Accessing a Hana Database through a native iPad application

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if there was a way by which a connection can be established to retrieve data from a Hana Database through an iPad application .
Our team has to build a POC (timelines are very crunchy, about 1 week to build it and get it up and running) on the iPad .
Please help.

This will ensure that without knowing the password, person won't be able to connect.
That said, there is no stopping for the person who would be knowing the credentials of your o/s or sys user.

  • Can't access mail, calendar section through settings on IPAD

Since I updated to 5.1,1 I am no longer getting email.  I can't no longer access the mail, calendar section via the settings section.  I can see it but cannot access it.  This all occurred when I updated.  Both my exchange email and my ymail no longer sync. My calendar is not available either.  I have reset my settings and that did not help. Any ideas?

The mailaccess.log didn't show anything with the user's name at all. I just tried to add a POP account and refreshed the mailaccess log over and over the whole time and the Mail app gave me the "Trying to log into the POP server ... has failed..." again. With no mention of that user in the log at all.
I tried it with multiple user accounts too. I even created a test user and tried it with that account and the same thing happens. No mention of the user in the mailaccess log and the Mail app gets the error message when trying to logon to the POP server.

  • Error while accessing HANA-Database

    Hi all,
I try to access the HANA-database (installed as secondary database).
The table is replicated in HANA and I have created a program in ERP with the following procedure:
    SELECT * FROM [table]
                     CONNECTION ('HANADB')
                     INTO lt_table.
HANADB is the database connection name for HANA (table DBCON).
By running the program I become the following error:
The file "dbhdbslib.dll" is already in the folder "C:\usr\sap\IS0\DVEBMGS00\exe\". Any idea what is missing?
    Thx for help, mlf.

    Hi Jasmin,
the program ADBC_TEST_CONNECTION gives the following error:

  • How to access the XDB-Repository through iAS

It is easy to access the XDB repository on a database server directly using http or ftp.
However, since our database server is behind a firewall we need to access the XDB repository through our Oracle Internet application server (iAS 9i) which is situated outside the firewall. Does anyone know how to do this? Any hint is greatly appreciated; unfortunately nobody answers to this question in the iAS forum.
We access a PSP-application on the database-server through the iAS-server using a DAD defined on the IAS-server. The XDB repository probably needs another access proceeding.
    Our environement:
    iAS 9.2 (Solaris)
    Oracle 9.2.0.4 (Solaris)
Thank you very much for any help

  • Unable to connect to SQL database through ODBC calls

I have been looking around for an answer to this, but haven't found the exact issue I'm seeing.
I have several Excel spreadsheets which have been working until recently, which use an ODBC call to a remote SQL database. The database is running, remote connections are allowed. The SQL server is in a domain which has no external trusts. Users with accounts
in this domain can remotely access the SQl databases through ODBC just fine. Users who do not have domain accounts in this domain are being denied access by their domain account, and the SQL authentication is not passed through, even though remote access is
set to allow "everyone", and the database is set to Windows authentication and SQL authentication. This worked until early this week (the spreadsheet was created in 2010), and I have been looking fruitlessly for a fix ever since. As far as I know,
no changes were made to group policy on this domain, and no changes were made to the server or database recently, except Microsoft patches. None of the patches this month looked like they would affect this.

It works locally on the server and remotely for users in the same domain. I am trying to use the SQL account and password to connect to the database, but users from outside this domain fail to reach the SQL database for authentication. It looks like Windows
authentication is not passing the SQL credentials on if the windows authentication fails. I don't know how to resolve this. The only options in SQL are "Windows authentication and SQL authentication" or "Windows authentication only". The database is already
set to the first option. Somehow, I need to set the server to allow the SQL authentication even if the Windows authentication fails.
    Hi pkuti01,
SQL Server mixed mode is "Windows Authentication and SQL Server Authentication", we have to restart SQL Server service after change the authentication to mixed mode.
In your case, have you got any error message/information if you faild connect to SQL Server via ODBC? If so, please post them to us for further investigation. Furthermore, here is an article regarding steps to troubleshooting SQL connectivity issues for

  • How to detect if  Database is down when client application is running?

    Hi,
I have a oracle Forms application accessing a remote database. While doing processing, application has to post some data in a remote database.
As of now, when the Forms client is running and remote database is down, the client hangs.
I have tried Creating a timer before remote database procedure call in the FORMS Trigger and checking in the when_timer_expired trigger, if a specific duration has passed or not. This doesn't work as timer fires only after the remote procedure call completes and other SQL statements in the FORMS trigger where i have created the timer completes.
I Know sqlcode -3113 can be of help.
Hope someone can help me with a solution/suggestion.
    Thanks
    Hari

    interesting situation.
what about issuing the select count(*) into cnt from dual, if cnt>0 then do post.
better to setup the remote database has fail-over to another node.

  • Access database view from JPA to HANA database, JDBC: [258]: insufficient privilege:

My java application is delopyed on neo.ondemand.com and use the hana database on cloud also, we use eclipselink
    the jpa persistence configuration:
    <property name="eclipselink.target-database" value="com.sap.persistence.platform.database.HDBPlatform"/>
here i do not specify any user or password to access the database, i think hana JDBC somehow hide the user information when java application and hana database both are on the cloud.
for the tables created by JPA itself, access if fine.
now i have created a view via Hana studio, though database tunnel using account  dXXXXXXsapdev
i have an JPA entity, and i am trying to access the view from java application, it reports error:
Exception [EclipseLink-4002] (Eclipse Persistence Services - 2.3.2.v20111125-r10461): org.eclipse.persistence.exceptions.DatabaseException Internal Exception: com.sap.db.jdbc.exceptions.JDBCDriverException: SAP DBTech JDBC: [258]: insufficient privilege:
I do not know which database user is used by JPA to access the view, how can i grant the database rights on the view so that "native java application on cloud" can
access the database schema (or view created though database tunnel )
    any comment is welcomed.

    Hi,
Please post this issue under SAP HANA Cloud Platform space. The platform experts should be able to help with that.

  • How to get the data from mysql database which is being accessed by a PHP application and process the data locally in adobe air application and finally commit the changes back in to mysql database through the PHP application.

How to get the data from mysql database which is being accessed by a PHP application and process the data locally in adobe air application and finally commit the changes back in to mysql database through the PHP application.

If the data is on a remote server (for example, PHP running on a web server, talking to a MySQL server) then you do this in an AIR application the same way you would do it with any Flex application (or ajax application, if you're building your AIR app in HTML/JS).
That's a broad answer, but in fact there are lots of ways to communicate between Flex and PHP. The most common and best in most cases is to use AMFPHP (http://amfphp.org/) or the new ZEND AMF support in the Zend Framework.
This page is a good starting point for learning about Flex and PHP communication:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/flex_php.html
Also, in Flash Builder 4 they've added a lot of remote-data-connection functionality, including a lot that's designed for PHP. Take a look at the Flash Builder 4 public beta for more on that: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashbuilder4/

I'm not able to clearly underdstand the steps in tomcat docs for connecting to database and the changes to be made in different files.
Can someone tell me detailed and clear steps for connecting to an ms access database through jsp?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I'm not exactly sure why you have this problem. I know that the Microsoft SQL Server driver has a parameter "readOnly=false". Check your DB2 docs to see if you need to set a flag like that, too.
Maybe it has to do with transactions and auto commit. See if DB2 assumes autoCommit true or false. Maybe you have to explicitly commit your INSERT.
Maybe you're writing to one database and opening another. Make sure that's correct.
There are other suggestions that I'll offer.
You do all that work with a database in a constructor? Bad idea.
You've got database and UI stuff all mingled together. Ever heard of MVC separation?
Be object-oriented - start by designing an object to encapsulate all those items you're trying to INSERT.
Then write a Data Access Object (DAO) that does CRUD operations for that object. Test these thoroughly, preferrably with JUnit, until they're 100% perfect.
Then have a separate UI that instantiates these objects and calls their methods. The persistence layer shouldn't know about UI stuff, and the UI shouldn't need to have any persistence code in it.
