" iMac. My main concern is screen size and normal font size being too small (after seeing it briefly in the Apple Store).
Can anyone comment or point me the right direction to get some hands on impressions from others in the web industry?
I am also waiting until the 27" issues have been addressed and resolved since Apple is still quiet.
Thank youYou assume there is a widespread problem that Apple needs to "address and resolve," beyond honoring the one-year warranty as individual cases arise.
Apple sells Macs currently at a rate of over 12 million per year. By now, if a million new iMacs have been sold, even if only 1 in 1000 customers have a hardware problem, that's 1000 customers with hardware problems. I don't know what the actual problem rate is with the new iMacs, but reading a few dozen or even a few hundred problem reports does not indicate there is a general problem. When you sell a lot of something, even if only 0.1% are affected with a problem, it will be large number of customers; conversely, it means the vast majority of customers have no problems because Apple's customer support systems (and Apple Discussions) are not being overwhelmed.
And if you happen to be affected by a hardware problem, that's the purpose of the one-year warranty and optional AppleCare.
Also, while Apple Discussions is a great way for individuals to get their individual questions answered with the help of other users, it is not a verifiable, consistent, nor comprehensive source of quality control data. For every problem report you read, you have no idea if there are 10, 100, or 1000 customer with no problems. People with no problems generally will not bother logging onto Apple Discussions (or any other forum) just to post that they are having no problems.
For your question about web designers and developers, using a new 27" iMac for this purpose would not be any different than using any recent Mac (except maybe having a larger screen to work with). You should look for forums, articles, and reviews related to whatever development tools you happen to use for your work. You should also mention what those tools happen to be here, so that users who also use the same tools can comment. If those current tools happen to be Windows only, you should stil mention what they are. -
508 / Accessibility for Web Dynpro
Hi,
Does web dynpro support accessibility / 508 ?
As I have read and heard on teh techEd the web dynpro stack9 will support this, so I can set the property sap-accessibility=x resp. accessibilityDescription="testtext".
Also in the thread "Keyboard access to UI Element"
Posted on: Jul 29, 2004 10:27 PM, by user: Armin Reichert
Accessibility has been addressed and will be supported in the production release.
So I have download the WAS 6.40 as a 90 days test licence. But in the NW Dev. Studio there is no such a attribute for the GUI elements. Do I have to upgrade? But how?
Regards RalphHi Armin,
thanks for the quick reply.
What I mean is, that in the presentation PRTL205 of the TechEd2004, on page 30 there is a screenshot from the NW Dev. Studio where you can see a property 'accessibilityDescription' for a GUI Element. Is property is not in the current NW Dev.Studio which you can download from SDN.
You know, if there is a 'newer' IDE than the one you can download?

SICF Access for Web Dynpro Development
Developer wants access to SICF to be able to test any Web Dynpro Development. Currently no developer has access and Basis only gives access when requested - and only for short time. I believe developers should have access. Wondering how others have this setup. Thanks!
> If a developer creats an app via SE80 - which does the same in ICF for the service - then SICF access is required.
Are you sure? Or is the tcode check only appearing somewhere in a trace?
If that is true, then ICF service developers will anyway be able to start SICF directly. Please check the coding location of the check from the trace, if it is calling FM AUTHORITY_CHECK_TCODE (which I suspect it is...) then verify in SE97 that an SE80 developer can use (limited, coded...) SICF functionality from other contexts without starting it directly.
What you can also do is protect the ICF services using the authorization group concept (including those you are not using...). If the developer wants to use one (in a new development) then it should be released for them by granting them access to it (authorization object S_ICF_ADM in their role) for development work and then ideally object S_ICF added to the service user they are using for development as well. If they are developing the role for the application together with the application coding development (this is the ideal scenario in my opinion for a knowledgable developer) then give them that access as well in PFCG for the role they are developing.
I think it can safely be said that most developers can be trusted, but also to do stupid things though... and they enter their own user ID in the connection data..
That is a reality. If you trust them and train them and collaborate with them to improve security - then they will be your best friends and understand more about security as well (to protect themselves from their own user ID's...).
This is a very interesting topic. Thanks for raising it.
Cheers,
Julius
ps: I don't like posting links, because I see it as an insult to the person who asked the question as not having done a search and not knowing what they are talking about. But for the benefit of those who use the search and find this thread... please read this documention (or the one which is relevant for your release - I choose a reasonable release level...).

About Typekit, Edge Fonts and Google Fonts real utility for Web Designers
Hello,
Perhaps it´s a simple situation for the majority of CC User but I´m a little bit confused about that. I have a TypeKit plan included in my Creative Cloud subscription. I have then the possibility of use Web Fonts included in Typeset (which is awesome, by the way). My problem comes when I try to use a TypeKit font for a client who does´t want to pay for a TypeKit plan and I can´t use the same font in the trial plan which is a great way of convince the client he needs TypeKit for a better typography access.
So, my questions are:
There is available TypeKit fonts in Adobe Edge fonts too?
The only fonts available in Edge Fonts are Google Fonts?
How can I know if a specific TypeKit font is available in TypeKit Trial Plan too without searching the entire catalog filtered by Trial Library or in Adobe Edge?
Do you recommend to me a workflow in which I can use TypeKit fonts for clients avoiding the need to pay the client for that font? (it´s hard to convince him, not to use free alternatives like Google Fonts or Adobe Edge Fonts)
Thanks in advance.I haven’t tried it so this may be a shot in the dark but you might be able to hack into the CSS and use @font-face to call a local font.
Check the license of the font to be sure it allows this. -
How to set limited access for web.
I currently have a 10.5 server hosting 5 different websites, and now one site wants to convert to a "login in required" to access the website, is there a quick way for me to configure this through the site itself with a list of users Open Directory and realms or do I have to do some fancy unix commands that I am not very good at.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.Have you ever used Server Admin?
Right in the GUI for your sites is a tab for Realms.
Create a Realm. Give it a name and a directory (the path you want to protect) and click the + button below the Users list. From here you can select any user and/or group from your directory.
That's it. -
I've been asked to switch on accessibility for web dynpro. These are the steps I've taken so far but they don't seem to have had any effect:
1) added the WDACCESSIBILITY parameter to an application with a value of X.
2) The PDF document 'Developing Accessible Applications with SAP Netweaver', in section 4.4.2, tells me to add the following to the end of the url: '?sap-accessibility=x'. I'm not able to do this on the application properties as the url field is greyed out. After launching the application I added it to the end of the url but it did not seem to make any difference...though I believe it may be that I will not see anything until I try it with a screen reader ?
3) OSS Note 1412833 (though on a slightly different release to us) talks of having to make changes to table WDY_APP_PROP_DEF in order to get the WDACCESSIBILITY parameter to work. I've done this and I still do not see any change when trying 2) above.
Does anyone out there have experience in this area that can provide me with some advice ? Am I following the correct steps (am I missing anything ?) and should I be seeing a difference in the aplication or should I only expect to see a change if I use a screen reader ?Hi,
Check that you have added the correct parameters "sap-accessibility=x"
Also tooltip will only be visible when there is a tab\focus on the UI element.
Also you can check for accessibility in debug mode by adding param
sap-accessibility=x&sap-accessibility-debug=x
After that press CTRLALTSHIFT+A, A yellow coloured status bar will appear at the bottom of your window which will show you the accessibility tooltip for that UI element whenever that UI element gets focus
Check the [snapshot|http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/j2EDy-AXZfL5Fn-ZaZZUVQ?feat=directlink]
Also you can have a look at following documentation
http://www.sapdesignguild.org/resources/acc.asp
http://www.sapdesignguild.org/resources/Accessibility_Guideline_WebDynpro_external_Version.pdf.
Also check your IE version should be IE 6.0 or above.
If all that doesn't helps than time to raise a CSN ticket.

I have updated to ios 7 and Microsoft outlook web access for work emails no longer works nor my remote access can you help
This happened to me as well. I read somewhere else that resetting the network settings (General, Reset, Reset Network Settings) would help and it partially did. I get half (the folders) of the Web Access screen rather than a blank screen. I tried tihs a few more times and got the right half (the messages) on occasion but never the whole web page.

I am using Firefox 5.0 and Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access for email.
Is it possible to setup a rule to automatically move messages to a different folder, or to forward message to a different folder?
Thanks!i haven't done it myself, i just pointed you to the article. Try it. If it does not work, you can Restore the Default settings. Save several Screenshots of the Default Settings to your Desktop to help you in case you want to Revert to the Default Settings.

I designer I want to create forms for web client, does each client have to purchase form central to access the data?
Hi,
In this scenario, you can share the document with the clients to and provide co-author privileges.
Co-authors can edit the form design, options, responses, and summary report (everything that you can do).
Note:- They do not require a paid subscription to view the responses, free subscription users can become co-authors.
Please refer to the following thread to know how to share a form with others:-How do I share a form I created with others?

Web Access for Remote Desktop on Windows Server 2012
Hello,
i've a Windows Server 2012 without a domain. So i installed the remote desktop session host, the remote desktop license server and the remote desktop gateway as a server role only. All is working fine. Without a domain, no management tools for remote
desktop are available. So i configure the remote desktop via the registry. I define (via registry) some remoteapps, too. All values are copied from a running Windows Server 2008 R2. So the remoteapps are runing.
Now i want to use the new Microsoft Remote Desktop client for Android. To use a remoteapp i must define a remote resource. To define a remote resource i need a url to the web access for remote desktop. So i installed the web access. But if i login to the
web access, i don't see any remoteapp. What's wrong? I've set the ShowInTSWA to 1. What must i do to access an existing remoteapp via web access?
MartinHi Martin,
Server 2012 RD Web Access is designed to retrieve published RemoteApps and Desktops from a Server 2012 RD Connection Broker and/or a Server 2008 R2 RD Session Host server. From your description it doesn't appear that you are using either of the above.
I know it is a more complicated set up, but you should consider having a domain, creating a RDS deployment, etc., so that you can use the full featureset as it was intended. You can do it all on a single server if needed. For Server 2012
there is a hotfix that needs to be applied to permit RD Connection Broker to work on the same server instance as active directory.

Does anyone have a good link for images I can access for my web development work. I have Adobe Creative Suite 5.5
In short, NO.
I was hoping that the 7.4.1 update would allow it to work, but it has caused more problems than it is worth. If you do actually get it to work you will see the TC in finder (under Shared) when connected to the internet outside of your home network. What I have found though is that the 7.4.1 firmware update has made using the internet at home almost impossible.
I have tried Hamachi but it is not reliable.
I have settled with Dropbox so my files are synced between my home machine and laptop.
