Accessibility mode FAIL

I want to love BB 10 OS & my Z10.  I am proud to put my phone on the table with all the iPhone fanboys and let them know they are slavish drones!  But I stumbled into a major design flaw today and I want to nuke my Z10!
Maybe I'm just nervous, but I must have pressed the Lock button 3 times. Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz clicking her heals.  The next thing I know the phone is talking to me.  Thus ensues 2 hrs of maximum frustration  There is ABSOLUTELY NO SCREEN SUPPORT that tells me I'm in Accessibilty mode.  A simple message: "Press Lock 3 Times to Exit Accissibility Mode" would have helped immensely.
The operation of the phone becomes100% inscrutible.  I later learn that this mode is for the visually impaired.  I would like to know what testing was done with people who needed this 'feature?'  Close your eyes and tell me it helps!  It only stumbles, stammers, fails to respond!  I later learned with a call to the ever-helpful T-Mobile support people that a three finger swipe at precise angles, velocity and incredible accuracy has a PRAYER or reversing this mode.  OMG!  I was going to drive to a T-Mobile store or the hospital emergency room after the hara-kiri I was sure would be more humane than this devil spawn of a BETA FEATURE!!
PLEASE: make the triple lock press a DEFAULT OFF function for accessibility.  If you are visually impared it would be a purposeful selection that would require assistance anyway.  DON'T MAKE IT THE DEFAULT!  And for heaven's sake make disabling/reversing it obvious.  Who could possibly imagine that three finger swipes or triple clicks (seriously??) would be natural UI features?
I want to love BB, but this really crashes my party

Pressing the power button three times enables Screen Reader Beta in Accessibility Mode, you must have also confirmed Confirmation Message (default On) to accidentally have gone into that mode.

  • Accessibility-mode causes panelTabbed fail

Happens in my code, not sure if it is a general case:
    I have a <panelTabbed> component in a popup dialog.
In the <panelTabbed> it has 2 <af:showDetailItem>. If I set <accessibility-mode> to screenReader in trinidad-config.xml, then the second tab will be lost.
    <af:popup>
    --<af:dialog>
    ----<af:panelTabbed>
    ------<af:showDetailItem>
    ------<af:showDetailItem>
Please take a look and see if it can reproduced on your side, and please provide a walk-around, if it really happens.
    Thanks,
    - Chen

    Hi, Andreas:
My JDev version is 11.1.1.7, which is an internal version for the SKYROS skin.
Probably, I found out why the second tab was lost... because the text in the tabs was:
    Attributes
    Attribute Settings
and the width of the <af:panelTabbed> was about 300px, it works fine when turning off the accessibility-mode
When turning it on, the text in the tab bcomes:
    Selected Item: Attribute ||
    Item: Attribute Settings
    OR
    Item: Attributes
    Selected Item: Attribute Settings
Because the width of the tab is based on the text inside, and because there is no space to hold these 2 tabs in one row (because the position settings for the tabs are "relative" based on the class xb7), the second tab was wrapped to the position under the first one...
So after I change the width of the <af:panelTabbed> the second tab shows up, and looks like it works fine.
    Thanks.

  • Installation of Client Access role fails on Windows Server 2008 R2 (Execution of: "$error.Clear(); Install-ExchangeCertificate -services "IIS, POP, IMAP")

    Hello
I am trying to install Exchange Server 2010 beta 1 onto a Windows Server 2008 R2 (build 7000) machine which has also been set up as a domain controller.
However when attempting to install the Client Access role, setup fails with the error below.
Does anyone know of a way to get around this please?
I have already searched for this error and not found any similar threads.
Also every time I press the code button on this forum it crashes the browser and I keep losing the message! (IE8 from within Server R2). Also the message box is very small, will not expand and keeps jumping to the top.
    Thanks

    Hello
    Thanks for all the replies.
I have since wiped the system and installed everything again and it all worked this time so not sure what was wrong last time. I did try to uninstall all Exchange components and then uninstall IIS and Application server, reboot and re-install but I received the same error still when it came to installing the client access role.
Walter: I just attempted the standard installation which should have used the default self-signed certificate. Everything was a fresh install done at the same time on a freshly formatted PC.
For info last time when it failed to work:
    - Installed Windows Server 2008 R2
    - Installed Domain Controller role using dcpromo. I set the forest and domain as Windows Server 2008 R2
    - Added a forest trust between main domain and test Exchange domain (set up as ex2010.local)
    - Installed IIS and Application Server role
    - Installed Hyper-v role
    - Installed Desktop Experience feature
    - Installed Exchange and recieved the error
When it worked I set up the forest and domain in Windows Server 2008 mode (i.e. not R2), installed Exchange first and then set up the forest trust and then Hyper-v. It did say it failed to configure dns which was probably because it started trying to do automatic updates half way through the dcpromo! DNS seems to work ok though.
I did notice this time that Hyper-v gave a warning about the virtual network adapter not being set up correctly and the local network did not work correctly although I could access the internet. Not sure if this could have been related to the cause of the problem previously. For now I have disabled the virtual network until I get time to try and get it working and so the mail will work in the meantime.
I also noticed that Hyper-v added an extra 443 ssl binding to the default website so as it had 2 bindings on port 443 it refused to start. After deleting one it worked.
I decided to install Exchange onto a domain controller as it is only a test and I wouldn't do it in a live environment. I am also short of test machines! It didn't give me any warnings about this actually, I think previous versions warn you that it is not recommended.
Andreas and Chinthaka: I did not know about the requirement to run the domain at 2003 mode. The main domain is running in 2008 mode with Exchange 2007 so I assume this is just a temporary beta related requirement. It does seem to be working (second attempt) so far in a 2008 mode domain although I haven't had a chance to fully test it yet.
    Thanks
    Robin
P.S. Sorry it's taken me a while to reply!

  • My external hard drive goes in to constant access mode and really slows down my computer

I'm using an external hard drive for time machine.  After working for an hour or so the drive goes into a constant access mode and realy slows down my IMac.  I look at activity monitor and everything looks good, no high CPU usage or memory issues.  The only fix is to use the power button to shut down my IMac.  After restart it works fine for a while.
If I turn off time machine the problem seems to not happen.  I tried disk utility on the external hard drive and it says the dirve is fine.  I change out external drives and the problem still occures.  Any thoughts?

I didn't realize my profile stated otherwise.
Please check near the bottom of your original post above to see OS X (10.7.2).  You might want to update that to avoid confusion and save some time in the future.
OK, please take a deep breath.
Apple does not officially support Time Machine backups to a drive at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme....likely because it is not reliable. You might want to review this Apple Support document to confirm:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2038
So, we are not going to be able to provide you with much assistance on that issue.
Some users seem to be able to make this work....some have some problems....and some (like me) who have tried this have nothing but problems.
Sorry, I can't help on this one, but maybe another user who has had better luck will post to provide his secrets.
The iTunes and iPhoto libraries and files are my only copies now.  I moved everything from my Macbook to the external then deleted the originals.
Not sure if you have thought about this.
If you deleted the "originals", then your only copy of your data is on one hard drive. You have no backups if the drive has a problem.
A minimum backup plan would be to have a copy of important data on two different drives. When....not if...one drive fails, you have the data on the "other" drive.
You have no "other" drive according to the information that you have provided.
Further.....Time Machine backs up the changes on your Mac. At some point....you cannot know when.....Time Machine will pick up the change on your Mac and delete the iTunes and iPhoto data from your Time Machine backups.
The files might stay there a few months, or even longer. But, I have seen instances where the files were deleted within a week or two.
So my advice would be to only delete data from your Mac that you can afford to lose.

  • My 6th gen ipod seems to be stuck in accessibility mode

My 6th generation Ipod is stuck in accessibility mode and is "voicing" all the different options on the screen.  Also, a swiping action is not working.  I have not done a factory reset to original settings but it will likely be my next step.  A hard reset did not cure the problem.

Plug it in to iTunes - go to the Summary tab when the iPod appears - go down to the 'Configure Accessibility' button (bottom of the page) - click it.  You may see VoiceOver checked.  Uncheck it, then click OK.
Failing that: I have a 7G.  With my version, I get the voice when I hold both volume buttons down (I think).  Maybe your buttons do the same thing and maybe they are being held down by something?  Just a guess.

  • How to create a calendar activity in accessibility mode ?

I didn't find any way to create a calendar activity in accessibility mode. Since it shows blank list of days in calendar component for a month.
It seems to be a bug in ADF calendar component. Please suggest if there is any alternate way to support this.
    Thank you so much.

    Timo,
From a  reference doc of previous version of jdev/adf, it said :
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/cn/java/calendar-091799.html
Expand the Data Controls accordion and drag the collection that represents the view object for the activity created above (FodCalEventVO) and drop it as a Calendar.
But in Jdev 12c.--cannot find the Create Calendar choice.
In jdev 12c can drag and drop a calendar component from the component palette, but do not now how to bind it to view objects.
    Thanks.

    Try to reproduce:
$ sudo iwconfig wlan0 power on
Error for wireless request "Set Power Management" (8B2C) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported.
This may mean that power management on the wlan hardware is not supported, and we should turn it off in /etc/laptop-mode/conf.d/wireless-power.conf:
    CONTROL_WIRELESS_POWER_SAVING=0
Now I don't get the error anymore, and still in hope wireless saves power automagically.
    PS.
Odd is that /etc/laptop-mode/modules/ is empty as all the other dirs mentioned in 3 latter log items.

  • Using TImed Access mode on Airport Extreme with other routers in bridge mode. Not working as expected.

I am trying to setup timed access mode on my airport extreme in order to limit the times devices can connect to my network, but I am having some trouble.
My setup is as follows  Cable Modem ---> Airport Extreme ---> Netgear router
The Airport is running DHCP and the Netgear is in bridge mode. The only purpose of the Netgear is to provide a wireless access point for older b/g wifi devices. The Netgear is connected to the Airport by an ethernet cable from one of its LAN ports. All ip addresses are supplied by the Airport.
When I list a device mac number in the Airport extreme's timed access table it does seem to block the device if the device trys to connect to the airport's wireless service, but the device is still able to obtain service through the Netgear wireless service. I want the device to be blocked on both wireless networks. I thought this would work since all DHCP is on the airport. Why is the Airport allowing the device to connect when it comes in through the Netgear?
In this example the device I am trying to block is 5c:59:48:ba:28:d2.
Looking at the log on the airport I see the following entry when the device (when permitted) connects to the airport wireless
    Nov 30 22:43:12
    Severity:5
    Associated with station 5c:59:48:ba:28:d2
If instead the device connects to the Netgear wireless I see the following log entry on the airport (this connection gets through even if the mac address above is listed as blocked on the airport)
    Dec 01 10:46:29
    Severity:5
    Connection accepted from [fe80::223:12ff:fe29:acfe%bridge0]:54774.
It appears that the Netgear router (while bridging the network) is somehow modifying the mac address format in a way that the airport does not recognise it as the device to block.
What can I do to fix this?
    Thanks.

The Netgear wireless server has control over what what devices are allowed to connect.
Unless you tell the Netgear what devices you want to allow to connect, it will allow any wireless device to connect as long as it knows the wireless network password.
IF.... .you were using two AirPort Extremes, and not a Netgear, the two Extremes would communicate to each other....so you would only have to enter Timed Access settings on one router and other AirPort would automatically pick those settings up.
But, even this was not the case until the last year or so when Apple updated firmware.  A few years ago, you might have had 2 Apple AirPort Extremes on the network, but you still had to manually set up Timed Access on both devices separately.
Bottom line, you need to setup the equivalent of Timed Access on the Netgear router.

  • How to change Access Mode of HANA Stored procedure

    Hi,
When you are creating a stored procedure as design time object, one of the option is access mode (either read only or read/write).
I understand read only is default setting in HANA DB, and unless you explicitly change the setting you cannot read/write using stored procedure.
My question is, is there way to change this setting, so I have option to choose either read or read/write when I create a stored proc?
    Thank you.
    Hyun

    Hi Hyun,
Please have a look on this thread:
Create local temporary table in procedure
You have to enable sqlscript_mode to UNSECURE as mentioned by lars.
Then depending on whether you are specifiying "READS SQL DATA" it will act as a READ procedure else as a WRITE procedure.

  • Viewing form in Preview Mode Failed. Error: Table not found  [131-183]

    Hi,
I have created a user form in screen painter in SBODemo. Created UDT, UDF & Registered UDO through my SDK code.
    Everything works fine.
But when i run my addon on any other DB, and open my custom form it gives an error : Table Not Found.
I have checked the UDT's , UDF's & my UDO, all are in place and getting created in the DB.
I tried checking the Form again in screen painter everything is in line. But when i try preview in screen painter it gives an error
Viewing form in Preview Mode Failed. Error: Table not found  [131-183].
I can't figure out the issue, i have checked my codes & forms many times.
    Regards

    hi john smith,
Check your screen painter, probably some fields are defined without the "@" character in front.
    for fields, check the "U_".

  • Accessibility-mode set to inaccessible and 508 compliance

    Hi,
    I'm using JDEV 10.1.3.3.0.
I've set accessibility-mode to inaccessible in adf-faces-config.xml in order to set the InitialFocusID on some of my pages. Does this setting mean that my application is not/cannot be 508 compliant?
Is there a way to use the InitialFocusID (or other way to position the cursor) and use ADF Faces automatic 508 compliance code?
    TIA,
    Dave

    Hi,
ensure you use the correct version of JAWS. In the past I've seen things like this caused by the JAWS reader. If the problem still shows and you have a support contract, provide a test case and file a bug
My problem is when i use tab key from keyboard to navigate on the page the component highlights(dotted line around the component ) but it does not open the required popup.
This is because there is no setting in your page code that says that the popup should show when the component is in focus.
    +<af:showPopupBehaviour popupId="alertPopup" triggerType="mouseOver" align="startbefore"/>+
    +<af:showPopupBehaviour popupId="alertPopup" triggerType="contextMenu" align="startbefore"/>+

  • Is there api function to change access mode and set a passcode to recording in meeting?

Is there api function to change access mode and set a passcode to recording in meeting?
When I'm trying to use "action=acl-field-update&acl-id=SCO_ID_RECORDING&field-id=meeting-passcode&value=MY_PASSC ODE" it just clean the password and do not set it or change.
And "action=permissions-update&acl-id=SCO_ID_RECORDING&principal-id=public-access&permission- id=view-hidden" do not work too.

There is not a specific API for doing this. This was discussed in the other Connect forum here, Adobe Connect User Community.
For you call I would make the second part differently. Instead of 'field-id=meeting-passcode&value=MY_PASSCODE' I would call 'meeting-passcode=MY_PASSCODE' and see if that worked better.

The strange part is that if I temporarily grant the user the sysadmin server role then the user can connect successfully and retrieve data.  But, if I take away that sysadmin server role then the user can no longer connect but again receives the Error
18456 Severity 14 State 11 Login Failed for user _ Reason Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error.
We've turned off UAC on the client machine to see if that was the problem, but no change.
I have dropped and re-added the user's SQL Login (and the related database user login info).  No success.
    The Ring Buffers output shows:
    The Calling API Name: LookupAccountSidInternal
    API Name: LookupAccountSid
    Error Code: 0x534
    Thanks for any help.

Yes, you understand correctly.  The user is logging onto a workstation (not the server) with a Windows Authenticated id.  The user is using either Excel or Access or SSMS and connecting to the server using a Windows Authenticated SQL Login account.
If the account has sysadmin role (which is only for testing) then the connection is successful.  If I take away sysadmin role from the account then the connection is unsuccessful and the SQL Server Log shows Error
18456 Severity 14 State 11 Login Failed for user _ Reason Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error.
(SQL Authentication is not an option here.  I must use Windows Authentication).
Any other troubleshooting assistance you can offer would be appreciated.  Thanks.

  • Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error

    Hi
We have a new Win 2008 Enterprise x64 server running SQL 2008
When we try to connect to the server using Windows Authentication, from a user account which is a domain administrator, we get the following message:
"Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error"
What needs to be configured here for this to work ?
    Thanks
    Bruce

    Hi,
I am encountering the same error message but it is more around the login, this problem happens only on one server but it is fine on another three, my investigation show it is a ghost SID associated with AD user account
    Background
1- An Active Directory (AD) account was created for a user [Domain\UserA]
2- A SQL login was created for the account above and then granted access to a number of databases
3- The AD account was renamed/modified to [Domain\UserB]
At this stage the user would encounter an error when connecting to the server
The sql log show this error message
        Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 11.
        Message
Login failed for user 'domain\user'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors.     [CLIENT: xxx]
Action on Server 1 SQL (the one with the problem)
1- Dropped the user from the databases
2- Re-Created the login from the windows account [Domain\UserB]
3- Created the user in the respective databases
But the user still unable to connect to the server
    Investigation
On server 1, the SID of the user in SYSUSERS was Matching SYSLOGINS and matches with result of SUSER_SID(Domain\UserA)
But it does not match the SID in the AD
The rest of the servers all have the correct SIDs
When I use SUSER_SNAME(Incorrect-Sid) and SUSER_SNAME(Correct-Sid) on this server they both return [Domain\UserB]
The problematic server is always returning the incorrect SID when recreating the user login and when using SUSER_SID(Domain\UserA) as if it is cached somewhere.
I can't specify the SID when creating the SQL login because it is using the Windows account
Your ideas on how to fix this problem are much appreciated
    Regards,
    DGL

  • Command for:  Access Mode for Result Set

    Hi
Does anyone know if there is a command for "Access Mode for Result Set".
The default view for my characteristic in my query is "Characteristic Relationships".
I would like to have a command button for the user to be able to change the access mode to "Posted Values"
I have searched through all the commands but was unable to find this command.
OR if it is not available does anyone know the XHTML that I could enter into the web template.
    Thanks in advance.
